Guest Reviews
- Darryl (4/5): Quite acceptable, would stay again. - Our choice was the proximity to the salt lake. We came to view and photograph the area. Staff were friendly and the meals were good. Beds were comfy. Locals didn't seem to mind us. Streets were eerie quiet in the morning, change from city life. Facilities need a little improvement, I didn't mind the amenities down the hall, but, showers and door locks should be improved (I work as a locksmith and we had expensive cameras so this is a bug bear of mine) Hot water delay not really an issue but tapware needs attention, particularly showers. An information brochure should be looked into as sometimes staff fail to remember everything (human trait, not judging).
- KATHRYN (8/5): ROOM/BED WERE COMFORTABLE -
- Caroline (10/5): - What a beautiful place to stay and eat. Everybody was friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was some of the best we have had and the red wine at the bar was lovely. The room with balcony door was lovely and the bed was very comfortable. The balcony was great to relax with a coffee. I was worried about the shared bathroom but it was no problem at all. Everything you would need was there and we were opposite the kitchenette which was great, with a fridge to keep bits and pieces in. There was nothing we didn't like
- Janice (9/5): Relaxing & food was good - Balcony was a lovely spot. Kitchen could do with an upgrade
- David (9/5): - Very polite staff 👌
What i really appreciated was the fact that the community came together as a cooperative to refurbish this beautiful old heritage hotel. They have done an immaculate job in restoration in the dining room, upstairs bedrooms and beautiful old bathrooms. The verandah area is beautifully restored overlooking the main street. Particularly at sunset. If you enjoy classic historical pubs with polite young staff. You must visit. Very affordable. Why would one stay in a boxed motel! All good.
- MUGHAL (8/5): -
- Emma (8/5): - Great staff, great food and nice spot to rest while we were travelling. Balcony was relaxing.
- Jingmei (8/5): -
- Matthew (10/5): My father in law, brother in law and cousin rode up for the day and stayed here. The rooms were clean and comfortable, - The food, the vibe, the community. Everything NA
- Robert (8/5): -
- Robyn (2/5): Disappointing, wouldn't stay again. - Restaurant down stairs in the pub was nicely done up and staff were all lovely. Ordered budgets 3 and the beef burger was quite tough, dessert was amazing! Room was misrepresented in booking.com, only thing in room is a chair table and bed, everything else is shared by other guests including kitchen facilities, fridge and bathroom which was 15 metres down the corridor.
There were patrons drinking outside, (under our room and verandah) noisey and intoxicated until after 130am! The noise settled shortly after this time and then finally got to sleep and woke to a room filled with smoke smell at 3am, ppl still down stairs talking (quieter than before 130)with a fire going and all doors upstairs to the rooms open including balcony door. All our belongings smelt like smoke and had a sore throat by morning.
We were tempted to leave at 0400 if it weren't for the possibility of hitting wildlife on the road.
There was a camera outside our balcony door that would no doubt see in our room as there is a window above door. Blind had been left open above door high enough to set in from camera. Needed chair to reach the cord to drop blind down lower to be given privacy, pictures attached.
Wouldn't ever stay again, was really disappointed with our night at the hotel. Wouldn't recommend to anyone wanting to get any quality sleep between days of driving. Expected some noise above a pub but this was next level and the smoke was unacceptable.
- Richard (8/5): -
- Annemarie (10/5): Highly recommend value for money - Highly recommend. It suited us fine as we just wanted a meal at pub and a quiet room with crisp sheets. Perfect.
- Lynne (8/5): Great Night We would be happy to come back - The room had everything we needed big comfortable bed and a smart Tv
Shared bathroom the shower was hot and good pressure. Shared kitchenette everything was very clean.
We had the best steak dinner at the hotel
Staff were all nice and friendly
- Mark (9/5): -
- Kevin (8/5): - Such a cosy hotel with great night life and our room opened right onto the huge balcony which was perfect for playing cards in the evening. Shared bathroom was a little bit of a pain but it was was clean with hot showers.
- Hung Renita (8/5): Good stay. We will be back. - Good location and nice restaurant down stairs
- GARRY (8/5): GOOD AS A STOP ON A LONG TRIP - N/A LESS NOISE FROM ENTERTAINER
- Fiona (10/5): -
- Timpano (10/5): Great pub, great food, great friendly service and facilities were CLEAN - The room and shared bathroom were very clean. The small kitchen was also clean. The pub has recently been renovated to a great standard. The food was great and the staff were very friendly. There was nothing.
- Anne (9/5): Comofrtable, relaxed and beautiful building. -

- Petrina (9/5): -
- Fernando (8/5): - Second time there. The hotel doesn’t disappoint. We also had dinner and it was excellent. We will come back
- Matt (7/5): - Location Noise
- WEINER (10/5): -
- jenna (10/5): We had a wonderful overnight stay. Staff were lovely and the rooms were beautiful and clean. We also enjoyed a great mea - Beautiful pub, lovely staff and a room to accommodate our dog. Only one toilet in the ladies shared bathroom.
- Coline (10/5): - Staff was amazing, food was great, room was exactly what we needed and the balcony a real plus. We loved the atmosphere in this community held and operated pub. Highly recommend!
- Doug (7/5): Lovely in a country town. - It is good to support a Community run hotel. Nothing.
- Janine (9/5): Warm welcome, grand old building in a great location run by the community - Community run grand old historic building
Location - close to silo art, lake Tyrell
Food
Welcome Shared bathrooms - but part of the experience :)
- Ross (9/5): Perfect stop along the Silo Trail - Lovingly restored old pub Guests need to be mindful of other guests and not make too much noise in and around their rooms
- Gabby (7/5): A beautiful old hotel on the way to Mildura. - A great old hotel. Get a balcony room, it’s very nice to sit outside. A moderate price to stay here. Shared bathroom doesn’t bother me, but it might upset some. No place to put your clothes, but doesn’t matter for one night. I’d still stay there again, it’s fun.
- Tilde (9/5): -
- Megan (10/5): -
- Luigi (9/5): - Very good staff helpful and smiling. 😀👍
- Ingrid (10/5): -
- thomas (10/5): Great staff, good vibes, cozy - Peaceful
- Tom (7/5): Good clean room, friendly staff, centrally located in town. Pub meals were very good - Bedroom, bed, location shared bathroom, toilets. Did not realise that when we booked. Was not an issue on our stay due to vacancy in other nearby rooms.
- Faying (9/5): -
- Steiner (8/5): -
- Katharine (9/5): - Beautifully restored building, very helpful staff.
Clean and comfortable rooms.
Great access to car park
- Trent (5/5): -
- Annette (10/5): A must stay when coming to Sea Lake/Lake Tyrrell! - Have stayed here on numerous occasions and love coming back to such an amazing authentic country and community pub/hotel. Great facilities, great accomodation, great people & great food. Will be back! It's too far to come back for regular stays...
- Hung (1/5): -
- Adolf (9/5): - OK
- Heinrich (9/5): - This is a country Pub Hotel taken over by the local community. We love to support this kind on business.
- Laura (10/5): Very good! - Beautiful rooms and comfortable bed. No ensuite available in the rooms, bathroom are shared bathrooms, they were clean it’s just a bit inconvenient not having a bathroom/toilet nearby.
We only stayed one night so it was ok.
- Andrew (9/5): -
- Linden (8/5): Clean spacious Classic old hotel with character and charm - Classic old hotel with charm and character. Clean, spacious and comfortable. Excellent area choices to choose from to eat, from restaurant area, front bar to beer garden. Aircon worked fine and kept us cool but might need a service as it froze up and spat ice in the middle of the night. Wasnt a huge issue however just adjusted the temp. Wasn't aware no private bathroom was a shared bathroom with other guests with only 1 female shower and toilet was ok but you need to time your bathroom usage well. However we enjoyed our stay and it was good value for money.
- Tracy (8/5): - The verandah outside the rooms
- How (9/5): -
- Mathew (7/5): Over all was good - All was good The shower needs some maintenance as tge rose kept falling down, and seem tgey have removed tge breakfast since last time I stayed there
- Bernard (9/5): -
- Dominic (10/5): - Friendly staff and excellent food.
- Mark (9/5): -
- Marie (10/5): - Was central to seeing Lake Tyrell and also the silo night show in Sea Lake. Hotel was clean, comfortable and well priced. Nothing
- Clare (8/5): Great stay at a true Aussie pub. - The Royal Sea Lake Hotel has a wonderful 'vibe' and given the story of its recent restoration you can understand why. It is very well patronised by locals and travellers alike and is a true reflection of an Aussie pub. The restaurant food is no match on what it was last year when we stayed, a result of the change in chef. Previously, the food was a standout.
- Kang (6/5): -
- Neil (9/5): -
- James (8/5): Very Nice, Clean and good service - The big guys struggled with the 2 smaller beds BUT it was OK- OK for smaller people
- David (7/5): Great country pub. - Staff are fantastic and the pub is great venue. Food very good I just can't enjoy shared bathrooms.
- Edgar (9/5): Absolutely fantastic would highly recommend to friends - Dinner was delicious especially the Mango Crème Brûlée Hot water in shower upstairs
- Ricky (10/5): - Clean and tidy, staff are friendly
- Graeme (10/5): -
- chao (9/5): -
- Yong (9/5): -
- Bianca (8/5): Nice, clean and comfortable. - Overall, the family room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Shared bathrooms and toilets, which were also relatively clean. Only one bathroom and toilet for the women, but I had it to myself during our one night stay. We enjoyed the meals at the hotel for both lunch and dinner. Just as well as not much else was opened in Sea Lake on a 47 degrees day. We ventured out to Lake Tyrrell for the sunset, very pretty but lots of flies. Silo activation show at night was interesting. Extremely creaky floor and aircon kept going off. It was a crazy hot day so the poor thing may have been overworked.
- Belinda (8/5): - It is very close to the Lake Tyrrell, only about a 10 minute drive, so we could go there to watch the sunset, head back for dinner, and then return later for stargazing.
- Anthea (10/5): My fav stop on the way to Mildura - Exceptional staff who are very friendly and welcoming. Rooms very nice. Beautiful outdoor balcony.
- Anthy (6/5): Great food at the hotel restaurant. - Great location The bathroom and toilet are shared, and the floorboards in the bedroom make creaking noises with every step.
- Alex (7/5): - Location Needs some TLC and a deep clean
- Louise (8/5): Great stopover spot on journey north - Great food, great location, lovely verandah, awesome staff. Wish we'd had longer there to do the stargazing It was a bit noisy at night time above the pub
- Becky Li (9/5): Very accessible location with the added bonus of a great pub downstairs for easy meals. - The location is excellent and very easy to get to.
One of the best parts about staying at Royal Hotel Sea Lake is that there’s a pub right downstairs. It makes grabbing a meal or a drink incredibly convenient after a long day of sightseeing.
Highly recommended for its great accessibility and hassle-free dining!
- Marielle (9/5): -
- Kerry (10/5): Great little town, excellent accommodation and good food at the hotel. - A really friendly atmosphere, food was excellent at the hotel, shared bathrooms were clean. Nothing.
- Melinda (10/5): Top value, historic hotel in centre of town with comfy rooms and an amazing balcony. - Fabulous, authentic country pub with incredible balcony, great service and comfy rooms. Bathrooms are shared but was not an issue as hotel was quiet. Excellent value for money If hotel was fully occupied, the one ladies shower and toilet may be annoying.
- Jacques (9/5): -
- Lachlan (9/5): -
- Mei (7/5): - Beds are comfortable and staff are nice Too much noise of the floor and WiFi not very good too.
- Alison (8/5): - This hotel is one of a handful in Sea Lake. Large airy comfortable room; very clean; plenty of parking next to the hotel and good pub food. Lake Tyrrell is about a 10 minute drive away. Felt very traditional with its wrap around verandah. We had shared bathroom facilities, which we weren't quite expecting, with shower and toilet some way down the hallway from our room. It felt a little bit set up for students or longer-term residents, but perfectly nice.
- lionel (7/5): - The balcony oversees the quiet street. Nope
- Yuting (9/5): Nice and cozy place! - Nice and clean place to stay, especially the shared bathroom and toilet, more clean than I was expecting, definitely recommend it!! All good!😊
- venessa (9/5): Nice stay over for Christmas holiday to spend with family - Close to where family lived. NA
- Mary (8/5): Great pub. -
- Susan (8/5): Convenient, comfortable and welcoming. - Staff were welcoming and helpful. Room was clean, comfortable. It’s really convenient to have a room that is pet friendly. Unfortunately this visit the shared kitchen upstairs was very dirty, food scraps left in the sink, on the floor and on the table.
- Elaine (7/5): Great - Meals are delicious
All staff are very friendly
- jenny (10/5): - Well equipped and clean Nothing
- Jean-Pierre (9/5): -
- Philip (8/5): Would stay again - Clean, excellent staff Very noisy when trying to sleep after 10:00 but only the locals enjoying their Friday night
- Richard (10/5): -
- Wendy (8/5): - The country feel and friendly staff
- cheryl (9/5): Beaut pub. Better than expected - Everythingz Zero
- Chiara (10/5): - Il pavimento cigola come nei film horror! Per il resto tutto piacevole!!
- ramona (6/5): -
- Thomas (9/5): -
- Chenglong (7/5): 除了地理位置,其他情况都不能接受 - 酒吧不错 没有独立卫生间,且公共厨房脏乱差,水都放不出来。
- Nicole (10/5): - Very clean, open late as we arrived late, so that was good. Was able to order meals
- CJS10 (10/5): Fantastic - worth a detour; make sure this local initiative succeeds! - Great experience - very friendly staff in the pub and restaurant. Great that a traditional old hotel has been brought back by the locals. It deserves to be a great success Nothing
