Guest Reviews
- Patricia (7/5): A relaxing stay. - Spacious cosy and comfortable. Nice touches with toiletries. Park ing was great. Instructions regarding codes etc were very clear. Nó heat ón at arrival time even though the temperature was low outside. Had to make contact to learn how to switch ón the heat.
Lighting was poor for reading. Nó bed side lamp
- Emily (9/5): Family break - Cosy accommodation with great decor and facilities with an easy walk into the town centre and secure car park. Nothing
- Gemma (8/5): -
- Clare (9/5): - Loved the location and the cosiness of the property. The lighting in the place was a little too dark but apart from that it was lovely
- Tracey (10/5): Fabulous - The cosy atmosphere of the apartment, decor was lovely and location fabulous I couldn’t find anything
- Tan (10/5): - It's private. NA
- Julie (10/5): A night stopover from Southampton to home - Very central location, secure parking. Apartment clean and comfortable. Great little find would be ideal for a longer stay also. Everything was great
- Carolyn (9/5): An excellent location for visiting Stratford. Easy access to shops and theatres. Nice to have one’s own space rather th - Central location. Everything clean and tidy. Comfortable beds. Free central parking. Not keen on the colour of the walls. Makes the place a bit gloomy. Similarly a lot of the lighting was a bit dim
- Alister (8/5): Very good apartment in a great location - The communication leading up to our stay was excellent, with access details given in good time. The location is perfect for access to Stratford and driving out of town, and the parking is generous. The apartment is comfortable and works well for three people. Overall, it is a good place to stay, probably more aligned to shorter (1 - 2 nights) bookings. The rooms are small. Seating four people in the sitting room was possible but not ideal, and space in the bedrooms was tight, with no drawer or shelf space for clothes. The washing machine would have been useful if there was somewhere to dry the clothes.
- Charlotte (9/5): - Lovely and spacious, yet still cosy. Really well laid out and in a great location.
- Denise (10/5): Lovely relaxing overnight stay in safe and comfortable accommodation - Fantastic location minutes from centre and theatre. Cosy, comfortable and secure accommodation. Easy to find and great parking arrangements
- Dan (10/5): - Great
- Sally (9/5): - Great accommodation. Good location with free parking.
- TRACy (7/5): Nice short break - Great location Bedrooms a little tight for size
Lighting throughout very poor when getting ready to go out with the use of vintage bulbs
Lack of mirrors

- Beverley (10/5): Good size and well decorated accommodation. Excellent host and great vfm - Dominic was quick to answer our emails. Also we were allowed to park at the property outside of the allotted times. This allowed us to enjoy a stress free visit in the area which made the whole visit exceptional.

- Lomax (10/5): Superb stay in Stratford! - Lovely relaxing spot which was a home from home. Loved the fact it had two bathrooms. It had all that we needed for our short theatre stay and was very central. It was great to have parking next to the accommodation and Dominic the host was very friendly and helpful.
- Lindsay (10/5): A lovely bolt hole! - This fabulous apartment was perfect for visiting Stratford. A great location for short walks into the town or to the theatre. It was clean and spacious, with everything needed. The parking facilities were so useful too. Dominic, who manages the apartment, was really lovely, very responsive, and very gracious. One of the best things from my point of view was the comfortable bed - I have fibromyalgia and a bad bed can make a huge impact when I'm away from home. What I didn't like was that I didn't book a longer stay. I will definitely be returning - soon!
- Tim (9/5): Good central location with attached private parking - Good value for central Stratford. Useful secure private parking. Room ceiling lights with fancy bulbs are dim.
- Clare (9/5): Superb -
- Terryl (9/5): Don't think of booking anywhere else in stratford! - Absolutely fabulous apartment, wonderful location, so many things left to make you feel at home.
Plenty of parking and great instructions from the host regarding all you need. We all enjoyed it so much..lots of space and thoughtful extras. Nothing, it was all wonderful.
- Olga (10/5): Exceptional -
- Melanie (8/5): Perfect place for the four of us and in a great location - Sweet apartment with very useful parking and an easy walk to the theatre There were quite a lot of different codes to get in various doors and gates but that information was very clear
- Deirdre (5/5): Pleasant apartment with inadequate security - The Bolte Hole was a nice self-contained flat on the ground floor of an old house, on a main street, close to most attractions with very comfortable and tasteful furnishings. Car parking was a bonus We experienced a very frightening and unfortunate incident where someone tried to break into the apartment on our first night. We were awoken at 3am by someone trying to force the rear door that leads from the carpark directly into the second bedroom where our daughter was sleeping. We called the police who said to barricade ourselves in until they got there! The intruder also tried to force the front door and cracked a pane of glass. We contacted our host the next morning who was shocked as we were and asked him to rectify the security measures which were present but not activated - the rear gate to the carpark was open and the side gate between front and rear of property not locked. No change occurred, making us quite anxious staying again the second night and overall we had very poor sleep over the whole weekend. Whilst the owner was not responsible for the random action of a nocturnal potentially violent intruder, we were very disappointed by the lack of concern and action of our host and non-response to our subsequent messages.
- William (4/5): Shame, has potential - The location and the parking The cleanliness and the broken bed
- Mark (5/5): Disappointment especially as it was my special birthday gift to my wife. - The location was excellent and the off road parking was perfect. The decoration was dark and depressing, the front door looked like a squat. The water was cold in the bathroom basins. The curtains were appalling cheap, damaged and provided inadequate privacy. The tv was too high for a low sofa.
- Gloria (8/5): Very good -
- Alice (10/5): Exceptional -
- Annette (9/5): An excellent location and lovely property with free parking. - We had free parking where many others charged extra and it was a short walk from an M&S Foodhall to get essential supplies. We were very near to the shops, restaurants and theatre but on a quiet road. It was so much better than I expected! The instructions to find the property were great. The people above us were late to bed and noisy, sadly, and in the morning the people next door were noisy outside the bedroom window 😣. But that is not the fault of the owner. It was not very easy to manage the lock to the front door or the side gate.
- Robert (10/5): It was a great stay and- perfect for our needs. - The house was well located in the centre of town within easy walking distance to all Stratford’s sites. We loved all the little personal touches like ice cream in the freezer to welcome us! The shower drain was blocked but was quickly sorted by the owner once we alerted him. They were very patient and attentive to our needs.
- Katarzyna (10/5): A comfortable, clean and handy płace to stay - The location was excellent. We were in Stratford for my brothers wedding, the bolt hole was within about half a mile, walking distance of the registry office and the hotel where the Reception was held. It was also very close to all the local landmarks, including the Shakespeare Theatre and all the amenities on the rover Avon. Although this time we didnt need parking, we had travelled on a minibus with some of the other wedding party, the parking at the bolt hole was secure with ample parking for all the apartaments.
We chose to stay at the bolt hole instead of the Reception hotel as i thought it would be more comfortable for my husband who hasnt been in good health for a while. We werent disappointed, it was very comfortable and clean. It was also well equiped with all the requirements of a kitchen. Plenty of towels too.
I had a few conversations with Dominic, the owner, he was very helpful and patient, even when i couldnt find information that he had forwarded to me re Keys etc. There was nothing really that we didnt like.
A few days more would have better.
- Rebecca (8/5): A great base for exploring Stratford upon Avon! Comfortable, clean and clean convenient! Excellent value for money, and - Generous space inclusive of kitchen/living area, excellent location and parking included. Fantastic value for money, and owner/staff were really helpful.
- Reece (8/5): Very good -
- Jw (10/5): 1 night stay at the Bolt Hole - Overall comfort n cleanliness. No hot water from sink of en-suite bathroom
- Elizabeth (8/5): Comfortable in a great location - Great location, very comfortable and easy to park Maybe leave towels out for use?
- Jeff (10/5): Charming, comfortable stay in the middle of Stratford upon Avon - Communication with the owner was clear and straightforward. Off street parking to the rear of the property made it easy to unpack. Access to the car park is easy, through a back door to the property.
The ambience is lovely, stage-set with eclectic lighting. The seating area is comfortable, with little touches like extra rugs.
The kitchen had everything we needed for our one night stay.
If you are in the main bedroom, be sure to open the door in the short hallway near the bed. It’s a delightful space.
Both bedrooms had double beds.
The location cannot be beaten; few minutes walk from the top end of Henley Street, the River Avon, and all the sights. Shakespeare’s birthplace is only minutes away. The on-the-wall heater for showering in the main bathroom caught us out, since we’d never used one before, so we both boiled and froze. Some instructions would have been good, because it wasn’t intuitive to use.
Lighting in the main bedroom is not conducive to reading in bed.
- Timothy (9/5): Superb -
- Nathan (10/5): Lovely time in Stratford-Upon-Avon with family brilliant location right next to Shakespeare centre - Easy to collect keys, lovely accommodation in a perfect location for Stratford-Upon-Avon All good!

- Ricky-lee (10/5): The Bolt Hole - Wow. What an exceptionally beautiful flat.
The Bolt Hole has a very comfortable, homely feeling to it from the moment you walk through the front door.
The level of cleanliness was amazing and the beds were very comfortable!
We also loved sitting out in the private little courtyard in the middle of the property !
I would highly recommend this to anybody who wishes to stay in Stratford!
10/10 on everything!
Thankyou so much, again, Dominic.
- Heulyn (10/5): Excellent flat and centrally located. Highly recommended. - The flat was cosy and clean with everything needed for our stay. Excellent location within walking distance to town centre and popular attrations. Parking was very convenient at the rear of the property.

Good quality bedding and everything you'd need in the kitchen and bathroom.

- Steven (8/5): Very good -
- Jamie (10/5): Lovely authentic and well presented accomodation. - Brilliantly presented.
- Tanya (10/5): Exceptional - Apartament was wonderful, can't fault it at all. Location was great. Enjoyed our stay. Probably own suggestion would be instructions for using the radiators given the time of year would have been helpful however Apartament was pretty warm Absolutely nothing
- Tracy (9/5): Cozy, clean, comfortable apartment - Comfortable, tastefully decorated, quiet location, clean. All perfect
- Antony (10/5): Great apartment - Lovely apartment, well decorated and kitted out. Perfectly placed for visiting central Stratford Upon Avon on foot and neighbouring areas by car. Minor point, but keypad on door is a little stiff to open.
- Jo (9/5): Just the ticket! - Beautifully decorated apartment, cosy, plenty of amenities provided, great location, handy for many things.
- Dave (10/5): It was perfect and will definitely recommend it to other family and friends. - The whole apartment is done to a very high standard with nice furnishings and decor. It was spotlessly clean and felt like home from home. The location is perfect as you are a stones through from the main high street and a short walk to the river and the Shakespeare theatre. There was nothing to dislike.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional - It was a great size apartment, beautifully appointed with everything you need and within walking distance to everything. The onsite parking also made the location perfect.
I wish we had stayed longer. Nothing to say hear... except queen size beds would be better.
- Jenny (9/5): Loved it. A perfect ‘bolt hole’ in a busy beautiful town. - Perfect location.
Exceptionally clean and stylish. Loved that there were real plants.
Dominic was so helpful and easy to contact. Thank you. Remembering codes for doors.
- Marianne (10/5): Perfect stay - Nice decor, very clean, close to the points of attractions. We thought it was easy to find and enter despite many codes. Dominic was helpful and easy to reach. Excellent accommodation It would be a good idea to add lights above the kitchen sink, there are many halogen lights you can stick under the cupboard above the sink. Also, it would be nice to have a mirror above the basin in en-suite bathroom.
- Somerton (9/5): Superb -
- Derek (10/5): Very enjoyable. - We arrived early and contacted the host. Text messaged and spoke to each other on the phone, which made it a very simple transition into the property. Location to town was great. Lighting in the place was a bit dim, but it suited the theme.
- Bronwyn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Henrietta (10/5): A beautiful comfortable short stay in a convenient location. - the decor was beautiful. very cosy place and comfortable beds. loved the secret outside space accessed from master bedroom. it was lovely that the dining table was all set up. plenty of towels and toilet paper/toiletries. Kitchen really well equipped and the numerous lamps .... well they were something else!!! nothing.
- Dennis (10/5): Great spot. - Well located and clean. Lots of spacious parking. Needs brighter/more kitchen lighting.
- Shivashish (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shadia (9/5): Superb - Well equipped kitchen and quality toiletries Beds very small but comfy
- Helen (8/5): Good decor and comfortable. good location - Very comfortable, with easy access to Stratford centre. Not applicable
- Natasha (9/5): Superb -
- Barry (8/5): Very good - The lighting throughout the property was very poor.
- Christopher (10/5): Very welcoming nice touches - Period features Nothing
- Barker (9/5): Great location - The location would be hard to beat. It's within a few minutes' walk to the tourist hotspots, such as Shakespeare's birthplace and the multitude of gift shops and eateries.
The accommodation is large and comfortable with a good kitchen/sitting area. One double bedroom has an ensuite and opens up to a small nook with seating. The other has access to a separate toilet and shower down the hallway.
Car parking is large and is at the rear of the building. It is enclosed by fencing and security gates. The unfortunate part about being on the bottom floor is that one is subjected to the clowns above.
In our case, the people above decided to communicate between rooms by yelling to one another. This ceased around 12:30 am. I wasn't happy, but you can't help how others behave. The accommodation wasn't at fault.
I do think £15 for early parking is a bit steep, considering that it's only 4 hours and the size of the car park could hold multiple vehicles.
Note: This £15 also allows access to the accommodation 2 hours earlier, which is why we accepted the offer.
- Peter (10/5): Great place to stay in Stratford - Amazing place, clean, fab décor, mini garden, great location, could see staying for weeks. Nothing, was amazing
- Kelly (10/5): Lovely, stylish property in excellent location! - Lovely flat, stylish and comfortable- excellent location for central Stratford. Would definitely stay again! Shout out to Dominic for being an amazing host and super helpful 😊 Nothing!
- Lynda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lucy (10/5): The property is just behind William Shakespeares birthplace, so very central. We had 3 nights and everything there was p - Very stylish, clean and plenty of room.
- Gray (9/5): A real pleasure. As mother and son it’s nice to have a sitting room to ourselves. Lighting fx are fabulous ( tho not so - Stylish and convenient An iron would have been nice. Inner keybox a bit complicated .
- Steve (8/5): Very good -
- Rachael (9/5): Superb -
- Paolo (9/5): Wonderful stay! - Everything was excellent. We spent just one night but it was really nice and relaxing. N/A
- Joanna (10/5): Perfect in any way. - Location was amazing. The house was just wow... so very very nice and cozy...
- Janet (8/5): Short and sweet. Easy to get to and from the theatre which was the reason for our visit. - Location suited us. Easy to book a taxi to the theatre (one friend in particular has difficulty walking and all three of us need to use walking sticks)
Comfy beds and settee. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. Kitchen facilities good.Wifi available. Everything on one level. Good parking area. Generally very quiet and peaceful. Using code to access the doors. The actual box probably needs replacing, seems rather old. We've used this system in many other places and not had a problem before but thankfully the owner was responsive -on the phone- to our request for assistance.
- Markéta (10/5): Exceptional - Dominik is a great host, always prepared to help and make you feel like at home.
The Bolt Hole is nicely decorated and sleeping just few houses from the birth place of Shakespeare... incredible.
It is quiet and we slept like at home.
We do hope to come back again.
- Aine (10/5): As above - Extremely central , immaculately clean, plenty of space , quiet, excellent safe free parking on site . Very hard to use apartment door key safe , otherwise absolutely perfect.
- Karen (10/5): Fabulous apartment for night out with friends in Stratford. - Location was fantastic, central to Stratford. Decor is very tasteful and apartment is spacious and was spotlessly clean. Communication beforehand with the host was excellent. Parking at rear of the property is secure behind electric coded gates.
- Anne-marie (10/5): Great host, great location, great interior space -- altogether a great spot! Book it! - The property owner Dominic is a great host. He was very easy to communicate with and made sure all our needs were met. Instructions for entering the parking and the property were clear and detailed. Having parking onsite is a big bonus. Building was very secure. We especially loved the location which can't be beat - right opposite Shakespeare's birthplace and a short walk to the lovely River Avon. The interior design details were very cool and the little outdoor patio was very serene. Comfortable beds, well-equipped kitchen, and the bathroom towels were better quality and fluffier than most luxury hotels! Can't find any fault!
- Jacqueline (9/5): Fabulous location, easy communication, and a lovely character-filled welcoming space. - Lovely touch having choc biscuits available on arrival Ideally provide info on how to lock the back door (the trick with the latch)- struggled with it for ages so were late for the theatre. However communication was quick to solve it when we called.
Beds were ok but not super comfy. Rooms were stuffy (a hot summer); no fans in living area room and couldn't open windows as no screens nor security. The bedroom fan was small but good enough to get by. All very good for the price though! And again, great communication in problem-solving.
- Nicholas (7/5): not bad - Great location, tastefully decorated was kind of smelly, with several air fresheners trying to cover up a musty damp smell. The air fresheners made us sneeze. we opened a window in the morning but a rotten egg smell came in. There was a lot of noise from above one of the bedrooms.
- Stephen (10/5): Super stay in a super apartment in a super location - Great fantastically decorated, clean and yet functional apartment. Super communication.
- Zoe (10/5): Spot on! Would definitely stay there again. - The property was very comfortable, clean and decorated to a high standard.
- Hobson (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ilaria (10/5): Exceptional - Super cozy and everything you need just where and when you need it! Loved the soft and perfumed towels
