Guest Reviews
- Erlyn (5/5): Terrible Communication and No Heating Instructions – NEVER AGAIN! - The fire place is awesome. It made the whole house warm from the cold rainy days and nights. Thanks to my husband who found the firewood underneath the house. The communication and instructions for the heating system were absolutely AWEFUL!
There were NO instructions provided, and we arrived to cold, rainy weather—completely unprepared. I called the call centre for help, and surprise, surprise, they had NO IDEA about the heating setup. The woman I spoke to said she'd contact the property manager and get back to me. Well, guess what? I waited 15 damn hours and heard NOTHING. We ended up sleeping through a freezing cold night after an exhausting 8-hour drive from Christchurch.
I foolishly assumed the property manager would follow up, nope! So I had to call again, only to be told by the agent we were expected to supply our own firewood, and the HRV system isn’t even for heating—just some bloody ventilation system.
On top of that, the agent told me they “weren’t allowed” to give out the property manager’s contact details, so I couldn’t even speak directly to the person who actually manages the place. Instead, I had to go through some useless Auckland call centre, dragging out the whole process even more.
Thank god there was at least a portable heater for the kids’ room.
The next night, my husband found a pile of firewood UNDERNEATH THE HOUSE. Seriously?! If anyone, the call centre agent or the property manager, actually knew anything about the property, they could’ve just told us the place only uses a fireplace for heating and that firewood is stored underneath. But no, they left us in the dark. And when I booked this place, none of this was mentioned either. Absolutely disgraceful how the whole thing was handled.
NOT RECOMMENDED at all!
PS. They said the view is magnificent according to the feedback and photos but it was stormy the whole time so no views for us.
- Ruth (6/5): Great views and space but condition of house etc disappointing - The view was exceptional - however- the house hadn’t been prepared for us - dead insects everywhere and no beds made up which did put us off. There were also no directions to the driveway to the property which is not that easy to find and if you arrived after dark would be hellish. The place looks a little unkempt and many things which you would accept in a family bach such as heated towel rails coming off the wall and a bin in a cupboard which has to be pulled out with a string and lights not working seems not appropriate for somewhere charging $610 a night. Also there were little to no nonperishables left - no sugar, 6 teabags and none of the things left that no one wants to buy like herbs etc which most bach’s have. Collingwood is expensive to buy all those things. It seemed a bit mean spirited for the price. We had stayed in one in Stephens Bay for $575 a night which was like a 5 star hotel so it was a marked contrast .All in all we were disappointed-and felt it had been overpriced
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Luke (2/5): Disgusting - The veiw There where ants everywhere in the kitchen and bathroom. The sheets in the master bedroom had blood stains on the first night ive taken photos and are highly disgusted in the price with the pour hygiene that was on offer will not be recommending to anyone 😑
- Dave (10/5): A well equipped, comfortable house with stunning views and beach, cafes and pub within easy walking distance. - The view. The space. The facilities. It was hard to find the driveway. The GPS takes you to the post box. You get there and have no idea where the driveway is. Not even a number 8 on the driveway when you eventually find it.
