• Peter (8/5): - Nice place away from the main tourist hub. Amazing view of the volcano. Lots of birds. Nice staff and rooms comfy and clean. Pool and jacuzzi are nice and look like they have recently been done up.

• Meghan (9/5): Excellent restaurant onsite and thoughtful staff and room care. - The restaurant was amazing. We ate dinner there all 3 nights it was that good. Yucca frita and pineapple Paradise chicken were our favorites. Staff was super kind. Amazing views and pool area. Extra blankets. Excellent water pressure. Coffee in the room. Being right above town was definitely charming, but also a little bit noisy with motos and dogs below. The view obstruction with the cell tower also a slight bummer, but overall the place is so beautiful, those things were easy to ignore. The one thing that can be improved that I will offer feedback on is that the pillows we had in our were lumpy, big and uncomfortable.

• Marius (8/5): - - Sehr sehr freundliches Personal - Der Blick auf den Arenal - sensationell, hätten wir so gut nicht erwartet - Super Restaurant direkt im Hotel, unbedingt nutzen, sehr gute Küche! - Kostenloses Parkplätze - sehr schöne Poolanlage (Inifity) mit Jacuzzi - Familiengeführte Hotel, man merkt den Einsatz und die echte Gastfreundschaft - Man fährt von La Fortuna mindestens 30min, das sollte man wissen. Ort eher klein und abgelegen - jedoch sehr schön und erholsam - Der Speisesaal könnte etwas heller und freundlicher gestaltet werden, wirkt leider wenig einladend (wenn auch die Küche super ist!!)

• Anna (9/5): Чудовий досвід - Розташування на горі чудове, вид на вулкан і гори був як з номера, так і з тераси ресторану. Багато різних птахів на території готелю, а також є невеликий трейл для прогулянки обабіч готелю. Ми зупинялись під час прохолодної погоди та періодичних дощів, тож провести час в басейні та теплому джакузі було справжнім релаксом, рушники видавались на рецепції. Скрізь чистота та привітний персонал. Сніданок смачний та ситний, ми також приходили на обід в ресторан і порції були величезними та все було дійсно смачно. Ми бронювали номер на двох і в номері виявилось два двохспальних ліжка, що саме по собі не є мінусом. Але, з огляду на мінливу погоду, сидіти на балконі було некомфортно, і я думаю, що краще було б замість одного ліжка облаштувати зону для відпочинку в кімнаті, наприклад з двома креслами та столиком для чаювання чи кавування. Також, кавоварка не дістає до розетки і заварювати каву можна тільки на підлозі.

• Maxime (8/5): Hôtel charmant avec une très belle vue, à proximité du volcan arenal. - La vue est magnifique à la piscine ainsi que depuis la chambre, juste l’antenne qui gâche un peu le paysage , mais j’imagine que sans celle-ci nous n’aurions pas de réseau … le personnel est très accueillant et serviable. La piscine est très appréciable notamment le jacuzzi. La cuisine du restaurant est très bonne. Proximité du volcan Arenal. La salle de restaurant n’est pas assez éclairé le soir, c’est très sombre et rend le lieu pas très accueillant et lugubre. Les chambres manque de décoration et la salle de main mériterait un rafraîchissement.

• Neal (9/5): So many birds to spot! - The gardens are lovely - we spotted so many birds here! - and the pool and jacuzzi were a lovely place to relax after exploring the Arenal National Park. Fab view from the pool, and from the restaurant. We only ate breakfast here, which was good, heading up the hill to a local restaurant (can't remember the name, think it began with a V). So good, we went back the second evening too).

• Maren (8/5): Schönes Hotel mit hervorragender Außenanlage - Wir hatten eine tolle Zeit im Chateau Arenal- die Zimmer sind einfach gehalten, aber vollkommen ausreichend. Vom Balkon konnten wir morgens viele Vögel und Eichhörnchen beobachten. Ein Highlight ist natürlich der Pool und insbesondere der Whirlpool! Super entspannend nach langen Wanderungen. Das Frühstück war sehr lecker und das Restaurant ist definitiv empfehlenswert! Das Personal war unfassbar freundlich und herzlich, noch einmal vielen Dank an Maria die für uns jederzeit ansprechbar war!

• Kubiseski (8/5): We loved our time there - it is not a 5 star room but you’re not there for that! There are so many cool things to do in - The restaurant was excellent, as was the pool and hot tub. The privacy from having a personal cabin was also great! The view (if it hadn’t been raining and cloudy around the volcano) would be amazing! It was a beautiful spot to be staying at, even with the rain. The people who manage the property are amazing - super friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable! Best advice they gave: Don’t let the rain stop your plans! Everything is just about as fun in the rain and you can’t do anything about it anyway! The only thing I will say is that the cabin didn’t have a chest/drawers to put our clothes away in and the absence of a mirror in the room, other than the little one above the sink was a little disappointing. Small things only, over all.

Maria thank you so much for being the best, helping us with all the tours and ensuring the best service. Breakfast was delicious too. Overall we just loved the fact of being immersed in nature and more secluded. Pool was a nice add on! Being more secluded means that you’re further away from the main town of La Fortuna (30min drive). Especially at night, not the best since the road is dark. However, you will be close to the volcano park entrance. Rooms were a bit outdated and the mattresses not the most comfortable.
• Sabrina (10/5): Top séjour 10/10 - C’était beau, propre, le personnel ultra sympathique, le jacuzzi et surtout la nourriture était excellente, le déjeuner inclus très bon et nous avons également souper chaque soir au restaurant de la place. Nourriture 10/10 et vraiment pas cher !!! Rien, j’ajouterais peut être un petit peu d’équipement dans les logements mais c’est tout l. Tout était parfait !
• SeanHill1107 (8/5): Lovely hotel for relaxation - The views were fantastic and great for bird watching. There was a wide variety of food for all meals and portion sizes were great. The staff were all very friendly and chatty. The welcome cocktail was a nice touch too. Pillows were terrible and the bed was uncomfortable and creaky. Woke up with a sore neck every morning. Also, when the guests staying above us used the bathroom in anyway, there was a loud gurgling noise coming through our drain. It is also a bit of a drive to the main tourist areas of La Fortuna.

• Brigitte (6/5): - My rather bad scoring, this is important to say, only counts for the room. The staff is amazing and they do their best an more to make you feel good. Thanks to Mr. Robert (Redford), Maria and the kitchen team, they deserve the full 10 points. The food from the restaurant is delicious, don't search elsewhere. The pool and the hottub are very nice, too. The room was more than outdated, no space for clothes, three forgotten hangers on a seedy curtain rod, squeaky beds with worn-out matrasses, a slat broke during the first night and we slept half on the ground. It was fixed next day (as I said before, staff is great), but still it was extremly uncomfortable. Luckily we did not need the airconditioning, we started it once, it made a horrible noise. The bathroom was rather run-down as well.

Notre logement était vétuste. Le parking plein de boue et de flaques d'eau. Pas de lampe de chevet. Salle de douche d'un autre siècle. Photos du site Booking.com trompeuses. Ne vous fiez pas au nom pompeux de " Chateau" Arenal. Le village de El Castillo est un trou sans intérêt. Il y a plein d'adresses au même prix et beaucoup mieux à La Fortuna. Nous déconseillons fortement cet endroit

Le personnel et les déjeuner. Le cocktail d’accueil est très apprécié! La vue est très belle 🤩 on voit le Arenal du lit Le matelas, et la salle de bain qui est TRÈS petite. La chambre que nous avons eu est un peu vieillot mais propre. Plus de crochet serait pratique.

• Donna (8/5): Our stay was nice, unfortunately my husband was ill, possibly the flu? We needed to be closer to a pharmacy and clinic. - Maria, the front end staff, was excellent. Explained things, understood our situation and always a smile. Roberto was a huge help. Views of the volcano and surrounding area was breathtaking. Food was exceptional, hours of the restaurant were perfect. Barking dog next door was non-stop all night and unacceptable. This property is beautiful but too far away from anything. The beds were very uncomfortable, very lumpy. Would have been nice to have a couple chairs in the room.

• Marielena (10/5): A hotel to feel at home! - Wow - thank you chateau arenal for a great stay! The hotel and the rooms were beautiful and clean, the food was delicious but what really stood out was the staff! All of them are SO kind and real great hosts. Unfortunately we didn‘t get the names of everyone but especially Robert and Danielle were so ambitious in helping us with everything. Thank you so so much!! We were a little bummed by the long drive to downtown La Fortuna, but one of the girls from the reception desk organized a really kind and safe driver for us!

• francesco (9/5): Accogliente e ottima vista! - Struttura accogliente. Avevamo una camera grande con terrazza privata e vista sul lago e vulcano. Abbiamo sfruttato una promozione speciale last minute e il rapporto qualità/prezzo diventa corretto. La struttura è accogliente e dotata anche di jacuzzi riscaldata, però a prezzo pieno risulta piuttosto caro.

• Matthias (9/5): Vulkanblick - Wir hatten ein wunderbar gr0ßes Panoramafester mit direktem Blick auf den Vulkan und See Arenal (wenn das Wetter etwas besser gewesen wäre, hätten wir auch beides öfter gesehen). Ansonsten war es eine sehr schöne Unterkunft. Die Mitarbeiter waren superfreundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Frühstück und auch das Abendessen war ebenfalls sehr gut. Wir können Chateau Arenal Hotel & Restaurante uneingeschränkt empfehlen.

• Vojtěch (10/5): Stay for three nights - Excellent choice! Overall, we are very happy that we chose this accommodation for our trip. The staff at the accommodation and in the restaurant are very friendly and helpful. There is also an infinity pool and hot tub on site. I have no negative comments.

• Itzel (5/5): Not motivated to return to this property. - The view, breakfast, the servers at the restaurant are amazing You’re told the pool and jacuzzi are always open, but it gets dark around 6pm and there are no lights around, so it’s impossible to use them. I had a change of flights, and the hotel would not work with me, I know it’s the policy and they don’t have to, but the other 2 hotels where able to accommodate us and move dates understanding it was out of our hands, so I had to pay nights I wouldn’t be able to use. After 9pm the office was closed and there’s no way of turning the jacuzzi, only staff can do it, so that was upsetting. WiFi was terrible.
• Bonnie (10/5): - Beautiful location and the staff was great. Particularly Maria, Luis, and Roberto made our stay memorable! Both Luis and Roberto were excellent when we came to eat or drink! Grounds were well maintained and the hot tub was nice and relaxing after a day of hiking!

• EMMA (10/5): Excellent séjour!! - Accueil plus que chaleureux!! La vue sur le volcan Arénal de notre lit, fabuleux! Personnel attentionné et très aidant pour chacune de nos demandes. La touche finale, notre dîner romantique préparé avec soins et des petites douceurs qui nous attendaient dans notre chambre. Mille mercis à Robert, Daniella et Maria!! Ne changez surtout pas. • Jean Marie (7/5): Relaxed and laid back - At the outskirts of the village. Unfortunately, motorcycles leave early in the morning making very loud noises. The place is very nice with a beautiful view of the lake and volcano. Service was excellent \Rooms are confortable and adequate but don't expect anything exceptional. Would come back again Very good restaurant. Close to nature

• Karen (9/5): Excelente ubicación y atención - La atención al cliente estuvo mas que excelente! Don Robert nos dio muchos consejos y recomendaciones de lugares donde ir. La ubicación es muy priviligiada y bonita, tienes vista del lago arenal y volcán arenal desde tu habitación, incluso del pequeño pueblo de El Castillo. No necesitas 4x4. El lugar tiene piscina, restaurante y un parqueo amplio. Los desayunos son muy buenos y típicos. También tienen un menú saludable con Yogurt, frutas y huevos. La habitación del edificio tiene mejores condiciones vs bungalow, recomiendo buscar las habitaciones del segundo piso para mejores vistas desde el balcón. Lo único malo es la habitación en el bungalow no era lo que esperaba, ya que la habitación tenía un olor particular, aunque la ropa de cama y toallas estaban limpias, parecía una habitación un poco vieja.

• Dalia (10/5): Exceptional - The staff was very friendly and attentive. The kids (ages 7 to 17) all enjoyed the pool and facilities. They had board games that the kids enjoyed in the evening. The staff even went above and beyond and assisted when my sister fractured a rib zip lining. The entire family had a great time, we wish we would have stayed longer!

Also better path lighting along walkway(solar)? In the units toward the driveway entrance Also a sign or 2 along the road a mile or 2 would help first timers especially driving in at night. Had a nice stay great employees and views and deck Better Parth lighting. More shelves in room / closet ? Drawers ? Nice location. Road signs a couple miles out with the hotel name with a arrow or language saying straight ahead or whatever.
• Kathie (5/5): Given the things it didn't have, it wasn't worth the prie. - Great games, some friendly staff, great views. The room we booked was not the room we received. we were two sisters and reserved two beds. we got a king. There was no compensation. The worst, though, was that in order to shut the bathroom door you had to be inside as it was too small to move. i'm not exaggerating. Also there was also no hot water one day, which happens, but we were not informed and had to ask what was happening. Even when it came back on the pool was cold and the hot tub at best lukewarm. I blame some of this on faulty advertising from Booking.com but also felt there was false advertising on the part of the hotel.

• Maheshwari (3/5): People are really nice but I wouldn't stay again at this place - The room had bugs inside. The lights were too dim, the furniture was beaten down,. We had booked one bungalow and one junior suite. We ended up all (familiy of 5) sleeping inside the junior suite as it was better than the bungalow arrangement but paid for two rooms that we did not use. There were no wardrobes as mentioned in the description, just a rod protruding from the wall with couple of hangers in all the rooms. The light outside the room was broken and out. It was very very dark. My kids were afraid , hence we decided to go to the junior suite which was better lit and a little bigger. The staff was good but we did not like the facility. It was away from the town. There were many bugs crawling into the room. No glass or mug in the room. The parking is on the grass and muddy area. It was raining when we arrived and the whole area was a puddle. Our luggage got messy and dirty in that puddle. The. Breakfast was a rip off. The only breakfast they serve with the hotel.accomodation is beans and rice and a juice. If you want anything else, you pay for it. We had to pay for our breakfast if so please bread butter and jam.

• George (10/5): Wonderful place, stunning location, incredible food, amazing staff! - Location was perfect for exploring the area, and gave amazing views over the volcano and mountains. The room was spacious with private outside areas and plenty of sockets. All the food massively exceeded expectations. The staff were very friendly and helpful, accommodating personal requests and helping organise activities and transport for us.
• Jenny (8/5): Beautiful view. Loved the birds. - The room was basic but clean and comfortable. These are small, self-contained cabins with a view of Mount Arenal. We drove to the site in a 4-wheel-drive hire car, which was needed for the steep roads in the area. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and we were able to have our laundry done. We especially loved all the birds we saw while staying here - more than we saw at any national park! The breakfast is okay but nothing to write home about. More interesting options are available but not included in the price of the room. The site isn't on the usual pick-up route for tours. The shower head needed fixing. It was more like a tap running than a shower.
