Guest Reviews
- Samuele (8/5): Very good -
- Markus (10/5): Exceptional - The accommodation was excellent, and we especially loved strolling down to False Creek—it was just a short 10–15 minute walk away.
- Harriett (8/5): Beautiful but underwhelming - It was a beautiful house, the staff were friendly and it's only a short walk to Granville St to catch a bus downtown, and a 20-30 minute walk to Granville Island. The room was clean. It was surprisingly quiet at night considering it faces a main road. Free, decent WiFi. Loads of wall sockets, just maybe not in the right places. I feel it was expensive for the room we got; no coffee machine or small fridge (which every hotel etc we stayed at this trip had).
The toilet room didn't have a sink in it, so you had to go across the space to wash your hands; it did look as though there was a sink in there once upon a time.
The pillows were really soft and the sofa was uncomfortable. I had to use a pillow from the sofa with a bed pillow on top to sleep on.
The TV is new, but not logged in or plugged into an aerial so you have to sign in with your own Samsung account to use YouTube etc.
Breakfast options were identical every day, and the breakfast room could be set up differently so it's not so crowded when it's busy. The one day we had the cooked breakfast, it was delicious; the veggie option was literally just none of the sausage/bacon etc, no extras.
There wasn't an obvious way to contact the staff if there were any issues etc, except at breakfast time which feels awkward.
- Rebecca (7/5): Good -
- Marilyn (7/5): Good -
- Graeme (7/5): Good place but staff not easily accessible - Breakfast was lovely and the house is really attractive. Parking was available at the back of the property. Bedroom was too warm and cramped. Could only really find staff to talk to at breakfast time and one had poor English and struggled to understand.
- Graeme (8/5): Good location for airport and ferry - Location is good with adequate parking. Quiet. Room was spacious. Breakfast was good. Room too hot, had to open windows. Key pad was a bit temperamental but did work. Lack of staff availability outside breakfast time.
- Bárbara (9/5): Superb -
- Lucy (6/5): Adequate - Location The pull out bed and cheap bedding
- Vanberkel (4/5): Disappointing - Breakfast was good. Whole grain bread would be better. Also earliest time was late. Single bed not appropriate for a couple. One of us slept on the small couch with no bedding.
- Eric (8/5): The staff made us feel very welcome. - The location was excellent for us visiting family. The staff was great. We liked the home feel and the funky decor. She: The breakfast could have had more variety and been more healthy (wholegrain bread, yogurt, granola, vegetarian option). The coffeemaker was awkward. He: I liked the breakfasts.
- Katarina (8/5): Very good - Staff was nice. Room and bathroom were clean. Breakfast was included and freshly made A room was quite small. Pull down bed mattress was too hard. Common room downstairs was always locked except for breakfast. Since rooms are small, they could have opened it so you can go there if you want to see your friends who stayed in other rooms. Basically there was no common area at all. No coffee anywhere, neither in the room or downstairs, only during breakfast. If you have to leave early in the morning before breakfast you can't have coffee.
- Katarina (8/5): Very good -
- Peter (8/5): Very good - Super location,Clean and friendly staff Room small and common area not available in the afternoon. Breakfast alternatives limited.
- Gregerson (8/5): Very good - Breakfast was not the best..Omlette was not fully cooked..raw jell eggs in centre...Family suite deck needs an outdoor table and chairs!
- Andrew (5/5): Rooms needed a kettle and cups/tea/coffee. Breakfast needed better quality bread and cereals. - The old style N/a
- Sophie (8/5): Calme - The calm of the place, and how the staff was so welcoming.
Very clean, too! They asked for dietry restrictions for the breakfast. I mentioned I did not eat any meat. They just omittedthw backn and did not replace with anything. Which made for a really sad plate.
- Nina (4/5): Never again - Breakfast was fine. Location was fine. When we got there they had given our room “family suite” to another couple. We only found this out as we were checking out the next morning and we got the info from another guest.
We arrive around 11pm and used the last 4 digits of our phone number to get into the B&B. Then we were to use that same code to get into our room. When I used the code on the “family suite door it would not open. Then someone in the room shouted “you have the wrong room”. We tried calling B&B number to get assistance. Since we could not get in touch with anyone we proceeded upstairs and started entering our code on other doors until it finally worked on a door. When we got in there we found that we had a twin bed and a trundle dropdown bed. (Not what we were expecting AT ALL)..also no extra blankets.
My husband is 85 years old and there was no way he could help me tote 2 - forty lb suitcases up the two flights of stairs.
I was so disappointed in this stay. The place is beautiful but if you are going to have trundle beds you certainly should specify that is what to expect!
Also if someone is booked in a specific room they should get that room! The least they could have done was notified us of what room we had been changed to.m, so that we wouldn’t have to disturb other guests that late at night.
- Aisling (10/5): Charming home - Beautiful old house, quirky. Cooked breakfast was really good, staff were lovely. Hosts were very responsive and the key pad entry was very convenient- no fears about mislaid keys. Location is good, though a bit of a distance to city center. Beautiful new bathroom. Toilet being in a separate room to bathroom- it's an old house so must make allowance, but having to leave WC room to wash hands was very weird for me! Bit pricey for B&B, though so is everywhere in Vancouver. Something to take note of- it is a beautiful house and owners try to retain as much of the original features as possible- including the stairs and steps leading to the front door- this means that it would not be suitable for guests with mobility issues.
- Diana (9/5): Vancouver B&B - The house is old but well maintained. Very cozy place. N/A
- Reneedove (9/5): Superb -
- Julia (10/5): Exceptional - The house is gorgeous and neat. Very clean. Breakfast was delicious. The staff was very friendly.
- Lisa (10/5): Lovely period property very comfortable stay would definitely stay again - Location was perfect. Walkable to all areas but also good transport links - lovely room and shower facilities and plenty to eat for breakfast Tea and coffee in room would have been good
- Stephen (9/5): Superb -
- Laura (9/5): Superb -
- Marta (8/5): Cozy place to stay in Vancouver - We loved the style of the house, the breakfast and the location which was in a calm, residential neighborhood. The windows in the building are quite old and hard to operate.
- Holly (10/5): Great location and comfortable. Good hosts! - Fantastic location. The house is historic and nicely decorated. There was a fridge in the room which was great. They also kept our baggage for us on the last day which was great. Breakfast was ok but you don't get a lot of options as there is a schedule they adhere to. The bed is either new or harder than you would normally find in a North American bed. Only one pillow per person which meant we had to use a decorative pillow to be comfortable. Please note that there is no air conditioning. We were on the 3rd floor and thankfully it wasn't extremely warm while we were there but I can only imagine what it will be like in the summer time!
- Winstan (7/5): Nice, but a bit more consideration and imagination would make experience much more pleasant - Clean, lovely old house Lack of amenities: no place to hang clothes, insufficient hangers for towels, no proper bath mat, no room thermostat, common “living room” area closed off most of the day, impersonality unimaginative breakfasts
- Jerard (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jane (6/5): Disappointing compared with website photos. Needs some updating. - I liked the fact it was unique.
The shower was lovely and big. The breakfast was very good and the ladies serving breakfast were very pleasant. I liked how quiet the building was even though there were several guests staying that night.
It was easy to get in and out with the key pad. The appearance would be much improved if the grass had been cut and the outside tidied up. The house looks a little scruffy ( steps included).
I booked a family room with a terrace. The “ terrace” had no seating or table on it, just a skateboard lying outside the door. In fact we couldn’t unlock the door to even access this tiny area. The room could do with painting. The decor was poor and the rug was old and tatty. The Murphy bed couch was old looking and the duvet thin with just one pillow . Such a pity as the bedding could have been luxurious.
The room itself was beyond small and way too tight when the Murphy bed was down.
- Robert (9/5): Superb -
- Melline (8/5): Very good - Bed and breakfast is located in a nice neighborhood. Room is large, but bathroom was on the small side in our room.
- Xin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Xin (9/5): Superb -
- Janet (10/5): Excellent. Recommended - Clean, comfortable, and a nice breakfast. Easy access with the lock codes.
- Allison (8/5): The owner was lovely, breakfast was fresh and delicious, and the location was perfect. - Great location, cool old house. The breakfast was fantastic, freshly made with cereal, mini pastries, bread, and fruit available. No heater in the bathroom. No coffee in the room.
- Ellen (9/5): Great location, beautiful house! - Great location, included breakfast great! Exit sign in the family suite was very bright when trying to sleep at night.
- Amanda (8/5): Very good -
- Carol (5/5): Passable - Breakfast. Free parking. Staff. Poor wifi.
- Dianne (9/5): Delightful surprize. - Breakfast was great AY was a wonderful host. She found an umbrella for me to use in the rain. Quiet even though there were children. Great location able to walk without worry in community. Loads of shopping and eating places located near by. The comforter on the bed was too small for the bed.
- Kenshien (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alex (10/5): Exceptional -
- Olympia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kemal (8/5): Very good -
- Michelle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Georgia (10/5): Great location and charming building. Nice little breakfast room and common area. - Great location, charming BnB Upstairs rooms are a bit small
- Cal (8/5): Very good -
- Street (9/5): Totally relaxing - Beautiful setting
- Justin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Margot (8/5): Very agreable. - It was a beautiful house with a nice atmosphere.
It was clean.
The staff was excellent. Very helpfull and serviceminded.
Nice breakfast. We were on the upper floor, so with heavy luggage quite a challenge.
One bed blocked the way to the bathroom at night.
The noise of the traffic with window open.
- Juanita (8/5): Great value for money and a great location - The breakfast was good and prepared individually which is a bonus The murphy bed was very comfortable but getting in and out was difficult on one side
- Keith (8/5): A - The house had bags of character and a very good location, lovely comfortable bed and one of the best bathrooms we have ever had. Off street parking. Freshly cooked bacon and eggs at breakfast. Could have offered more cereal choice, fruit juices, yoghurts and fruit options.
- Marianna (10/5): Lovely and relaxing stay - A gorgeous bed and breakfast, loved our room it was very comfy and great location . The breakfast was delicious and the cook really kind and lovely, it was easy to get into the place and easy to check in. I couldn’t get the internet to work
- Michael (10/5): Lovely, peaceful and beautiful place. - The room was beautiful. My whole family had a restful night and we really enjoyed everything that was provided. I would highly recommend it. Nothing, maybe the lack of a receptionist, but the messages through the app (booking) was good, not immediately, but fast enough.
- Angelica (10/5): Perfect location. Very clean and cozy. - We stayed at the top floor with street view and it’s just perfect. It was easy to locate and with parking space at the back. They will give you a code to the entrance and room so you don’t have to wait or meet a staff when you check in, so you can come anytime. The breakfast was excellent and the staff is friendly. Would recommend it for sure.
- Aleksandra (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cindy (9/5): Superb - Lovely home, great breakfast Not allot of sockets to charge phones etc
- Amanpreet (8/5): Very good -
- Bruce (7/5): Inexpensive b&b in good location with free parking - Good value and nice location. But you are required to remove shoes everywhere inside the b&b, including the breakfast room.
- Karina (6/5): A nice short stay. - My partner and I enjoyed the building itself, from the window panels, hardwood floors and lovely staircase. The room was also very tidy and welcoming with so much natural light. I was over the moon when they provided a food restriction option for the breakfast and complimentary parking at the back of the building. The location of the house was also a big perk very close to all the main touristy areas that Vancouver has to offer. I would give location another go, if I were to return. There was only few things that didn't make my stay five stars. Starting with the no shoes policy at the entry, this wouldn't have been a issue with there for complimentary slippers provided for us and when we tried to look for someone to ask we were unable to find anyone. Once we got to our room we somewhat believed we may find the slippers there but no. Also once nightfall came around and we were settling for the day, we noticed the bed only had one comforter and two semi flat pillows. We searched around for extra blankets or pillows to no avail. Since we were only staying for the night we decided to make due and we just raised the heater and turned in for the night.
The last thing was the lack drink selections for breakfast, the only two options seemed to be coffee or milk. I'm lactose intolerant and my partner and I don't quite enjoy coffee. I did ask the lovely staff if they had anything else and it seemed like cranberry juice was the only other option, we accepted.
- Attar (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lucy (9/5): Superb -
- Sravani (9/5): Superb -
- Mathieu (9/5): Superb -
- Dennis (8/5): A convenient and reasonable place to stay. - Needed a sheet on bed, a bath mat, extra pillows. Needed some paint on wall repair behind the door. Parking was good, enter and room codes worked great. Breakfast was excellent.
- Norman (6/5): Nice old house, polite friendly staff, disappointing details - Dislikes: lack of towels (only two thin bath towels and one hand towel/bath mat were provided) and the lack of tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Also, while the location was very good, being on a busy road meant that our room at the front was noisy, and a lack of adequate lighting for shaving spoiled the otherwise excellent bathroom.
Likes: nice old house, very polite friendly staff, nice cooked breakfast (but the breakfast room was very crowded which made it difficult to access the facilities for making coffee, toast, etc. while everyone was trying to do these things at the same time)
- Shane (8/5): Very good -
- Chelsea (10/5): Exceptional - will absolutely be back! - Breakfast was perfect and the property was wonderful, cozy and clean!
- Ayush (10/5): FANTASTIC historic, quaint house with hotel-level quality! We will be back! - Just TERRIFIC! It’s a quaint, historic house that’s located conveniently. A bunch of rooms make it feel a bit like you’re staying in a house without the problems that come from renting a room in a house (dirty rooms, lack of professionalism/amenities that come with hotel, etc.). This place perfectly balanced the historic house feeling with meeting the needs and desires of the modern traveler. Breakfast was good, too, served in a room downstairs. A+! Slight issues with the WiFi, otherwise, a fantastic stay!
- Susan (9/5): A comfortable stay in a modern suite in beautiful old home in Vancouver! - My suite was lovely, comfortable and cosy. The instructions before coming were very helpful. Breakfasts were tasty and the staff were friendly. I recommend it!
- Susan (5/5): Passable -
- Carl (5/5): It was only ok - The beds were good and bathroom was good and it was quiet Tripped over transition strip going into the bathroom as it was to high and with wall bed down you couldn’t access the fridge and the free slippers were no good we ended up leaving early
- Ben (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cherkasova (10/5): Absolutely recommend this to everyone! - The location is really nice. It’s close to beautiful beaches and downtown. Breakfast was delicious and overall everything was so comfortable -
- Jane (9/5): Superb - All very good. Would have been nice to have the frint lounge open outside of breakfast period and have coffee and tea available
- Yuliia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jashanpreet (9/5): Superb -
- Justin (10/5): Exceptional - Great stay, clean rooms. Great staff. Well worth the money
- Mcgowan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stella (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jimmy (10/5): Exceptional - Location to the hospital Needs to be modernised a little ,in my opinion only ,change the colour through out the premises
- Hanna (9/5): Absolutely gorgeous home and quiet rest - Coziness, quiet and welcoming The small crack between the door and the frame where light could come in at night. Honestly not a big deal though.
- Anne (8/5): Very good - The breakfast was great.
- Rahel (9/5): A very comfortable and convenient place to stay - Charming, in an older house. Clean, helpful amenities. Accommodating of my dietary requirements for the breakfast. A bit bright at night with translucent rolldown blinds rather than blackout blinds.
- Dikshita (8/5): Short but sweet! Thank you! - Cosy, easy to get to from YVR airport, fair breakfast served to order in the morning. We were served bacon omelettes but we don’t eat pork, however this was quickly rectified and the lady apologised. We should have been proactive and said we don’t eat pork. Too many stairs. We were given the top most room which meant around 5 flights of stairs to get to. We had to leave all our luggage downstairs as we had 3 x 25kg bags as we were only there for 1 night and there’s no elevator. There’s no designated safe storage space downstairs but we were fortunate that they allowed us to lock the luggage in the lounge area of the breakfast room overnight because there are people coming and going outside of that room. That meant that as soon as breakfast started at 8.30am, we had to patrol that area regularly to ensure our luggage were still there. There are cameras in the location nonetheless. We were in the LVS room - top most floor.
- Lavisha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kim (10/5): Lovely stay! We returned a second time - Our kids loved Hunter house, and we returned on our way back through Vancouver. The rooms are carefully designed to accommodate kids, with cute details like fluffy toys and themed kids bedrooms. The breakfast was a hit - they even accommodated our son's dairy allergy and prepared dairy free waffles and cream! Extremely thoughtful host Ai made it worth the return. The walk between the parking (behind the house) and the front door (up stairs) wasn't very well lit, a bit tricky to navigate at night/if traveling alone with kids.
- Konstantin (10/5): Exceptional - Location and price Cold floors with slippers
- Amir (8/5): Very good -
- Nicolas (7/5): Good -
- Geraldine (6/5): Adequate and convenient. - Nice breakfast, good location. I was freezing! I would like to have requested a blanket, but I had no way of contacting any staff that I knew of. Every communication had been handled by email, and my entrance was electronic. I didn’t see another human until breakfast.
- Meghan (9/5): We enjoyed our stay and will most defnitely rebook when we are back!! - Very charming and comfortable room!
- Danielle (9/5): Cute and quirky stay in Vancouver. - Excellent breakfast and great service, very calming atmosphere in the breakfast room. Spacious yet cosy bedroom, quirky decor.
- Doje (5/5): We were disappointed. - The location was perfect as we were going to the Stanley Theatre, a short walk away.
The response by online staff to any issues was extremely prompt. The cooked breakfast was barely edible!
The tight quarters in the suite forced us to sidle sideways to get around.
- Adrian (8/5): Cozy place near the center (coffee not great) - The location is perfectly situated, beautiful house, car spaces are available. The house is cozy, rooms a bit small but clean. Definitely the coffee is not good, tastes like not from this world. But otherwise breakfast is ok, maybe some more variety of marmelade would be great. I love to get breakfast early, so for me 8:30 was a bit late. Shower water was kind of warm but not hot.
- Ho (7/5): Beautiful place but need better facilities - The nice staff. The breakfast. The privacy. Brought a kettle for my stay No lift, no reception, no communication except by email No concern that i am an elderly lady and place me on the upper floor and I have to drag the luggage up 2-3 flights of stairs with no one around to help.
When trying to use a table, I tripped over and broke a hazardous c-shape sidetable not knowing the coffee table can be turned into a dining table( need 2 people to do that). I was asked to pay $168 in compensation. Fortunately I was not hurt but found the repayment to be unreasonable as the Hotel should not provide unsafe furniture and no staff to help resulting in the incident.
- Alex (10/5): Newly opened cozy, clean B&B - Nice place, very clean - which is the most important aspect for us. It's a building with some history and nicely renovated. Check-in and check-out are both self-service, which we preferred. Breakfast was great! An extra set of towels would be great.
- Kim (10/5): Our new go-to in Vancouver! Great for families - The property is much nicer than the photos. Lovely attention to detail. The check in was a bit confusing as we were traveling 2 days before and didn’t get the check in code. The team was very helpful.
- Amir (10/5): The best bed-and-breakfast in the city - It was conveniently located in the city with parking
- Donald (10/5): The stay was great the STAFF WAS TOP NOTCH AMAZING I just wish for an extra bed pillow and a top sheet on the bed both - We enjoyed the history and how well the house was preserved Nothing
