Guest Reviews
- Evelyn (10/5): Glad we chose this place - Beautiful location - cliff backdrop, creek, platypus, cottage garden, quaint cottage.
- Lei (10/5): Thanks for hosting our great family holiday - We love it. Super cozy, clean and quiet in nature, so relaxing to stay! Walking into the place feels well looked after. As bonus, we spotted platypus from the creek behind. Nothing much.
- xi (10/5): -
- Roger (10/5): Very happy. - The cottage was delightful, it was easy to get public transport into the CBD.
The bus fare was $1.20.
We were able to walk to town easily.
We went platypus spotting frequently which was amazing.
Overall a great experience. Nothing.
- Ralph (10/5): We couldn't have been more comfortable or well situated. - Garden was glorious. Secluded, quite, comfortable and welcoming. Nil.
- Lee (9/5): - Loved the location. It was great having under floor heating. It is a lovely cottage.
- Danielle (2/5): Wouldn’t recommend this place - Under floor heating was good House wasn’t clean when we arrived, hair from previous guest still in shower/bathroom floor.
The backyard was covered in bird poo so couldn’t access unless wanted our shoes to be coated. Didn’t see a platypus
- Natasha (10/5): Exceptional - We loved how homely it was, super easy with communication and had everything we needed! Highly recommend
- Holland (10/5): Exceptional - The cottage was charming, absolutely spotlessly clean 👌. Everything you needed in the cupboards. Did have trouble finding it, one way street very confusing 😕. The garden did need a bit of work, looked every day sometimes twice but didn't see any platypus, maybe wrong times.
- Debra (9/5): Superb - We found Platypus Cottage to be a comfortable, tranquil place to stay and it had all amenities supplied. Lovely quiet location with small garden to enjoy overlooking stream. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. The back door sticking when opening.
- Kristy (7/5): Good -
- Sara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jean (9/5): Superb - The cottage was very comfortable and had all amenities supplied. Great location, and yes we did see the Platypus.
- Megan (10/5): Perfect location and lived up to it's name! - This was a beautiful home in a beautiful location - and just as advertised we saw a beautiful platypus playing in the rivulet behind the house from the back garden both nights we stayed! I would absolutely stay here again!
- Marie (5/5): Poor - We were told that they haven't got the confirmation , only just now
It was hard to get intuch with someone about the keys and where they kept it...
Finally we spoke to someone he instructed us where to find the keys ,he gave us the wrong code he wasn't sure
Then he gave us another...luckily people from the Next door came out with torchlight to help us out...
We did clean all the cobwebs inside , beds were very uncomfortable, the garden untidy and overgrown etc...
Definitely wasn't a good value for the money
- T (9/5): Superb - Lovely inside and well equipped. Clean and tidy. Can only park 1 car. No other parking near by.
- Rachel (8/5): Lovely stay cottage was very well equipped for a comfortable break. - Lovely location overlooking stream. Quiet area with garden to enjoy. Only 2 garden chairs . As we were a family of 4 adults extra chairs would have been good.
- Natalle (10/5): Excellent - Everything :) The back door sticking when opening.
- Chris (10/5): Family fun - The place was clean and concenient, and We were lucky enough to see platypus. The main bedroom bed was tilted backwards, so it was a bit uncomfortable. Besides that everything was good.
- Tams (10/5): Cute little cottage with platypus in yhe backyard - Great location, such a cute little place, equipped with everything you need. The underfloor hearing was amazing as were all the flowers in the garden. And yes there is platypus in the creek directly behind the cottage, which we saw on the first day there. The complex the cottage is in is tight for space and cars are parked everywhere.
- Sue (9/5): Superb -
- Helena (10/5): Exceptional - We were staying in Hobart as my husband was in hospital there. The cottage was only minutes from the hospital, and I could not have wished for a better place to unwind in the tranquil setting each evening.
I even saw platypus in the rivulet each morning whilst having my breakfast at the bottom of the garden. This always gave me a good start to each day.
Thank you, Dave, for your assistance and understanding of our situation with the hospital and my husband's release dates.
I hope to return and next time for a holiday. There was nothing that I did not like in this beautiful place.
- Mur (10/5): Exceptional - Fabulous 2brm, felt cosy , warm and spacious. Walking distance to town, and up to Fem Factory, Brewery.
- Parkinson (10/5): A great time and a very comfortable stay. - Had an amazing time at Platypus Cottage. The location was perfect offering a cozy retreat right by the rivulet where I even saw a few platypuses from the back fence. We explored the Cascade Brewery and the Women's Prison, both a short walk away. Loved being able to walk everywhere - a short walk to town and Salamanca Place and the waterfront. The cottage was warm and inviting with comfortable beds and superb underfloor heating throughout. We are looking forward to our next visit!
- Damien (9/5): Superb -
- Russell (7/5): Nice little house, walking distance to Cascades and good kitchen - Good location, reasonable price, good kitchen Inadequate heating, was bitterly cold inside due to under floor heating which hardly ever switched on. Owners dropped over some extra heaters but power kept tripping out so could only use half of them.
- Michele (10/5): Great location, well equipped and maintained property. - Well equipped. Lovely quiet area. Heating and lighting turned on for our arrival. Owner very responsive to messages. Very easy drive to attractions. Tastefully decorated. We were even lucky enough to see a platypus. Though bedding is a very personal choice, we found the master bed too firm for our liking and the lovely soft pillows too flat. The bed frame creaked quite loudly on movement but may not be a problem for smaller, younger people.
- Melissa (9/5): Superb - Great spot, helpful and responsive host It's such a lovely spot where if you are lucky, you can see platypus. Although we weren't lucky this trip.
- Pam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daniel (8/5): Very good -
- Sally (8/5): It was fantastic that a couple of platypus decided to pop up. Mob of wallabies also a hit - Instructions for heater not visible - in drawer.
Under floor heating patchy
- Stephen (8/5): Very good -
- Joanne (8/5): Very good - Lovely location, even saw a platypus
- Rafee (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephanie (9/5): Superb -
- Ling (9/5): Superb - The kitchen is very nice , we can use cookware so convenient
- Matthew (9/5): Superb -
- Bee (9/5): Highly recommend - The house was beautiful , great location Main bed was awfully hard
- Geoffrey (9/5): Peaceful. - Quiet location on the outskirts of the city. Everything was fine. Highly recommend.
- Alison (9/5): Clean, comfortable and accessible to all amenities. Bonus of seeing a platypus! - Location was brilliant. Self contained so no breakfast included. Very clean and comfortable. Lawn needed a mow bit otherwise perfect.
