- Kevin (2/5): Beautiful property – but disturbing experience with animal cruelty and aggressive management respons - The place was nicely presented in a beautiful location We stayed at what is undoubtedly a beautiful and well-maintained property. However, our experience was seriously impacted by a deeply distressing incident involving animal cruelty carried out by individuals who appear to reside permanently on the premises. On two separate occasions, we witnessed a young child throw a cat into the water—both times in the presence of adults who did nothing to stop it and, in one case, even laughed.
As a family of animal lovers, this was incredibly upsetting—especially for our children. We raised the issue directly and respectfully with the property owner, hoping it would be taken seriously and handled appropriately. Unfortunately, rather than acknowledging the concern or offering any meaningful reassurance, the response was defensive and, ultimately, aggressive.
The owner not only refused to take responsibility but accused us of blackmail for simply stating we would share our honest experience if no action was taken. He has since informed us we are no longer welcome to stay again. This reaction was even more disturbing than the original incident.
We strongly believe guests have the right to feel safe, respected, and heard—especially when serious concerns are raised. Sadly, that was not the case here.
Unless there is a genuine change in how guest feedback and animal welfare are handled on this property, we cannot recommend staying here.
