Nada.
- Louis (10/5): -
- Judith (9/5): - The location is great, room was super clean, rooftop has an amazing view and the staff was super nice. The kitchen and fridge could use a more often cleaning but other than that it was great !
- Dario (9/5): Semplice accogliente e “buena onda” - Accogliente. Semplice. “Buena onda”.
- Katarzyna (8/5): Great value for the price! - The rooms are cozy, with hot showers and drinkable water available in the hostel. There's a beautiful terrace with a great view and plenty of space to relax. The breakfast is big and delicious. It's a family-run place, and everyone is super welcoming — I felt right at home. The staff were flexible and always ready to help. Also a great spot to practice Spanish. Highly recommended! The breakfast is big and delicious, though I wish there had been a clearer schedule when it was served.
- Heidi (1/5): Hostel with big risk of thefts - Ramshackled wooden hostel, just one block up a hill from main road (where most buses will drop you off, but main terminal about 2.5km out of town).
Staff were lovely, but if not a bit forgetful.
Tours are available to book at the hostel.
Wifi/internet/network good throughout.
A filling breakfast served.
Small kitchen available.
Laundry service available at extra price.
Warm water to shower (if water pressure kept low). We had a sizeable sum of dollars stolen from the room (they were our savings to pay for our Colombia to Panama boat trip). It was a professional job, expertly done without our realising it (until recounting our money at the next destination).
We reported to the owner who promised to check the security cameras. To date he (Stephan?) has failed to do so (or he's not telling us the truth), constantly claiming he's not there and he's the only one who can access them, and no longer responding to our requests.
We've heard subsequently that the hostel is known locally as a place where theft takes place (also, check the low ranking reviews on this hostel for travelers with a similar experience).
With this, and the notes below, we cannot rate this hostel with a good score.
The trouble with hostels with no rules is that the lowest common denominator prevails.
At night, fellow guests thought it ok to play music and talk loudly into the small hours.
The wooden deck on top was extremely noisy above our room when people walked across it, especially at night.
Other than noisy guests, there was the usual south american sound track (dogs, roosters, motorbikes).
Cleanliness was something to be desired, and the kitchen often left in a mess (when we arrived the fridge was in a terrible state, but the manager did clean it the next day, unfortunately guests would unplug the fridge to use other kitchen utensils then not plug it back in again).
No eating knives available in the kitchen! (And no drying cloth, no hot water to sink).
There was 24 hour access, but often no-one to monitor who was coming in or out and our room was only secured by a small padlock and latch.
The manager forgot to book a pre-planned horse riding tour, so by the time it was reorganised it was quite late into the morning and at a much higher price than agreed.
No visible signs of recycling available.
Cash only.
Our room was a lot smaller than the one shown on booking.
- Anonymous (10/5): Colombian mamma warmth - If you want to experience what it is to be treated by a nice Colombian mamma, with respect, warmth and the best breakfast that you could have in a Colombian home, you should meet doña Aliria. What a sweet and respectful lady. Thank you very much.
- Caro (10/5): Fun - The breakfast included was very good. Na
- Nadja (10/5): Exceptional - Warm and friendly atmosphere, feels like home. Lots of love for Steven, kitty🐈, Tilo 🐕 and mama❤️
3 bed dorms, nice breakfast included, chill rooftop terrace with a great view over San Agostín! Still missing it
- Carolin (10/5): Exceptional - Delicious breakfast, clean, confy beds, only 3 bed dorm room, very friendly staff
- Wing (8/5): Very good - The atmosphere in the hostel was vibrant, friendly and relaxing due to the friendly staff members and the mixture of guests. The room was comfortable enough though a little tight for space and not all sleeping areas have access to a socket for charging up devices. The rooftop area was large and well equipped with chairs and sofa. The bathroom was pretty basic and sometimes one of the toilets could be flushed. Overall, it was a good place to hang out and enjoy day trips to the archaeological sites. Good value too, so no need to moan about anything!
- Elisabeth (10/5): Exceptional - Was one of the best hostels I’ve stayed so far in Colombia. It was so chill and Steven was an awesome host! Super friendly and helpful. Ended up staying there 2 more nights than planned. Totally recommend this place!!
- Thomas (1/5): Don’t stay here. - The location, breakfast, and price are great. Warning: theft alert. A night worker stole my headphones from my bag. They overcharged us for our room. Everyone in town tells you to not stay here. Best to avoid. The hostel is also fairly run down and not nice.
- Lucca (10/5): Exceptional - Very good place!! Recommend it a lot!
- Laura (7/5): Good - People. Top terrace Fridge dirty. Kitchen no easy for two people cooking
- Emilio (10/5): Exceptional - Staff and other guests were great.
- Sian (7/5): OK for a short stay if you're on a budget - Good budget choice in central location in San Agustin...but not the cleanest. The bedroom was a good size. The kitchen was pretty grim, not clean at all.
- Dimitrios (10/5): This isnt a hostel, it’s a home 🏡 - The staff were incredible. It was like i was family upon arrival. The guests were great. The animals and the location were good too. The water in the shower is hot 😁 The bed was a bit uncomfortable and it got a bit warm in the room during the day sometimes. But these are small things :)
- Sam (9/5): Superb -
- Nathan (7/5): Good - It's cheap and it's friendly. The staff were very social and we had drinks a few times while I was there. They provide tour information for the area and offer various services.
The hangout area was nice and there was a hammock for relaxing. Only one toilet and shower for the whole hostel, which meant that you could be waiting to use either and they weren't always the cleanest.
I accidentally left my wallet in the hangout space overnight and when I found it it was several hundred thousand pesos lighter. Not necessarily the fault of the hostel but the people partying upstairs were guests, staff, and friends of the staff.
- Lewis (9/5): Highly recommended - Probably the best hostel I've stayed at in Colombia. Cosmetically it's not brilliant but everything else is so it balances out. They are also doing internal work in the place so improvements are being made.Wonderful staff, comfortable bed, good breakfast that varies a little each day. Excellent location although it's up a bit of a hill. A couple of friendly dogs and a beautiful cuddly cat. Roof terrace is lovely and there's an indoor communal area too. Very good WiFi. Would benefit from another WC and shower but I never had to wait long because of the maximum number of guests possible.
- Dario (10/5): Exceptional -
- Philipp (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing stay!! Styven helped me a lot for a special trip!
- Adrianna (2/5): Very poor -
- Landon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Martin (8/5): Very good -
- Jay (10/5): AWESOME SERVICE - Steven, te owner, is sweet, funny and kind person to approach. His mother treat us like family. I just fell in love with his family service and care.
- Davecabio (7/5): Hostel with potential, but it needs more care - The hostel is in a good position, it has a very good price with a simple but good breakfast included. The kitchen is good enough to cook basic stuff. It has lockers and nice dogs. There is only one toilet and one shower, the fridge is very little for everyone and there are no rules to store stuff.
There is no way to come inside without someone opening the door and it happened two times in the early morning and one in the night that someone was knocking at the door, waking up the dogs that stayed barking and we as well.
The common area needs a bit more attention to make it enjoyable.
- Morten (6/5): Pleasant - Very friendly mother and son is handling the place. Makes very good breakfast. Hostel is situated well in town. Dorm rooms are very small and with no windows or air circulation. It gets very stuffy and smelly.
Only one bathroom and shower.
Door to bathroom cannot close or be locked.
I guess the price reflects the standard.
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional - Good people. Funky atmosphere. Very busy place lot of travelers. N/A
- Bes (9/5): Superb -
- Łukasz (6/5): Decent. - Good, peaceful atmosphere.
Welcoming staff. No electrical sockets in the room.
Not very clean.
Sometimes there was no water in the shower.
A very loud area and chickens outside the window were singing from the early morning.
- Andrzej (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jack (7/5): A madhouse - The place was active with locals and travellers having a good time. The breakfast was good.
- Quang (10/5): Amazing hostel. - Everything Nothing
- Anne (10/5): A warm friendly atmosphere - Everything was great I can find no faults
- Weronika (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mathilde (7/5): Good - Go there for Steven who is really kind, or if you like to socialize it's a nice place to stay. Really noisy with the road in the morning and during the day /night because the wall are really slim. The hostel is on construction so it's basic comfy at this moment (but it's ok) . Only one bathroom is also not enought...
- Alexandra (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stéphanie (8/5): Campfire atmosphere! Steven is the best, him and his mom are so welcoming. - Friendly owners. Feel like home. Location and price are perfect. Bedroom and bathroom are clean. Campfire atmosphere. Cheap laundry The kitchen, I honestly didn’t want to use it. Not clean, especially the fridge.
- Jayne (10/5): Cute, family run welcome - Such a friendly welcome. I felt very at home. Such a sweet, family run place. Amazing 😍 They gave me so much information about what to do. The location is wonderful.
- Edwin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hannes (7/5): Good - Nice staff, good breakfast and location. The place is not the same as advertised, since they have moved. The new place is under renovation and not quite done yet. Perhaps it will get better once finished, but for know there are certainly better options.
