Guest Reviews
- Jason (9/5): Fantastic stay in a great neighborhood for a good price. - Ok, so Karen and Raquel are phenomenal. Very accommodating, helpful, and kind. Loved working with them. The security staff at the building were great too. Really enjoyed them.
There were a couple differences from what we are used to in the USA. The first is they collect payment directly from you upon your arrival. Booking dot com doesn’t collect it like they do for properties in the States. Not a big deal though. You can pay them in cash or credit card in full upon check-in. If you don’t speak Spanish (my Spanish is incredibly basic), no big deal, we made it work through Google Translate.
When you arrive at the building, Karen meets you there. You register with security at the front desk, then head upstairs. Your host sends you a pin for a key lockbox and you use it to get the key to the apartment door. Super simple.
The views were great. If you opened the balcony doors and windows in the primary bathroom and secondary bedroom, you got a very nice breeze through the apartment. If it hadn’t been for the street noise below, we would’ve eschewed air conditioning and slept with everything open.
The neighborhood is great. It seems more local than Bocagrande. A market is close by (Tienda Ara) and a larger supermarket (Mega Tienda) is about a mile walk, near Old Town. We ate at three nearby restaurants (Magico Atardecer, Legme, and Pollos Marbella). All three were delicious and affordable. There are also two droguerías and a pharmacy nearby. Stopped at Divino Tinto for coffee one morning and it was good. USD$0.75 for a cup.
The beach is just across the street. Vendors come by often but they usually weren’t pushy. You could rent an umbrella spot if you wanted but you didn’t have to if you wanted to just throw a blanket down on the non-rental area. We usually stuck to the pool deck. The hot tub was usually, but not always, warm. The pool was pretty cold, but that felt great given the heat. All in all, this was a great stay. Loved it and would 100% stay there again. I hate to offer complaints because of what a great experience we had but there are a few things I noticed. The breaker for the air conditioning in the secondary bedroom flips a lot. You just have to reset it. Usually once every night when you start the A/C. There weren’t any blankets when we arrived, but housekeeping happily provided some when we asked. Housekeeping came by to change the sheets, take out trash, and tidy up but they didn’t do what we in the States would usually expect from housekeeping. Like the bathrooms weren’t cleaned and toilet paper restocked. (We just bought some at the market.) It wasn’t bad. Just different from our usual experiences. Wouldn’t even call it a complaint. The only thing to be careful of is the stove burner can be accidentally left on easily so if you cook, make sure it’s all the way off. And if squeaks bother you, bring a can of WD-40 for door hinges.
