Guest Reviews
- Deb n Pedro (10/5): - Private and close by to everything. The train though it's a necessity.
- Pamela (7/5): - Such a lovely cottage and garden. We love trains.
- Louise (7/5): - The property had all one needs for a short stay. Hot water in shower was great. The banging on the roof/walls was quite disturbing and a little frightening during the late evening. Not completely clean, coffee stains on coffee table. Noise from diesel trains at times during the night.
- Jack (10/5): Simple, easy and good value. - Simple, everything I needed. Nothing.
- julie (8/5): Tiny garden cottage in suburban garden was warm and clean. - Location 1km from station suited us. Short walk into town for dinner and breakfast. Bendigo wide streets, avenues of autumn leaves, marble monuments, parks and colonial architecture, all delightful. People are friendly, warm & welcoming. Wine bars stocked with local and international wines. Tapas plates interesting and affordable. Bottle shop nearby for further supplies for Mildura.
Heaters kept the cottage cosy. Bed was firm & comfortable. There was a banging noise on the roof at various times. Not loud enough for a possum. Could have been tree branches or noisy pipes. The nearby train track was not a problem. Our holiday house at home is next to the train line.
- ROBYN (8/5): - Perfect place to stay for passing thru.
Beautiful gardens and just as described
The bed was a highlight very comfortable
The trains going past didn't worry us at all and we didn't use the provided ear plugs.
Good local pub short walk away for dinner.
- Kevin (7/5): Just right - Excellent location Na
- Kerry (8/5): - This accommodation is cosy, comfortable and homely. The gardens are beautiful and the outdoor BBQ area inviting and relaxing. Being able to store our luggage on-site was very convenient. The frequent diesel trains running right next door was sleep disturbing, especially as the road crossing is also adjacent to the property meaning the trains blew their horns as they passed. Ear plugs were provided which was thoughtful.
- Sebastian (8/5): Great peaceful place for a long weekend - Property located in a very nice big garden with bbq and outdoor area. Great location at the end of quiet street within walking distance to central Bendig, very comfy bed, very handy kitchen with good facilities. Attention to details with cleaning as I found a few long black hair on the floor.
Windows and window nets could be clean as there is lots of cobwebs and dead flies.
- Tanya (8/5): - Good cost effective option Nothing really. Train noise wasn’t too disruptive.
- robyn (8/5): I’d stay again - The bed was comfortable and the pillows were extremely comfortable. The water was hot and the garden beautiful I didn’t get a text with the lock box code so had to ring the host to obtain it
- Lochlan (10/5): -
- judy (8/5): - Amy the host was very helpful. We had a minor problem which she handled immediately and very well
Easy walk to town
- Andrea Whimpenny (6/5): Tiny & secluded in the city. - Secluded, a bush setting in a regional centre. Very comfortable bed. Its not luxury yet it is enough!
- Kim (8/5): It was very comfy, the gardens had beautiful and peaceful seating places for reading or hanging out. - It was a short walk to Bendigo centre and had all the amenities we needed. It had a smell of smoke when we first entered, almost like the previous tenants had smoked indoors.
- Sharon (8/5): -
- Gerald (6/5): Great location, clean and reasonably well equipped. Could use a wifi upgrade and pest control. - Location was fine. The guest house was clean, reasonably well equipped and easy parking. We didn't mind the trains as we only heard one train in the middle of the night. Walking distance to the tram, train station, grocery stores and woollen mill. WiFi was one bar at best and often would not connect. We used our own phone plan instead. Each evening (we stayed three nights) we could hear critters waking up above our ceiling (not roof). Likely possums but never saw one. All was quiet at night so it didn't disturb us when we slept.
- Kevin (8/5): - Comfortable couch plenty of room Bed a bit tight on one
Side
- Geoffrey (9/5): Great value, central, comfortable ... what more could you want for a short stay? - Very central location, within easy walking distance of Bendigo CBD (so no need to drive to reach restaurants), and not a single train noise ... despite the property proximity to the local rail line. We were visiting from a large city, so train noise is no big deal anyway!
- Christine (8/5): - self catered I stayed during the heatwave, the aircon struggled but That is to be expected in such weather. The ceiling fan assisted greatly
- AbigailCooper72 (9/5): short stay whhile participating in run festival - location perfecyt, centrally located. very easy to contact host if needed. no issues at all
- Robert (7/5): -
- Carol (8/5): - Dirty outside door stuck in bathroom coffee was ofc
- MichelleandGeoff (10/5): Great place - Location, price and all it’s offerings Bed was a little soft for me but not a deal breaker.
- Kate (7/5): -
- Hilary (8/5): - Good advance communication made arrival/departure run smoothly. Yes, the railway runs alongside the property, but didn't cause us any sleep disruption (earplugs are also provided). Easy on-street parking at the front gate. Just a short walk into the centre of Bendigo - plenty of bars/restaurants to choose from and a Coles supermarket a few minutes from the property. Also, it was very handy to have (shared) access to a washing machine and tumble dryer onsite. Only one seat was provided on the veranda. We had to "borrow" a dining chair from an adjoining property.
- Susan (9/5): - Location great , clean unit had everything. Nice ptetty setting in the shady gardens. Easy to access Would have liked to sit at the outdoor tables and chairs. They need a bit of love.
The inside of unit very clean, the outside windows and walls need some love too. However, very happy with our stay.
- Dale (9/5): - A hairdryer would have been useful
- Andrea Whimpenny (8/5): Cosy and peaceful. - Private and peaceful, thankyou AMY... I will book again. The trains are a bit close however I got used to the sound.
- Louella (8/5): Look forward to coming back next week! - Cute, quiet little cottage, close to everything.
Bed was comfy.
Loved the sound of the trains.
- CHARITH LAKSHAN (8/5): -
- Maria (10/5): It was perfect- will return when back in Bendigo - Felt homely and comfy -
- Robinson (7/5): - Location and good value for money, nice outdoor settings Bathroom could have been cleaner
- David (8/5): - Everything
- JUSTIN (10/5): Great bungalow set in a beautiful garden. Easy to heat easy to cool - Practical bungalow set in a beautiful garden
Very short walk to the cafes and shops of central Bendigo.
Small kitchen with sink, microwave, kettle cutlery and crookery.
Nice bed, clean with excellent internet.
Laundry available to share. All Good
- Christine (8/5): - Comfortable self contained cottage. Walking distance to town center & hotel.
- Justin Healey (9/5): Nice bungalow in a beautiful garden close to everything in Bendigo - Check in messages are clear and concise. Place is clean and well maintained. Good shower and quality toiletries.
Plenty of power outlets, garden is nice and large. Plenty of places to sit without bothering others even when every bungalow and the cottage is in use There are roadworks but it's not a bother.
All else is good
- Bruce (9/5): - Lovely garden and funky communal areas. Very short walk to the town centre.
- William (7/5): A reasonable place to stay that was a fair rate. - Ok stop over for one night…plenty of room and clean. Nothing
- Kim (9/5): Great, would stay again - Cute cottage in semi rural setting. Close to walk to everything. Nothing
- Trudy (10/5): - Very clean space, nice & quite. It had everything we needed. Very comfortable bed & lounge. The thermostat doesn't seem to be working as it froze some of our food. There could be a bit more lighting on the pathway to the outside deck, cottage to the car.
- JUSTIN (10/5): Well managed cottages sharing beautiful garden space - Three cosy cottages on a large block.
Excellent beds and linen.
Nice garden plenty of space to sit and relax
Nice BBQ
Well set out and managed. No complaints
- Vicki (8/5): It was nice - There was only a tiny mirror in the bath room and it was that high on the wall I could only see my fore head in it as I’m 5’2 this made it hard to get ready
- Thoman (9/5): Different and refreshing - The old style garden and buildings Distance to car park and rough paving - hard to roll bags on
- Louella (7/5): Thank you. I know where to stay next time. - It was cosy and quiet. Love the sound of the trains. I was able to check in early and it’s walking distance to town.
- Elin Marie (8/5): Nice and cosy, can recommend - Very cosy place in walking distance from train station.
Nice bed linen. Some spider webs in the bathroom roof (no spiders to be seen though).
I see the noise from the train is mentioned by many - this did not bother us.
We did not hear any trains between 22 and 5 or so. If you want to go to bed early or have a sleep in and you are noise sensitive, you should still consider coming here, but remember ear plugs. Come to think of it, there might be ear plugs offered in the cottage. Apart from the trains, the place is peaceful.
- Anthony (9/5): A relaxed stay in central Bendigo - Relaxed treed space with privacy & all facilities, onsite parking and walkable to the city & the railway station Earplugs were provided. The rail line is close by, so you hear a few trains, mostly daytime, but they didn't bother us.
- Sandra (8/5): -
- OLGA (8/5): - Location Loud noise from the train at 5am in the morning
Then at 6am, then at 7am….
- Thomas (8/5): Very good accommodation for a couple, clean kitchen and bathroom, only 10 minutes walk to railway station. Good value f - Good facility, location, clean kitchen and bathroom. Good value for money. Bedding was not that clean.
- Tyson (8/5): -
- katy (5/5): Great location and price for a short stay. - Good location, walking distance to town. Off street parking was great . Space was quite small for 2 people. Unable to use kettle and toaster or toaster and microwave at the same time as power board kept shorting. Train noise was OK and didn't bother me too much but I am used to truck noise at home. Take your own coffee machine if you don't want instant.
- John (8/5): -
- Heather (8/5): Lovely stay - Great little cottage with everything I needed Next to a train line. Bring earplugs!
- Debbie (6/5): Lovely country garden setting but could not sleep comfortably - Close to CBD.
Lovely quality large towels.
Hot shower with good shower head.
Sink in kitchen had been recently installed.
Comfortable lounge.
Lovely yard. Right on the train line which we read about so knew, but it really disrupted sleep so could not stay there again. Others mentioned earbuds left but there were none left for us. We stayed a week so bought some but sadly they didn’t stop us being woken up.
No security light when walking to unit & outdoor light was not working either.
Mattress & pillows were way too soft for us & no extra blanket for the bed so had to use the one on the lounge. A larger doona would be great as it only just covers the bed without bodies lifting it up & letting the cold sneak in. The unit was quite musty (maybe hadn’t been opened up for a while) & the air con seemed to blow dust so because of allergies we just left the windows open most days to freshen the air & that helped.
- David (5/5): -
- Robyn (8/5): I stayed by myself for 8 nights. The cottage was very cosy and the garden was beautiful, especially on sunny days washer - Very cosy and comfortable. The garden was waiting too. I stayed for 8 nights and the fridge was a bit small and no other cooking facilities.
- Annmaree (8/5): Lovely little cottage close to town - Great location to town Be aware that this property is right over a fence from the train line so early morning trains are quite frequent and loud.
- Michelle (8/5): -
- Miffy (7/5): Great location and host, just a few things need an upgrade. - The location was perfect for us. Very close to the evening event we were attending and a short walk to town for breakfast the day after arrival. The studio was cosy and had pretty much everything you need for an overnight stay - shampoo and condition, plates, glasses, fridge, tv, etc. The heater was efficient and warmed the studio really well. The shower dripped constantly and the bathroom smelled very musty and mouldy - like the floorboards were rotting. The bed needs a new mattress/base - it sagged in the middle and rolled us into the middle of the bed. Very uncomfortable. The wi-fi was poor - one or two bars at most.
- Sheila and Nhan (7/5): Clean comfy place - The cleanliness, seclusion and safety Train sounds esp the bell
- Janice (8/5): -
- SUZANNE (10/5): A cute and thoughtfully equipped tiny house. Would recommend this and great value -
- Rebecca (3/5): Poor - There was rank water with maggots inside my kettle. And the water that came out literally smelt like feces. It must not have been cleaned or used of some time.
- Vincent (3/5): Poor - Extremely close to the train line and level crossing
Between the boom gate alarm and the night trains , I barely slept .
Pretty cold at night
- Ellen (9/5): Superb - Excellent walking location to Bendigo city . Very comfortable for 2 people. Excellent water pressure . Lovely garden setting . Comfortable bed and very clean. Lots of natural light . We didn't find the proximity to the train line affected our sleep at all. Great value for money. Nothing . Better than advertised .
- Helen (9/5): Great location, comfortable and good value for money - Good location an easy walk from train station and town centre, easy to locate and access. Pleasant setting, quiet although next to the train line which we liked. Clean comfortable, easy to heat (it was cold weather). Good shower with instant hot water, warm cosy bed, books to read, lots of windows, so good light. Nothing
- Melinda (9/5): Superb -
- Sabah (8/5): Very good - Good location, the garden and the shed. (Need to get your own firewood) The hot water system.
- Sandra (8/5): Very good - Location and cosiness
- Hall (9/5): Superb - Hosts went above and beyond to provide accommodation after a late request.
- Hall (9/5): Superb - Surprising little gem close to city and train. Loved discovering all the eccletic nooks and crannies in the garden.
- Anthony (9/5): Superb -
- Heather (8/5): Cute and cozy relaxation with city adventure - Additional facilities were lovely, walking distance to city centre and tourism, cozy and cute Broom or vacuum weren’t available to use
- Davey (9/5): loved it. will definitely stay again - nice place, location, so quiet and relaxing. would be nice to have a hair dryer.
- Maud (9/5): Superb -
- Arthur (8/5): Very good -
- Cynthia (9/5): Very comfortable with all requirements at hand, quiet and in lovely setting. Host always handy. - detached cottage with windows all around set it lovely garden scattered with autumn leaves.
occasional light train heard in evening but not overnight.
very comfortable bed. Lounge area with couch.
Handy to shops and cafes. Locked box for keys a bit tricky.
- David (4/5): Disappointing -
- Tom (8/5): Very good -
- Katherine (9/5): Superb - The dwelling was well equipped, and a reasonable size. The bed was very comfortable. You are close to shops , restaurants and many attractions. Good parking. The railway line runs across the back, so is very noisy
- Richard (9/5): Superb -
- Hope (9/5): Will stay again it was a lovely stay - Central location and nice space and setting
- Kieran (8/5): Very good - This is a very cosy place that's well situated and set up. Great garden setting that creates a relaxed, casual feel to the stay. Our cabin was well appointed with all the essentials and ideal for a couple. Being next to the railway line does mean you know when a train passes and is probably not ideal but it is a country line so the frequency is not high.
- Caroline (7/5): Good - close to centre of town, private, quiet in terms of other people, access to laundry facilities in shared space. price was good comparative to other options around town. bed was comfortable. I really liked the WGAC bamboo toilet paper and natural shower products. no access to off-street parking on this occasion as other guests were given priority. wifi was quite weak but just enough to do emails. being so close to a train line crossing with boom gates the bells and train horns are very loud - but I did appreciate the ear plugs provided for this purpose.
- Kay (10/5): Exceptional - Very sweet The train but u got sleep
- Laura (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (4/5): Disappointing - Great location, good gardens, bed and shower were ok. The trains pass adjacent to the property and sound like they are going through the room. Room required airing.
- Whitehouse (5/5): Passable - The garden like setting. Cute little rooms/cabins. The fact you had to take all the cutlery and crockery to an outside shed to wash them. The shed was dirty and was like a party shed. There was a sign to say if the washing up wasn't done you could be charged extra but there were no kitchen facilities in the room.
- Robyn (8/5): Perfect for - There was no breakfast included … location good except for early 4am train
- Tina (7/5): Small and comfortable for one night stay - Great little cottage
Close to what I needed
Provided lots of things for a comfortable stay
Bed wasn’t that comfortable unfortunately .
I didn’t like that I had to go out side to go wash my dishes
At a camp/ communal kitchen. Definitely not what I was expecting.
Definitely had plumbing problems..as the sink kept filling up with water and not being able to empty..the same with the toilet..it was blocked so I could flush it or go to the toilet. Serious issue
- Paul (8/5): Very good -
- Joan (8/5): Beautiful set up, great location to the city. - Great location to Bendigo, so close to everything. Train noise. We got used to it.
- Simon (7/5): Good -
- Amy (8/5): Very good -
- Alistair (8/5): The accommodation suited our needs very well. - Good location. Plenty of room. Trains close by were a little annoying at times but there weren't many and they didn't disturb us overnight. Dishwashing facilities in the shed a bit primitive but adequate. The short partition alongside one end of the bed made it a little difficult to get in and out on that side and made access to the bedside table awkward. Not a significant problem - just an annoyance.
- Anita (5/5): Passable -
- Bev (8/5): A sweet cottage retreat - A self-contained and unique set up Nothing
- Natalie (6/5): Pleasant - Proximity to town
