• Nancy (10/5): - We stayed in the King suite for one night and it was fabulous! The inn is located about 7 miles out of Montplier but the property was quiet and beautifully situated. AnnMarie & Joe were wonderful hosts and we enjoyed our conversations. We highly recommend this b&b!

Within a few short minutes distance to Montpelier, this is a great place to stop for the night on an advanture, or stay for a while and enjoy the great views. The owners are incredibly helpful, insightful, and have a deep appreciation for organics, agriculture, and the natural world. Make sure you don't skip breakfast- the made to order scrambled eggs served with a thick cut of fresh tomato and the homemade yogurt with fruit compote were the perfect kick start to my busy day!
• Graham (10/5): - What a privilege to spend a night close to downtown Montpelier but at the top of a countryside hill in a stunning home. Joe and Ann Marie are gracious hosts and their home is idyllic. They truly make you feel part of their family and so it still feels like the family home it once was for them and their children. Great breakfast cooked to order by Joe himself. Don't miss this treasure in America's smallest Capitol City.

• Jeff (10/5): We went home to a place we haven't been before - Excellent location / room and hosts! Ann-Marie and Joe went above and beyond to provide a warm,cozy and wonderful stay. From the gorgeous sunsets to the deer grazing in the fields below our beautiful room, to the friendly and delicious breakfast of omelets cooked in coconut oil surrounded by bacon, home made yogurt with compote and toast, to the spirited and thought provoking conversations, it didn't seem like a bed and breakfast, but rather a welcome stay in their home. Highly recommend!!
• Linda (10/5): - I wish I had more time to stay in this beautiful B&B. The accommodations were exquisite, and everything was well-run and well-kept. I took a chance to stay there since the more recent reviews were terrible, but all of the others were top-notch. I am so happy that I listened to my intuition. The property, inside and out, was beyond my expectations, and I will definitely be staying there again. Ann Marie and Joe are excellent hosts, and Joe even cooked an amazing breakfast!!! You are one lucky woman, Ann Marie! The vistas from the room and the main building/B&B were majestic, to say the least. My stay was exactly what I needed during this time of high stress in our lives. The only down part of my stay was when I had to leave...I can't wait to go back! One thing I will suggest is that people not have heavy luggage since one has to contend with stairs, but then, how many houses have elevators? LOL! Thank you, Ann Marie and Joe, again, for being such amazing proprietors!
• suzanne (2/5): - Good breakfast. Hosts did not allow passage into their kitchen and there was nowhere to sit on the property except our room. On the second night, we lost all water, so could not flush and we needed a toilet badly. We left early, did not pay for the second night
• Verified traveler (4/5): - Our experience at High Hill inn was definitely not representative of the cost to spend the night. Although our room was neat it was very small and upstairs which meant we had to carry luggage up steps. Our bathroom was only assessable from the hall, which was not very convenient. Our breakfast was very good but the kitchen and entire downstairs was completely cluttered with “stuff”, piled in any open area. The porch where we entered was piled with boxes and the yard was very unkept. The pictures on their website misrepresent what High Hill Inn looks like. Definitely not worth the $$.

They took the time to chat with everyone at breakfast—and MAKE breakfast, fresh, for everyone—and made sure I had everything I needed and was comfortable. They also don't hover over you, just make sure when they see you that everything is going well. Adorable room, adorable little details (cookies and chocolates on the dresser). The house has one of the more beautiful views I've ever seen. I truly hope to be able to stay here again some day!
• Paul (8/5): Nice and Secluded - Our hosts, Ann Marie and Joe were delightful. We enjoyed chats with them upon arrival and at breakfast. Our room was spotless and quite spacious and comfortable. The home is definitely off the beaten path up in the hills overlooking beautiful forested hills and secluded on its 50 acres of woods.

• Anne (10/5): THANK YOU!! - Ann-Marie and Joe are two of the friendliest and most caring hosts you could hope to have at a B&B. Both of them took us and two other last minute guests during the flooding, and though they had no notice, they were quick to react, preparing comfortable rooms, ensuring everyone's safety, and contacting local officials in town to help us plan for the morning. The breakfast served in the morning was also excellent. I must also say that the views from the hill are spectacular as advertised, and there were a number of friendly animals on the property that added to the serene environment. All in all, we are so happy we managed to stay here, and hope to do so again soon under better circumstances!

Both Ann-Marie and her husband Joe were very hospitable offering information about making our stay the best experience. My husband and I loved the quaintness of Vermont. The room and bed were clean and comfortable and the breakfast was excellent. Would stay here again.

We stayed in the King room which was very spacious with spectacular views of the mountains and an extra-large soaking tub ! Ann Marie & Joe are very warm & welcoming and their delicious breakfast is thoughtfully made with local ingredients - you won't leave hungry! It felt like staying with family!

• Dawn (10/5): Beautiful views - We enjoyed our stay so very much! The views were perfect and the space was like home. The proximity to town and Norwich was great as it was so easy to get in and out. We were welcomed as if we were family and treated that way our entire stay. Breakfast in the morning was fantastic, fresh ingredients straight the farmers market the day before. They hosts had wonderful recommendations on where to eat and what to see. The entire weekend was filled with wonderful memories!

I stayed in a king room upstairs- wow it was so spacious & the bed was superb- plush, softest linens & in the morning upon waking I saw 3 deer outside my windows. • Lara (10/5): High Hill Heaven! - The High Hill Inn is set atop a rural landscape brimming with fall color. My aunt and I stayed here two nights. The first night, we discovered we had no rental car. Our hostess, Ann-Marie, went out of her way to help us including picking up our dinner the first night when we had no delivery options. The next morning, Joe made the most fabulous French toast from locally-made bread with coffee from the Artisan roasters just outside of Stowe. Both breakfasts were well-prepared with ample protein and carbs for the day. There is no microwave on the property, so everything is fresh, but served quickly at request! The hosts take pride in using only biodegradable materials and locally and/or organically grown foods. Though the mood is casual, it is clear that cleanliness is important which made us feel at ease with the pandemic in full rebloom. Our trip was made even better by the generous and well-appointed room with excellent views and a patio to enjoy when warm enough. This is a quaint and hospitable spot that we will likely frequent again!

The inn is only a 10 minute drive from Montpelier, where the restaurants and shops are plentiful. We loved this place!
• Ella (6/5): - We stayed at the High Hill Inn on 9/16 2021. I really wanted to give it 5* because of a quiet area, comfortable bed and white clean towels and linens, but I need to tell that pictures on their website are outdated. There was no common area for the guests to enjoy... the nice touches such as fresh baked goods or cookies, coffee, or tea were missing too. The only sitting area was a table with plain 6 metal chairs on a deck. The owners said they had recently remodeled the kitchen and closed their office, so that must be the reason for all of the clutter everywhere. We had a king size bed room, it was clean and comfortable. It had a spectacular view of the countryside with deer in the evening and turkeys in the morning. Unfortunately, the jet tub was out of “jet”, the owners said they can’t get the parts from Canada to fix it. Breakfast was a small dish of yogurt with fruit compote, scrambled eggs, bacon, juice, toast and coffee. The place was peaceful.
• Randy (10/5): - Beautiful home tucked up in the hills with a unique set of bedrooms. Our third-floor suite was really nice with a little balcony overlooking a gorgeous view. Our hosts were gracious and cooked a wonderful breakfast for us. Would absolutely stay again.

• Wayne (10/5): - The facility is great, the hosts are wonderful, and the country breakfast was terrific! My room overlooked a meadow and mountain ranges complete with deer eating their breakfast (fortunately not mine) in the meadow in the morning. The goats are fun to watch and the grounds have trails to follow. They even grow some of the food that is served in the big country kitchen. The place is situated well into the woods and is very quiet at night. You can even walk outside at night and see the milky way, something I no longer can do at home because there are too many lights around me at night to see them. The inn is a great place to vacation in and relax.

• Geir Rune (10/5): Winter Weekend in High Hill - I stayed in High Hill to be near skiing areas and it was within a comfortable driving distance to Sugarbush. My stay was excellent and the kind hosting couple gave my weekend a very homely feel. The B&B is also very close to Montpelier which is nice for dinner and maybe a beer.
• Verified traveler (6/5): Very cluttered. - Very cluttered. Stuff was everywhere...kitchen full of medications, bleach bottles, etc... No locks on individual doors. Nice owners, but not what we would expect for a B&B.

Joe, the owner and host, cooked us a delicious breakfast while entertaining us with great conversation. This was a memorable experience in the mountains of Vermont.
