- Lucas (7/5): Moyen - En fait pour moi c’est toujours difficile d’être très critique au vu du prix qu’on a payé, c’est au centre les lits sont fermes mais font l’affaire. C’est un hébergement qui fait le travail pour une nuit c’est pas sale c’est pas nickel non plus. Le seul soucis qu’on a vraiment eu c’est ce que la chambre était en envahit de fourmis. Les prix pour des sorties dans la baie était plus intéressant avec le gérant que sur internet.

Breakfast was good, cooked by the family The map in booking shows the hotel is in fron of beach but there are new buildings in construction just in front. A lot of noise (cannot blaim the hotel for that)

- Zoe (8/5): Was okay - The room was good. Big, clean and comfortable beds. Bathroom was clean overall. Bathroom smelled weird all the time, we had to keep the door shut. The entire island as well as the Hotel got renovated while we stayed there so everything is currently a big construction project. Had to drive to different beaches a lot because no beach available in front of the Hotel. Staff was friendly but barely available. Called multiple times and waited a lot with no help.

- Brook (8/5): Great - Fabulous location and wonderful, friendly staff. The gentleman at the desk was great throughout our stay, ensuring we were comfortable and knew of everything we could do in the area. Most people go to Cat Ba for Lan Ha Bay and the national park so rarely spend many days in the area. Easy to walk to the beaches. The room was very spacious and the beds were comfortable. There were ants in our room and the hot water didn’t last very long - but it’s an island so I don’t expect a miracle. There is also construction in front of the hotel that will be there until 2027 I believe - not the hotels fault.

Bed was very very hard and the massive construction site opposite the hotel that goes 24 hours a day. This hotel is not opposite the water anymore.

- Joyce (5/5): We enjoyed getting out of the hotel to walk the streets, to check out the market places, to dune, to cruise, more than s - There are 12 level, and level 12 gave a paranomic view of the sea, the beach. Now the beach is still under reclamation, so the view wasnt as spectaclar as we expected. But still, the night street scene was fantastic from Level 12. There’s hot and cold water for bath and face wash. The closet has no hanging clothes facilities, the 4 rooms we stayed, the closet has no clothes hanging rod, no hangers. The breakfast is only that regular Vietnamese sandwich and, either coffee or tea, with or without milk. No choice, no fruits.

Room was big, clean and had two beds (which I didn’t need - but was great none the less!) Great location and convenient to explore everywhere on Cat Ba island. - Trong (10/5): A delightful stay with stunning sea views, delicious traditional Vietnamese breakfasts - I recently had a 5-day stay at the Thái Bảo New Way Hotel and was very pleased with my experience. I booked the room through booking.com at a very reasonable price. The hotel offers a delicious traditional Vietnamese breakfast, with dishes like Vietnamese rice noodles (bún) or Vietnamese flat noodles (bánh đa) that were truly delightful. My room had a stunning sea view, which provided a relaxing and pleasant atmosphere. The hotel staff were also very friendly and helpful. If you need a continental breakfast, just let the staff know, and they will prepare it for you. I will definitely return for future vacations and will recommend this hotel to my friends and family. The elevator can be a bit slow when many guests are using it at the same time.

Amazing free breakfast, the best I've had in Vietnam so far. options to choose from eggs, banh mi, noodles, pancakes, soup, Vietnamese coffee, tea and juice. Tasted super yummy. 3. Comfortable beds with towels, blankets, toothbrush/tooth paste provided. 4. Early check-in at no extra charge, provided when arrived from Hanoi at 11am, which was helpful 1. Wifi wasn't very reliable or super fast, was hard to stream any vidoes. Not a deal breaker but if you are working from here, video calls could be an issue. 2. Showers although had hot water, the pressure was way too low. Minor complaint but not a show stopper 3. Dorm beds have no privacy. Huge room with 28 beds but beds don't have privacy curtains

Excellent location, with nice restaurants and cafes nearby. Room was big and confortable. The only downside was the breakfast, could be better.

- Prins (10/5): The hotel is worth the price; nothing fancy, but it was clean and we felt comfortable - We had 3 twin beds, and we all slept well. The receptionist is very friendly and helped us book a motorbike for three days. The first day, the motorbike ended up not working while we were out of town, and when we called the number painted on the bike, they came within ten minutes with another motorbike for us. The hotel gave us a discount for the inconvenience. We received free breakfast with our stay; we had several choices for food and drinks. The bread was hard/stale, but everything else was delicious. We didn't book any excursions through the hotel, so can not comment on that. Overall, we are very pleased with our stay and would book again here!

Air con and fan available but not used during our stay due to cooler weather! The shower was brilliant with good temperatures and water pressure. Free breakfast is served 7-9am so slightly on the earlier side but was tasty albeit simple.

- Rubén (2/5): One of the worst Hotels I ever visited - Good Location, but literally the only good thing The worst issue were the bed sheets: really dirty, smelled like used. We couldn't sleep thinking who slept there before... No water pressure to take a shower. The bathroom was scary (that's why they don't have photos...) The owner was a very rude lady, uncapable of even saying yes or no in english. Not interested in foreigners, she just take it for granted. We came here based on the good reviews and good price, but it ended up being a scam for what we got. To be avoid
- Globetrotter118 (7/5): Hotel with great potential - In theory the hotel is fantastic and could easily have been a clear 10, but there were a few things . Big and clean room with seaview. Kettle in the room. Lots of toiletries supplied. Good WiFi. Excellent location. Fantastic helpful English speaking staff who helped me a lot. Aircon not working. Yes the weather wasn't hot, but the room was very damp. The towel I used on my first night still wasn't dry after 3 days, and wet clothes from the boat trip Never dried up. Need the aircon to dry the air in the room. It was an electricity cut and the elevator didn't work. I wanted to walk down the steps, but only got to the 2nd floor. Then there was no further way down. The emergency exit pointed towards a little room packed with stuff. REALLY! I was trapped in my room until electricity came back. Normally I support hotel restaurants, but although breakfast was excellent, eating dinner there, becam a one time only. I ordered fried vegetables and plain rice. Not really any hokus pokus, but I got a big plate of boiled cabbage. Cabbage ONLY, not anything like the colourful plate shown on the menu...and a lump of completely cold rice! Couldn't eat much.

He is super helpful and kind, he helped us with everything. We did the tour with them and we likes it a lot too. The accommodation is in the center, you have the yummy restaurant next door which is very good. Everything great and very cheap.

- Dominique (8/5): Very good - The service was excellent, the breakfast was pretty good, the view was amazing, and there were bottles of water and coffee for free in the room. Also, the mattress was very comfortable. The lady who works there even offered us some extra fruit, so people wise, it was perfect. The TV was in a place where it was impossible to watch from the bed. The duvet had some mold stains (but the cover and sheets were pristine, to be fair), the bed made all kinds of sounds with your slightest move, and the fridge was really loud. Also, you couldn't open one door of the wardrobe because the fridge was blocking it. There were no night stands.

Bao was the best, he is super friendly and he cares that we have a good time, the one day tour that he also helped us with transportation to Ninh Binh, offering us different options at very good princes. Without a doubt, we recommend it 100% and we would stay there again. Thank you so much for everything!!

- Michael (10/5): The hotel is quite good - Room is clean, service is quite good. The room has a TV, kettle, hair dryer, air conditioner, refrigerator. There is also ready-made coffee and lipton tea for customers. The hotel looks straight at the sea so you can watch the sunrise. However, the small room in the middle does not. Breakfast at the hotel is quite good but lunch and dinner are normal. From here, walking to Cat Co 1 beach is only about 300m and Cat Co 3 beach is 850m. As a 3-star hotel, the hotel has a generator. When Cat Ba had a power cut, there was still electricity to run the air conditioner.

- Carol (10/5): I would return! - There is a good quality price relation. The room is good, it has two beds where you sleep well, a refrigerator and a sink inside the room. In the morning you have included a typical Vietnamese sandwich (Banh mi) and a coffee or tea. Although I didn't need it because it wasn't hot, the air conditioning didn't work, that's why I give it 4 stars and not 5. It is located in the tourist area of the island, so within a few minutes walk you will find a variety of shops and restaurants

Book the bus for us, changed the cruise we booked so we would get picked up right after to a bus to hanoi. Let us change rooms without asking questions (shower hadn't warmed up yet in our first room) extremely low price and location is great. Prices both for rooms, bikes, busses and tours are great.

- Ickleg (9/5): A very memorable stay on Cat Ba Island - Location and view from my room was amazing both day and night. The french doors opened so you had a small balcony of sorts. I loved to have them open when I was in the room either listening or watching the world go by. Plenty of space and good facilities and the elevator of course came in very handy! You are on the doorstep of many cafes, restaurants and bars. The 3 main beaches are a maximum 30 minute stroll away. There was a choice of 6 breakfast items, although basic they were tasty enough to give you a good start to the day. They had plenty of information about tours, scooter rental and travel options. I took a 1 day Ha Long Bay cruise and wasn't dissapointed. Bao is such a friendly and polite host, he really seems to enjoy his work along with the family at New Way. I was a little bit sad to leave Cat Ba Island as i've made some great memories there.

- Murphy (5/5): Passable - Well located right on the strip for bars, restaurants and tours Property is very dated, rooms need facelift. Things are broken like the bathroom door. It’s not spotless by any means. Balcony door lets air/mosquitos in as it doesn’t close properly. Beds not too comfortable, quite hard. It took us a while to check In as at times no one is at the desk! Breakfast is beyond basic not a lot of choice and you order from a menu. Only ate it 2 of the 4 days as result. To be honest it’s cheap and cheerful for your stay in Cat Ba you can’t expect a lot more you get what you pay for.

I spend 6 nights here and would do it again. In the end, they forgot to put my laundry in the dryer the day I left.. so they sent it to Hanoi!! Super kind!
- Ozell (10/5): Highly recommend this wonderful place - We spent 3 nights in this hotel to visit Cat Ba, it was very good! Spacious private room with bathroom, no complaints about hygiene. Very good location, unbeatable quality/price ratio whether for the room or the activities (motorbike rental 3.5e/day, day boat trip in Ha Lan Bay for 15e...). Breakfast included at the Banh Mi stand at the end of the street: a coffee and a sandwich to start the day off right! One more star just for Bao, the receptionist, who is incredible! Very kind, smiling with impeccable English. I recommend 100% Nothing to dislike

It was a good stay, and you can't beat the location and price, of course. We had to move rooms once because of the noise from the elevator.

The hostel is more of a hotel and has great rooms and elevator. We also booked a boat cruise through them that we highly recommend (450K for 9 hours, kayak, bike tour, lunch). Thank you for a great stay No complaints what so ever!
