Guest Reviews

- Anonymous (9/5): Perfect place for fisherman and hikers. - Please consider that these comments are made by someone who travels around for fishing and is spending most of the time out on the water. But then Tarrafal is a remote destination where fishing and hiking are the only things to do. Casa Praia is very handy, cosy place with good accommodation and fully equipped kitchen where you can cook for yourself. Of course you can eat outside, but the choice is limited and you need to pre order. There is a small store 200m uphill with basic groceries. For some reason they don’t have tea or basic spices like pepper, so consider bringing these things with you. If you are coming for fishing, then Jorg who is a local host is your man. He can definitely point you in the right direction. Note that you are sharing the kitchen and the veranda with other guests. I had a hiking couple as house mates and we got together well. You can of course come with larger group of friends and rent the whole house. Hope this helps. No such thing.
- Marta (8/5): Wonderful location by the sea - Wonderful location by the sea. Stunning sunset. Carefully decorated and comfortable. Jorg is a nice and efficient host. Kitchen is shared and could be somewhat tidier and cleaner (having less utensils and food left by guests might help).
Sea was rough, which made it difficult for us to sleep with waves permanently raging.
- René (10/5): Perfect location right at the oceanfront…!! - Casa Praia has a perfect location right at the Atlantic Ocean. We had an attractive room, not large and minimally furnished, but everything we needed was there. All very clean and well maintained. The place has only two guest rooms and a wonderfully sheltered communal outdoor area (and kitchen) with sea views. We were lucky that we were the only guests and therefore had the casa to ourselves for the entire day.
Manager Jörg is super friendly and communicates quickly and efficiently. He knows a lot about Tarrafal and the surrounding area. You can also contact him to arrange transport (boat, taxi, etc.).
Breakfast was more than sufficient in quantity, although we would have appreciated a little more variety in fruit. And maybe something like yogurt with muesli and/or cornflakes...
That said, what do you expect in a place 'at the end of the world', so no complaints. We enjoyed our stay!
- David (10/5): Great location and views, comfortable stay. - Excellent location, small but clean and comfortable rooms, kitchen well equipped, the beds had firm mattresses which I prefer. Great views over the ocean from the terrace. In the center of town but still peaceful at night. Jörg is very knowledgeable about the area and great to chat with. We felt very much at home. nothing
- Deyan (8/5): House with character right on the beachfront. - This charming old stone house is indeed beachfront. The guesthouse is fairly clean. Since there are few/poor options for eating out in Tarrafal, a fully equipped kitchen is a huge bonus. Cooking with a German couple was indeed a nice experience. Jörg, the house keeper is super friendly and helped with just about anything. He arranged fresh fish from the fisherman. One should note that the guesthouse is located between the beach and only road going through the village, hence, it can be noisy at times. Moreover, one has to really like the sometimes rumbling sound of the Atlantic ocean waves hitting the shore, otherwise earplugs are a must. When I was leaving new mattresses were delivered, so this isn't an issue any more. Oh, and a spider here and there coming out from the old stone walls makes the overall African experience even more interesting.
- Eckardt (8/5): Very good - Awesome vernue directly at the sea front! Waves can be a bit loud in the night if it‘s stormy. If you only book one room you have to get lucky with your neighbours since you share the relaxing terrace + kitchen
