D Canal is a little out from the main road but this is a plus as the property is so peaceful. The staff are happy to arrange for a complimentary tuk tuk to drop you the kilometre or so to the main road.

• Ionela (10/5): Fairytale stay 🫶 - The entrance garden is mirific. Like walking in a fairy tale. The main house has a unique decor, very impressive. The hotel is 700m from the main road so they offer free tuk-tuk rides, but I enjoyed walking it once. Lahiru and his team is extremely helpful. Nothing is too much to ask. Didn’t have breakfast at the property. During the night you can hear lots of animal noises but I guess that’s what makes it authentic 😊

• Streifenhörnchen (10/5): Es war ein sehr schöner,erholsamer Aufenthalt in der ruhigen,natürlichen und gepflegten Anlage. - Das "D-Kanal House" liegt in einem wunderschönen Garten, mit Pool und Sonnenliegen und vielen Bäumen und Pflanzen, so dass hier viele Tiere und Vögel zu beobachten sind. Die kleine Anlage ist etwas abseits der Hauptstraße, dafür aber sehr ruhig und umgeben von Einheimischen, aber durch den Tuktuk-Shuttle in die Stadt oder auch fussläufig gut erreichbar. Restaurants befinden sich in der näheren Umgebung, wie auch an der Hauptstraße und am Strand entlang. Unser Zimmer war sauber, mit allem ausgestattet, was nötig ist. Das Frühstück war vielfälltig und frisch mit Obst, Eiern, selbstgemachter Marmelade und heimischen Speisen, die Mitarbeiter waren freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt dort sehr genossen. Vielen Dank für die schöne Zeit! -

• Priya (10/5): Nous avons passé mon conjoint et moi un merveilleux moment dans cet hôtel, il est très dur d’y partir, tant nous avons a - Tout, la beauté du lieu, l’hotel et les jardins extérieurs. La gentillesse et disponibilité de Lahiru le gérant de l’hôtel, ainsi que du personnel. L’emplacement et les tuktuk disponible gratuitement pour nous rendre au centre ville. Honnêtement, je n’ai vraiment rien à dire, mise à part qu’il faudrait peut-être une serpillière dans les salles de bain et un petit balais dans les chambres pour nettoyer le sol.
• Lavinia (10/5): Schön idyllisch und ruhig - Es ist ein wunderschönes Boutique B&B in mitten der Natur. Wer es ruhig mag ist hier genau richtig. Die Zimmer sind sehr schön eingerichtet und haben einen sehr großen Balkon. Die gesamte Anlage mit Pool ist einfach wunderschön. Das Frühstücksbuffet war ebenfalls sehr ausgiebig und man bekommt sowohl westliches als auch Sri Lankisches Essen. Sie bieten tagsüber einen kostenlosen Tuktuk Shuttle zur Hauptstraße an.

• Yousra (10/5): Exceptionnel ! - Nous avons séjourné ma copine et moi à l’hôtel deux nuits, et ce fut exceptionnel ! L’hôtel est conforme aux photos présentes sur le site, nous avons une chambre sunset c’était magnifique avec un très grand lit. Le personnel est très attentionnée et d’une gentillesse extrême ! Nous avons eu une activité un matin et le personnel nous a mis de côté le petit déjeuner, un service au rendez-vous chez D Canal House. Nous le recommandons à 100% !
• anthony (9/5): Fantastisch - De atmosfeer, het personeel en kamer was fantastisch. Prachtig zwemdag, top ontbijt, echt een aanrader. De verantwoordelijke Lahiru was super behulpzaam en regelde alles wat we wouden. Ook de rest van het personeel met de nachtwachter Milan in het bijzonder waren super vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Er is smiddags en savonds geen eten te verkrijgen. Je moet een tuktuk nemen naar het strand voor eten. Tot en met 19u was transport van en naar het verblijf inclusief waardoor dit maar een voetnoot is.

The whole house was just wonderful, the STAFF are truly just so friendly and very extremely helpful. Nothing is a bother for them. They bend backwards to make my stay even more comfortable. The breakfast in the morning was just perfect, just the perfect balance. The whole place is just so tranquil and the gardens are well maintained. They have a free tuk tuk service into Mirassi daily especially if you don’t want to walk in the warm weather. There is nothing to fault about the property. Highly recommend and if you are considering staying here, just book it. You won’t regret it. So looking forward to re-visiting D Canal House when I’m next in Sri Lanka None

The pool is very clean and peaceful, a wonderful way to spend a few hours in the afternoon. • Jo (9/5): A relaxing stay with amazing staff who really go the extra mile. - Really great location just away from the crowds, but still close enough to everything, and the pool was perfect for relaxing. Being right next to the canal meant there was loads of birdlife, which was amazing for me as a wildlife photographer. Once the staff realised that, they went out of their way to point things out and even lent me a bike so I could explore nearby rice paddies and a local lake. They also offered free tuk-tuks into town, which was a really nice touch. Honestly, nothing really stood out as an issue during our stay. Everything was easy and comfortable, and the staff were incredibly helpful throughout. No real complaints at all.

• cato-symonds (10/5): A luxe , rural, relaxed retreat a perfect stay - Stunning property just a nice distance away from the bustling little Marissa town. An easy 10-15 min pretty rural stroll with many friendly dogs gets you to the beach and restaurants etc. Superb, comfortable and beautifully designed yet also very relaxed. At night the gardens are light with magical fairy lights. It’s so beautiful. Only thing bad is the coffee its either spiced coffee or instant. Some regular filter coffee would make it perfect a perfect breakfast. The Chef was a lovely man too.

• Cat (10/5): The best stay! - This is the loveliest hotel we stayed in in Sri Lanka. The hotel itself is beautiful, inside the rooms were cosy and outside there is a really green garden and lovely pool. It's situated just on the river so you can watch the wildlife as you eat your breakfast (which is delicious btw!) The staff were sooo kind and friendly and really made our stay here amazing. They also offer a free tuk tuk ride into town. We were so sad to leave and can't recommend D Canal House enough! Nothing, it was perfect

• Nikki Hobbs (10/5): Please let me go back to this lovely place one day! - This was the best place we stayed in Sri Lanka over three weeks. We stayed in Hibiscus bunaglow, which was very spacious and well designed. As others have mentioned, the gardens are absolutely beautiful. A little oasis. I usually rush out and about but I loved this place so much I was just as happy hanging around by the pool and chilling. The pool is stunning and you can just float around watching the many birds arriving. Waking up in the morning to the sound of nature is so good for the soul. The breakfast is good quality and there is free tea and coffee all day. Transport into Mirissa itself is free and easily organised. However, we mostly walked. It only took about fifteen minutes, feels very safe and is a pleasant stroll. I wouldn't have wanted to stay in Mirissa itself, which can get very busy with heavy traffic. It felt far better to dip in, have dinner on the beach and then go back to the calm and peace. There are so many good things to say about the hotel, but more than anything, it is the staff who make it. They are delightful and the nicest and most helpful people you could imagine. Lahiru on reception couldn't have done more to make our stay a happy one. He gave us lots of information and arranged a crocodile trip and onward taxi for us, as well a giving us details about good places to eat. Milan, the night watchman, was super friendly and again, really helpful. Lovely to talk to. The breakfast staff also deserve a mention as they genuinely did everything they could to make sure we had a great start to the day and their beautiful smiles made my morning. Lovely home made jam which you can buy for a gift to take home. Can't fault the place and hope one day to get back there - the sooner the better. I honestly wouldn't like to suggest improvements here as it felt like everything we might need had been thought of. If I was forced to make a suggestion, I would say that it would be great if you could buy a little salad or something in the afternoon, but it isn't important as you can easily walk to various food places within five minutes.

• katie (9/5): Hidden gem - This was a gorgeously maintained space. Each bungalow feels very private. The shaded pool area was perfect for afternoon naps after morning beach. Staff were super kind and attentive. The free tuktuk to and from the beach made it easy. It was a bit too far from the beach for popping back and forth. A hotel nearby played loud music on one of the nights- but still quieter than staying near the sea from.
• gillian (10/5): A piece of paradise in Mirissa - If you want a beautiful romantic hotel, set in lush tropical gardens, that transform into a fairy paradise at night, then this place is a definite. We were welcomed by Lahiru who speaks perfect English and made us feel so welcome. Indeed all the staff did, so pleasant and helpful. Breakfast is a buffet with lots of choice and if you fancy the beach it is only a short walk or a free tuk tuk ride. We had a wonderful stay, enjoyed every minute. Sri Lanka is a beautiful country with the most kindest of people who just want you to enjoy your holiday. The pool and outside space is beautiful, relaxing, grounding and surrounded by nature. The room is really quite stunning in a natural and wholesome way with its rich wood and heavy, high quality interior. The staff are just beautiful souls. They will do anything for you and are so very generous and happy. The breakfast is just perfect as so much choice and you can have as little or as much as you want. The scrambled eggs and bacon , fresh juice, papaya and home made jam is so very delicious. We felt so well looked after, cared for and safe. Tuk tuks and drivers were arranged for us very kindly, communication and WiFi were strong, the shower had a great pressure and water and all amenities needed are required. The bedding and towels are super clean and fresh. We wish them all the best for future. Thank you . We were sad to leave! There is nothing not to like.

• Juliet (8/5): Beautiful property and location - It is a beautiful property set away from the hustle and bustle of Mirissa. Breakfast was very good. The pool refreshing even though heated. A free tuk tuk was a bonus. Unfortunately a night club has opened nearby on. Saturday night and it did disturb our sleep. The owners of D Canal and many others are trying to get it stopped but at the moment avoid staying in a Saturday. Otherwise our stay was perfect!
• Kevin (10/5): Beautiful hotel, friendly staff, some maintenance issues - The staff were very attentive and friendly. Breakfast was served as a small buffet. The pool was large and clean. The courtyard, or rather the garden, is designed with a lot of love and care. Since the hotel is located a bit off the main road, the hotel offers a free tuk-tuk shuttle service to the main street. It was a pity that less attention seemed to be paid to the sun loungers. On the first day we threw some trash into one of the ashtrays, and after two days, when we checked out, it was still full.

Has a wraparound balcony over the canal where you can hear birdsong and spot birds in the morning and watch the flock of egrets sleeping in a tree slowly wake and fly away for their breakfast! Quiet and calm It’s hidden away from the main road (which is good for peace and quiet) but difficult to walk to and from. Essentially you have to take a tuk tuk back and forth. (Very) Small price to pay

• KEITH (10/5): Lovely, relaxing stay - We stayed at D Canal House for 2 weeks mainly so we could do some Whale watching from Mirissa but also to relax after touring the island. The pool is lovely for swimming and the breakfast was excellent with a buffet and eggs cooked to order. All of the staff are so caring and considerate and nothing is too much trouble. • Philipp (10/5): - Wunderschöne Anlage abseits des Trudels mitten im Grünen, was uns sehr gefallen hat. Zwischen 10 und 19 Ihr wird man kostenfrei mittels Tuktuk zur Main Street gebracht und auch abgeholt. Tolle authentische Einrichtung, vor allem super mit Himmelbett-Moskitonetz! Es gibt nichts zu bemängeln und wir würden sofort wieder buchen, mindestens 3 Tage bleiben. Hervorzuheben ist das freundliche und hilfsbereite Personal, besonders Lahoru und Milan, aber jeder andere war auch super! Danke für alles insbesondere das späte Frühstück nach dem Tauchen/Whalewatching.
• Rhodé (10/5): Absoluut een aanrader! - Wat een fantastische plek is D Canal House. Vanaf het moment dat je binnenkomt voel je de rust. Alles is met zorg en smaak opgezet, met een prachtige groene tuin die perfect onderhouden is en een heerlijk zwembad waar je echt kunt ontspannen. Wij verbleven in de Sunset Room; een ruime en prachtige kamer met een fijne sfeer. De badkamer was top, met een goede douche en alles wat je nodig hebt. Het klopt gewoon allemaal. De service maakt het helemaal af. Liharu en zijn collega’s staan altijd voor je klaar en zorgen ervoor dat het je werkelijk aan niets ontbreekt. Ze denken met je mee en doen alles met een glimlach. Ook de tuktukservice naar de hoofdweg is een groot pluspunt en maakt het verblijf extra comfortabel. Het ontbijt is goed en met zorg bereid. D Canal House is zo’n plek waar je langer wilt blijven, wij verbleven hier 6 nachten en gingen vanuit hier naar alle hotspots van Mirissa en omstreken. Niets

Breakfast was delicious and entire property equivalent to 5 star boutique. . Just note that as mentioned, this property is away from the Main Street (about 15 minute walk to shops & bars etc) - but the walk is well worth it for the luxury of these surroundings.

• Oriol Milà Pascual (9/5): Relaxing jungle‑style bungalows close to Mirissa - The gardens are lovely, with a great swimming pool area, and a delicious breakfast was served near the main house. The bungalow was extremely spacious, featuring a king‑size bed, a clean bathroom with all the necessary amenities, a kitchen, and a large private terrace. The staff were very helpful, especially Lahiru, who couldn’t have been more welcoming and attentive during our stay, sharing plenty of great tips on what to do in the area. They also offer a free tuk‑tuk shuttle to the main street in Mirissa, which is a nice bonus.

• Tamara (10/5): - Wunderschönes Hotel, gefühlt mitten im Dschungel und doch nicht so weit weg von den belebten Stränden Mirissas. Es fühlt sich an wie eine ruhige Oase mit wunderschönem Pool. Auch die Zimmer sind sehr liebevoll eingerichtet, geräumig, sauber und mit großem Balkon ausgestattet. Das Personal ist super freundlich und zuvorkommend, organisieren kostenfreie TukTuks und bieten am Pool Badetücher an sowie tägliche Reinigung des Zimmers. Das Frühstück besteht aus einem Buffet mit regionalen Köstlichkeiten, wirklich traumhaft gut. Für Europäer vielleicht gut zu wissen: die Zimmer sind nicht vollständig geschlossen, das heißt es kommt ständig Luft und demnach auch Geräusche von draußen rein - also Ohrstöpsel nicht vergessen, die Vögel können ganz schön laut werden ;) Im Zimmer ist eine zusätzliche Decke vorhanden, sollte es in der Nacht kühler werden.

After we checked out, we were still allowed to use all the facilities including pool and towels, which was very appreciated. Lahiru has been extremely professional and helpful throughout our stay. • Christopher (10/5): Beautiful secluded location with amazing staff - Lahiru from DCanal house was amazing. On check in he gave us lots of information about the surrounding area and made us feel incredibly welcome. He was always available to answer our questions over WhatsApp and book (free) tuktuks for us between the hotel and the main road at the beach. We ate breakfast every morning by the river and pool which was delicious and had a good variety of options (Sri Lankan, European and Eggs). The secluded location surrounded by nature was idyllic. The room was massive with a kitchenette included, and I enjoyed the morning wakeup calls with the local peacocks. Couldn't ask for more. Will recommend this gem to everyone who asks where to stay on the south coast!
• Madeleine (10/5): An oasis of calm, natural haven, beautiful location and generous staff - Lahiru and his team were so welcoming, from beginning to end. Initially when we got the Tuktuk from the main road, I was worried it would be too far out, but it’s a 10 min walk from the hustle and bustle to a much needed oasis of calm. The gardens surrounding the property and local village is so green and beautiful. We stayed in the Whatsudda bungalow and it was huge! Total luxury, super clean, and so wonderfully decorated. Priyanka also chatted to us and we learned that he made all the jams himself (which we then had for breakfast, and can confirm they were delicious). Nothing was too much for the kind, generous staff! I never rate anywhere 10/10, but this absolutely deserves every star! Would come again in a heartbeat! Virtually nothing! The only request would be a couple more sunbeds as there weren’t any available when we went to the pool!

All of the staff were so friendly, we had a very warm welcome from Lahiru who was very helpful throughout our stay. The room was spacious and clean and the aesthetic was beautiful. The whole area was so peaceful and green and the pool was really nice. The breakfast was good - make sure to try Priyankara’s homemade mango jam it’s delicious! Our favourite hotel we stayed at in Sri Lanka. Wish we could have stayed longer!
• Hannah (10/5): Exceeded expectations - We had an exceptional stay at D Canal House - gorgeous clean rooms, lovely pool, delicious breakfast and fantastic staff. A short walk to the Main Street in Mirissa, but they also offer a free tuk tuk service if you prefer. Unfortunately a loud club has opened locally - this plays music on Friday evenings which can be a little disruptive. The staff are aware of the problem and putting in the relevant complaints.

Wir haben die angebotene Bootsfahrt auf dem Kanal mitgemacht und waren begeistert, es lohnt sich wirklich. -

Kind and humble, they made our stay one to remember. From “Jam Man” Priyankara serving up the most delicious breakfast, Prassanna for making sure we were fully looked after during the day and to Milan who always made us smile on our return back of an evening. The warm welcome, peaceful and tranquil setting, made us feel instantly relaxed. We can’t thank you enough. Our only suggestions would be to make it adults only, as even one child can change the peace and quiet in an instant. We also think a pot of Sri Lankan coffee would be preferable to the aromatic coffee or Nescafé at breakfast.

All members of staff throughout our stay were extremely helpful and friendly, and felt like we were welcomed into their home. The property is excellent . The pool area and pool is a big highlight. The hotel team helped us organise transport and tours for whatever we would like to do . This included whale watching, surfing in Weligama and a trip down the canal. An excellent choice for a unique stay in Mirissa.

Der Service war atemberaubend: Tuk Tuk fahrdienste, Tourenangebote, allgemein wurde immer geschaut ob es allen gut geht. Großes Lob an Lahiru seine Arbeit und sein Servicegedanken wird von mir groß anerkannt!! Am Tag unseres Check outs durften wir den ganzen restlichen Tag noch in der Unterkunft bleiben und den Pool und den Waschraum benutzen. Zimmer wunderschön und sauber. Gute ruhige Lage. Zwar ein klein bisschen zu Fuß weg von der Innenstadt aber durch den Tuk Tuk Service kein Problem. Frühstück auch mega lecker. Es ist von allem was dabei ! Insgesamt ein super Hotel und große Weiterempfehlung!!! Das einzige was zu wissen ist, ist das in der Nähe ein Partyclub aufgemacht hat, der Freitags und Sonntags recht die Musik aufdreht. Selbst da wurde sich mehrfach entschuldigt und sogar Ohrenstöpsel ausgegeben. Die Musik geht aber ein Glück nur bis 1pm. Trotzdem würde ich das Hotel wärmstens empfehlen!! Ich konnte dann trotzdem einschlafen.
