Guest Reviews
- Caroline (10/5): Spacious and beautiful, truly a wonderful holiday spot - Very spacious, incredibly well kitted out (the kitchen was a dream!) and truly beautiful location. As a group of friends with small children, it was the perfect spot to enjoy a relaxing holiday together - close to the beach, to castles and to the ferry for Arran. Steve, our host, was so helpful too. Wonderful place.
- anthony (7/5): Nice stay but could do so much better - Brilliant location for what we required, loads of space in the house and gardens. The boiling water tap in the kitchen stopped working and we couldn’t make brews.
The sink in the bathroom was leaking.
The oven took ages to cook food.
There was dirty nappies left outside the side door by the kitchen.
Dog poo on the garden lawn

- Julie (9/5): Family weekend by the beach. - Lovely house for family weekend in the centre of Ayr. Great garden for the children who loved the hot tub. The large dining area was great to sit everyone around and chat. Highly recommend this house as it was very clean and well equipped. Very close to both the town and the beach.
- Éireann (10/5): - The property is breathtakingly stunning. Very clean and well maintained for such an old building. Has everything you could need. Only thing I can think of is that the downstairs bedroom would benefit from a mirror. Totally minor!
- Kirsten (10/5): Excellent weekend! - Burnock Lodge was absolutely beautiful. Inside and out was stunning but especially the garden. The rooms are so spacious, nice bedding and decent facilities for everyone. The room downstairs was ideal for my grandmother who doesnt have great mobility so she was delighted! We all agreed that it was amazing value for money, and we all had an absolute ball of a time! I wanted to hoover before I left but couldn't find a hoover anywhere so tried my best to sweep up. Other than that there was nothing bad.

- Diane (9/5): Brilliant festive get away with the family -
- James (8/5): A Christmas stay with family. - It was easy to communicate with the owner, we had a few questions before arriving and they answered quickly.
The house is very large with plenty of space for larger groups.
We stayed over Christmas with 9 of us staying, the kitchen was good for preparing the Christmas dinner, 2 ovens and a quooker tap, plenty of worktop space.
The hot tub was on and lovely and warm even when it was freezing outside.
Bedrooms are large. The house is very large and we found it a bit cold in the morning until the heating got to work, probably to be expected in such a big place. It was below freezing outside though.
We found in the small toilet the toilet didn't flush until the cistern was full and it took a while to fill up.
The sofa in the main lounge is very low (but very comfortable), not so good for our older guests.
Nothing major in all these though.
- Maureen (8/5): A lovely festive break in Ayr. - Nice house and hot tub. Lovely Christmas tree put up for us and the staff were really helpful. There are some things in need of upgrading. We had to buy more cups, dishes and cutlery could be better. Also a manual for instructions and info would be helpful.

- Björk (6/5): An okay stay in a beautiful house - Beautiful house in an ideal location. The garden has ample seating for everyone and the hot tub was nice and clean, easy to use. There is no guestbook, so instructions on the hot tub cover removal, hot tub, central heating, immersion heater shower, cooker, hot tap, air fryers etc don't exist. Hosts did not respond to questions over the stay. No tea or coffee provided on arrival, no toilet roll in all bathrooms, basic cooking spices also missing (pepper, oil, any sauces). Towels were not full size and didn't really work to use in a group of friends without flashing everyone. Considering the price, there was no luxury, mattresses worn and duvets basic, nothing was really provided to make it more comfortable during the stay, and whole property was a bit uncomfortable for us to stay in for the three nights.

- Lindsey (10/5): Outstanding, beautiful house in a perfect location. - Beautiful property inside and out with everything we needed. Very high standard.
- Christian (10/5): -
- Orisakwe (10/5): Amazing stay! - I liked the back garden, rooms, beds, lounge and location, the house keepers were friendly The front house was unkept, the entrance from the kitchen area so unkept, difficulty operating the hot water tap for making tea and coffee
- Chris (8/5): -
- Andrea (9/5): Superb -
- Louise (9/5): Great property that allowed us to meet up and be together during a difficult time. - The property was lovely, good selection of cooking appliances and cook wear. Ideal location, very short walk into the town or to the sea. Unfortunately our visit was to attend a family funeral in the area. Although we would definitely like to return under different circumstances for a relaxing break. The hot tub was lovely and allowed us some chill time and to make the most of a difficult situation. 👍🏼 Not a complaint, as it did not affect our stay however there are a few little things that require attention. The oven door on the right did not always close correctly and the on/off part of the tap on the kitchen sink was loose.
The kitchen is small for the size of the property, although if you don't all gather there when cooking like we did then this would not be a problem!
- Rachael (10/5): Gorgeous house, helpful company, super close to the beach - Location was great, the decor and presentation of the house was perfect, the company were really great with communication and super helpful. We had a great Christmas stay there and would recommend to anyone!
- Jamie (10/5): Excellent property for a large group. Highly recommend - Donnini we're fantastic with great communication so made the process and stay that bit easier and better Nothing
- Linzi (8/5): Step back in time! - The house is ideally situated for visiting the town centre. The grounds and hot tub are both fabulous (even on a cold October night). The hosts (Donnini) went above and beyond and checked in regularly throughout our stay to ensure we had everything we needed.
The house itself is fabulous, like a step back in time. The original features made our break feel extra special and the furnishings were comfortable. There are a range of unique spaces for relaxing, and all with carefully thought-out decor. We had lots of space and the downstairs was particularly warm and cosy.
We loved our stay and would definitely recommend this beautiful house to others. The upstairs bedrooms felt cold in comparison with how warm the rest of the house was.
We needed a few extra amenities, like dishwasher tablets and decent washing up liquid.
The quooker tap was brilliant for quick cups of tea, but not when filling the sink to wash dishes.
Lighting around the hot tub could have been a little better for walking back to the house in the dark.
- Debarpita (7/5): Nice house with bathtub - We had a wonderful time in your beautiful home and hope we can come back soon. The only negative experience was that the house was not clean when we arrived as seen in the photos. It looked like someone had just left and cleaned in a rush, there was leftover food stuck to the pans, mould growing in the sink and the bins were full to the brim. Hot tub was not clean and the kitchen had a nasty smell. Additionally owner asked for a deposit which was supposed to be refunded the next day of checkout, the deposit wasn’t refunded until a week later despite follow ups even though the owner said there were no issues after checkout.
- Caroline (8/5): Very good - Close to the beach and shops. Very relaxing and managed to get some peace that was badly needed.
- Deeney (9/5): Superb -
- Melisa (10/5): Exceptional - A group of friends stayed for the weekend. Facilities were fantastic. And plenty room for everyone!
- Jack (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Louise (9/5): Beautiful house - Beautiful old house, the garden and hot tub were fab for the weather. Lots of utensils in the kitchen for cooking. Great place to hang out and eat as a group! Steve showed me around the place which was helpful. Good WiFi also. We were fascinated that the old servants bell system still partially works! Will definitely be back as a group - lou The only suggestion I could make was more big towels available for when the hot tub is in use, and maybe a mat at the back door so that grass isn't tread into the conservatory =)
- Melanie (10/5): Beautiful house for a special occasion or friends and family break. - Beautiful house and gardens with lots of space for everyone. Hot tub was great too 😊
