- Sajini (10/5): -
- Scott (10/5): Just very relaxing in a small space. Great value for money. - We went for lunch at the Tooborac Hotel and Brewery, while we waited for the room to be ready. Amazing place. Beef Brisket burger is a must have. The locals told us about the pies, and the pale ale beers are amazing.
The breakfast we had was of sour dough bread and free range eggs for the chooks, cooked on the BBQ. There was also muesli options. For dinner we had left over steak sandwiches from the brewery, heated up on the BBQ.
Bed was comfy and the place was warm. We enjoyed going to sleep looking at the stars and waking up to the sun.
We also enjoyed picking Derek's brain about off grid set up's and his vision for his property. I would recommend to anyone interested in Tiny Homes, who wants some inspiration. The toilet is a bit tight, due to the off grid set up, which is the compromise of a Tiny home, but do not let that put you off. Once a fire is going in the court yard, your in a little peace of peace and quiet, which we really needed.

- David (9/5): - Outstanding, easy-going and genuine host.
- Keren (10/5): Will stay there again and again as it’s the perfect way to be off grid comfortable in an enjoyable space with a host tha - Everything - Derek is so accomodating / from tips and tricks on the area, super easy going and great coffee! We also had a power outage in the area (totally out of his control ) and within minutes we had a supply to plug our fridge from solar , lantern and hot water for our showers! Did not expect this service - but could not fault and wanted to recognise the care for his guests! Nothing.

- Irene (9/5): A relaxing get away with a generous host - The value of the experience - the tiny house with everything needed for a comfortable stay, including breakfast. The host was so generous I would have preferred the toilet in a separate room though I understand it’s part of saving space in a tiny house environment.
- Ryan (9/5): - Location, breakfast
- Mark (10/5): -
- Libby (7/5): Great setting. Well equipped tiny house - Breakfast and the garden view I found it difficult to negotiate around the vanity to the toilet
- Jess (10/5): Would definitely book this stay again! Has everything you need to stay comfortably. - Had everything we needed! A lot of thought has gone into this place. Breakfast options which were local & fresh. Big movie selection, comfortable sheets/bed, you can roam/explore the property - super amazing experience! Nothing! Everything was great :)
- Walker (9/5): Enjoyed our stay once again! - Derek's a great host and we love hearing about his plans for the place!
A fire, a bbq, lovely rustic surrounds, a hot shower and a comfy warm bed...what more do we need? :)
- Vanessa (10/5): Great escape! - Peaceful location and convenient.
I liked the 🔥 fire. It was very clean and comfortable.
And it has a nice outdoor courtyard
Pet friendly.
The host was lovely and great coffee provided. Small toilet area
- Kylie (10/5): - Super comfy bed and friendly host!
- Watts (10/5): Highly recommend this for a peaceful break - This is a great set up. A shipping container that has been well renovated into a small cabin. Beautiful spot with scenic views. It's so quiet, you can really enjoy nature.
Accommodation is really clean and the room is nicely set up.
The owner is a lovely man who made us feel very welcome and showed us around. He could not have been more helpful. Overall, I highly recommend Mia Mia House.
Due to the size of the cottage/cabin, there is no door between the toilet and the rest of the room. It wasn't a problem for us, but is good to note.
- Tony (10/5): Really enjoyable stay with an excellent host in Derek. Coffee was fantastic ! - Cosy facility in excellent location. N/A
- Lee (9/5): - Great little place, would highly recommend (for those that can handle small spaces!) It then offers great bang for buck (open fire, bbq, kitchenette food/utensils, cosy bed etc).
Great outdoor area and large umbrella was handy when lightly rained also, very cosy around the firepit!
Derek was a great host and loved the morning coffee/chat from the truck!
Plan to return :) Nothing really, it ticked alot of our boxes. Would just reiterate it IS a tiny house, as advertised.
Double bed is against 1 wall so only 1 side access.
Toilet is a tight fit but do-able...prefer to an out-house any day!!
- Max (10/5): Great escape with beautiful surroundings - Property was in a beautiful location, had everything you needed.
- Patrick (1/5): Worst experience from 50+ stays with booking.com - Updating my review since being harassed by the owner on my personal phone and through booking.com messaging. The stay itself was not great, not the worst either which was reflected in my original 5/10 review. Since posting the review owner made repeated phone calls and sent unpleasant texts to my personal phone and through booking.com. Completely unacceptable behaviour. Steer well clear of Derek and his sub-par lodgings unless you like paying a lot of money to drink Ant tea (kettle infested with ants, somehow my fault apparently) and having a couple of square metres of floor space.
- Robyn (1/5): Would not go there again - THE NEXT DDOOR NEIGHBOUR Size of it, It should mention Little in add. Lack of response of owner after trying to contact them. Lack of signage to know where we were - Mia Mia house on it or at the gate would be good. Could not get TV to work so it meant no comumunication for 3 day and no instructions of how to get it to work. Expected to have a least a micro to cook our food. To cold for us to sit outside at night. NO seating inside at all we had to eat sitting on the bed. Very glad we are very slim. We were very disappointed as it was to be a very special weekend away.
- Zarah (9/5): Superb - We had a very relaxing stay! The host was incredibly welcoming and gave us a tour of the place, which made us feel right at home. The space was beautiful—tastefully decorated and cozy, though a bit cramped in some areas. One of the highlights was the thoughtful gifts from the garden: fresh sourdough bread, tomatoes, zucchini, and eggs. It really made the stay feel special. Overall, a lovely experience with a warm, personal touch. Highly recommend!
- John (8/5): Very good -
- Susan (10/5): Just lovely. - What a fantastic location. Such a beautiful, peaceful atmosphere.
Such a fantastic introduction to the property on arrival. I would highly recommend staying at Mia Mia.
And the Coffee wow best coffee I have had in years.
Thank you so much Derek
- Kaye (8/5): Perfect for a night. Cute small space well done - Great location. Lots of birds and roaming chickens. Lovely breakfast. Quiet and a very comfy bed. Great outdoor space. It was really hot while there so didn’t get to use fire pit which looked great. Loved the candles as well as loving the aircon.
- Joel (8/5): Very good -
- Collier (10/5): A wonderful weekend away, thanks Derek! -
- Madison (10/5): If you’re looking for an amazing getaway…this is it! - The property was an absolute sanctuary peaceful, secluded, and exactly what I needed to unwind and recharge. It provided the perfect setting to relax and prepare for a big day at work the next morning. I wholeheartedly recommend this stay to anyone seeking tranquility and comfort, and I’m already looking forward to returning in the future! I can’t fault a thing
- Chints (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jeffrey (10/5): I’m going back! - Quiet, great outdoor area.

So peaceful, great for getaway if someone looking for a relaxing, rejuvenating accommodation this place is one of the few that will definitely not disappointing.
Biggest thanks to host Derek, from the warmth welcoming till the day we have left.
Thank you once again and we shall return.
- Ken (8/5): Derek was an amazing host for the container home accommodation with all you need in a small space - Derek was amazing. He was very attentive and extremely helpful when our travel plans unexpectedly changed. He looked after our needs, catering to dietary requirements, and gave us great suggestions on where to go. The Container accommodation is just that, a cute Container with all you need in a tiny volume. The outlook was lovely with the little courtyard a private outdoor room. Dog friendly :). Thanks Derek. Toilet is in the main space can be awkward!
- Jean-yves (8/5): Very good -
- Zakwan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rita (9/5): Superb -
- Pru (9/5): Good to get away - Derek was an excellent host. The fire was a lovely treat to help us to enjoy gazing at the stars. Slightly cramped bathroom space
- Alixandra (10/5): Beautiful house and property, great weekend escape. - We had an incredible time at the Mia Mia house. Derek is an exceptional host who puts in the extra mile to ensure you have a fantastic stay. Everything was well thought out and prepared for our arrival and Derek provides excellent recommendations and fantastic coffee. We also appreciated the fact that our dog was more than welcome to stay and we all felt very comfortable. We loved our stay and highly recommend to anyone.
- Anmay (10/5): Incredibly hospitable and has all basic necessities - Derek got us in super last minute (within 30 mins of booking) and was incredibly hospitable. The place was clean, neat, smelled great and had all the basic necessities you could need - everything was set and all within the very last minute time frame. Derek himself showed us around and even gave us some bread, eggs, and milk for our stay as well making a coffee in the morning. He had the fire ready to light for us too, everything was super convenient! He also had great local recommendations for food and sight seeing. The place was a small, cosy, tidy place and it was a comfortable stay (there was both a heating and a cooling system). Thanks so much for having us so last minute and still providing a wonderful stay.
- John (9/5): Superb -
- Scott (10/5): Exceptional - We both loved the everything about Mia Mia house, it had everything you could possibly need plus more. Derek is an excellent host and has plenty of time for his clients.

- Nathan (9/5): Welcomed with a smile a warm handshake and cosy accomodation. - As soon as we were welcomed by Derek we knew we were in for a treat. His property and the accomodation was just so cosy and perfect for a short break The toilet space was a little small but still functional
