- Emma (10/5): Exceptional, welcoming and beautifully restored property. - The location was stunning with a rushing rivulet outside the window. The house was spotless and furnished with a very stylish attention to detail. The fireplace was laid with wood ready for our arrival which was a lovely gesture.
- Krista (10/5): Beautiful property in old Hobart! Will stay again. -
- Clare (9/5): Beautiful property with private idyllic courtyard in stunning location. - The Degraves St Old Mill is a charming historical property in a stunning location next to the rivulet.
You can sit in one of the outdoor areas and listen to the soothing white noise of the water rushing by and try to spot the elusive platypus.
The Cottage has been beautifully renovated with modern touches and everything you need for staying as if you lived there.
All items for cooking, laundry, relaxing and reading are provided.
My partner was very impressed with the kitchen equipment (he's a chef) and I loved browsing the library.
Bob and Sarah were easy to contact, super friendly and very responsive.
The location is also fantastic: its a 10 minute walk to the Cascade Brewery and a gorgeous 40 minute walk along the Rivulet into Hobart CBD - we highly recommend doing both during your stay.
Staying here in the summer would be a marvel with huge private out door spaces to relax and entertain and the cooling waters of the rivulet providing relief in those hot summer nights. However in winter the main bedroom felt really cold, even with the wall heater and comfy duvet provided, the wood burning heater in the main living space did little to heat the bedroom.
This was likely because we stayed during a particularly cold snap but maybe providing electric blankets and/or hot water bottles could have helped remove the chill?
We switched to the sleeping platform which was easy for us to access but a little dusty, we wouldn't recommend for those with fear of heights or mobility issues but it was cosy and a great place to gaze at the stars.
- Jacqui (10/5): This great accomodation made my holiday so enjoyable! - This place is marvellous! Rare to find old & new combined so harmoniously; so cosy & funky too. Restored to take advantage of great location beside the cascades rivulet, with beautiful outdoor areas, lovely views. Heaps of good books, cooking equipment/pantry supplies, good art, nice foodie shops nearby, fun to walk into town. Thanks Bob & Sarah, loved my stay, look forward to returning.
