Guest Reviews
- Tamara (8/5): Schöner Aufenthalt in super Lage in den Hutongs - Der Innenhof und die Gastfreundschaft des Besitzers Etwas kleines Zimmer
- ivyankov (9/5): - Great location and lovely staff. The beds were comfortable and the courtyard is lovely.
- Anna-Clara (6/5): Cute and great location but very basic hotel - The hotel is cute and the location is great in the small winding alleys of a nice living hutong. The staff were nice. This is a very basic hotel, one step up from hostel. It is cute but very basic standard. The door to my room had a one centimeter gap so all noises from the nearby rooms and courtyard are loud. Also most sounds from the residents in the street starts early, but that can be charming too. The curtains does not keep light out, the internet connection is bad (maybe it is more to do with internet access…), there is no fridge in the room and no breakfast is served. Just be aware that it this is not your standard hotel.
- Nina (10/5): An Unexpected Gem in Beijing
Where Hospitality Meets Excellence - I had a wonderful stay at Rong Hotel in Beijing. The experience truly exceeded my expectations in every way. The hotel was comfortable, clean, and welcoming, and the staff were consistently kind, professional, and attentive. Every detail contributed to making my stay pleasant and relaxing. I was impressed by the overall quality of the service and the atmosphere of the hotel. I would gladly stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Beijing
- Robyn (10/5): We were welcomed and felt at home. - We arrived in China poorly prepared and received enormous help from our boat, who went out of his way to turn a potential disaster into a memorable few days. He was kind and tireless in helping us with our provlems Nothing - the room was comfortable, everything worked well.
No

- Julia (8/5): Overall, the Rong Hotel was an excellent choice for my solo trip to Beijing in March 2026. - The Rong Hotel is perfectly located for visitors who want to explore central Beijing. Located on a residential street, it is near many restaurants, shops, and historic sites. I enjoyed many daytime and evening strolls in the neighborhood. I would have appreciated more communication from the hotel proprietor about check in procedures. On arrival, I had to wait a while for somebody to answer the door. However, once the proprietor appeared, everything went smoothly.
- David (8/5): - Very friendly team Nothing for the money
- Damian (10/5): Great hutong courtyard hotel - The location is fantastic in the hutong area of ancient Beijing. It was a memorable experience staying in a courtyard Hotel like this. The facilities were very good the rooms were comfortable and clean. Come out of the hotel turn left (East) and you will reach a busy market street which is great to visit any time of day but particularly in the nighttime. It would be good to stay more than one night.
- Ryan (10/5): Great place to stay to experience real Beijing - Right in the middle of real Beijing! Very nice property and accommodating staff. Mattresses could be better.
- fernando (10/5): -
- Veronica (10/5): The cutest hotel - The cutest hotel for our layover on the way to Tokyo. We felt like we saw so much and had the Beijing experience even though we were there for just one evening thanks to this hotels location and accommodating staff and beautiful decor and courtyard. Thank you Rong Hotel!
- Tiago (10/5): -
- Phillip (8/5): - There was no breakfast?
- Martina (10/5): - L'atmosfera é stupenda, il contesto dell'hutong tranquillo e comodo, i proprietari molto disponibili!

Gute Ausstattung Alles in Ordnung

- Angelique (10/5): Perfectly located, clean and comfortable boutique hotel. - Centrally located near restaurants , coffee shops, bell and drum towers, waterways, bar scene, everything you would like to explore you can do it by foot.
The host/owner/reception was very helpful with making recommendations (through a translation app) and guided when things wouldn’t be open (surprisingly coffee shops didn’t open often until 10:30 or 11!).
The rooms had a fresh clean smell (not musty/damp like some other places we stayed while away), linen was crisp and new looking, room control of temp was perfect - aircon, heater and openable window, for whatever was needed at each time of day).
This is a boutique hotel with a courtyard and space to do your laundry if needed. Very peaceful at night - very glad we stayed here it was a much needed contrast from our 2 nights in the shopping centre district on the other side of town. Nothing not to like.
- André (9/5): -
- Larissa (9/5): Schönes kleines Hotel mitten in den Hutongs - Tolle Lage, nett und authentisch Kleine Zimmer, kein Angebot an Speisen Getränke im Hotel
- Celine (8/5): Amazing location in the hutongs - The hotel situation is perfect, in the midst of Beijing Hutongs and very close to city centre. The host is helpful, trying his best to give the right answers. The courtyard is cute, but we couldn't enjoy it fully, as the weather was cold. The bedroom is a bit small, but quite nicely furnished. Shower water is hot. No breakfast available (but in the end we found some small coffee places close-by). We were missing a cosy warm place to chill. The courtyard being nice, but not adapted to cold temperatures.
- Shannon Duffy (8/5): Cute room in a great location - The location in the Hutong area was great and the smaller hotel size was nice. You can really get a feel for the old character of the city and there are many good restaurants and bars nearby. The hotel courtyard was nice and sunny. The bathroom was clean and accommodating. There were outlets available bedside too. Part of the courtyard was occupied with clothes drying racks which while convenient for whomever was using them made it less attractive overall. The hotel staff was only on site or at least available some of the time.
- Tiago (6/5): Ok for traditional neighbours - The hotel is within a traditional neighbourhood near some attractions and close to streets full of food and shopping. The staff was correct, and the inner courtyard was beautiful. Our room was on the ground floor near the entrance. Our window was facing the street at the view level so you can see everybody and everybody can see you. It is noise as you are sleeping very close the street which means you always have your windows closed. The heater / AC worked well but it was very noisy so made sleep hard. They didn’t refill the water bottles after cleaning.
- Martin (7/5): - The hotel is located in a fantastic spot right in the middle of Beijing’s hutongs — perfect for exploring the city’s traditional atmosphere and local life. The area is full of charm and culture, and it’s easy to reach many attractions from here. The hotel itself is quite basic. The facilities are very simple, and anyone expecting comfort or modern amenities might be disappointed. It’s fine if you just need a place to sleep, but don’t expect much beyond that.

- Amandine (10/5): Absolument parfait ! - Emplacement exceptionnel!
- Claire (8/5): -
- David (9/5): Friendly staff and nice Hutong vibes:) - it was easy to get to and move around, nice Hutong vibes:) very good location lots of restaurants nearby:)
- Lupton (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alberto (10/5): Amazing location and incredible host - The Hotel is in an amazing location, in the middle of one of the best hutong. We really enjoyed our stay and the hostel was super nice and help us with our needs and questions. We felt like home :)
- Wasilewski (9/5): Cool hutong style hotel, you can borrow traditional Chinese clothes for photos - Very nice and helpful staff! Location in the old town endless noises from renovation, drilling, demolition in the morning
- Pinnaangelica (8/5): Very good - Very nice courtyard. The rooms are also nicely furnished and spacious and the bed was quite comfortable. The location is also nice, in the characteristic hutongs but not so close to the subway (about 15 min by foot).
- Ahmad (6/5): Great location with easy access, but the room design lacked privacy and practicality. - The hotel is in a great location with plenty to see and do nearby. It’s easy to get around with taxis and public transport, making it very convenient for exploring the city. A great choice for anyone visiting Beijing location-wise! The room layout wasn’t ideal — the toilet is in the middle of the room with a big gap on top, offering little privacy, especially in a two-bedroom setup. It can get smelly, and the doors open too easily. There were no cabinets for storage, and the stairs to the upper floor felt a bit inconvenient. A few design tweaks could really improve the experience.
- Griselda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rachel (8/5): Perfect Hutong Location. - Excellent location in the Hutongs 10 -15 minute walk from nearest metro. Rooms were quite comfy. We had 3 teenagers with us and they shared one of the rooms with two beds in it. They liked it. Not really anything to dislike- it’s not 5* luxury but that’s not what we wanted - we were delighted by the location. The front desk guy speaks no English but will try his best to communicate by translating in We Chat. No breakfast on site but you could head to some of the streets near the bell and drum tower with options for food. Wi-Fi sketchy and didn’t really work - however we were on our own data plans so it didn’t matter.
- David (10/5): Great service in an authentic Chinese hotel in a great location. - The receptionist was extremely helpful and although we did not share each other’s language, we communicated via Google translate. He also recommended the app we needed to pay for shopping. Very helpful The location is superb. Just step outside the hotel turn left and you’ll end up in a great location. No, we didn’t find anything that we did not like.
- Hans (8/5): Good value for money. - Very nice comfortable place to stay in an excellent location for tourists to stay.
- Shin (5/5): Passable - nothing almost everything
- Marion (9/5): Gorgeous traditional house hotel ! - The hotel is absolutely gorgeous which is why I chose it and it did not disappoint ! Well located, walking distance to Dongcheng Main Street with loads of restaurants and shops.. 20min taxi to forbidden city, 25min walk to Lama temple
Comfy room and beds, free water in the room, cute dim sum restaurant 2min walk (highly recommend!)
The receptionist helped me carry my heavy suitcase to the first floor which I appreciated a lot We had to bang the door a few times before someone actually opened when we arrived for checkin at 1am... which was quite stressful !!
Lighting is not so pleasant in the rooms on 1st floor..
No breakfast facilities/options
- Patsy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chiara (8/5): Very good - Nice location, nice rooms. Maybe more suitable for families than a group if friends, but still recommended
- David (10/5): Great location and helpful staff. -

- Filipe (10/5): A feel of China - Clean, comfortable, in a quiet, yet central neighborhood, really nice restaurant/brunch place really close by and a few other restaurants to choose from. You get a feel of China. Friendly staff, welcoming and available. Nothing
- Slein (10/5): Great value and brilliant location -
- Bernard (8/5): the man at the frontdesk (forgot his name)very helpful and vriendly!! - there is a unpleasant smell perhaps coming from drainage system??

- Gabor (9/5): Superb - Superb location and very helpful stuff
- Ying (8/5): Wonderful experience in a beautiful hotel - It was beautiful. Love how they set up the place. The staff is very nice and courteous. There are quite a few very nice and interesting restaurants, bars, coffee shops and stores in walking distance. It is inside narrow alleys and taxis sometimes refuse to go in.
- Cao (7/5): Good -
- Pham (8/5): Very good - Position, nice hotel and the boss of hotel is very kindly
- Vitalii (8/5): Very good - Old Beijing classic, for 1 night is really nice
- Tian (6/5): Dissappointing stay - Good location close to the Drum House. - Dirty bathroom with lots of hairs, stain and schimmels...
- Smaller room size(>5m2) than claimed size at Booking.com.
The owner of the hotel admitted the issues and upgraded my booking to a larger room. However, the bathroom was still full of stains and had schimmel on the tiles...
- Dishonest owner of house who is trying to claim that I haven't stayed there, which is not true.
- Thi (10/5): Exceptional - It's a cozy and hearty place with nice decorations and pleasant rooms. The staff was helpful, he didn't speak English but we could manage just fine using Google Translation. Definitely gonna recommend this to my fellow travellers!!
- Birgit (10/5): We like the convinient area to explore the downtown area also many testaurant and coffee shops near by - Nice small hutong hotel. Close to bell &drum tower, houhai area. Subway not to far away. Free filter coffee and tea If you sensitive to cigarette smoke, they are some guest who smoke out in the court yard and you can hear talking noises from other guests in the courtyard. Not really disturbing just for your info
- Laurent (8/5): Very good -
- Lea (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely host, beautiful location Area is a bit touristic
- Maria (5/5): Passable - Its location The walls are thin, impossible to sleep calm, the personnel speaks only Chinese
- Ramon (7/5): Good -
- Yijian (8/5): Very good -
- Jo (9/5): Unique and lovely staff in the wonderful Hutong. - Really cool and central location near the main Hutong. Beautiful boutique hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. The bed wasn’t the most comfortable.
- Ian (7/5): Good -
- Handldk (9/5): Superb - The location of the hotel is close to some major tourist places. The rooms are clean and well set. It gives a feeling of old Beijing style. The "Hutong" is a bit long to get to the entry. Not easy for a taxi to go through.
- Benjamin (9/5): Superb - Nice boutique hotel. Very quiet (cannot hear the traffic).
Nice decoration.
Close from shops and restaurants.
The Manager is friendly. There is no facility or breakfast.
The Manager does not speak English.
Difficult to use the TV which is in Chinese.
- Simon (10/5): If you want to experience real old Beijing, stay here, don’t stay in a big hotel. Rooms are nice, clean, overlooking a b - Excellent location, lots of character, right in old Beijing’s hutongs. Able to experience the real Beijing atmosphere.
