Guest Reviews

- Voces (10/5): Para repetir y recomendar.

- iDimi (10/5): Perfect place for calm and relaxing stay - The setting, buildings, surrounding, food and stuff are wonderful nothing I can think of
- gtn1 (9/5): -
- Gabriela (10/5): Beautiful serene place with wonderful staff and food - Authentic in a serene place Nothing
- Amanda (10/5): Un remanso de paz y belleza! - Gorgeous peaceful location; you can hear the river from bed. Ahhh the bed….the most comfortable bed in Spain, and possibly the world. Also the staff are delightful friendly people. Highly recommend this place!!

- Susie (9/5): An authentic experience in a special location - It’s in a special location alongside the Rio Miño Having to remember to take our keys with us

- Lisa (10/5): Loved it here. Wish we could have stayed longer. A fantastic wedding venue - Superb location, in the countryside, full of character and charm. It felt like we were staying in an old medieval finca. The hotel was immaculate with friendly staff. There was a lovely pool which we enjoyed on a hot July day. The food was something else. Both quality and quantity were perfectly served by the owner who made recommendations and attentive with being intrusive. Unfortunately the shower head was broken which meant the shower head had to be held whilst showering but this was a very minor inconvenience which did not detract from the enjoyment of our stay and the 10/10 score
- Ozalp (10/5): Amazing - - many great things to mention but the food and the chef was beyond excellent - it’s little bit too far, if you want to include this in a trip
- Carol (10/5): Hidden treasure - Simply stunning, Extremely peaceful location definitely recommend a car, perfect for us tranquil, gorgeous food lovely very helpful staff couldn't ask for any more, would 100 percent recommend to those travellers who love the beauty of nature and history, want a beautiful setting with wonderful food where you are made to feel valued and special thankyou Nothing
- Frank (3/5): Unhappy guest unfriendly staff - The room Staff behaved in the worst possible way.
I was asked to wait
Traveled 24kms from where I needed to be on Camino. 30 euros there and back. False information on the booking page 11kms from where???
I was asked for my passport and, like with my previous bookings, would be asked to settle the bill. However, this did not happen. On checking out, I was under the impression bill paid as all I was asked for was mynpassport.
I was then called by booking.com about payment of courseninagreed to pay but not giving my cvx no.
I then arrived at my other hotel and the owner called the. To explain that, I will pay once I am back. This woman was so rude to him. He put her in her place very quickly, telling her that I wanted to pay. If she had done her job properly in the first place, it would have been ok. Only with tgisndis she change her attitude. Horrible experience.
- John (10/5): We didn't want to leave - This accommodation is very special. Having travelled extensively it is a property I would come back to immediately. It is an oasis of calm with the bonus of the patina of age. The charming owner/manager went out of his way to make our stay very special despite not having a common language. We didn't want to leave.
- Lucy (10/5): Exceptional - Everything about this place is absolutely amazing. The restaurant (the food and the service to be more specific) top professional! We love it all! That we spent only one night there
- Susie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Arthur (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tammy (10/5): This place is spectator! - Everything Nothing
- Tammy (10/5): Beautiful location, you will feel like you are staying in a castle! - Absolutely beautiful location, very relaxing and peaceful. We liked it so much we added on an extra night because we didn’t want to leave!
The dinners are phenomenal and the selections are wonderful. Breakfast was also very nice.
We loved walking the grounds and sitting outside with a glass of wine and beer in the afternoon.
Everyone was extremely friendly.
- Alison (10/5): Exceptional - Magical location out in the woods, by a huge river. We booked last minute in a bit of a panic looking for something dog friendly. It was a Sunday evening in the winter so very quiet but we got a warm welcome. Room was comfortable and the Lodge was warm. The staff even lit the wood fire for us. Amazing place to hike and be out in nature. Two pet charges (we were travelling with two small dogs) for the same room seems a bit steep. I know a lot of hotels do this though (2x20 eur).
- Carlos (10/5): Spectacular - The attentive staff. The delicious food. Nothing.
- Carole (9/5): A great hotel in a rural location - Great rural location, lovely room, excellent food, staff very nice, dog friendly The only reason we didn’t score a 10 was because the room got very hot at night and the radiators could not be turned off. Couldn’t open the window as we were on the ground floor….
- Carol (10/5): Exceptional - I cannot say enough about this place! Fabulous location with the most beautiful interior decorating. Stone walls, beautiful antiques, and the lovely flowing water to sit and relax. Food was SO good! Would highly recommend!!!
- Patricia (10/5): My stay could not have been more pleasant. Awesome place to stay. - Beautiful property. The staff was wonderful. Fantastic meals. Loved loved this awesome place.
- Greg (10/5): Exceptional - An idyllic, riverside, rural retreat, perfect to get away from it all, and simply relax totally.
An excellent meal.
- Moss (8/5): Lovely space, nice room and quaint baronial feel. Food great and staff were very engaged and attentive. - Its remoteness and peaceful environ Children’s party with Bouncy Castle!
- Angela (10/5): Exceptional place to stay - Incredible special hotel in a beautiful location. Staff were outstanding and food and service memorable. Beautiful room with the most comfortable bed surrounded by tasteful decor and furnishings.
A really special place deserves five stars !We would love to come back and would highly recommend.
- Jp (9/5): Recommendable - Fantastic location, outstanding food and service The room was nice only the bathroom needs an update
- Shaun (10/5): Exceptional -
- Annabel (10/5): Exceptional - STUNNING inn with the sweetest staff and very delicious food.
- R (10/5): An incredible find - Stunning location, charming staff, amazing converted mill, superb food. Absolutely nothing
- Andre (10/5): Amazing - The historic charm
- Darren (10/5): Exceptional - Stunning location. Some of the best food we ate in Galicia. Friendly staff. Great accommodation.
- Keith (8/5): Very good -
- Tom (10/5): Amazing world class stay - What an amazing hotel with a world class restaurant experience. We were the only guests at the hotel during mid week in March. It is right on the river with rapids in front and great walking trails all along. It is registered as a historic site by the Galician province and recreates what a Galician village estate would have been like. We had an amazing dinner served by the chef. With a romantic fireplace in the common area and very comfortable beds and rooms. Google maps gave very poor directions and had us heading down a dirt road to no where before we turned around and asked at a local business where it was. It is very secluded which is its charm, but males fidning it a bit of a challenge.
- Christine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Leanne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kimberley (8/5): Fantastic authentic experience in Galicia - Very authentic accommodation. Fantastic area and nice restaurant. The food is very good. Room smelled a bit damp, because of the high humidity.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Robert (9/5): Most enjoyable stay in this historic property with exceptional food and very pleasant staff. - Breakfast, ordered the night before, was very good. The property was located close to the river Mino which with its large rocks was very spectacular and plenty of wild life.
- Antonio (10/5): Amazing place - Everything Behaviour of some of other guests. Noisy at late hours. Sound isolation on rooms it's not great
- Ken (8/5): A place to relax and enjoy good food - It is a beautiful, big house in the country, next two a river and a mill. The staff is extremely nice and the food and service excellent. The location is beautiful. Our room was very small and dark. Although you don't spend much time in the room it could had been a bit more comfortable
- Steve (9/5): Superb -
- Steve (9/5): beautiful hotel, pricey restaurant - It’s a spectacular property! It was a 30 euro cab ride from PuertoMarin!
- Barbara (9/5): Until next time. - Lovely location, perfect for a relaxing break. Nice walking trails from the hotel for an afternoon stroll. The food at the restaurant is amazing!! It was hard to figure out beforehand what time the restaurant is open.
- Phil (9/5): Superb - The location, the staff, and their perseverance in trying to understand what we are saying. Nothing
- Cookmesomekai (10/5): Exceptional - A boutique hotel in the middle of nowhere, located next to a river neighbouring an ancient water mill. The place seems like a great starting point for hikes, but it's also a fantastic place to just relax. There is a pool, a bar and a restaurant with a focus on local produce.
Rooms: Think of a building that appears to be from the 17th century, originally designed as a stately home and later converted into a hotel. The perfectly clean rooms don't have air condition, but despite having stayed there at the end of a heat wave, this was not a problem at all. Despite the atmosphere of a 17th century building, the rooms are fitted with all modern conveniences you would expect from a boutique hotel. Sound-proofing was not considered when the building was designed - which wasn't a problem for us but it might be worth knowing.
Restaurant: Quality of food was excellent, the service was great. If you have breakfast in the morning and you are asked to order what you want the night before: the croissants are huge. So are the pain au chocolat. Just keep it in mind ;-)
Staff is very friendly, communication would have been easier if our Spanish language skills were better, but not a problem at all. The teenage members of our group struggled a bit with the restaurant menu. Despite the high quality, the exclusive location is reflected in the prices
- Nicholas (10/5): Exceptional - Stunning location. Good food and drink. Shower not high quality.
- Leya (10/5): Exceptional -
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (9/5): An idyllic rural retreat - The hotel is a converted mill in a rural location, our room was clean and well appointed, the staff were welcoming, friendly and efficient. Breakfast was great, as was lunch and dinner with a variety of choices for all tastes. We arrived on a Sunday and were surprised by the number of cars and people, as well as the hotel there are a number of function rooms which were all in use. The following day the place was a peaceful rural retreat again. Easy walking routes from the hotel and a river location made this a great place to stay.
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lou (10/5): Espectacular! - everything! they need to work on the shower. In half their guess that smug pick up their cigarette butts.
- Al (10/5): having travelled extensively, this is one of the best places we have stayed anywhere in the world - location (riverside, remote), style (granite mansion), food (exceptional), staff (incredibly friendly), comfort (memory foam mattress), amenities (multiple lounge rooms, with open fire).
having travelled extensively, this is one of the best places we have stayed anywhere in the world. leaving
- Billie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kathryn (9/5): world-class location, historic property, fantastic refined Galician food - The location is absolutely spectacular, with wide river, dammed and huge boulders creating cascades, with an old mill and millrace and gorgeous woods, as scenic as one could ever hope. We ate dinner there. We were professional cheesemakers for many years, and think of ourselves as foodies - the food was divine. Our hostess was so kind and did so much to make our stay memorable. Breakfast was delicious, all we could want. There is a trail along the river that goes 30km to Lugo - would be wonderful to hike there from Lugo and cap it all with an excellent meal and good night's sleep.
- Jan (8/5): wonderful - staff & surroundings
- Maribel (10/5): Rustic chic experience in Lugo countryside - Peaceful location next to the river. Beautiful countryside. The best was the exquisite food at the hotel restaurant!
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional -
