- Abla (1/5): - It’s a SCAM. Please don’t waste your money❗️the apartment was in a terrible disgusting condition. The bathroom particularly was even more disgusting 🤢 I couldn’t use it during my stay. Everything was extremely dirty, disappointing and unacceptable. Even the pillows were dirty. The pictures have nothing to do with the reality. Once I saw the condition of the apartment, I contacted the host. He said someone is coming to clean it immediately. He also said that I should stay in the apartment so when they come, I’ll be there but I just waited and wasted that day in vain. Nobody came at all. I contacted Booking.com customer service to find a solution. they sent him emails and tried to call him multiple times but he doesn’t pick up or answers the emails. By far, this is the worst place I have ever stayed.

- Gard (8/5): Barebones, but functional and accommodating. - Key exchange was simple with a keybox right outside the door.
Simple and somewhat bare necessities accommodation, but I didn't really need more. Standard of the living room/bedroom was good and clean. A small kitchenette with oven gave me what I needed to make my own meals.
Excellent public transport opportunities almost right outside the door, with service going until late at night, and only about 10-15 minutes to Essen Hauptbahnhof.
With the apartment facing a public park, there were little traffic noise to speak of, even with the window open. No elevator, so stairs were a bit difficult with my overweight suitcases. Luckily only one flight to climb.
No standing shower, but the bathtub had a shower head so I could sit down for a quick "shower". Exposed wiring connection for the bathroom lamp was a bit worrying, as it was directly opposite the tub and there were no showercurtains.
The refrigerator compressor could be a bit noisy, but didn't run much.
No aircondition, luckily the outside air was cool enough with the window open. Would imagine summertime could be a problem.
