- Ben (9/5): Brilliant location, slightly noisey if you want to get to bed early but didn’t bother us as we sat up listening to the l - Location was brilliant, apartment was very spacious. We didn’t use the kitchen as your so central. Sainsbury’s round the corner for supplies. The mixer on the shower didn’t work so it was just insanely hot. I informed the property so Should be sorted now. Other than that it was great. Would definitely stay again.

Hallway had a strange smell of cooked vegetables. Stayed in room 6 and there was a constant sound of what I can only describe as a humming generator. Pillows on the bed were lumpy and need replacing.

- Kent (7/5): Worth the downsides for the location - I didn't realise we had booked a hostel! But it didn't really effect our stay at all as we had a private bathroom. There is a kitchen to make tea & coffee and a microwave and crockery/cutlery etc The room was huge and really tastefully decorated, the bed was also really comfortable. The location could not be better, a few steps from stonegate, the minster, the shambles etc Staff were great and replied to emails promptly and helped when needed There was a strange smell in the hall and bathroom, a bit like cabbage! 🤣 The most obvious downfall of the property is that it's right above a nightclub. It was a bit annoying but we had earplugs and as long as your not going to bed early, it's not a HUGE problem. We would stay here again. It was quite expensive but it was the bank holiday weekend. The kitchen would benefit from a toaster for a cheap quick breakfast instead of heading out.

- Dave (7/5): A good location but basic accommodation, lacking the space and comfort suggested by the price! - The fort is ideally located for a short stay in York. Room was clean and beds were comfortable but narrow. We stayed in room 5. It felt cramped for two people. Was barely enough room for one person to walk around the room, let alone two people. The hanging rail was not sufficient for two people staying for more than one night. There was no room for bags/cases. Wasn’t sure whether we were able to use the kitchen facilities in the kitchenette, as the information provided did not mention, however, I’m sure we could have if needed. The noise from the bar below wasn’t a distraction for us, but I think it would be for some, especially as we needed to open the window because of the warm temperature of the Bank Holiday weekend. The fact ear plugs are provided suggests this has been an issue for others.

- Loren (9/5): A great space to stay in the heart of York - Well situated, and though it was louder in the evening being so close to a number of pubs etc, they did provide earplugs. It’s right in the town, so very close to amenities, and feels very secure with the keypad lock for entry to the building. Room was a little smaller than anticipated and would have loved a mini fridge and tea/coffee facilities that were not communal.

The staff who showed us to our room was very friendly The only thing I didn't like was that the mattress was an old style with springs and my back hurt the next morning. With all the memory foam mattresses available, it would take very little to buy new mattresses.

- Mark (5/5): Don't stay here if you're looking for a quiet location. - The room was comfortable and clean. The building is located immediately adjacent to several night clubs in the party zone of York; you can expect throbbing music into the wee hours.

Everything, from the outside its perfect and even inside looked great until you try to sleep and get coated in damp and mold. Complimentary earplugs says it all.

It was very loud from the streets and a wonderful busker. They provide ear plugs but to be honest I just tuned into the busker and opted to enjoy the street sounds

He estat a la tercera planta de l'edifici, que no té ascensor i són cinquanta-cinc esglaons que es fan feixucs de pujar. L'apartament és sota teulada I hi ha una finestra petita inaccesible al sostre de l'habitació que deixa entrar tota la claror al matí.

- Andrea (6/5): Centrally located, but not very comfortable. - The hotel is perfectly located for the middle of the old town city making it very convenient for all York attractions. The shower was nice, entry was very easy, and it was convenient to store our bags on check out. Unfortunately the central location means that it is very loud late into the night. Additionally the bed was very uncomfortable and lumpy. There is no one at the desk and you see no staff in the hotel during your stay.

We buzzed the door when we arrived and the friendly team let us check in early. I was worried about the reviews but our room was perfectly quiet, we stayed on a Tuesday though and the club downstairs was closed. Would definitely stay again, it's a great spot. Nothing, everything was perfect.

We got upgraded to an apartment which was very kind of the staff to do this. The apartment was fantastic stylish warm and comfortable. It even had milk for tea and water which was a lovely touch. - Jane (3/5): Too noisy to sleep - Central location This property is above a smoking garden and bar and there is no sound proofing. It literally sounds like the bar is in your bedroom. Unless you’re going on a night out and planning on going to bed at 4am there is no way you’re going to get a decent nights sleep here. It also wasn’t the cleanest. For nearly £150 a night I wouldn’t be back here again.

The location was amazing - right in the middle of everything! And the apartment was beautiful and cosy. Perfect. Nothing - would recommend people staying bring some good earplugs. We use loops so couldn’t hear a thing but the bars outside play music very late on the weekends so you’ll want some decent ones to get some sleep!
