- Joanna (1/5): ZERO STARS - AVOID!! - What can we say? Absolutely disgusting. The poor cleanliness is from more than previous guests.
Positive reviews for this are mind boggling. We booked a place to stay in Cambois from 1st-4thMay.
Only stayed one night (and that was only because we arrived at 10:40pm).
It was very dirty. The bed had been changed toilet shower, and sink cleaned and work top just about wiped, that's it!
Carpets not hoovered, dirty greasy kitchen door handles, grease in microwave front (didnt open it!) dirty greasy lampshades, filthy windows, crumbs, toothpaste in toothbrush holder, dirty toilet brush with a pube on the floor behind it. Bathroom sink was on legs and under it hadn't been cleaned for god knows how long. Stained bath mat, a pringles wrapper stuffed halfway down one of the dining chairs that had crumbs on. A clothes tag and dog hair on a cushion on the bedroom window seat.
Oh yes, a pair of dirty underpants in the dusty bedroom drawers.
I don't go around with white gloves, but come on!
It needs a DEEP CLEAN, offering to send a cleaner back was unacceptable. If they can't clean with it empty, it can't be cleaned to a decent standard with our stuff in. Wouldn't trust a disgruntled cleaner around our stuff, including food anyway!
Instead of apologising, being horrified and refunding us the 2 nights we didn't stay, they refused and if they say no, booking.com won't refund, despite the call handler says pics were disgusting and they wouldn't stay there either. They are obviously useless.
We may as well have transferred the cash and stayed home in our nice clean house and saved on the petrol.
I am now pursuing a refund through my credit card, against booking.com.
I have all WhatsApp messages between myself and the 'property manager' Victoria just to preempt a response saying we were rude or aggressive. The messages have been sent to booking.com.
I recommend avoiding this property like the plague and any of the other 14 properties she manages. Standards are obviously low.
- Braithwaite (10/5): - This is the 2nd time we've visited this maisonette, it's just wonderful. Everything you could possibly need and more. We made a full roast dinner whilst we were there on new year's day after we all went for a walk along the beach. Great location.
- Johanna (10/5): Great location - I loved the colour scheme it made it feel homely! Pet friendly and no extra charges which is always a plus. Right across the street, leas than a 3 min walk to Cambois beach. The property manager was quick to respond with any of my queries. None
- Linda (10/5): We had walks on the beach and back to the maisonette, it was a perfect few days away at Christmas - The maisonette had everything we needed, along with being clean, cosy and comfortable.
- Johanna (10/5): -
- Lisa (8/5): Lovely space in the village close to the sea. - Plenty of space for relaxing, cooking and sleeping over two levels. All mod cons and toasty heating. Comfy beds. Great location next door to The Tute, ex miners institute now an arts hub and delightful. Some simple things like a few pens/pencils, kitchen roll would have been useful. The boiler ceased working but was quickly fixed.

- Kieran (3/5): - Very poor accommodation is not as described in other reviews. The bedding was dirty and hadn't been changed. The oven was dirty and not cleaned . I know pets are allowed but dog hair everywhere. The location with sea view was not what I expected, looked out on shrub land, you could view the sea from the top floor. We booked for 4 nights, stayed for 1, then went home
I have genius booking on this app and travel quite extensively. I don't leave many reviews but felt so let down by this accommodation and previous reviews I felt it was important
- Christine (10/5): I would recommend this property to anyone who appreciates a well thought out holiday stay, everything you may need has b - Very well presented, clean and comfortable. Nothing it was everything we expected.
- Anne-Marie (10/5): 3day trip w yhe dog - The overall maisonette was lovely. Nice decor, plenty of room in both bedrooms. Kitchen fitted out lovely. Bathroom lovely. Living room good size. N/A
- Margaret (10/5): A lovely apartment close to an underrated beach location. - Very spacious - clean - great bedrooms and views - well equipped kitchen - beautifully modernised apartment with a great feel The only criticism is that when we arrived there were no bin bags, washing up liquid or loo roll - although these were topped up on the second day (by which time we'd bought some already). Not a huge problem and we would absolutely recommend this apartment.
- James (5/5): - High spec finished decorating and quality furniture shame the place wasn't cleaned location great beach walks beautiful One room had not been cleaned, but I still had used towels on the floor bed, unchanged no Internet trays in cooker filthy, so couldn't use oven came home day early
- Stewart (10/5): - Everything. Clean and comfortable. Sea view. Everything in the house that you would need.
- Lisa (3/5): Couldn’t wait to get home - The wallpaper At first I thought it was very nice despite the entrance being dirty - but then I saw that the attention to detail was poor. Money has been spent on the place but the standard of decoration was very poor. Lovely wallpaper but spoilt by the poor standard of paintwork, rough walls painted over and skirtings - the skirting in the kitchen was dirty . Property had two steep staircases - not good if you need the bathroom from the top floor bedroom on a night - the whole place did not feel clean, kitchen worktops were dirty - the wooden floors were flexing beneath us and the bathroom toothbrush holder handnt been cleaned out. I went out onto the fire escape and immediately slipped on a broken tile covering a hole up on the landing of the fire escape. The fire escape needed attention - its a health and safety hazard. I was out there because i wanted to see if there was anywhere better for my dog to go out as the only outdoor area is a very small yard at the front. We never managed to get the TV to work despite instruction from the owner after I messaged . We left after 2 nights but we booked 3 - I hate to leave a bad review and I have informed the owner of our complaints - but her explanation for the filthy windows was not believeable I am afraid and she didnt address other issues . Sorry but I would not recommend - it needs some money spending to bring it up to standard . I have posted some pictures but could only put four on .
- Halls (8/5): A good option for a clean and comfortable beach side property on the Northumbrian coast - It was as described and photographed! The beach was nice, the area unique and close to Newcastle. Also not too far from the more Northern parts of Northumbrian coast. Comfortable, attractive and spacious. Nothing to dislike really.
The sea facing windows could have been cleaner and an additional tea towel would have been helpful.
- Sharples (8/5): Very good - It was very clean and a good location. We had an issue with a door handle on the first night but it was sorted within the hour when the locksmith came. As there were no local shops, a toilet roll and a bit of washing up liquid would have been good on arrival.
- Stephen (10/5): Great place to stay - Great stay convienient to local venues and great beach
Great for visiting nearby attractions
Really friendly locals Nothing
- Lynley (9/5): Superb - Lovely apartment, ideal for two couples and very well equipped. Upper bedroom is spacious and has nice view. Has everything you need including easy on street parking. Close to the sea and within short drive to shops, pubs etc at Blyth. Locality not exciting in itself but good for exploring the general area. Recommend a car for staying here.
- Braithwaite (10/5): Exceptional - What a. Wonderful place to stay. It's stunning inside, the decor is beautiful and the place is lovely and clean. I made a full Sunday roast for the family, the kitchen is equipped with everything needed to do this. We had one query whilst we were there that I messaged the owners, they were super quick to reply ( turned out one of us had unplugged the wifi box to charge their phone 🙄 )
We will definitely be returning to this amazing place when next up visiting our family 'up north'
- Maureen (9/5): Superb - It was a delightful apartment, well equipped with everything you needed. Lovely decor and peacefully quiet.
5 minute walk from the lovely beach and the sun shone!
- Charles (9/5): I will return! - Close to the beach, close to a very friendly club, close to a magnificent cafe and good walking nearby!
- Hall (9/5): Superb -
- Helen (9/5): Superb - Lovely quiet location with views over the sea and walks along the beach. Close to lots of coastal attractions and Morpeth. The apartment has everything you need and is nicely decorated. Very clean. It would have been useful to have a bit of a welcome sheet, with information about the apartment (such as bin day, any instructions or advice, etc.)and information about local amenities. The front lock was also a bit rusty and difficult to use.
- Neil (10/5): Very enjoyable 4 night stay. Warm and cosy. Will definitely be returning! - Warm, very well equipped, comfortable beds and tastefully decorated. 5 mins walk to a nice beach. No local shop and pub a mile away!
- William (9/5): Cambois, a hidden jewel - Location For older people there are two staircases which, if you have mobility difficulties, may pres.ent a challenge. Especially if you have a heavy suitcase. A second banisteron both staircase would go some way to address that.
- Stuart (10/5): Cambois apartment - Family of four with two kids. Lots of room, clean, very tidy and modern. Massive TV and all appliances you will need for a break. Easy access to the unsploit beauty of northumberland. Great stay and will certainly use again. Nothing, lovely apartment.
- Adele (10/5): Exceptional - Very trendy, cosy flat. Everything you needed was in there.
- Chris (8/5): Very good - Nicely presented and furnished property. Comfortable lounge and nicely finished new bathroom.
- Stacey (10/5): Fantastic stay - would definitely come here again. - We loved the way the property was decorated - especially the zebra themed bathroom. Property was nice and clean and had everything we needed. Settee and chair were really comfy. Our dog was very happy with the beach and the sausages from the cafe at the end of the street! Location was perfect for us but some may find it a little remote and quiet.
- Chris (9/5): Perfect for a short stay at Cambois. Very clean and tidy, -
- Kelly (10/5): Great stay, great host would use again without a shadow of a doubt - The apartment was spotlessly clean and very well equipped with great location Nothing
- Peter (8/5): Very good -
- Mounsey (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rebecca (9/5): A perfect little base for a break near the sea! - Everything you could need for a mini break was there. Beautifully decorated and quality equipment, kitchen etc
Host was very helpful and accommodating too. Very minor but when staying in the upstairs room it was a bit of a trek to the toilet downstairs. Not really a bit deal and would certainly not put me off staying again.
- Linda (9/5): Superb - Lovely apartment, beautifully decorated. Well equipped kitchen. 10min walk to great beach.
- Christina (10/5): A little gem for those wanting peace and solitude, to recharge the batteries! - Beautifully decorated, clean, lovely park / green space behind property, 2mins walk to wonderful cafe and 5mins walk to a quiet beach !
- Mounsey (10/5): Best stay iv had location and view was lush and all round property was outstanding - Everything was well presented & cosey Nothing apart from could of had a drainer for dishes other than that was great stay
