The place is very clean and well-maintained, and it truly gives you a “home away from home” feeling. The staff are incredibly kind, friendly, and always ready to help with anything you need. The location is perfect—everything is easily reachable on foot, and there are plenty of activities nearby to enjoy. I would definitely recommend this hostel to anyone looking for a comfortable and welcoming place to stay!

Amelie (10/5): Perfekter erster Stop in Sri Lanka! - Das Hostel ist sehr sauber, die Lage ist perfekt, man ist in einer Minute am Meer. Da Personal ist super lieb, bei allen Fragen da. Es werden zwei Sportkurse am Tag angeboten, außerdem ist ein kleiner Fitnessbereich immer verfügbar. Die Küche ist schön groß. Wir hatten ein Family Dinner zusammen, das war sehr gut, um neue Leute kennenzulernen.

Clean and comfortable room which was nice after travelling in Asia a long time and being used to not so nice rooms, these ones are as good as they look in the photos. Staff are helpful/friendly and the relaxing area is a nice place to chill.

Airconditioned room 24hrs Rooms not packed with bunk beds are very comfortable and spacious Bedmattress very very high quality thick and provides very deeo relaxing feeling Yoga class mornings included. Games. Large spaces to relax and meet people. Staff very welcome always somone is on site to help and assist with anything. Good community were a solo traveler like me found new friends and had a great experince. All was good, and staff told me they are investing even more in the place to make the place even better.

The staff were so friendly and helpful and very encouraging with the social events. The room was freezing!! You can’t control the air conditioning which I can understand sharing with others. Only 1 bathroom in a room of 6 girls wasn’t ideal.

Marion A.J. (10/5): lovely place to surf and rest and chill - Beautiful start to my stay in Sri Lanka! The hostel is very social yet the rooms remote from the social areas, so I could recover from the long trip and jetlag in a quiet and comfy bed. The room was always fresh and clean, the hostel is very spacious, with little chilling spaces full of jungle noises and incense smells. The hostel is surrounded by lots of nice restaurants and cafes, the main surfing point is only 5 minutes walking, and turtle beach a little less than 10 minutes so I could always come back for a little rest and friendly encounters between my surf sessions and wanderings. nothing.

Giulia (7/5): Good - Location is great and the staff is absolutely amazing. Food serve is delicious also! Rooms are spacious and beds really comfy. Also the place is very big and you have a lot of places to hang out and socialize but without forcing it. The vibe in general is great! I ended up in a particularly messy room with people staying there long term and over NYE so the room and bathroom were not properly cleaned, but I think it was more of an exception. I would add some curtains to the beds for privacy though if possible.

The location is great, the beach is just across the road, the beach where you can swim with huge turtles is just couples minutes walking, lots of shops and cafes around. The guys in the hostel are super nice and kind and provide with all the necessary information. The rooms are cozy and clean and fresh. The bed is comfortable with snow white bed linen. What does a traveller need? Just a home away from home. And Hummus hostel is exactly like this

Marina (10/5): Exceptional - best hostel in hikkaduwa :) our private room was big, super clean and comfortable, I had the best shower in sri lanka, with hot water!! the hostel is also big and has many spaces to chill, do yoga, playing games (they have an amazing beerpong ;)) you will never be bored! there’s also a restaurant and a salon downstairs, I dif my hair there and I couldn’t be happier with the result!! also oday, the owner, is just amazing🫶🏼 he is so welcoming and friendly, we really spend a good time with him! also, he recommended us the best places in hikkaduwa and nearby, so thanks to him we had delicious meals, saw the best sunsets and visited the best places in the city, I strongly recommend this hostel :) we’ll come back for sure!

Esther (7/5): Spacious and comfortable hostel - Pros: We stayed in a private room and the bed was really comfortable and the room was spacious. The staff were really friendly and the location was central. Cons: We were hoping for morning yoga, which was one of the reasons we booked this hostel but unfortunately the receptionist advised us they don’t offer this anymore. We also happened to come in a quiet spell as we hardly saw any other travellers and therefore it wasn’t a very social hostel.

It’s right by the main road, so it can get noisy when cars are driving by, but you don’t hear this noise from the rooms luckily.

Linda (10/5): Exceptional - The place was very clean, and everyone was astonishingly friendly. My boyfriend was sick, and they went above and beyond to make us/him feel comfortable. A really nice place we would recommend again. One of the best stays in Sri Lanka! It's just about 20min walk to Sigiriya, but you can also take a cheap tuktuk. Both are nice options:-) We were at the ground floor, where the wifi was very bad.

Kyra (8/5): Lovely central stay in beach town - Excellent location in the town so close to the beach and restaurants. I stayed in the female dorm which was comfortable, good air/con, comfy beds and good pillows. Your own outlet plug and light per bed is great (would be even more awesome to have curtains put in!). The ensuite was good to have, there were places to sit outside on the balcony which was nice. Wifi was excellent and worked well in the dorms too. Staff were friendly and helpful, always offered to make me a coffee. I liked the clothes drying racks in the room and outside, very handy to dry wet clothes. I met some lovely ladies in the dorm that I hung out with during my stay. The hostel wasn’t as social as I thought! The common areas were always quiet and I only met people through my dorm. Maybe some comfy couches in the common areas and planned social hostel activities would encourage more use of the common areas and meeting people. I paid for laundry service here and I’m not sure they used soap cause my clothes didn’t smell too fresh after which was disappointing. The ensuite bathroom in the dorm could use more tidying throughout the day or provide a squeegee for guests to wipe the water, the floor was always wet and sandy. Room needs some maintenance: Sink was clogged and wouldn’t drain, bathroom door doesn’t lock, the underbed locker on my bed was broken, the curtain rod also broke, some of the bunks could use some strengthening cause they really moved a lot when climbing onto the top bed.

Good central location to restaurants and the beach. Owner gave great recommendations for places to eat. Quite for a hostel but there was things going on if you felt like sociable. Nothing. Would love it if there was a pool but for the price we paid and the beach across the road it’s not necessary.

We stayed in a dorm room which was spacious, clean and comfortable definitely one of the best rooms we’ve stayed in during our trip. There’s a welcoming social seating area with super comfy chairs, various games are available too…food is served on an evening which is just delicious and a highlight of the stay! The location was very convenient and accessible from the main road. Nothing worth mentioning at all! Just a general recommendation for traveling in Sri Lanka, close the windows to avoid insects/mosquitos!

John (10/5): Perfect Hikkaduwa beach stay! Great host - Generous and very helpful host! Went out of his way to accomodate our middle of the night arrival! Free tea and coffee which was awesome and it’s walking distance to turtle beach in Hikkaduwa! Clean and comfortable spacious room! Would stay again!
Shaquila (10/5): Amazing stay at affordable prices - Everything! The staff made sure I was happy and attended to at all times, it made me feel safe and comfortable. The accomodation was clean bright and welcoming with a lot of chill space. The location was perfect, a cheap taxi away from surrounding areas and literally across the road from the beach which is beautiful also. A lot of food places near by but the hotel is building a restaurant and shisha lounge which will be completed soon and it’s just going to take this place to the next level! Plenty party places near by also. Good place to meet people as a solo traveller. Nothing
David (10/5): Exceptional - Incredible hostel! Facilities are great, AC and lots of room. Is a really beautiful space. I also love being able to wash/hang your own laundry. Highly recommend, would love to stay again.

Alexandre (10/5): A very nice surprise, for a few days stay in Hikkaduwa. - A new resort, in a central location. The room was very quiet, considering it's near the main road. Host is super kind. There is a motorbike parking area, free water and tea, lounge to rest, and the balconies are awesome. The restaurant could already have been open, but that's not the resort's fault, whatsoever.
