Guest Reviews
- HUUZ (9/5): Lovely! - De leuke "Room with a view". We hebben de grotere zitkamer niet gebruikt.
Lekker bed. Ruim. Alles is aanwezig. Beetje weinig (wel lekker warm) water uit de douche.
- Weeksie (9/5): Very relaxing place, home from home. Thrilled with our goodies. - Quirky and comfortable. Fully functional and self contained flat. Our host Sheila left some beautiful Welsh goodies as a welcome. Very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Nothing.
Meget autentisk lejlighed. Superb.
- Glenn (10/5): best accommodation in the 2mths we have been travelling so far - and I suspect it will retain that status for the remain - Absolutely everything - Sheila is a wonderful host .. every detail done to perfection - the location - the comfort …. Cannot fault it! Not applicable
- Andrew (10/5): - Delightful rural location with fabulous views.
Very helpful and friendly host, with personal touches such as fresh flowers to enhance the stay.
- Calum (10/5): Book without hesitation, this was a wonderful stay. - Wonderful location, walking distance from the mountains. Lovely touches, and lots of room! Nothing.
- Charlotte (10/5): Fantastic attention to detail. - The attention to detail. A great welcome pack! It was lovely to have the Christmas decorations up. Fantastic location and lots of helpful info to plan your visit. Really nice to have so much space. Finished to a very high standard. Delicious Welsh cakes and mince pies- thank you! A relatively minor thing, but the high windows between the bathroom and the bedroom could be disturbing in the night if the bathroom light was turned on.
- Julie (8/5): - Cosy, well equipped home from home. We liked the decor. The extra living space. The comfy bed. The wonderful views. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you. The lighting. Not enough lights in the living room. Two sofas, but you can only sit and read on one. As a person who doesn't see well I couldn't read much.
There was also a lack of electrical points. Probably the reason for the lack of lighting.
- Jackie (10/5): Fabulous home from home - Absolutely love this place - so much that each time we leave, we book again!
- Julie (10/5): Sheila is a fantastic host. Great touches like homemade Welsh cakes - Really spacious apartment .
Peaceful location
Clean & really comfortable bed
Great shower Nothing
- Lock (10/5): This fantastic stay offers ultimate comfort and space, perfect for exploring the stunning Brecon Bea - Lovely welcome basket. Lots of space. Loved the telescope bat detector and lots of maps and books of the area. The book for people to recommend there own restaurant's was a fantastic idea
- Josie (10/5): - Lovely place
With lots of lively touches to make you feel at home.
- Doug (10/5): -
- Jackie (10/5): I'd give it 11 if I could! - The owner Sheila had clearly gone above and beyond to make us feel welcome, with a lovely basket of homemade goodies and basics.
The accommodation is so well-furnished with everything you could want - clearly a lot of thought has gone into making sure your stay is as comfortable as possible.
The location is superb - I was riding from the Cantref Adventure Centre just opposite - and we took full advantage of the balcony offering wonderful views of the mountains and the gardens with a huge variety of birds to see.
The information / dining room is just bursting with details of all manner of activities and places to go/eat.
And to top it all? A really comfortable bed with duvet to match the season and alternatives available. The hairdryer even had a diffuser attachment available.
We loved it so much that on the day we left, I booked to return! Can't think of anything
- Kevin (10/5): Two nights at Top Floor for walking, breathing and Brecon Jazz Festival. - Quiet. Very very helpful lady. Everything set out and excellent welcome pack. Good advice on local walking routes into the town. Really quiet of the evening and night. Nothing to particularly dislike. Bats in the belfry next door but never managed to see any.
Gunstig geprijsd. Niets viel tegen.

- Angela (10/5): Exceptional - We had an amazing stay at the cantref House. The Host was super friendly and we had such a lovely welcome. Would recommend to anyone, who looks for a beautiful stay in the nature. Thanks for having us.
- Brian (10/5): A little piece of heaven in Wales - Location was just perfect, rural and very quiet which was ideal for my needs, it wasn't too far away from local amenities if you wanted to travel though. Sheila provided a welcome pack for my arrival and the best homemade apple juice I have ever had. The rooms were excellent in every way and had everything you could need for your stay.
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional - Fab apartment in a superb location. Nothing
- Ethan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elizabeth (10/5): We had a wonderful rest and wish we could have stayed longer - The location was idyllic and the flat was much bigger than expected. The host was very helpful and attentive. The Welsh cakes were delicious and we were grateful for such a generously stocked welcome basket.
- Bronwyn (9/5): A lovely retreat - great place to recharge our batteries after a few weeks on the road. - Our host Sheila was very helpful with all our requests and the welcome pack we more than generous and saved us a trip to the local town for supplies on our arrival day. The flat is tastefully decorated with lots of special touches and a lot of history. Views over the surrounding farmlands with mountain backdrops are a delight. The fire-escape stairway to access the flat is a little daunting on arrival but we were soon used to it.
- Julie (9/5): Exquisite apartment with everything you could need. - The house and its history, the views, listening to the birdsong, the peace and serenity, the walks in the Beacons and along the canal. Loved all the extra touches too including milk, juice, Welsh cakes and so much more. So many towels and flannels, the colour co-ordination, everything you needed was there including lots of information for getting out and about too. Sheila was so helpful with lots of advice and answered any questions we had. A perfect few days away indeed. The bed was a little soft for us but that’s down to our personal preference rather than quality, as on the whole we still had comfortable nights.
- Lisa (10/5): We had a wonderful stay in a beautiful apartment within beautiful surroundings. - The complimentary basket, bread and little extras touches were fantastic and welcoming. Nothing
- Ana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kirsty (10/5): A lovely new years escape, great walks from the apartment. - Everything! Fabulous welcome with home baked goodies. Great location and apartment had everything you would expect. Nothing
- Kwok (10/5): Beautiful cottage with amazing setup - Spacious with living room. Study room, kitchen and bedroom
Amazing view to the mountain Nothing
- Sonia (10/5): brilliant experience staying here, breath-taking mountain views, the best place for stargazing - I had a brilliant experience staying here, breath-taking mountain views, the best place for stargazing, the flat is nicely decorated, full of character, equipped with everything you could think of, perfect host, plenty of hiking routes to choose from.
- David (10/5): The best of country living - Cantref House exceeded our expectations. Not only did we have all we needed, there were lots of extras showing real care and thoughtfulness. It wasa home-from- home, and we recimmend it highly. There was nothing we did not like.
- Anna (10/5): Excellent location very comfortable and cosy - Location fabulous for hiking. Bed very comfortable. Shower great. Sheila makes you feel very welcome 🤗
- Ian (10/5): Excellent country hide away. Have no hesitation in recommending it. - Flat well appointed and comfortable with everything you could need inc washing machine, drier & dishwasher. Seperate study with large selection of books, local maps (even a spare compass) plus binos and telescope if you are into star gazing. Hosts were great, met us soon after arrival and before leaving. Couldn’t be more helpful. Wi-Fi is adequate rather than good but you are in the country. Narrow lanes on last 2 miles of approach- watch out for traffic. Lots of steps - would not suit someone with mobility problems.
- John (10/5): Excellent location and great base to explore the area. Owners friendly, welcoming and helpful - Clean and everything needed for a stay. The owner met us on arrival and there was a welcome tray of essentials for arrival. The location was in the countryside, very quiet and central to tour the area Nothing
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional - Best ever stayed at. Lots of room, phenominal kitchen, well equiped. Best shower ever, quiet, in an apple orchard..great bed.best welcome basket. 2 loung rooms. Views of brecons from most rooms and terace. You need a car if you stay here. 3 miles from town. It is a nice ride.
- David (10/5): Highly recommended - Spacious, comfortable and clean, with absolutely everything provided for a self catering stay. N/A
- Bianca (9/5): Fab little apartment in the heart of Brecon Beacons - Great location. Quirky and cute décor.
Lovely little welcome basket.
Well equipped kitchen.
Very relaxing stay.
- Kay (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely apartment, great location and views. Really well equipped. Sheila and Peter were lovely. Thank you for a really nice break.
- Judy (10/5): Beautiful accommodation in breath-taking surroundings and amazing hosts - First of all Sheila and her husband are such a kind and hospitable hosts. She even provides some local produce and goodies for you to enjoy. The flat is beautifully decorated and very cozy. You can enjoy the breath-taking view of the Beacons from your balcony or enjoy a picnic in the garden if it is warm enough. The area is very quiet and you can also do some stargazing if you are lucky enough to arrive during the new moon. Would definitely book again! There is nothing I disliked. I can only speak as part of a childfree couple, car owning couple though. I would definitely recommend some form of transport.
