It was very peaceful, quiet and comfortable.
Also child friendly! Art loved the videos and games. There was also lots of reading material.
- Gardiner (8/5): We had a lovely peaceful weekend - It was very peaceful
- Sello (10/5): It was great. - The place is clean, peaceful and very tranquil. Ideal for resting and also bet friendly as we brought our family dog and we all had so much fun. The scary pictures on the wall.
- Krishna (8/5): Enjoyed our stay other than for the things I already mentioned. - Very spacious. Large fenced area for our dogs. Had everything. We do not mind the rustic farm layout and style, however if this is not your fancy, you may not like it. Beds and mattresses need attention or replacement. Roosters woke us up early,
- Christian Eyssen (8/5): -

- Marilyn (9/5): Ideal weekend family getaway - Such a lovely big space for our family of four. The kids rode their bikes in the garden and we so enjoyed relaxing with our books on the beautiful patio. The charming farmhouse has everything needed for a weekend out of the city. We will definitely be back!
- Andrew (10/5): -

- Matjila (10/5): -

- Renishka (8/5): Very good - Beautiful peaceful location. Excellent customer service from uncle Jan. Great value for the money spent. All consumables including daily drinking water was provided.
- Alfred (10/5): It was absolutely amazing, recommend for a couple that hardly talk. We spoke with my partner. SPOKE! - Cleanness? Top tier I loved everything, the quietness.
- Rosina (8/5): Very good -
- Thusanang (9/5): Great getaway!!! - Perfect getaway!! Quiet and comfortable. Host was so welcoming and attended to our needs. Second room could be sectioned to be private.
- Schoeman (9/5): Great comfortable stay! - It is Unique in it layout! Big value for money!
- Samantha (8/5): Very good -
- Carly (10/5): Relaxing and just what our little family needed. - It was a little piece of heaven tucked away from everything and we loved it! The heat lol! Will definitely come back in the cooler months.
- Kuvi (10/5): Old School - Quite different...old school vibe...very peaceful... No lights by the braai area...
- Wesley (6/5): It was pleasant. We attended a wedding that was close by. - The furniture and decoration was a real trip down memory lane A little more privacy for the single beds would have been appreciated
- Kgomo (6/5): It’s a nice place and very private if you need a privacy please - It was so big and have enough space We didn’t like the pool area
- Nonkululeko (8/5): Our stay was wonderful, thank you to a very attentive host. - Very unique place and its tranquility. If you feel worn out. You would not regret coming to relax in this place. Jan was an excellent host. We had an unfortunate incident whereby the power went off on our last night, leaving us with uncharged gadgets. Consider a small alternative power supply.
- Da (10/5): Exceptional - I love vintage and Boho style stuff, as well as Whimsical Art and re-purposing, and am also a huge sentimentalist aso being surrounded by it the whole long weekend was most enjoyable to me. I like that it's tucked away on a quiet private space, but close enough if you needed to get something from the town. We really just loved being out of the city and spending time relaxing with our granddaughter. she loved the morning visits from the monkeys the most, and she loved being able to play in the garden as long as she wanted to. I'm easy going, and am always happy to make the best use of whatever is available to me, so I have nothing that I didn't like. I did need a little cereal bowl once or twice, but it wasn't an issue, and the cutting knives could have been a bit sharper.
- Ndwalaza (10/5): N/A - N/A N/A
- Carin (8/5): Lazy weekend and the lazy lapa - We really enjoyed the Lazy Lapa, the outside Lapa with the couches were perfect to just sit and relaxed the whole day. The place is perfect for a quite relaxing weekend
- Jay (10/5): Exceptional -
- Thuli (10/5): Exceptional - The place is isolated, away from the noise, but easy to navigate to, and the house is beautiful.
If you need to recharge away from the city, it's a go-to place.
The host was extremely nice, Oom Jan made out stay good. I was happy with everything.
- Kerry-ann (8/5): Peaceful and restful. - The Lazy Lapa is a treat - like stepping into a bygone era. Decor is eccentric and delightful. The cottage is spacious and comfortable and very very peaceful.
- Lucy (5/5): Passable -
- Ursula (8/5): Loved our stay - This cozy cottage provided the perfect retreat. Nestled amidst lush greenery have a great charm. We loved waking up to the gentle sounds of nature (and the rooster off course :) and sipping our morning coffee on the veranda. Nothing that we did not like. The decor in the cottage was something else and took us back to the good old days.
The only thing that we did not like was the limited time we spend at the cottage. We booked in 14:00 Saturday and had to leave immediately for a wedding. We arrived back at the cottage at 22:00 and the next morning we had to leave at 09:00. so yes. we would've loved to spend more time at your cottage.
- Craig (9/5): If you are looking for a unique stay in the Magalies area, Laza Lapa is your destination. - An artists dream..... The decor is unique. Loved the open plan lounge and dining room inside, although we mainly sat outside under the lapa, when eating meals. N/A
- Adel (7/5): Breakaway at Lazy lapa was a good experience for me and my 2 children - We were provided with candles and easter eggs. Jan and his son went out of their way to make our stay nice. WIFI was working well. The TV needs to be replaced and should have DSTV.
- Rodrick (7/5): Good -
- Riaan (8/5): Very good -
- Lizane (10/5): Exceptional - Comfortable accommodation with nice pool and bbq area NA
- Fritz (1/5): Bad - The photos that are advertised on Bookings.com The fact that the unit is joining the owners house. So it's not that private. It was super cluttered. Not even wine glasses to celebrate our engagement. The photos on bookings are not up to date with the current place.
- Eliana (7/5): Good - Property was clean. Well maintained.
Spacious. Boma a lovely idea.
Nice and private.
Liked the fact we could bring our pup along with us. The splash pool was not clean.
That was something we looked forward to, to splash in as we at home do not have a pool. Very very disappointed.
- Ashleigh (10/5): Wonderful. It was beautiful all around and our host was very kind and welcoming. -
- Hennie (10/5): Exceptional - Having the entire property to our selfs, and being able to take our 4 legged friends along. There is really nothing negative regarding our stay. Quite and peacefull.... will definately recomend. There is nothing not to like.
- Amber (8/5): Very good -
- Colette (8/5): We enjoyed our stay it was a reall escape from the city. Rustic and artistic decor. - Very spacious and interesting decor. There was a very low hanging light as you step down to the passage leading to the toilets which my husband hit his head on repeatedly. The kitchen only had three pans and no pots cook in, unless we just couldn’t find them?
- Nigel (10/5): A perfect rustic place for a tranquil break - the theme is old fashioned and unmodernised and everything works ! (including the wifi) ... exceptional quiet setting with friendly but respectful hosts and rabbits . everything good
- Tersia (9/5): Awesome! - Everything was really great, no complaints at all.
Great location, has everything you need and I could take my dog ❤️ Maybe it’s time for 1 or 2 new mattresses
- Du (9/5): Superb -
- Tebogo (10/5): Perfect for an escape from the city… close enough to not dread the drive back home. This is definitely a home away from - I like how cosy, homely it is. It was clean and we were not left wanting. Kitchen is well equipped with necessary utensils.
There are electric blankets for each bed and the water was always hot whenever we needed to shower.
It’s close to amenities…we even went for a hike in the morning.
The owner who lives on the property was very helpful whenever we needed his assistance. He only appeared when needed.
There is a fireplace indoors and boma outdoors.
I have an appreciation for antiques so I loved the detail There was nothing I didn’t like
The only thing is that 1/5 of the friends group is a minimalist and she didn’t appreciate the Knick knacks around the home
- Makentse (10/5): If you looking for a place to disconnect and be in solitude, this is the place - The vintage decor, you can see that effort was put in to keep the theme aligned throughout the entire place. And the price is great for that location. Special mention to Jan, his such a great host.
- Jacqueline (10/5): Wonderful home with full of character. - The home has a lot of character and it is massive! It was just my husband and I but you could easily holiday there with a full family (There are 3 single beds as well). The great thing about this place, if how much there is to explore within the house, it was so many relics from years ago and interesting books to read. The furniture reminds me of my Grandma's home, in the best way possible. The outside area was the winner for me, so much space to relax and take in the stillness. There is also a large braai area. It is situated far away from the noise of the city. Very relaxing if you looking to get out of noisy Joburg. Oom Jan was especially welcoming, he made me feel very much "at home". Nothing comes to mind.
- Jegan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Thiloshni (10/5): Hidden Gem in Magaliesburg - The host was amazing, and very helpful.
The stay was excellent and I had a great time.
- Vincent (9/5): A rustic old charm - This place exudes charm all over.If you're looking for an unpretentious, unique experience, this is it.From the old-school yet intriguing decor to the space, you feel like you've stepped into another era..I loved the honesty of it all, what you see in the pictures is exactly what you get-no frills-no presence to be what it's not.A rustic old farmhouse beautifully decorated with unique old pieces and a lapa to die for (guess that's where the name comes from)
Jan is an excellent host. He's there to attend to all your needs without being overbearing.Found him very humble, and I enjoyed our small chats.
There's tons of books to read from if you want to indulge and DVDs if you're a movie person, but I guess many people wouldn't care much for those as you're there to unwind.
I totally loved the experience and would definitely do it again to get away from our busy and strainous lives in the city. Unfortunately, it was too cold for a swim in the unique pool.
- Barend (10/5): Exceptional -
- Minenhle (10/5): It was a great stay! - I loved everything, the rustic interior, the outside living room, the braai area with an additional place to put fire (we had our own little boma setup :)- perfect for winter nights) for the price we paid we got everything, the place has everything you need in a self catering apartment (even things you didn't think you wouldn't need), wish to come back here in summer and enjoy the place more! The kids loved it! We just felt close to nature in this place, there cute bunny rabbits running around.
It's ideal for a couple with kids as the sleeping area is open plan and just one bedroom with a barn door. Or a group of friends would love the place. The hosts were also great, Odette and Jan. I really can't think of anything I did not like except maybe for loadshedding :) which was well prepared for. The unit provides the necessities for load shedding and there is a solar light in the main room.
- Anisha (10/5): Cosy and relaxing space - It was quiet and extremely peaceful. We had a relaxed and chilled weekend - exactly what we needed. Loved all the antiques which gave the space a very special vibe. Nothing at all.
- Dianemostert (9/5): Superb - Was a nice break away from the hustle and bustle at home. Peacefull and comfortable
- Ian (9/5): Superb - Stayed here for 2 nights with wife and 2x kids. We were attending a wedding nearby, so was the perfect location. Jan was so accommodating with us having to drop bags before attending the afternoon wedding, and granting late access coming back to the property after the party.
The area was perfectly located for sight seeing around the game farms, etc.
The property decor is unique, if you take the time to walk around the property and appreciate the effort that has been put into collecting all the bits and pieces, it really is remarkable.
Will definitely stay again in the future.
- Kathy (10/5): As above. - Beautiful surroundings and close to great restaurants and shopping. This self catering facility has everything you can possibly need for a relaxing holiday with Family. Jan, our Host was extremely helpful and welcoming. We will definitely be back to this wee bit of paradise. N/A
- Estee (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ellerbeck (8/5): Very good - It felt like home.
Lovely and peaceful, great escape for a weekend away to recharge.
- Quintus (10/5): Come for a weekend and leave a piece of your soul behind! - There's nothing about the Lazy lapa that wasn't perfect. Jan was the perfect host...the tranquillity was exceptional, and we couldn't ask for a better family weekend. Close to so many great family outings. We shall return soon!
- Mark (8/5): Very good -
- Mabatho (10/5): Exceptional - The splash pool, quiteness....a hide out from busy life...a perfect place for relaxation, reconnect and restore your life Nothing really
- Janine (10/5): Exceptional - Love all the effort that has gone into the details in this. Everyday there is something new that you notice! Not applicable
- Charné (6/5): Pleasant - It is not private at all.
Right next to a permanent house
Everything needs an upgrade
Water tanker was there for 2.5 hours filling up the water- again no privacy during our time on Saturday.
Matress in main bed room is old and needs new bedding.
Pictures does not reflect the reality of the environment.
Shower pressure is none, not sure if it was a water issue.
- Steve (9/5): Peaceful Lapa stay - This is a fantastic large space with so much interesting mosaic work and collectibles throughout. Jan was a great host. We dined at the nearby Black Horse Brewery which was terrific too. Something to make ground coffee with would be good (French press etc) - but that is minor as there is otherwise so much kitchen kit available.
- Sue (8/5): Enjoyed it all, the decor is very unusual and interesting, It was very well equipped - Self catering The beds could have been more comfortable
- Pandora (9/5): Homely place, great for a family. - The Lazy Lapa has comfortable beds, lovely areas to relax and is prepared for the inevitable load shedding as they stock candles, torches and a gas stove as well
as good communication of the schedule from the owners. The decor was interesting and intricate, with different mosaics around every corner.
Bedding and environment very clean and comfortable. I was surprised by the check in time being at 15:00, as it was later than other places I've stayed but it gave us an opportunity to explore the area and wait out the rain.
- Vivienne (10/5): Exceptional - Privacy, space, comfort in a home full of heart. The outdoor lapa lounge is the most relaxing space with gorgeous birdsong.
- Jayne (9/5): Relaxing weekend - Lovely and peaceful.
Quirky decor, loved looking at all the antiques and bits and pieces.
A chilled weekend exactly what we were looking for. Fridge could've been bigger.
- Tatiana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jr (9/5): Superb - art deco, peace and quiet not staying longer
- Sandra (8/5): Very pleasant - No breakfast offered As it is not advertised as luxury accommodation, I did not expect luxury.
It was simple and comfortable.
- Angelina06 (8/5): Very good -
- Kaiser (9/5): An exquisite breakaway! - The location, the clean and very creatively decorated environment and the friendly host. N/A
- Lorraine (9/5): Superb -
- Viyashni (9/5): Breakaway - Oom Jan was friendly and helpful at all times.
The accomodation had character with an authentic vintage feel . It is a peaceful and relaxing "home" away from the city.
There was plenty of books and games to keep us entertained. The gravel road wasnt ideal for a sedan vehicle.
- Marlene (9/5): Superb -
- Elmarie (10/5): Exceptional - The facilities, the area. The home is stunning. Everything you need is there. The attention to detail in the interior design of the home. Nothing.
