Guest Reviews
- Michelle (10/5): - Amazing stay at The bolt hole. Very cool in the lovely cottage over this hot weekend and a perfect base for our family trip in the area with great hosts and easy check in. Nothing atal. Had seen a few reviews about shared garden and dogs and one of my boys hates dogs and even stroked these they were softies and nothing to put you off atal.
- Paul (8/5): Excellent stay - Good communication
Central area
Good accommodation
Clean and tidy
- Glyn (1/5): Morecambe is lovely - The property has been refurbished to a high standard. Plenty of nice details. Close to the sea. The property was located in a narrow rubbish lined street. The property next door was being refurbished and the builders were working every day including weekends hammering at the walls, playing loud music and shouting at each other. The property on the other side appears to be occupied by some drunken lowlife who spent the late nights shouting, swearing and kicking cans in the street outside.
Upon arrival we were told the back garden was communal. It also contained a lot of rubbish and building materials for the property next door. In addition to that we were told the neighbours opposite had two large dogs but they were friendly and they would get on ok with our dogs. No,that didn't happen. Our dog doesn't get along with other dogs and it was very difficult as he had nowhere to do his business.
The beds were too soft. Both myself and my wife suffered with sore backs during the stay and I had to sleep on the sofa... Or at least try to sleep when the neighbours weren't screaming at each other.
At the end of our stay we were chased down the street by the owner demanding we pay for the dogs and told us off as if we were naughty schoolchildren for not reading his messages. I have alerts switched off as they are annoying.
Whilst the booking.con photos show the property very well they were clearly taken by an estate agent who made them brighter and bigger than in real life. The property was so dark inside that I couldn't read any of the books I brought with me even with the lights on.
- Ed (8/5): Neil was a friendly, warm host with lots of knowledge and recommendations for the area regarding trips out, places to vi - Great location, quirky style and finishes to the property. Parking outside was a bonus. Could have been cleaner.
- Hester (9/5): Dog friendly house, a few steps from the beach - The accommodation is very dog friendly and we loved the location.
- Eileen (9/5): A lovely time in a great location - The cottage had amazing furniture. I liked all the quirky derails which clearly had some thought put into them. The beds were super comfy. I liked the old fashioned shared courtyard that was full of little birds too.
I love morecambe bay which is beautiful and only a few yards away, as is the brilliant book shop and lots of interesting little bars One slight problem that effected me but not my husband and brother. I'm partially sighted and I found the cottage dark.

- hannah (10/5): Can’t wait to come back! If you’re considering booking - do! - Fantastic stay here, place is super clean, with everything you could want! Ceilings weren’t low either which is a bonus as my partner is super tall!
Beds are very very comfy!! Neil is amazing host, from check in to check out everything was a breeze!! Can’t recommend enough!! Nothing! Everything was great, if I had to think hard of something - a suggestion would be the tv on a moveable arm so we could both see from sofa but easy fix by moving sofa slightly.
- BenEarnsh (10/5): - Very nice accommodation, shown around and friendly visit 😀. Would recommend . 👌 Nothing
- Linda (3/5): A little disappointing due to heating issues - Interia decor No hot water three mornings and no heating for three mornings in a row
- Jean (10/5): A lovely short break, like a home from home stay - A very responsive host to any questions. Beautiful cottage, so comfy and homely, would definitely stay again and also recommend. Great location too - on the seafront in a couple of minutes. Nothing - exactly what the description of the property said it was.
- Ashleigh (10/5): Lovely stay! - Beautifully done out and very welcoming! Loads of space and gorgeous interior design. Really friendly owners where nothing is too much trouble, and a great location by the town & seafront. We would return & highly recommend it to others!
- Suzanne (8/5): Great weekend in Morecambe - The location was excellent and parking was available. The house also had lots of amenities. The property was dimly lit.
The garden is shared, we were reassured that our dogs would be fine around the two dogs who use the shared garden however we felt we couldn’t risk letting ours out.
- Jane (8/5): - Good location and parking provided.
Very clean cottage.
Well equipped. Stairs very steep.
One way streets around cottage confusing at first.
- Vivienne (10/5): Very comfortable- we hope to return! - Quirky, but immaculately clean and well thought out cottage.
Neil was a welcoming and responsive host. Nothing
- Yasmin (8/5): Lovely place to stay, great hosts. - The location was great, right next to the beach. The hosts could not have been nicer, so accommodating and lovely with us, they met additional requests, answered questions and made us feel safe. The place was clean and the beds were very comfortable! It’s our fault that one of our dogs isn’t very friendly and it was a shared courtyard so we couldn’t use the garden at all as two big dogs were out there all the time. The stairs are quite steep so need to be careful with small children. We ran out of towels at the end and had to buy cleaning stuff so a few more bits to keep us going would have been nice but honestly the hosts were lovely.
- David (10/5): The Bolt Hole is an exceptional property and outstang value for money. Highly highly reccommend - Amazing value for money. Decor is out of this world and the beds are amazing. The neighbours have dogs and we absolutely loved them. They were so friendly, always wanted a pet and a cuddle. Everyone staying in the surrounding homes were so friendly and welcoming. It is genuinely like a home from home. Nothing at all.
- Joanne (9/5): Excellent accommodation in Morecombe - A great little cottage renovated to a very high standard. Very clean, comfortable beds and everything you need for your stay. Literally, a couple of minutes walk to the beach. Excellent location for anyone going to gigs at The Platform as it's 10 mins walked straight up the sea front. Would definitely recommend and stay here again if my husband and daughter are seeing bands at The Platform. Although the property has its own area in a shared garden/yard, i feel it should mention in the booking information that there are resident dogs that use this garden. The dogs were absolutely lovely and friendly, and had we stayed without bringing our own dog, this wouldn't have been a problem, but due to our dog not liking large dogs it ment that we couldn't use the garden during our stay which was a shame. This wouldn't put me off booking the property again as it's a gorgeous little house, but I wouldn't bring our dog. This is the only reason I scored the property 9/10 without the dogs it would have definitely been a 10/10 property.
- stewart (9/5): The stay was amazing, great break away. Nice people - Loved the cottage feel inside the property, the beds were amazingly comfortable & loved the style in general Nothing specifically, only suggestion I’d make would be the shower screen isn’t really long enough to stop the water splashing onto the floor when having a shower.
- Fiona (9/5): - Beautifully renovated.
Comfy beds
Very helpful owner A bit noisy
The yard at the back
- Harrison (10/5): We had a fantastic stay at the bolt hole, the cottage is cosy, full of character and is well equipped for all your needs - The cottage was very cosy, quirky, clean, a home away from home and finished to a very good standard Nothing
- Laura (9/5): Lovely clean and quirky cottage just a stones throw from the beach and main attractions of Morecambe - The cottage was in a great location, walking distance from the sea and main attractions. Neil was so helpful and gave great communication through our stay. The cottage was lovely and clean with a quirky edge to it. The beds were supper comfy too! Thank you for having us! 👍😁 Nothing
- David (10/5): We had an amazing stay at the Bolt Hole The host Neil was there to great us with information on the property and on hand - Everything was excellent and finished to a really high standard the bed one one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in There was nothing to dislike about the property
- Andy (9/5): The Bolt Hole - A lovely well designed cottage. It was a pleasure to meet our host Neil, who explained his design reasoning and his plans for his future project. Nothing to note
- Natalie (10/5): Exceptional - Property was lovely, well thought out and very clean. Owner was quick to respond to any questions. When we arrived we were made to feel very welcome.Would recommend if staying in Morecambe.
- Jacqui (10/5): Exceptional -
- Catherine (7/5): Good location, clean, comfortable accommodation and at a very competitive price. - Becky was very helpful on our arrival, the property was very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. Slightly brighter bulbs would have been good and some form of light in front of you in the kitchen - the 3 lights in the kitchen area are situated behind you and you are therefore blocking the light when preparing food.
- Dawn (10/5): Comfortable stay, very clean, no issues - Very clean Nothing
- Janet (9/5): The Bolt Hole, perfect Morecambe Bay retreat - Great location and Neil our host could not have been more helpful. This cottage is a combination of character and very high spec.
- Parkez (10/5): Morecambe Hidden Gem - Great facilities, very helpful team to greet you on arrival.
- Pauline (9/5): Well located cottage for The Bay - The Bolthole is a renovated Fisherman’s cottage, tastefully furnished and very close to The Bay. It is situated down a narrow side street. We were able to park outside the property and were issued with a parking permit on arrival. The host is very approachable and lives nearby. The stairs are fairly narrow, in keeping with the age of the cottage, so maybe not suitable for someone with mobility issues.
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional - Host very friendly and helpfull location spot on Nothing we didnt like
- Suzette (10/5): Exceptional - The Bolt Hole was extremely comfortable and stylish with many features to make your stay memorable. The kitchen was well equipped and the beds very comfortable. The owner had gone out of his way to ensure all your needs were met.
A good location, close to the beach and shops which were only a short distance away.
It was very dog friendly. Narrow streets could be tricky if not a confident driver. A parking permit is provided and we were able to park right outside the door.
- Woolley (10/5): Fantastic wkend break - We loved how unique this cottage was especially the fantastic comfy bed it's the best mattress we ve ever slept on and Neil was a great host giving us tips on where to take our dog for long off lead walks thankyou for a lovely wkend Neil ( can't wait to come back ) xx Nothing
- Lorna (10/5): If you need a place to stay the Bolt hole is the way to go. - I loved it. It's quirky attention to detail. Fantastic location to Morecambe. On top of that dog friendly. My Chihuahua Boss had a free run of the house. Neil and his team have been fantastic from start to finish. Great communication, easy going, trust me we'll be back next year with the clan.
The beds were so comfortable.I don't sleep well but I did over the weekend that naps were a must.
Having a washing machine and dishwasher made cleaning up a breeze.
The shower was amazing. That I had to shower last as my family took their time enjoying the rain fall showerhead. The sink was one of my favorite details. But go find out for yourself you won't be disappointed.
The welcome book is full of information on the local area. Things to do and places to eat.
Again thanks Neil, Becky, Martin and Freya. Big shout out to the dogs henry and Mia Miss the hugsxxx There's nothing to dislike at all.
- Victoria (9/5): 3 night family stay - Excellent location less than 5 minutes walk to the beach, two play areas, restaurants and pubs. Neil and the team were really helpful and responsive, fixed an issue we had with the TV straight away. Excellent facilities including washing machine, dishwasher, toaster, slow cooker, toastie/ waffle maker and board games. Beautifully appointed and decorated. The only thing that wasn't to our taste - the lighting downstairs was a little dim. But that wouldn't put us off returning.
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anthony (9/5): Superb -
- Angie (9/5): we would definitely go back - A really comfortable cottage with great facilities, we all slept really well and felt ‘at home’ there. In a great location for exploring the local area, we didn’t use our car at all which was good.
- Rebecca (10/5): Brilliant seaside stay at The Bolt Hole. - The Bolt Hole was in a great location & had great utilisation of space with tasteful decor throughout and everything you needed , especially with parking permit provided for our stay which was great. Plenty of cooking utensils and facilities and all sheets towels and bedding were immaculate and smelt lovely, even a towel for the dog.
Beds are super! comfy so great to get into after a day exploring.
We would 100% stay again.
Neil was fantastic with how everything worked and couldn’t have been a more fantastic host.
Thank-you for the most lovely stay we will most definitely be back!
We loved we could bring our family dog (£20 charge which we thought is great as it can be hard to find somewhere) we stayed as a family of 3 plus dog including our 1.5 year old son also, Neil provided us a travel cot which was fantastic.
- Lindsay-jane (10/5): Everything I wanted, needed and hoped for, the Bolt Hole was perfect for us - The Bolt Hole is beautiful and cosy. It is the home away from home that you want to take home. Every aspect is lovingly thought out. It looks fantastic and does what it says on the tin by providing everything you need and an exceptional level of comfort. I could say there was no teapot BUT our wonderful host got one for me when I mentioned it and included a tea cosy!
- Steve (9/5): Enjoyable short break to the seaside with lots of comfort and security in a traditional cottage. - Traditional fisherman’s cottage superbly renovated . Comfortable, superb beds, every facility…TV, w/machine, dishwasher,m/wave, cooker/ hob. Excellent bedding and towels. Parking and DOG FRIENDLY. Close to esplanades and local cafe and nice pop up pub. Good service/ contact with owner. We felt secure and safe in the area We are elderly and the tight stairs were a challenge.
- Anita (10/5): Exceptional - Clean and well decorated. Comfortable beds so a good nights sleep was had by all.
- Samantha (10/5): Very chilled felt comfortable staying in this property. - The property itself was just amazing the inside was done to a high standard. Very clean very comfortable had everything we needed for the weekend we were there. The location was brilliant everything was within walking distance. Can’t think of anything can’t fault it .
- Kimberley (10/5): Exceptional - The Bolt Hole is a beautiful house and has everything you could want and need. The finishing of the house is stunning. Neil the owner was amazing so friendly and helpful. We can't wait to stay again. 🙂
- Chris (10/5): Amazing 🤩 - Wow well what can we say such a beautiful place to stay, such a wonderful little hidden gem. Everything was perfect & so comfortable, perfect spot as so close to the beach which our dog adored & lovely walks. Met on arrival & again when we were leaving, very helpful owners & we will certainly be coming back & will be recommending this beautiful cottage to our friends & family 😁 There was nothing to dislike 👎 everything was perfect
- Kelly (10/5): Stunning, well relaxing place, everything you need within 5 mins walk. Beautiful well planned and thought out cottage, w - First impression really nice, inside wow. Quality of furnishings, spotlessly clean, location central. Everything you needed. Extra tv device for 100s of channels/programmes . Very welcoming host met on arrival. Beds are amazing and top quality linen. Little hidden GEM Nothing
- Marinus (10/5): Exceptional - Was met at the door as soon as I arrived

- Carl (10/5): The property and location was superb and Neil couldn’t have done anymore for us to make us feel welcome and ensured we h - It was in a great location, very close to the promenade, bars and train station.
It was very cosy, always warm and the beds were crazy comfortable! Nothing to add here. We had everything we needed
- Rachel (10/5): Already looking to go back and stay again! - Neil was there to meet us on arrival and had a parking space outside. House was lovely. Really beautiful lighting and super comfy beds. Everything done to a really high standard. Underfloor heating downstairs made it really comfy on the cold days we were there for. Nothing we didn’t like, but if we had found anything, I know it would have been sorted straight away as had great communication from Neil.
- Philip (10/5): Great New Year's Eve stay - Lovely modern house stone throw from the seafront. Kept well informed from the host from start to finish. Would not hesitate to recommend to family and friends.
- Louise (8/5): Good location near seafront and town centre. Very nicely presented - Location near the seafront, furnishings and furniture and decor to a high standard, comfy beds, accept and welcome dogs The wooden staircase up to bathroom and bedrooms very steep
- Spencer (10/5): Absolutely lovely, host was a delight and we'll come back!! - The house is beautiful, really cosy and has everything you could need. It's only a hop away from the main beach front of Morcombe and walkable to so many things. The beds are exceptionally comfy and just everything is lovely and cosy. Underfloor heating throughout the downstairs is a wee bonus! Unfortunately there is a pub a couple of streets over and I think there was an event or something the Fri and Sat night while we stayed and the people coming out where quite noisy till the early hours but I had earplugs with me. Parking is along very narrow streets, I have a very big car so it was slightly iffy but would be fine in a normal sized car.
- Patrick (10/5): A Little Gem - This place is a little gem. Ideal for a few days away.
The heated stone floor gives the place a lovely feel and makes it very cosy. The beds are extremely comfortable too.
The location is good for both staying in and around the Morcambe Bay area or travelling up into the Lakes.
We would definitely recommend it.
- Linda (10/5): The Bolt hole - The cottage was warm cosy. Ideally situated near the seafront. It had underfloor heating. Very clean had everything you needed for your stay.we took 2 dogs which loved the beach.Neil the host was very welcoming and friendly and helpful. Plenty of restaurants and pubs nearby dog friendly. Loved our stay.would definitely book again.❤️❤️
- Katharine (10/5): Great location, beautiful cottage, comfy beds and great host. 10/10. - The host had been in touch with us prior to arrival, knew our approx. eta and made sure that they were available to let us in and show us around. I cannot think of anything that we would change about our stay.
- Samantha (8/5): Overall a lovely stay - Lovely quaint property in super location for the seaside and promenade. Very cosy with some exceptionally comfy beds! Very stylish finish and had everything we needed for our stay. Unfortunately there was a bad smell downstairs that was a bit off putting. Maintenance of property needs some attending too.
- Jane (10/5): A Stunning Cottage in the Heart of Morecambe - Beautifully renovated cottage located just a stone's throw from the Promenade. All mod cons. Limitless hot water. Super comfy beds & luxury bedding. Small outside space which we didn't use due to the time of year, but would be nice in Summer. Helpful host. What's not to like? We will definitely return. Nothing
- Karina (9/5): We had a great long weekend with the family. The property is centrally located and very comfortable. The property - Unique, well equipped and great location. Beds very comfy and the sheets were very good quality. Perfect for a great nights sleep. Nothing

- Jeremy (8/5): Communication from Neil was excellent and he ensured someone was there promptly to welcome us. - Nicely renovated period cottage with lots of character. Well equipped for two courses with comfortable beds and lovely furniture. Parking permit for one car very useful and plenty of spaces close to the property. Fridge (with small ice box) a bit small, and TV difficult to get live TV on.
- Essie (10/5): Thoroughly enjoyable stay! Can’t wait to return!! - The Bolt Hole is beautiful inside out, with all the equipment and facilities that I need and some. Allocated parking space is right outside the entrance, 2-min walk from the promenade. Nothing really!
- Rachel (10/5): Comfy, cosy and a great base for the north west - Stunning inside, well equipped kitchen, super clean, the comfiest beds, lovely Molton Brown toiletries left for us, fluffy towel, really good communication with the owner and easy check in/out, close walk to the town and beach. Nothing :)

- John (10/5): Exceptional - The facilities were exceptional everything is done to a high standard and the beds were really comfortable.
- George (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, Neil the owner is a fantastic guy. He kept in touch regarding our stay at the bolt hole. The cottage was kept in good order, and had some very quirky features, but with all the modern cons. The location is very close to the beach, and I would recommend this property to everyone wanting a really lovely stay in morcambe. Nothing

The kitchen well stocked, the sofa & chair very comfortable. A perfect place to stay - especially if visiting the Lakes but with the sea. We had nothing to complain about. Neil was a charming host, full of knowledge about the house history. He explained that the garden is being upgraded and was keen to make sure all was well.
- Victoria (10/5): Short break at The Bolt Hole - Great central location for exploring.
The cottage is cosy and has everything you need.
Beds are very comfortable.
The owner of the cottage met us on arrival and departure..
- Louise (10/5): Ideal location, stunning place - This was an ideal location, walkable to nearby pubs and amenities
The decor and layout is stunning, tastefully decorated rustic meets modern
The host Neil was super helpful and accommodating for us and our dog, also super responsive via message
The beds were really comfortable! Slept like a dream. Also the bath was very nice
Would 100% stay here again Nothing
- Stewart (10/5): Bolt Hole Bliss . - We were given a lovely welcome by Neil the owner, he showed us around & let us know we could contact him with any issues, he showed us around which was great.we were given a parking permit, which was very useful. The Bolt Hole is full of beautiful, quirky features, which just made the stay even better. We have no complaints 🙂
- Money (9/5): Superb - Beautifully renovated to a very high standard, retaining many of the original old cottage features. Decor was innovative, quirky and it had a really cosy old cottagey feel not expected from the outside. Excellent facilities with some nice touches. Outside space at the back was nicely kept.
Owner was helpful and dog friendly too. Nothing really, but at a push, perhaps an extra light/lamp over the table area would have been good, and bedside lights on both sides of the bed. The shower itself was excellent, but the screen not quite long enough so maybe a curtain instead?
- Amanda (10/5): Gorgeous cottage perfect for our 2 nights near Lancaster. - Gorgeous decor and furnishings.
Location with car parking. Nothing.
- Bartlett (10/5): Highly recommend a visit - Fantastic quaint cottage, modern, lovely and clean, and well equipped with all the essentials. Comfortable beds, which you could stay in all day! The garden area is a courtyard, with seating outside, and the residents are lovely to chat with. The property is a two minute walk to the promenade, with plenty of cafes and pubs to eat in, which is great! The owner, Neil, is lovely and advised us on places to visit and places to eat. Always on hand to help in any way. Overall, I had a fantastic stay here. I would highly recommend it.
- Maria (10/5): Perfect "Bolt Hole" cottage. - Lovely little cottage, beautifully done.
Very comfortable. Owner very helpful and attentive.
Especially liked the auto lights in the bathroom for night time trips!. Morcambe in general, I thought it had more to offer.
However, had a nice pizza at a closeby restaurant and a fun quiz night at the pub.
- Karen (10/5): Felt so happy, comfy and loved it. Really felt at home. - The bolt hole was amazing. It was the best holiday home we had ever stayed in. It was spotless. There is everything you need and more. Neil is the best host Ever. He is so kind and funny. Nothing was too much trouble to him. We asked him where he recommended to eat and they were all brilliant eating places. He told us places to visit and they were beautiful places. The cottage is just beautiful. We are already planning our next visit to go back and can’t wait. Would recommend this place 100% !! There was nothing we didn’t like about it. There are no faults.
- Charlotte (10/5): Exceptional - The Bolt Hole is beautifully decorated and is very quirky, which is one of the reasons we booked it. The beds were incredibly comfortable and I had amazing sleeps while I was there! The property is very close to the beach and all the local restaurants. The owner was very communicative and helpful. Overall, a fab place to stay and I’d definitely recommend it. Not that it can be changed, but I didn’t really feel comfortable sitting in the communal garden. I didn’t realise it was communal when we booked it, but that was probably an oversight in my research.
- Gawaine (10/5): Outstanding cottage in a great location. - The bolt hole is a fantastic fisherman's cottage renovated to an exceptionally high standard with some really unique touches throughout. The location is so close to the promenade and beaches and central areas. Seagul poop on my car, hazard by the sea. 😄.
Also a bit of noise from people attending the local venue O'Connors, a street away, only open over weekend if event on. We do sleep with window open so would be limited if you close them.
- Heather (8/5): Very good -
- Lee (10/5): Excellent - The property was very clean and comfortable, especially the beds. Very good value for money. The owner is very amenable and the whole cottage is finished to a very high standard. Would definitely recommend a visit. Located in the centre of Morcambe and very close to some good restaurants.
- Jason (10/5): Best value for money around. - Beautiful well appointed little cottage. Very clean, very modern, very quiet. All mod cons, super value for money. Great owner, fantastic communication. How all holiday let's should be done. We will be visiting again
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carolyn (10/5): Outstanding - Historical cottage renovated beautifully.
Good car parking.
Super location
Exceptional responsive host
- Lynsey (8/5): Gorgeous little place - Gorgeous little property. Good communication with the owners and informative welcome book and maintenance log book.
Fabulous facilities and really close to the promenade and shops/bars/pubs etc.
Bedrooms are both large and beds are really comfortable. Sofa is also huge and comfortable.
Parking permit available and parked directly outside property. Not the owners fault but quite noisy on a night due to being so close to O'Connors. Window shut and earplugs sorted it though.
Only other issue was that one of the neighbours was not happy with dogs using the communal area (despite the cottage being dog friendly). I let the owner know and he is going to sort this with the neighbour. So couldn't ask for more than that.
- Amna (10/5): Exceptional - great location and wonderful host.
all our needs were met.
beds really comfortable.
tastefully decorated. steep steps to consider for children.
- Madmel (10/5): Short break with two dogs. - The location is fab. The place is immaculate. Parking permit was a must. Milk in the fridge, thank you. We stayed with our friends and our two dogs and it was perfect. Loved everything. Fantastic communication with Neil Nothing
