Guest Reviews
- Rachel (9/5): -
- Ann (9/5): Spacious and comfortable stay - Spacious well equipped unit. Very clean plenty of storage space for clothes and food. Close to beach and shops Shower and toilet had problems with dripping.
Entry is at the rear of a restaurant through a small car park.
- Wendy (6/5): Needs some work - Close to beach and shops. Good facilities. On arrival the accommodation smelt strongly of fresh fish. The owner was contacted and he sent the cleaner around to open the windows again and spray the unit. It improved it somewhat, but it was still rather unpleasant. You need to understand that the passage wall backs onto an industrial fridge from the restaurant adjoining. It was very noisy prior to closing from customers and staff and then the fridge was also noisy. It also emitted a loud squeal at times during the night.
The shower taps need new washers as despite turning them off as tight as you could they continually dripped fast. The shower also leaks onto the floor and you needed to place a towel on the floor to clean up the water.
Double bed was not overly comfortable for one person, so difficult for two.
- Sarah (10/5): -
- Lynne-Maree (9/5): Enjoyable stay. - Plenty of space, washing machine a bonus, great location, easy to contact host. Couch was a bit uncomfortable.
- Jo (6/5): - Location exceptional, tasty blackberries on the driveway entry. Lots of bangs throughout the night, dripping shower taps, uncomfortable couch and cold unit; took a long while to warm up.
- Bel (8/5): - Walking distance to the shops and beach, great location.
- Lindy (8/5): The town of Penguin is peaceful & attractive and the locals are friendly. Happy to return. - The location, size and facilities of the accommodation were very good. I would stay in this accommodation again & recommend to others.
If you order takeaway at the restaurant next door they will deliver when ready, 2 negatives were the low wattage of the main light in the living space & bedroom & the lack of a bin in the bathroom. However, on the plus side, the lamps in the bedroom are bright enough if you want to read at night & the lighting for kitchen & bathroom is excellent.
Some noise from the restaurant kitchen next door is heard in the house however once I knew what it was it didn't concern me,
I did have an issue with the lock box. When I entered the code & pressed the button it didn't open however I was helped by the neighbours. May be my lack of experience.
- Pam (7/5): Close to amenities with private parking - Location, parking and roomy Bed was hard
- simon (8/5): Great value - Great location 2nd bed set up
- Bourke (8/5): - Location and very comfortable It did not have any outlook
- Simone (7/5): A well located place but not suitable for three adults as we had booked for. - It was convenient. It said it had a sofa bed but it had an old single pull out camp type bed and no real sheets and when I asked them to change how they advertised they did not so alas I need to set it out here.
- Donna (10/5): - Proximimity to everything
- Chris (7/5): Very clean lovely bed but very noisy. - Clean and comfortable bed. Quiet new. Bar fridge in kitchen was very loud. Could hear from bedroom.
Next door thru a plaster wall industrial refrigeration running continuously. It was all contributing to very noisy environment.
Can’t understand that it was set up like that.
- Valerie (10/5): -
- Vanessa (9/5): - No breakfast, we found a lovely bakery very close
- Aleen Jordan (8/5): - Location
Quiet and private Beds were rather uncomfortable, but everything else almost made up for it!
- Michael (10/5): -
- Tina (10/5): -
- Gladys (10/5): - Quiet,lovely food and close to the beach .
Felt like home.
- Dao (10/5): Exceptional - Location was great, close to everything, penguin cafe in front had yummy food :-)
- Cathy (1/5): Horrendous would never stay here - don't waste your money - Nothing was not at all like the description in the blurb. Did not like anything. The "house" is actually a flat at the back of a restaurant and it is hard to find pass the rubbish of the restaurant. The blurb says 2 beds but there was only 1 bed. It was very disappointing, and we had to stay somewhere else. When we complained because there was only 1 bed (no sofa bed nor a bed made in the living area) I received 2 nights refund out of the three I booked at the reduced rate, in all I lost nearly $200.00.
- Cathy (9/5): Have stay here twice now and will definitely stay again. - Very central, clean easy parking. Will definitely stay here again
- Daryl67 (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was exceptional. The bed the shower the food on-site was unbelievably good. Pizza, Massaman beef and Red curries were fantastic. Literally minutes walk to the beach. My only regret was we were only in the area for 1 night. Next time I'll stay at this place for a week. All the staff we dealt with at the restaurant were great. Food delivered hot out of the oven to our door.
100/100.
Also, if you're in town on a Saturday don't miss the market. It was great to buy local produce and listen to some live music.
- Sear (3/5): Poor - Lousy bedding cheap mattress couch needs replacing business next door hear all the noise have to hang clothes to dry in car park no extra linen if you stay longer as we were there 8 nights staff next door were great and very helpful were told nothing about the unit being joined to a business
- Hutchison (10/5): Exceptional - Location was great. Property clean and comfortable.
- Joe (9/5): Fridge - Fridge needed defrosting. A very reasonable arrangement was made in exchange for my suggestion that I defrost the fridge.
- Garry (3/5): Not a repeatable experience for me. This should have been a better experience than it turned out to - Not alot in the end beyond the movie we saw on Netflix..... I travelled for work reasons first thing Monday.
My expectation at a minimum is peace and quiet, a comfortable good nights sleep.
Not having to go in search for milk or watered down hand wash at the price paid! At $170 a night this place was not good value!
1. No blind on backdoor to protect your privacy especially with the bathroom right next to backdoor? Who doesnt think a window covering on a large glass door is necessary in that situation ?
2.The stove hotplate waa left on when we arrived, I nearly burnt my hand that's not safe?
3.The kitchen tap not secured the top of the tap flicks off when you use it.
4. The bathroom light doesnt work!
5.At a cost of $170 why didn't supply a drop of milk for Tea & coffee.
REALLY NO MILK we arrived on a Sunday night then had to buy milk for a cup of tea?
6
The restaurant next door is ultra noisy, it was hard to hear ourselves.
Then several times we were forced to listen to songs coming through the walls from the restaurant as they were getting louder and louder. Drowning out the TV?
7. We arrived to someone splitting wood in the carpark?
The restaurant seemed to have very little awareness of the obviously thin uninsulated walls given theyre need to rented accommodation & we had next to no peace or quiet in the unit until around 9pm
8. The old double sized bed was both low, very hard & uncomfortable.Giving us a really awful nights sleep. With really awful thin cheap pillows with no support.
Again I'm still in shock that the owners think this is guest comfort worth $170?
For 25$ a night more we could have stayed at Marsdens in Penguin as before which is far more comfortable!
Netflix & Apple TV doesnt equal comfort.
They need to review the comfort priorities.
I travel a lot for work & following my experience I recomend saving your money stay elsewhere. I often experience far greater comfort & value for money across Tassie. Its definitely one of my less favourable stays.
Steer clear.
No wonder theres a sign saying if you like it leave a review.
I regretted this last minute work travel booking &
I cant be the only unhappy customer... who regretted staying here
- Cathy (10/5): Exceptional - Clean, well set up. Close to main centre.
- Evelyn (9/5): Superb -
- John (6/5): Great location adequate facilities bed could be better - Location Rooms were adequate with decent internet Bed too soft and bedding not up to expected standard
- Jane (8/5): We enjoyed our one night stay. My husband had a meal at the Asian restaurant and said it was excellent. - Location in the heart of Penguin, perfect for one night. Nothing
- Jeanette (8/5): Very good -
- Hoenderdaal (7/5): Darts champion Australia - That okay ppl walk bk n bk again pass where I stay for smoke outside When we outside they still walking a lot to garage foods etc
- Katherine (8/5): Very good -
- Geoffrey (10/5): Exceptional - Location was great The bed linen was old but it was clean
- Amanda (10/5): Location was great! Nice and close to local shops and beach. Cozy little unit great for a short stay - Location was great! Nice and close to local shops and beach. Cozy little unit great for a short stay.
Parking was off street.
- Steven (9/5): Lovely - Parking bit tight
- Simo021 (8/5): Very good - Location was perfect for where I needed it to be. A couple of streets away from the main street and beach... Perfect!
- Vicki (5/5): Passable - The location was ideal for me,close to facilities and beach. Free parking. I have messaged the owners so they are aware of my opinion of the property. I have given them plenty of time to respond but nothing. It needs attention especially in the cleaning area & ensuring everything is in good working condition. They should replace fridge and microwave as they are not in good condition.
Noisy of a night due to restaurant being right next door.
- Carmel (8/5): It was close to friends we visited - n/a n/a
- Kim (7/5): Good - Was close to all the beaches and the shops. Plenty of heaters in the place was warm. The problems I found was the bed was only a double, 2 dish cloths both were used, had to wash the dishes before i used them. Lounge was not comfortable. Finding the place was a bit hard. No view and a bit noisy from the restaurant.
- Linda (8/5): Very good - Needs a new fridge
- Catherine (9/5): A comfortable, convenient stay . - Very comfortable accommodation. Fully equipped kitchen. Microwave and stove. Utensils, crockery and glassware, cooking implements. Location right in the heart of town. There were two remote controls for the television. The smaller one for the smart TV did not work. I think the batteries must have been flat. I mentioned this after my stay , so it should not be a problem for subsequent visitors.
- Schinkelshoek (7/5): Enjoyable stay. Good location and comfortable unit. - Breakfast NA. Location good. Poor lighting in the living room / Kitchen.
- Ian (10/5): Exceptional -
