- Adeline (3/5): Disappointing overall. - This was a disappointing experience from the beginning.
First, the building and branding name were different from the listing, which was confusing. Second, the corridor right outside my assigned room had flickering lights, creating an unpleasant atmosphere. Upon arrival, I was given bedding in a box to put on myself, and I found out there was no air conditioning—both of which I admit I overlooked in the listing. However, these combined with the initial confusion made for a very poor first impression.
Before arriving, I reached out to ask on whatsapp if towels were available, but never received a response, despite being frequently reminded to complete the pre-arrival forms by this whatsapp number several days before arrival. Towels were not available.
On the day before and day of arrival, all communication from the property suddenly stopped. I contacted the receptionist, who stated he wasn’t the property owner but informed me that an agent was involved. This was on a Saturday when I arrived so I waited until Monday to reach out again, assuming it might be due to the weekend for the lack of response. I did not stay at the accomodation.
However, communication remained slow and unhelpful up to weeks after. Despite trying to negotiate a compromise to pay half of the stay, responses were slow and ultimately stopped. Booking.com also refused to offer any refund and stated I need to contact the property owner myself which I am unable to.
While I acknowledge my oversight on the lack of air conditioning and bedding to be managed on my own, this has been my first experience on Booking.com where the property owner was completely unaccommodating. I’m leaving this review to share my experience, as it was far from what I expected and overall very unpleasant.
