Guest Reviews
- Marta (6/5): Very disappointed. - Location I was insulted by person sharing the same room and had to report it to the manager and the police.

- Evelynne (10/5): -
- Sarahanna (7/5): -
- Muhammad Zaigham (6/5): It can be better - Staff is nice and supporting and the place got nice vibe. Kitchen is really small (ground floor) and too many people use it. And rooms got really less storage. Cupboard is not enough to fit your things. Plus this place has no activity or entertainment room and really use some decoration.
- Seraj (7/5): - The receptionist was unfriendly at all he asked me to provide him with sensitive information but the manager came and apologised on his behalf.
- Oleksandr (9/5): -
- Catherine (7/5): Cheap room in a fantastic location that’s fine for a few nights - Great location, spotless sheets and bathrooms. Room is tiny but fine. More signage to find lifts and rooms would great - the place is a maze inside. It was bizarre not to get a towel in the room. Also please add soap to the shower rooms at a minimum. The furniture in the room I had is old and needs fixing/updating.
- Oleksandr (9/5): Superb -
- Alper (1/5): Bad - Cheap It was terrible, even with the windows open, the room and corridors smelled terrible. I managed for three days. There's no way I'll come back. Plus, there was no air conditioning, and I was boiling hot.
- Sarah (10/5): excellent location, excellent price, very friendly and professional staff - everything nothing
- Fergus (7/5): Good -
- Valentyna (10/5): Good for students or if you need a cheap stay - Good location and perfect people are woking there!
- Hoshber (1/5): Bad -
- Robert (5/5): Ok for 1 night - Very basic no towels no toilet no air con rooms very hot
- Abdikadir (10/5): Superb - Central London location in Chelsea,South Kensington area with Qatar mosque in 8 minutes walk, Waitrose supermarket in 3 minutes, Kensington Gardens park 15 minutes, Gloucester road metro station 5 minutes, KFC,Burgerking,Starbucks and Tesco all in 5 minutes. Quiet rooms with strong internet and Chair/Table for studies
- Patricia (1/5): Accommodation & Staff Good; Traumatic Roomshare - The Accommodation was good. The room mate experience has been terrifying. This is my second visit. Placed in same room - 401, with a longstanding young lady.
First visit last week, met a job seeking room sharer, whom, I took pity on and shared my food with as she said her Mother and family abandoned her. Stupidly I gave her my businesscard and said if she needed work I might be able to help.
On the second visit a week later, I left while the young lady - Ezeh, was sleeping. I didn’t wake her.
I left room, with my belongings, nothing else, am on staff at my church, so went to Church. I did not look at my messages until after lunchtime. After Church I was surprised to read accusations & threatening messages from her accusing me of stealing her Sony charger!! This was attached to the socket on the wall when I left. So… Not true.I was with my kids Godmother at the time (infact her son works for Booking.com HQ in Amsterdam btw!!), we emptied my bag, I sent room401 Ezeh a photo which showed I only had my stuff!). I have my own non Sony multi-charger and phone chargers packed. I asked her to check floor. But she kept sending-bullying & accusatory insults all of Sunday. She said I have stolen from her & said she knew where I lived and worked, also said she had reported me to yourselves, Booking.com, my weekday employers, and to my Church. She contacted me by Instagram. I have kept her messages but had her blocked, for my lawyers to follow up if needs be. I have no reason to steal from this young lady. And she had no right to pester me all day specifying I had stolen £50worth of charger from her. My daughter is a Police Officer. I am a Teacher and Church staff, there is no chance of me wishing to act contrary to my good nature and nor do anything detrimental to my family’s reputation. This experience has been traumatic and has certainly put me off applying to your Charity for accommodation or hostel private room rentals!! Room reservers or Renters should be warned of the Room401 split character!! I deserve a refund!!!
- Patricia (7/5): Good -
- Dhanshree (8/5): Very good -
- Ian (8/5): Great location and seemed a decent price. - The shower head didn't stay in the holder well.
- Victoria (9/5): Location is great, close to the tube station and staff is very kind and supportive. - Location is great and staff is very kind. Room and toilettes are super clean, maybe a little bit more the kitchen area but is just that.
- Dhanshree (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ric (1/5): It was better than sleeping on the floor outside but not by much - Only good thing was it was within walking distance from the museum Massive disappointment as it was not like the photos. No towels, no cold water in the rooms, small dirty toilet down the hall to share with other rooms, window was broken and didn’t close, curtains didn’t cover window, staff was rude and incompetent, lift broken, taking 8 staircases and everything looked the same made it confusing
- Brandon (1/5): Bad -
- Yousaf (1/5): Bad - Nothing Staff very bad
- Karl (9/5): Superb - Everything was great. Not Applicable
- Samuel (5/5): Good for 1 night emergency stay - close to the underground and grocery shop The communication with the staff and not clean, especially the kitchen, seemed abandoned with food expired in the fridge from March 2024
- Anastasia (10/5): Enjoyable and comfortable - Very clean centrally located well managed property.Staff is polite and helpful
Highly recommended
- Sheeba (8/5): Very good - Spacious cosy bed. No bunkbed Noisy room-plumbing and footsteps.
Dirty toilet and has a transparent window
Slow check in
- Scott (5/5): travelling for work - Location is good for me shower was not working in the room key did not work twice had to have letting
In the night time staff only by three volunteered not pay employee
- Lucia (1/5): Bad -
- Antonin (6/5): Pleasant - Single bed, not a dormitory bunk bed. Provided kitchen facilities with fridge, oven, microwave etc. The kitchen it could be cleaner, the sinks were full of unwashed pots and pans. The price I paid was a bit expensive for Saturday, therefore it could be held, whole of the property, much more cleaner.
- Scott (6/5): Pleasant -
- Hadi (5/5): Passable -
- Jason (10/5): One-night stay in a two-bed room where one bed was vacant in between long-terms stays - This property clearly rents out rooms that are vacant in between long-term residents living there. In my case, the room was very adequate and clean, and the other resident wasn't even home, so I had the room to myself.
- Solo (7/5): solo traveler - the location easy for trave for work toilets to cramped hard to use
- Solo (7/5): Good - location in London was make getting to work on public transport easier toilet were to cramp to easily to use
- Pei (5/5): Passable -
- Talha (1/5): Bad -
- Mark (1/5): Avoid until building materials are moved or completed. Try and stay either in a single - Location I was given a bed, in a twin room (as paid for) but the person was a long-standing resident and it was clearly 'his room'.
I was only there for one night but it wasn't a nice stay. I don't provide reviews but this was particularly bad. I did inform the reception to avoid putting short term visitors with long term residents. So I'm not just ranting on here.
Also random building materials were scattered around the corridors, making for ugly interior.
- Lancelot (10/5): Exceptional -
- Matthew (9/5): Superb -
- Abdul (9/5): Superb -
- Jojo (6/5): Pleasant - Polite staff The bathroom was dirty and tight.
- Ron (4/5): Great location and staff but bad long-term roommate - Very nice and helpful staff. Very good location. When I walked in the room, I could see (and smell) there was someone living there for a long time. There were clothes hanging around. The first thing my roommate asked was how long I was there for. The second thing he asked was if I smoke, and then he added that he smoked in the bathroom.
The above was enough to put me off staying there for any additional nights.
In addition, there was no bathroom on my floor, so I had to climb up the stairs.
Also, there was noise from the street which made sleeping difficult at night.
- Dinesh (10/5): Perfect stay in central London - It was easily accessible to all key locations.. rooms were clean Nothing much
- Angela (5/5): ok - Mariela was super efficient, true human in her essence that's why her effectiveness came across well. many things
- Kevin (3/5): I will stay elsewhere next time. - Location is great. Convenient to Tube and Hyde Park. Staff (Elodi & Csaba) were very helpful and friendly! They went beyond the call of duty to help me. There was a situation with one of the other residents in the room (I don’t want to give his name but we talked about visiting his home country of Sri Lanka and Southeast Asia. So if he is reading this, he knows who he is). The room had a very strong sour smell, like unwashed clothes. It was determined it was him because other people smelled him in other areas of the building. It’s sad that he didn’t know he needed to (or even cared to) take a shower, especially in a hostel. The staff handled this delicate situation with grace and respect. The building was under renovation during my one night stay so there was no place to congregate or read a book other than my room. I spent most of my time at a coffee shop.
The hostel is taking some interesting cost saving measures. They no longer offer towel service…not even to rent or sell them! AND they do not supply paper towels in the bathrooms to dry your hands! WTF! How is this sanitary? I was informed that I could use the toilet paper to dry my hands. Has anyone in the administration of this hostel dried their hands with toilet paper? It just makes a bigger wet mess. I cannot recommend this place.
- Lee (7/5): Good -
- Tino (7/5): Good -
- Ann (6/5): Pleasant -
- Andrew (8/5): Perfect location and accommodation for an overnight stay if you’re on a budget - The location is great and the staff were genuinely friendly and helpful with any questions I had. Nothing.
- David (5/5): Passable - Self catering No shaving facilities
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Anna (7/5): Good - The best thing about this hostel is its location. It was very convenient to reach any spot I wanted to visit. The underground station is close enough to the hostel just around the corner. Also, there are enough stores to buy some food and restaurants/ cafes to visit. It was noisy at night because the window of my room overlooked the road that was busy at night as well.
- Simon (9/5): Superb - Very friendly and helpful staff.
Great location.
My stay was quiet.
- Miriam (8/5): Over all, great cost benefit - Room with a lot of space, table, chair, clothes furniture, night table by your bed, lots of shelves. Halls very narrow, lots of doors along the hall, felt claustrophobic
- Fiona (9/5): Superb -
- Bilal (10/5): perfect for the money you pay - location. facilities all good bro
- Claire (10/5): An very pleasant and peaceful overnight stay. Many thanks - Kind staff, clean, quiet and spacious. Nothing
- Matt (7/5): Good -
- Svetlana (8/5): Very good -
- Marilia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Soheir (5/5): Passable -
- Abotarq (8/5): Very good -
- Holly (9/5): Nice Place in a good location - Great location. I was sharing a room with a couple of nice ladies. You get a proper bed and big lockable wardrobe with loads of space. Fire alarm went off at 3am ish. Fire procedure was really disorganised with guests wandering everywhere. If it was a real situation not sure what would happen.
- Randy (8/5): Very good -
- Mohammed (8/5): Very good - Friendly staff, Great location, Excellent value for money. lack of cooking equipment like plates and si
- Arija (9/5): I felt fine, well cared. - Don't know about the other rooms, our is bright, enough free space, bright. Enough comfortable. Should be good a ventilator for the honest time of summer. :) Some guests ignored kitchen's etiquette and regularly left dirty things.
- Larry (8/5): The building looked quite old but I was comfortable maybe it was because I was there for a short time. The staff was hel - I like that the bed I was given wasn’t in a bunk. The property looks quite old
- Julie (7/5): just needed a bed for the night so was perfect for me - great location shower was rubbish
- Beverley (8/5): Very good - Location perfect for work. Did not stay for breakfast though.
- Catherine (7/5): does the job - easy to find and close to amenities
Good price for location Roommate was smelly and SNORED.
Not enough space in the fridge due to long term residents
Lift not working
- Stephanie (5/5): Passable -
