Guest Reviews
- Diane (8/5): An enjoyable 2 night stay. Fab breakfast plenty of choice of cereals and lovely sene ton of fresh fruit followed by full - Lovely rural location. Peaceful and full of character Nothing
- Lloyd (7/5): -
- Jane (7/5): Mixed review but in peaceful area - Room was comfortable and clean.
Shower was very powerful which we like.
No issues with room, had everything we needed.
Lovely rural peaceful place to stay, need a car.
Great pub with great food up the road (The White Horse) Male host could have been a bit more engaging on arrival.
Breakfast could have been improved, quite watery and hair found on one of the plates. Also selection of cereals on our table. Around 8 of them had expired! One was even over a year old. Host not around at time to let them know. Not impressed that these aren't checked.
Toaster on individual tables a nice touch.
- Pamela (9/5): Comfortable and relaxing. - The breakfast was excellent, and the location was delightfully rural. Lack of somewhere to sit outside to enjoy the beautiful views in the warm and sunny weather.
- Pádraig (10/5): -
- Jeff (1/5): -
- Paul (8/5): Nearest pub for grub notcopen Mon or Tues😡 - Lovely period building situated on farmland. Nothing
- David (10/5): - really good little stop over
- Adam (7/5): Beautiful setting peaceful bed could have been firmer - Beautiful setting and warm welcome Single bed was a bit uncomfortable when I rolled over whole mattress wobbled
- Barry (10/5): Pleasant overnight stay in a peaceful and tranquil location. I could happily have stayed for longer. - Lovely quiet and peaceful rural location.
Excellent shower.
Good breakfast.
Friendly and welcoming hosts.
- Andrew (9/5): Relaxing, comfortable and great stays - Friendly and helpful owners, excellent food and peaceful location. Possible wasp nest nearby resulted in several dead and alive insects in the room and bathroom.
- Barbara (5/5): It was ok but not wonderful. - Could have been hotter bacon & eggs were hard first two days were hotter on last day.Nobody empties the waste bins only had bed made once we were there three days. Full up waste bins breakfast wasn't to our expectations.
- Declan (10/5): -
- Rippon (10/5): Great place to stay - Really nicely furnished and comfortable room, that was spotlessly clean. Great breakfast. Easy to find, with a clear sign from the main road.
- Fiona (8/5): Very comfortable and will use again when I next visit Framlingham. - Beautiful, peaceful setting. Very comfortable room and nice bathroom with a fantastic shower. I didn't have cooked breakfast. Genius idea - each table has its own toaster so you can have hot toast when you want it. It was all satisfactory and much better than the more expensive hotel room I had the night before.
- Helen (5/5): Welcoming hosts, lovely environment but needs to be more flexible and clean - Lovely location, very nice people who were welcoming. Beautiful countryside and very comfortable bed. Excellent breakfast Breakfast had to be served at 9.00 latest and usually breakfast can be eaten until 10.00. Two people in our party were jet lagged and so were not able to have breakfast both mornings which was pre paid for. There was a smell of drains in our bedroom and also a tea pot with lots of mould in it- the hosts were apologetic- but no charge reduced or offered, including no refund for 4 breakfasts which were not eaten
- Naomi (7/5): Comfortable cottage vibe - Very quaint BnB, lovely location off the beaten track. Single bedroom with ensuite comfortable. Breakfast delicious. Sadly the wifi was out, apparently happens every now and then.
- Marilyn (9/5): -
- Susan (7/5): -
- Paul (8/5): - Location and parking.
- Florence (10/5): Fabulous b&b in a quiet area of Suffolk - Had a lovely welcome from the host who was very accommodating. I stayed in a single room which had a very comfortable single bed with a cosy quilt. The breakfast was superb with a selection of cereal, bread (with your own toaster at the table), freshly cut fruit, orange juice, coffee and a cooked breakfast. I cycled to the b&b but it may have been better with other transport as it was too far to go for dinner at the closest pub/hotel! It was very quiet. Nothing to report
- christy (8/5): -
- Paul (8/5): -
- Fuller-Shapcott (9/5): Short stay to explore the area - Lovely location and very friendly owners. Great breakfast. Room (single) perfect with a nice ensuite with excellent shower. Nothing
- Pat (10/5): Lovely exceptional breakfast - Close by for meeting friends in the area
- Patricia (7/5): Comfortable Stay - Pretty, peaceful setting. Fruit bowl for breakfast was great. Having an individual toaster great idea. Room not serviced daily which I would expect, considering amount charged. Would have liked more choice for a cooked breakfast.
- Gary (8/5): -
- Hilary (8/5): - Peaceful rural location in beautiful traditional farmhouse but also çlose to Framlingham.
The breakfast was very good as was the evening meal at nearby Dennington
Queen pub. It was perfect for our visit to historic churches in the area.
- Donald (10/5): -
- Salvatore (10/5): -
- Nicolas (10/5): -
- Terence David (8/5): August bank holiday, nearby Wedding - The accommodation was very good in a beautiful setting with parking close to the room. The room was clean and well provided for with an excellent shower. Tea and coffee making facilities also available. Breakfast was well set out and catered for most needs, you could ask for different item ie yoghurt etc if required. Host was very accommodating in changing the room to a more suitable one for our needs. This location was ideal for us to attend a wedding ceremony close by. Would have preferred tea cups being washed each day as the room facilities didn't provide suitable cleaning products.
- lauraod1985 (10/5): - This was a really sweet B&B! The owners were so lovely and friendly, and made us a delicious cooked breakfast. The bed and room was beautiful (four poster!) and the bathroom really new and clean. We loved it here, would come again.
- Richard (8/5): We were made to feel welcome, the 4 poster was very grand and the breakfast surpassed my expections - We were late to check in and the hosts were very accommodating and friendly.
- Marc (10/5): -
- Gary (9/5): -
- Angela (8/5): - Very peaceful, beautifully converted farm buildings. Excellent breakfast.
Not a complaint as such but quilt and pillows a bit lumpy, perhsps need replacing
- Phillip (8/5): -
- Mary (2/5): See above - The full English was not available with fried eggs, the bacon was tasteless and the mushrooms seemingly boiled in water - rubbery and tasteless.
The location was wonderfully quiet. We had booked a room in the main house but without any notice we were put in an outbuilding which was very poorly furnished and lit - only one small window in the bedroom, and a pokey corner with a dressing table and small, useless light. The shower room was out of the bedroom across a landing and unsafe at night which caused my husband to fall, injuring his ribs and badly cutting his arm and hitting his head. There is is more I could say but to sum up, £146 per night was outrageously overpriced.
- Allen (2/5): Don’t go there - Location The ceiling of the room was so low that I had to walk around with my head bowed to avoid hitting the ceiling. I am 5ft 11 inches tall.
We suffered insect bites during our stay at the property which our GP subsequently identified as being from bedbugs.
- Tobias (5/5): Mildly dissatisfied - Beautiful location, off the beaten track. I think that for ca. £ 120.- per night the room could have been made up, the tea cups &c. washed & tea/ water re-stocked for the 2nd day/night of our stay.
I also like to mention that The Squire’s Room is by no ways ‘a room with a view’! Two Velux & one window to a rather close row of sycamores is all you get, particularly annoying given the beauty of the surroundings.
- Nigel (9/5): Superb - We stayed in a lovely twin room (called The Loose Box) in the adjoining annexe. The place was absolutely spotless with nice furnishings, excellent en suite shower room and very comfortable beds.
There were also a number of pub/restaurants within easy distance for an evening meal, which was much appreciated.
Breakfast at Colston Hall was delicious - a full English, cooked to order, along with cereals and plenty of toast.
A really pleasant location with plenty of parking space, which we would definitely recommend to future visitors....and we would love to go back there ourselves one day!
Thank you, Colston Hall.
- Carol (9/5): Lovely setting - The setting in Suffolk farmland was lovely. My room was very nice with comfy bed. Breakfast was in lovely conservatory. The fried Breakfast though good, was greasy, and undercooked.
- Allan (7/5): Good - Breakfast was nice
- Elaine (5/5): Disappointed - Beautiful setting and buildings Had to move the bed to access plugs. I was shocked how dirty the floor was and dust that had been there some time.
- Carolyn (8/5): Very good -
- Sofia (9/5): Superb -
- Laurence (9/5): Very pleasant; thank you. - Good location, nice breakfast. The bedroom would have benefitted from a wardrobe or more clothes hanging space.
- Julie (8/5): Cosy and friendly guest house in lovely area - In lovely rural area.Nice room.Good breakfast.Friendly owner
- Lesley (2/5): Very poor -
- Andrew (7/5): Good -
- Chris (10/5): Highly recommended. - Peaceful and beautiful setting. Nothing
- Maple (4/5): Disappointing - Location, owners. Really hard bed. Feeble shower.
- Julian (7/5): Comfortable stay near Framlingham. - Proximity to Framlingham.
Quiet location. Secluded farmhouse with nice breakfast views.
Very traditional cooking/breakfast. Would have liked some fresh fruit and yoghurt at breakfast. Replace the Kelloggs packaged cereals!
- Robert (9/5): Superb - Very nice, peaceful location. n/a
- Dale (10/5): - We stayed here due to a wedding at nearby Bruisyard. It was a lovely stay and I couldn’t fault it, a beautiful setting full of nature and a very well preserved property. Liz was very accommodating allowing us to drop our luggage and car off earlier than check in; we also came down to a very very nice breakfast with something for everyone.
- Hawkins (9/5): really good - breakfast had a good variety and plenty to eat and nice. everything was good
- Julie (3/5): The location was beautiful. I felt it wasnt good value for money, the hosts had minimal interaction with us and breakfas - The location was beautiful and the shower was particularly good. The farm house was a lovely period farmhouse. Noise carried through the rooms although we seemed to be the only ones staying, the last night another couple stayed and we could hear them talking and watching tv very clearly.
There were a lot of ‘creature’ noises all night above us in the loft.
- Carole (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely quiet secluded area. The room in the stable block was full of character yet had all the facilities you needed. Comfortable beds , large shower and spacious room.
Breakfast was exceptional, plentiful and tasty. Our hosts directed us to an excellent pub/restaurant for an evening meal
Cannot fault our stay at all and would definitely stay again when returning to the area Nothing
- Nick (7/5): Good - Lovely location and lakes Bed was very uncomfortable and lumpy and so was the duvet
- Anthony (7/5): Good -
- Jo (8/5): Very good -
- Kimberley (3/5): Unfortunately we left 5 minutes after arriving. Sorry - It was peaceful Very old and dated. The bedding had stains. It had obviously been washed many many times, faded, nylon. Just needs a load of money spending on it.
- Mills (10/5): Exceptional - Everything Can't really think of anything
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Abigail (3/5): Dismal, but it was all that was available in the area - The TV didn't work, the door and old stable door let the light through, the bed was tiny, all in all it was not a good experience.
- Burrell (8/5): Very good -
- Nicola (6/5): Pleasant - Welcoming hosts. Cosy looking room. It was very cold but there were lots of extra blankets provided.
The extractor fan in the bathroom was very noisy and went on and on.
- Alan (9/5): Very convenient for the wedding we were attending. Nice accomodation and helpful owners - Breakfast was excellent. Our rooms were well furnished and comfortable (although being over 6 feet tall I had to be careful where I walked at times). The owners were very friendly and helpful - pointed out places to visit for an evening meal Nothing
- Danielle (8/5): Very good - The owners were really friendly. Really good shower!
- Allan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard (9/5): Comfortable and well looked after. - Very comfortable time, well looked after.
- Bruce (9/5): Superb -
- Lucy (8/5): A lovely bed and breakfast location - Great breakfast and lovely rooms. Perfect for our needs.
- Elizabeth (8/5): Very good -
- Linas (10/5): Highly recommend! - It was a very pleasant stay and lovely owners! All great!
- Ian (6/5): Very Expensive for what it was as it is only a B&B - the location was ok out in the Country Side, Breakfast was well cooked and displayed nicely The cost was way to high for a B&B type, just too expensive for what it was
- Richard (8/5): Good choice for a Suffolk stay - Stayed here for a 2 night break. Friendly welcome and a lovely room (The Hayloft). Breakfast was delicious with fresh fruit and cereal to start and a nice home cooked breakfast. Great touch with having a toaster on the table to toast the delicious bread and enjoy the marmalade. Breakfast was efficient with no waiting. Liz and John have a delightful place for a stay.
- John (9/5): Enjoyed our one night stay in a clean, reasonably comfortable room with very good breakfast. - Breakfast was great. We liked the individual toasters on each table. Everything was provided, although choice of cereal a little limited. Yoghurt would have been nice. Fruit salad was fresh and lots of different fruits. Cooked breakfast was two eggs a sausage tomato, piece of bacon and small fried bread. Tea and coffee, juice.
Bathroom clean, toiletries provided, shower brilliant, and hot.
Clean. Beds were a little uncomfortable. There was a supporting pillar right by the bed, so it might have been problematic if one needed to get up in the night, Room was a little dark, but there was lighting and bedside lamps.
Door to room needs a bit of attention as it was scraping on the floor.
- Alison (10/5): Exceptional -
- Zach (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent home cooked breakfast.
- Scott (10/5): A lovely peaceful escape - The farmhouse was lovely, the location excellent, with good access to pubs and local villages.
- Elizabeth (8/5): Very pleasant - Lovely rural location very near to wedding I was attending easy to get to. Very nice breakfast, Very pleasant host. My room was a little dark. I only say that because I had to get ready for a wedding and there was only a little window and even with all lights on was difficult to do make up!!!

- Kim (9/5): I had a very tranquil stay. The hosts were very kind. They made my stay a very good one. - The breakfast room overlooked a lovely garden with a huge pond. The breakfast was very good. I would like to have had a room that looked out onto the lovely grounds. The window was high up above the bed. This is not a complaint by the way.
- Gina (8/5): Very good -
- Lina (8/5): Overall I would recommend it. - The location was good. The breakfast was very good The attic room needed either air conditioning or a fan.
The quilt was too thick & it got very hot in the evenings
