• Stefanie (9/5): - Das Zimmer war hübsch eingerichtet und sauber. Das Personal war freundlich und zuvorkommend. Als es ein Problem mit der Zimmerkarte gab, kümmerte man sich direkt um eine Lösung. Das Essen im dazugehörenden Restaurant war sehr lecker. Von der Anlage aus gelangt man direkt an einen wunderschönen großen Strand. Die Strandliegen sahen etwas mitgenommen aus und könnten erneuert werden.

En el restaurante el menu no estaba disponible del todo por falta de insumos, eso limitaba la elección. Piscina no estaba en funcionamiento y en su lugar solo nos ofrecieron como compensación, ir a la de otro hotel, ubicado muy lejos, a unos 15km.

• Mariel (10/5): Una experiencia inolvidable - La ubicación es perfecta, con fácil acceso y cerca de otras playas para aprovechar y conocer. El personal super amable, atentos y chineadores. El señor acargo de los jardines nos trajo sillas a la playa para que estuviéramos mas cómodos sin haberselo pedido, lo que me pareció un gesto increíble. Las chicas de recepción, las del restaurante, los señores del bar, las muchachas de limpieza, todos super amables y dispuestos a atendernos de gran manera. El restaurante y el bar, 10 de 10. No solo la comida estuvo deliciosa, sino que además el servicio fue rapidísimo. Los cócteles riquísimos y el precio más que acorde con la calidad. Las instalaciones están en inmejorables condiciones. El gimnasio está perfectamente bien equipado, limpio, con A/C, baños impecables y sistema de sonido. Tener que irnos.

• CHRISTINE (5/5): Bord de mer très beau mais restauration pas à la hauteur. - Situation bord de mer avec une belle plage. Chambre spacieuse. Un mariage avait lieu dans le jardin de l’hôtel nous n’avons pas été prévenus alors que l’hôtel aurait largement eu le temps de le faire. Le repas du soir nous a été offert en compensation suite à notre déclaration de mécontentement. Le petit déjeuner était vraiment très basique et peu goûteux, le café vraiment mauvais. L’hôtel est très isolé, le jardin peu entretenu. Tapis de bain sali non changé.

• Jean (1/5): Budget motel stay at resort prices - The best redeeming factor about this place is the beachfront location. This place is definitely not as advertised. We had booked multiple nights here for a beachfront resort vacation, but ended up only staying one night and transferring elsewhere. The whole place feels semi-abandoned: it’s dirty, dusty and unkempt, with random green fencing placed up to cover certain areas and multiple features (like the poolside bar) broken/not functional. The room felt old and musty, there were stains on our sheets and towels. Overall this place has a budget motel feel, which is fine if that’s how it’s priced, but for what we were paying was not at all what we were expecting. We ended up moving to a resort down the road which was actually less expensive and infinitely better quality, and they told us this happens often that guests from sunset Del Mar end up looking elsewhere to stay.

Jedoch ohne Auto kommt man nicht von A nach B.. die Preise im Hotel sind auch horrend.. sprich vor Ort erst Aktivitäten und Fahrten zu buchen sind nicht zu empfehlen -das Personal war weder hilfsbereit noch freundlich leider.. aber menschliche kompetente ist natürlich auch eine tagesverfassung -frühstück war ein Witz leider.. sehr miese Qualität und super wenig.. auch nur all la carte, extras wie obst, käse brot sind mit 4 dollar pro item weder günstig noch akzeptabel bei einem eigentlich inkludierten Frühstück
• IngeJon (9/5): Lekkere getaway - Dit hotel is prachtig gelegen, met een lekker zwembad en direct aan het strand. Vooral het middag en avondpersoneel is erg vriendelijk. Fijne bar en het eten was heel prima. De kamers zijn prima, schoon. Voor ons prima locatie voor de doorreis terug naar San José. Hier en daar is het complex wat verouderd.

There was no water pressure for showers at certain times They need to provide a shuttle service to Centro. Cabs are too expensive…

We have seen birds, slots and everything....but unfortunate the property is run down.. Actually is was very disappointing.... I don`t know why but the whole complex looks like a ruin... Everything is run down... Cleaning of the rooms needs to be improved (we arrived very late at the hotel, but in the morning we asked for changing the sheets, towels because they looked very strange..) There is no cleaning at the pool.. Breakfast is a la carte with a few and limited options...

• Abbey (8/5): Great beach stop between Tarcoles and quepos. Beautiful beach and much wildlife to spot on the property. - We stayed one night to add a beach day to our vacation. The beach was absolutely beautiful and felt very private. We did not swim in the ocean but exploration was so much fun. my Son found so many beautiful seashells and Sand dollars. We saw two sloths and drank/ate fresh coconuts on the beach. Lots of birds and lizards. Excellent food at the restaurant. No complaints

• beatriz (9/5): Primera línea de playa - El alojamiento se encuentra en primera línea de playa pero hay que tener en cuenta que no hay nada cerca, para comer en algún restaurante o comprar cualquier cosa hay que coger el coche, es algo a tener en cuenta. La piscina muy bien y el personal muy amable. La habitación estaba bien, ni grande ni pequeña, limpia y con aire acondicionado. Al no tener nada cerca, creemos que aprovechan para subir un poco los precios del restaurante. En general un buen hotel que recomendamos. Hubieron problemas con el WC que dejó de funcionar por una avería. Tardaron un poco en solucionarlo pero lo hicieron.
• Felix (8/5): Es un excelente lugar para pasar un par de noches frente al mar. - La habitacion estaba impecable, espaciosa y muy acogedora, con todo lo necesario para pasar un excelente finde semana, me gusto que la habitacion es independiente, con vista al mar, tiene smart TV, muebles muy elegantes, refrigerador y coffee maker, ademas de una deliciosa cama. Creo que le falta un poco de mantenimiento en las areas comunes, jardines especialmente. El agua de la picsina se calienta mucho durante el dia, cuando esperas refrescarte en ella.

Le petit déjeuner est cher et améliorable. Les gaufres au petit déjeuner et sont comme les semelles. Il y a très peu de fruits au petit déjeuner.

Insgesamt schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Es gab am Strand nur einige wenige Liegen, davon waren viele schon kaputt

• Sabine (8/5): Tolle Lage an tollem Strand. Tolle Zimmer in den Villen. Gute Küche im Restaurant. - Die Lage ist ausgesprochen toll an einem mega großen Strand gelegen, der kaum von Touristen frequentiert ist. Die Villen-Zimmer waren sehr schön und sauber ausgestattet. Minibar, Kaffeemaschine, Terrassenmöbel waren vorhanden. Das Bett war groß und bequem, Toller, weitläufiger, sauberer Strand direkt am Hotel. Haben Papageie und Reptilien sehen können! Die Mitarbeiter sind sehr freundlich und bemüht. Das Äußere des Resorts ist zwar etwas in die Jahre gekommen, wird aber aktuell aufgehübscht und man bemüht sich sehr.

Hotel etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Die Poolbar nicht im Gebrauch. Ist dreckig mit viel Gerümpel. Es sind viele Kokosnußpalmen am Gelände. Kein Hinweis auf die Gefahr der immer wieder herabfallenden Kokosnüsse. Rezeptionistin eher präpotent. Im Zimmer waren keine Handtücher. Reaktion an der Rezeption. "I will send somebody to check it."

En attendant une rénovation qui pourrait révéler à cet hôtel son réel potentiel - Les chambres, visiblement rénovées récemment, étaient impeccables et bien équipées, la literie était bonne. Même chose pour les salles de bain, spacieuses, très propres, les serviettes d’excellente qualité. Le reste de l’hôtel contrastait fortement avec les chambres : malgré un fort potentiel et une vue magnifique sur une grande plage de sable et de très beaux couchers soleil, le « resort » n’avait de resort que le nom : aucun service, aucune activité, un manque cruel de personnel (moins d’une dizaine de personnes pour l’ensemble du complexe ! ), des installations vétustes, absolument pas entretenues, voire en ruine, le tout donnant un peu l’impression d’un hôtel « fantôme ».

• Mario (1/5): So etwas habe ich noch nie erlebt daher nie mehr wieder. - Super tolle Lage direkt am Meer und sehr leckeres Essen. Unser Aufenthalt war leider in mehreren Punkten sehr problematisch. Im Badezimmer befand sich großflächiger, deutlich sichtbarer Schimmel an der Decke sowie Feuchtigkeitsschäden mit abblätterndem Putz im Schlafbereich. Auch die Vorhänge waren sichtbar verschimmelt. Der Duschkopf war stark verkalkt, verschimmelt und insgesamt in einem hygienisch bedenklichen Zustand. Besonders besorgniserregend war, dass im Badezimmer Wasser aus dem Bereich der Deckenleuchten austrat. In Verbindung mit Elektrik stellt dies ein ernstzunehmendes Sicherheitsrisiko dar. Die Situation am Poolbereich war auch nicht viel besser: Dort standen mehrere Schrauben sichtbar aus dem Boden hervor, was eine klare Verletzungsgefahr darstellt. Wir haben die Mängel mehrfach vor Ort angesprochen. Trotz wiederholter Beschwerden wurde uns kein alternatives Zimmer angeboten. Auch der Service war uneinheitlich: Das Personal am Morgen an der Bar (zwei Mitarbeiterinnen) wirkte leider sehr unfreundlich, lustlos und wenig serviceorientiert. Das Abendpersonal und die Küche hingegen war freundlich und bemüht das möchten wir fairerweise erwähnen. Das Essen hat auch super lecker geschmeckt. Liegemöglichkeiten vorhanden (Poolliegen aus Plastik) Auflagen hat man keine bekommen. Die Liegemuscheln waren ebenfalls voller Schimmel. Die Anlage ist leider sehr ungepflegt. Insgesamt ist der Zustand des Hotels, insbesondere aus hygienischer und sicherheitstechnischer Sicht, für den gezahlten Preis nicht akzeptabel Wir sind sogar früher abgereist.
• ombretta (9/5): STRUTTURA FANTASTICA MA TRASCURATA - la posizione e' fantastica si affaccia direttamente su una spiaggia spettacolare, deserta, di sabbia nera. la struttura e' favolosa, pero' non è curata come potrebbe esserlo e questa non curanza penalizza il soggiorno e il comfort che si potrebbe godere se tutto fosse ben curato e se il personale facesse il proprio lavoro con accuratezza e attenzione e anche gentilezza, perche' no!!! Noi che ci adattiamo, abituati a viaggiare, non abbiamo patito piu' di tanto la trascuratezza pero' e' veramente un peccato che non sia curata perchè il prezzo che si paga e' alto e non rispecchia il servizio che viene offerto. E poi infondo basterebbe un po' piu' di attenzione. La pulizia e' sicuramente da migliorare, sia all'interno delle abitazioni che negli spazi comuni intorno alla piscina, l'acqua della piscina, nella zona delle colazioni/pranzi. I lettini sole, intorno alla piscina non sono sufficienti per la capienza della struttura, e nella spiaggia, cui teoricamente hai l'accesso diretto, non ci sono lettini messi a disposizione dell'hotel quindi o te li prendi dalla piscina oppure ti adatti a stare su quei 2 o 3 di legno abbandonati sotto gli alberi fronte spiaggia da chissà quale tempo, rotti da sistemare con legni di fortuna trovati li sulla spiaggia. (noi abbiamo fatto cosi). La colazione si ordina su menu' e sarebbe molto varia sulla carta, ma poi sperimentando le varie proposte, poichè non preparate a dovere dalla cucina, la scelta si riduce su una o due variabili che soddisfano sufficientemente il palato. Il personale e' cortese, si ma con la sufficienza, quel tanto che basta non poco di piu' Nel complesso questa struttura, se fosse gestita da personale capace e gentile, e supervisionata da un direttore competente potrebbe soddisfare pienamente gli standard che si propone e che sicuramente si meriterebbe. Un vero peccato che sia lasciata in mani a persone che non l'apprezzano come dovrebbero.

• Paolo (2/5): Una vera delusione - Posizione spettacolare per lunghe passeggiate su spiaggia da sogno Posizione meravigliosa per passeggiare sulla spiaggia ma senza servizi nelle vicinanze, serve obbligatoriamente l’auto per qualunque necessità La camera iniziando dagli esterni muri molto sporchi e piastrelle rotte, due sedie con tavolo di plastica davvero di pessimo gusto In bagno mancavano sempre asciugamani e tappeto scendi doccia introvabile, il divano ai piedi del letto macchiato indecente La colazione peggiore del Costa Rica!!! Succhi di frutta confenzionata, stesso menù allo stesso tavolo con cibo diverso( sembrava di avere uno i resti di un’altro), frech toast vergognoso In spiaggia poche sdraio, rotte e senza cuscini Piscina non certo da 4stelle !
• Eva (10/5): - direkter Strandzugang. Wunderschöne Aussicht aufs Meer vom Hotel aus. Schönes Restaurant mit tollem Essen direkt im Hotel. Zimmer waren sauber und hatten an Ausstattung alles was man braucht (Handtücher, Kaffemaschine, bequeme Betten etc.)
• michela (4/5): DELUDENTE - resort posizionato davanti alla spiaggia con sabbia nera lunga chilometri dove potevi passeggiare e tuffarti appena sveglio Resort vecchio e trascurato, camera e bagno non erano puliti benissimo, biancheria da letto ed asciugamani da bagno molto vecchi, divano macchiato che era impensabile aver voglia di sedersi, cassaforte rotta, porta di ingresso svergolata, piscina sporca, sdraio di plastica rotte, macchiate e senza cuscini, bar della piscina sempre chiuso, sulla spiaggia quattro lettini, che non possono essere sufficienti per tutti gli ospiti, senza cuscini e rotti (li abbiamo “aggiustati” con qualche pezzo trovato sparso per la spiaggia). Colazione da dimenticare, dovrebbero innondarti di frutta e ti mettono due pezzi senza sapore nel piatto, french toast immangiabile, uova crude e bacon bruciato…se non si ha un cuoco meglio non cimentarsi! La posizione è eccezionale perché direttamente sulla spiaggia lunga chilometri e magnifica ma Resort lontano da tutto, se non hai un’auto o altro mezzo non c’è nulla di vicino, trovi un hotel a 10 minuti a piedi se volessi cenare vicino altrimenti noi prendevamo l’auto per andare a mangiare almeno ad Esterillos Ovest (città vicine: Jaco a 30 minuti – Quepos 45 minuti) Avevamo deciso di terminare il nostro viaggio con un hotel 4 stelle per goderci gli ultimi giorni invece è stata la sistemazione peggiore. Costo elevato non giustificato.
• rebecca (9/5): wonderful stay !! - loved this hotel - a little gem !! staff were wonderful & very helpful. room was nicely decorated & we had the most comfortable bed & even a sofa to sit & relax on with a very private terrace. the facilities were very good here and the pool was lovely & a very nice bar area. Being so near the beach was a wonderful bonus.

• Mats (10/5): Mycket trevligt. - Hotellet har ett bra läge direkt på stranden. Mycket vänlig och hjälpsam personal. Restaurangen hade mycket god mat med varierat utbud.
• Marc (10/5): Hidden gem - Super friendly staff and amazing suroundings. One of the most beautiful beaches and sunset we've been in CR. The room was nice and clean and well equiped (coffee machine, fridge, Netflix available). We had dinner in the beautifully located restaurant and it's been very delicious. We definitely come back when next time in CR.
• Cabana Luna (6/5): Nie mehr wieder - Die Lage Da weiss man garnicht wo man anfangen soll. In den Bewertungen findet man schon Einige. Ich füge lediglich noch etwas zu. Um die ungepflegte Anlage zu verdauen setzten wir uns am Abend auf der Terasse zu einem Glas Wein. Jedoch der Jauche Gestank machte auch dies zu Nichte. Ich muss dazu sagen, ich lebe seit 30 Jahren in Costa Rica, traf mich hier mit Besuch aus Deutschland, war auch im Tourismus tätig und kann mich nur schämen meine Wahlheimat so zu präsentieren.

• Mora chavez (8/5): Descanso a medias. - La Habitación demasiado cómoda. El trato del Personal de la mañana, muy frío e desinteresado el cambio de turno o sea el Personal de la tarde, muy servicial, empatico siempre dispuesto ayudar o consejería. Hemos estado en Marala en varias oportunidades de la misma cadena, nos recomendaron la visita a Sunset y se siente la diferencia en el trato del Personal, aclaro no son todos púes la recepción muy atenta, mucama simpáticas y Restaurant en las tardes, excelente.
• Norman (6/5): - Das Essen im Restaurant war sehr gut und die Bedienung sehr freundlich, wenn auch ziemlich teuer. Ein sehr schönes kinderfreundliches Hotel, wo man sich wirklich entspannen kann. Der Service war teilweise etwas langsam. Es müssten mal neue Handtücher gekauft werden.
• Donald (3/5): We stayed in 9 Hotels on our trip to Costa Rica and this was the poorest managed. - Room was comfortable and lovely setting. Thank you to Receptionist Nagi who was very helpful. Sad very run down and neglected hotel, poorly managed and regularly running out of basic things (towels, wine & things on menu). Morning staff were very sullen - more enthusiasm towards their guests would be an improvement.
• Tanguy (7/5): Malheureusement en dessous de nos attentes. - La gentillesse et la disponnibilité du personnel est très appréciée. L'hôtel est situé en bords de mer avec un accès direct à la plage magnifique et très sauvage. La maison était très spacieuse mais devrait être rafraichie (peintures et nettoyage en profondeur) La propreté de la maison et son état de délabrement n'était malheureusement pas à la hauteur de nos attentes. Nous avons payés cher pour un resort qui ne nous a pas vraiment donné l'impression d'en être un. La literie n'était pas très confortable. Les femmes de ménage ne sont d'ailleurs pas passées le deuxième jours.
• Friedrich (3/5): Nur für motorisierten Kurzaufenthalt geeignet - Die Gartenanlage, die Zimmergröße und Einrichtung (wir hatten einen Bungalow), große Dusche, Qualität des Essens, Poolgröße Das Bestreben, zu reparieren und optisch aufzubessern Das Resort ist sehr in die Jahre gekommen und liegt am Ende der Welt, unmotorisiert kann man absolut nichts unternehmen. Alleine die Anfahrt eines Taxis kostet 20 $, um irgendwo hin zu kommen. Der nächste Supermarkt etwa 3 km entfernt, das nächste Hotelrestaurant etwa 10 Gehminuten. Der Strand ist sehr flach und dunkelsandig, schwimmen ist nicht möglich. Ein großes Problem sind die zahlreichen Mängel in der Anlage: wir hatten 3 Tage lang kein warmes Wasser, der Safe konnte nicht repariert werden, sehr schwankendes WLAN, die Sauberkeit des Pools - zeitweise schmieriger Film auf der Wasseroberfläche und Dreck vom Garten. Demontierte Poolbeleuchtung und stromlose Kabel hingen in den Pool. Nur drei stationäre Sonnenschirme am Pool und die Fläche um den Pool wurde während unserer 11 Tage nicht gereinigt. Nur billige Plastigliegen ohne Auflagen. Die Poolbar war dauerhaft "out of order". Zimmerreinigung erfolgte nur oberflächlich. Am Strand einige wenige Liegen, dazu noch kaputt oder versifft. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis passt überhaupt nicht, ein kleines einheimisches kostet 5$.

• Cosmin (3/5): An awful and deeply disappointing experience - The location is excellent, right on the beach, and the exterior areas are beautiful, with lush vegetation and a very pleasant atmosphere. I honestly don’t know how to start this review without expressing how disappointed we were with our stay at Sunset del Mar Beach Resort, especially considering the length of our visit (11 nights, 2 rooms). Throughout our stay, room cleaning was minimal, and on our penultimate day it did not happen at all. Cleaning seemed to consist only of making the bed and changing towels—when towels were provided at all, as there were occasions when they were simply forgotten. Despite visible stains on the floor, there was no proper mopping done during our stay. Room 105, in particular, was in very poor condition. The entrance door was extremely difficult to open; we often spent several minutes trying to get into the room. The bathroom ventilation did not work, and the window could not be opened either. As a result, during the night, an unbearable smell coming from the bathroom spread throughout the entire room. Additionally, the TV in this room was not working. It is truly a pity, because the resort has great potential. The location is excellent, right on the beach, and the exterior areas are beautiful, with lush vegetation and a very pleasant atmosphere. Unfortunately, these positives are overshadowed by the lack of maintenance. The pool was very dirty, and the overgrown vegetation on one of the exits toward the beach was barely taken care of. Breakfast was à la carte rather than buffet, which in itself is not an issue, but three days into our stay we were informed that fruit would no longer be served in the mornings. This was disappointing, especially for a beach resort. Finally, the sofa in one of the rooms was extremely dirty, adding to the overall feeling of neglect. Overall, this resort could be excellent with proper management, but our experience was deeply disappointing, particularly considering our long stay and the high cost, which was unjustified by the poor conditions.
