Guest Reviews
- Anonymous (1/5): Unhappy and extremely disappointed with Booking.com - I am extremely unhappy that my accommodation was changed twice from time of booking.
I was unaware Booking.com pushed bookings to AirBnB. If I had known this accommodation was an AirBnB I would not have progressed the booking. Fortunately, the receptionist was lovely and helped me navigate through the mind field of AirBnB booking process. As mentioned above, I did not like the fact that my booking was managed by AirBnB nor was I happy that my accommodation was changed twice.
The AirBnB manager was rude, unhelpful and appeared not interested in my concerns. The small apartment we ended up with was not up to standard. The shower had mould in it, there was only 1 bed which my granddaughter and I had to share, the furnishings were cheap and nasty. Collecting the keys from a fence on a vacant block seems ridiculous. It was not what I expected when I booked Cultural Oasis. I have used Booking.com for many years and have always been happy with the service however after this latest booking being handed over to AirBnB I will have to reconsider all my future booking providers.
- Gary (6/5): Great location and very clean. Car parking good once you have keys. - Location was excellent, Unit was clean and tidy Picking up the key from lock box. The lock box was located across from the apartment complex. The road was very busy and construction of a new building at the site of the lock boxes made finding them quite confusing. We were fortunate to have our car in a parking lot nearby so that we had time to find and access the lock box. Anyone arriving by car would have a terrible time. The lounge is broken and very uncomfortable to sit on. It has been covered over by a blanket so the owner knows it is broken.
- Sally (7/5): Good -
- Daiana (8/5): Very good -
- Van (4/5): Disappointing -
- Steve (10/5): Exceptional -
- Myisha (9/5): Had a lovely weekend enjoyed the pool n facilities the location was perfect with great view -
- Brooke (4/5): Couldn’t get into the room until an hour and 15 mins after check in as keys were lost. We had groceries for the fridge s - The room was cute They hadn’t cleaned out the fridge from the last people and there was cans in there.
Staff couldn’t find our key for an hour and 15mins
Staff was very awkward and laughing saying sorry when apologising.
There wasn’t any spare toilet paper in the hotel either and we run out.
- Sayed (9/5): Superb -
- Karen (7/5): Good -
- Wendy (8/5): A relaxing staycation - The location was perfect as it was very close to everything we needed. It was also very quiet even though it was a busy weekend with a convention just down the road The air conditioning didn’t get cool enough for me but it would be fine for most people.
- Victor (9/5): It was a comfortable stay - The location was good. We walked everywhere We would have liked a sheet on the bed. The Doonna was too hot
The door lock to the sliding door is broken.
There was no plug to the kitchen sink and no dish cloth.
- Lisa (2/5): Pretty disappointing - Location It wasn’t cleaned properly and smelt terrible like stale cigarettes and musty. Also I arrived at night and didn’t realise there was only a tiny amount of toilet paper!! No shops open late at night nearby to buy some. The bathroom products looked old and the doona didn’t fit the bed!
- Regan (2/5): Done the job - Location Was very dirty,
Floors dirty
Dust everywhere, poor quality for price
- Frans (6/5): Pleasant -
- Stephen (8/5): Very good - Location was ok No hot water , no response from management
- Casey (8/5): Very good - Nice place The bed was really hard
- Ross (7/5): Was ok. - Great location for Brisbane's cultural venues. Easy walk to Southbank and the CBD Lockbox was 2 blocks away. Cleaning was a bit lacking. 1/2 can of tuna left in fridge, cat toy under bed. No water glasses just a large number of wine glasses, no cups and only 2 mugs available.
- Gunanidhi (2/5): Communication is too poor - Nothing Communication
- Helen (5/5): Passable - Great location for our purpose Check in system a shocker....premises known as Eve and Ivy..not what is on booking.com.....
Very confusing...notified 1 day before key has to be picked up at a different address...inconvient when you have s person with special needs. Would not book this property with booking .com...direct with Eve and Ivy.
- Anonymous (1/5): Illegal drug paraphernalia in room, management did not care - Good location. Walked in and the apartment stunk. Found paraphernalia for smoking drugs in the top cupboard. Immediately contacted management and was literally told to open a window.
Have asked for compensation and have received none from the property as I was told I couldn’t prove it - despite photos and an email chain. Booking.com despite having “values” that they don’t tolerate illegal activity have simply offered a $50 voucher … so essentially I have to spend more money on a website that basically supports drug use in its listings.
Don’t recommend staying here if you don’t like the smell of stale marijuana smoke, should have reported it to the police. Or looked for the drugs that may have been somewhere with it.
- Erin (9/5): Superb -
- Lisa (5/5): Convenient to where we needed to be - Great views Not enough towels for 3 ppl and that’s what I booked for. Also wasn’t even any coffee and the tea bags were all wet at some point and not even a small milk
- Wayne (8/5): Very good - Amazing position to south bank and amenities The view was not the same as on the website
- Gayle (4/5): Disappointing - The smell emanating from bathroom was horrible
- Phil (10/5): Great accommodation, clean! and good location - The property was easy to find from key collection to property location.
The space was well used and looked big.
A good location for access to local offerings.
Modern with home comforts.
Great fridge , washing machine and dryer
Air con was good Bottled water on arrival would have been nice for that extra special ‘feel’ as a guest. As in a 2ltr bottle from Cole’s is all I think. Guests travelling seek water the evening / water as is low cost.
Inexpensive pod coffee Machine rather than sachets of instant , as no one drinks that anymore. Hope this helps.
- Sandi (2/5): Maybe avoid until Apartment drain odor is corrected (not by covering up with plastic mats) and other issues are resolved - The ‘only’ redeeming quality for this stay was the location to the Exhibition Centre Brisbane which was a few minutes walk from the Apartment. This has been one of the most disappointing and unpleasant stays I've had to review. We were given instructions the day before arriving that there would be a drop box pick-up of keys at a different address to this City Apartment. I have had to pick up keys from different locations before, but it has always been within the advertising of the property not the day before arrival. The key pick-up wasn't easy. Navigating your way around Brisbane's one way roads is challenging and you can't double park. It would be confusing for visitors/foreigners/elderly to access keys. Inside the Apt there was an overpowering rancid/sewage smell coming from x2 drains in the bathroom which were covered by plastic mats. This was confirmed and acknowledged by the Owners who are aware of the problem within the Building, but omitted to disclose this information at the time of Booking. This terrible nauseating smell went thru the whole Apt. If they knew about this issue then they should have disclosed this FACT before Bookings are made. Only 2 out of 3 lifts were working. The dishwasher in the Apt wasnt working, wire tied around the internal swing arm stopped it spinning, there was NO instruction manual. NO kitchen sink plug either. All these being 'confirmed' by Owners. NO tissues, a minor detail but usually in accomodation. 17 wine glasses but no serving bowls. Rubbish Disposable Shute on that floor was LOCKED so rubbish was left on the floor. There was unfortunately a Fire Alarm Warning on Saturday Night, that caused all 30 floors to evacuate. Walking down 16 flights of stairs to join a couple of hundred people outside. This wasnt the accommodations fault, but just added to its unpleasant stay.
- Angela (7/5): Good -
- Evelyn (7/5): A little disappointing for the money we paid for one night. - Very good location. Handy to restaurants and theatres. Comfortable bed. Very bad smell from the bathroom. A solution of a cover for the drain was offered by the host after we arrived. There already was a cover over one of the drains and it was still a very bad smell. I think a professional plumber needs to sort out that problem as it is very off putting. No wine glasses which I brought to the hosts attention. Also, no milk in the apartment. Some long-life milk would be appreciated.
