Guest Reviews
- Debra G (10/5): - The house is great. Clean, comfortable and spacious. The host were kind enough to leave us fruit, little cupcakes, cookies, milk, coffee and tea! The host needs to include directions to how to access the house from the road. If you continue up the road you will find a ramp which allow you to get to the street the house is on.

- Judith (10/5): Great place for big groups - Had space and the needed necessities. It’s located a little bit further away from the Camino, and being tired, the extra steps count, but it was convenient since we were 8 in our group. Bathrooms were good. We had a great stay and the property owner was easy to reach Located a little bit further away from the Camino and had some trouble finding it, but we were able to communicate with the owner and receive guidance
- Paula (9/5): Superb -
- Michelle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Manuel (10/5): Excelent for big groups of pilgrims - The detail of leaving breakfast for all was really nice. We were on our way to Santiago and it was a lovely rest.
- Selena (7/5): Good place to stay if you can’t find something on the other side of the street - The property was clean. If you are walking you have to cross a busy road at an almost blind curve and go down a steep staircase. This made it unappealing to walk back and forth into the town for pilgrims mass and dinner.
Also dog barking all nite and paper thin walls could hear neighbors talking until almost midnight.
- Cesar (8/5): Very good -
- Joseph (10/5): Very nice stay . Lovely house - Very nice relaxing room. Very friendly host check in lady. Thanks for the complimentary kitchen items tea , fruit , cakes and biscuits .
- Gill (9/5): Superb -
- Kathleen (10/5): Exceptional - The kitchen had everything we needed. There fridge was stocked and there was plenty of fruit and sweet things for breakfast. There were a lot of barking dogs nearby
- Anthony (7/5): Did not sleep well dogs next door barking all night long -
- Renee (8/5): It was a great place to stay. Had everything we needed but very noisy and we did not get much sleep - It was very clean and owner was extremely nice. She also provided food for breakfast. Very kind The walls were super thin. We could hear adjoining neighbors conversations. And there were dogs barking and howling throughout the night
- Rosslyn (10/5): Exceptional - Place was modern and immaculate
Fresh fruit and snacks
Water and drinks readily available
Full use of the kitchen and living room
Great value for money Nothing
- Peter (5/5): Passable -
- Whelan (9/5): It was a wonderful stay in a wonderful town on a wonderful Camino! Highly recommend! - Sleeping Portomarin 2 was very comfortable, and a great place to rest on the Camino. It is very close to the Camino path, so not too much extra walking. Additionally, the hostess had included snacks, waters, coffee, and other goodies. It also has a washer and lines outside to dry. It even has a massage chair, which is great for a weary Pilgrim!!! Portomarin was also one of the prettiest stops on the Camino, so it was wonderful to stay in that town. Check-in time was only 1 hour -- from 13:00-14:00. However, we reached the hostess, and she was very welcoming and let us in -- and she lived in the house next door!
- Joan (7/5): Good - The room was clean. Four rooms shared two baths. There was a kitchen with coffee and basic breakfast i
Foods, which was very nice. The house was new and clean. There were mosquitoes and flies in the house. No a/c so hard to avoid them once it’s warm.
- Mark (9/5): Superb -
- Higgins (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ada (10/5): Exceptional - A lot of complementary snacks and drinks
- Julioutes (8/5): Very good -
- Angela (10/5): Really comfortable nights sleep - Extremely well equipped, immaculately clean. Warm friendly welcome
The gratis food items and drinks were much appreciated saving us a walk into town after quite a hard days walking on the Camino Nothing
- David (9/5): Excellent - Excellent. Very nice hosts, nice room & great facilities
. Would definitely stay again.
- Tina (8/5): Very good -
- Susan (6/5): Pleasant - It was spotlessly clean. There was plenty of space should you need it and it was quiet. Surprisingly, I had my best night's sleep there. I had expected a hotel, it is a large house more suited to groups or families, in my view. It took me a while to get into the property as the receptionist was not on hand. After a 14 mile walk and a day of solid rain I expected to be offered a means of drying my clothes. There was nothing wrong with the property but this particular accommodation did not really suit me.
Breakfast was serve yourself, lots of tostadas, lots of oranges and orange juice, tea bags, milk, small cakes and very little butter. It was a mile away from the Camino.
- Amelia (8/5): Very good - Very clean, loads of space, very generously provided free food! It's a bit out of the way, and it's not their fault but there were dogs next door who barked a lot in the night.
- Soraya (8/5): Fine - Clean and comfortable bed Good for the provision for a nice breakfast and snacks Plan to call ahead arrival because doesn’t have a front desk or any information about what to do ahead of time
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Marta (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kieran (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ann (10/5): Exceptional - All the little extras. Great communication. Decor was pretty and attention to detail exceptional Nothing
- Regina (8/5): Very good -
- Valerie (8/5): Beautiful stay, use Google translate at check in! - Beautiful and clean. Not good for non Spanish speakers. I told the lady when I checked in, no Español. She proceeded to give me lengthy instructions on the washing machine in Spanish. I was too tired to get google translate up on my phone. Then, when I adjusted the dial, it didn’t wring out my clothes. I asked her for help, and got a huge lecture, this time on Google translate about how she told me not to adjust the dial. But otherwise a super stay!
- Juanita (7/5): Good stay, vey nice host. - we eat at a separated Cafe Bar the location was a bit farther from downtown
- Fiona (9/5): Superb -
- Kelly (8/5): I would be happy to come back. - The staff were really nice when checking in. It was a short wait once I Whatsapped the number on the front door of the main location. The bedroom and shared bathroom were both really clean. The shared kitchen was clean and stocked with simple items like tea, salt, oil and they had fruit for us to take in the morning. They had a washing machine if needed. They also had a mechanical foot massager, I didn't try it but it's a nice to have. I would recommend this lodging. It was not a problem but should be known that it is a small walk to "town" about 5-10 minutes. You are just on the edge of town and if you are on the Camino and want to stay right in the middle of town or be right on the trail it's good to know. Again not a problem for me but there will be a 10-15 min walk to get to the start of the camino the next day. There were also multiple dogs barking all night long that lived next door, right outside my window. Now this is not the owners issue at all and they may not have known would happen but it was enough of an issue for me to use earplugs and music on loud to drown out the dogs to fall and stay asleep. I don't usually have any issues sleeping.
- Jansen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jaimeson (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ngozi (8/5): Very good -
- Teresa (10/5): Amazing - Spotless facilities and rooms
Hosts very friendly and kind
Great location
- Guek (10/5): Highly recommend - A very generous owner that care for the guests. She allowed us to turn on the heater immediately when we arrived at 3pm . We can eat all the food and beverages she prepared for her guests , tea , chocolate drink, orange juices , mineral water , fruits , bread and snacks ❤️ Nothing
- Bowater (9/5): Amazing, too Camino accomodation at reasonable price - So lovely, very clean, comfortable and so generous with the thoughtful extra touches provided. Fruit, bread, biscuits, cakes etc. also a foot massager machine.
Warm and cosy on a cold wet day. Very well set up.
Very impressed. One of the best on the Camino Just a little out of the main town centre but overall wonderful
- Enriquevilla (10/5): Exceptional - Excelente atención e impecables instalaciones. Maravilloso. Todo estuvo de maravilla
- H (8/5): Very good -
- Jeff (8/5): Generous hostess - Easy check in. Nice facility. Room very pleasant. Upside was all the food and beverages the hostess makes available. Breakfast is DIY, but not a problem. Ok to take apples, oranges, etc for the road. Finding the property was a little funky. It is a touch out of the town center in a new development. But, once there, no problems.
- Garfield (5/5): Not very good - Very basic rooms in a house with communal bathroom. Location at end of a long steep hill then into a housing development - not very good location after a 25km Camino day. Town's facilities good but require another uphill walk.
- Geertje (9/5): Superb - Super clean, quiet, comfortable. Great place to relax. Really appreciated the free water and snacks. Nothing!
- Andrew (6/5): Clean and adequate but lacking in character. A bit hard to find and get settled. - The accommodation was clean and adequate. We appreciated the common area that include a fridge as well as complementry water, orange juice, tea/coffee and snacks. The venue was about a 5 minute walk from town. Our first impression of the venue was not good. It is in a building site on the edge of town with circuitous path to get to the lodging - not a great welcome after walking 17 miles. Also, we had to call the hostess since no one responded to the door bell. Once we got settled, it was ok. The hostal was functional but lacked character.
- Tamas1491625 (10/5): My first El Camino in Portomarin - Tidy environment, free fruits and some snacks, superfast wifi and of course a kind owner.
- Jodi (5/5): Clean stay and friendly host but too far from Camino and too noisy during the night. - It was clean and nice kitchen w/water and tea/coffee supplies. Hostess was friendly. Location is biggest negative. It’s well off the Camino and there is no signage along the road where the sidewalk goes down to the street level. It’s difficult to access by foot in any case. All that’s needed is some sort of sign directing foot traffic or better explanation before arrival. The beds were creaky and mattresses not very comfortable. The walls are thin so we heard every voice, each door closing and walking around. It was warm so we had to leave our window open for air but then two large dogs next door barked incessantly several times during the night. We would have closed the metal blinds but would have needed a fan or something for air movement. Suggest putting a fan in the rooms.
- Sofja (8/5): Comfortable stay - The property was spacious and clean. It is located in a new built house. Bathroom was shared but also nice and clean. Host provided nice snacks and tea (basic stuff but still lovely). Was hard to find how to get to the property.
- Francesco (6/5): Pleasant -
- Diosdado (10/5): My overnight stay at Sleeping Portomarin 2 - Quiet neighborhood and clean property N/A
- Clare (7/5): Good - Rooms were clean and comfortable, good facilities including items for coffee and breakfast provided, location was good
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional - After a day walking the Camino this was a great place to stay. There was water, fruit and snacks left out for our use when we arrived and available to take for breakfast. The bathroom and bedroom were clean and comfortable, The check in close time was early at 16:00 and only by chance did we check this. We were running late and thought we may not make the check-in time but I messaged and the host replied straight away and said they would wait for us to arrive, which thankfully was only a few minutes past 16:00.
- Stefania (10/5): Clean comfy room with small breakfast goodies offered - - Very clean
- Some breakfast goodies included (orange juice, tea, coffee, fruit, small croissants, biscuits, and cold bottled water)
- Easy to drop off luggage
- Place to dry out clothes
- Comfortable bed
- Towels, shower stuff and hair dryer included
- 4 min away from the main street
- friendly staff
- Kevin (8/5): Very good - Spacious and comfortable, though very basic room. Snacks/breakfast provided and nice shared kitchen area. 4 PM cut-off for check in - I ended up hiring a taxi for the last two miles (and then to go back to where I left off) to get to the property in time for the check-in.
Shared w/c ran out of toilet paper (fortunately I had my own).
- Gian (10/5): Very good place and staff - I was in difficulties to reach the place and I arrived much in delay but the guy, much kindly, not only allowed me to check in in delay, but even picked up me in the town!
- Bartolo (10/5): Exceptional - I love the location of this albergue.
The host is an amazing men.
Very generous, he provided fruits, tea, instant coffee milk etc.
Thank you, thank you
- Ismael (8/5): Very good - Nice clean home. Friendly staff and easy check in. It was too hot to sleep with windows closed. Leaving the windows open let noise in. Especially the dog barks right next door that went on all night.
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely clean rooms in new building. Lots of fruit etc left for guests.
- Brian (9/5): Comfortable and so clean - A lovely room in what was a modern detached house. A little out of town, so be prepared for the extra 400 metres of uphill once you enter town (assuming you are on the Camino). Well worth finding though, as it was modern, spacious and a very generous breakfast was provided
- Chelo (8/5): It was good - The place is new, clean and it offered everything we needed. The bed was too small for 2 people. The address does not appear on GPS so it was very difficult to find.
- Carla (9/5): Superb -
- Evelyn (8/5): New clean property - Stayed here whilst doing the Camino.Newly built property. Very clean. Well stocked kitchen with free snacks, water and hot drinks. Slightly on the outskirts of the town. Thin walls so could hear other guests. Shared bathroom
- Hazel (8/5): Very good -
- Jenny (10/5): A wonderful stay - There was thought into running this accommodation. She had water, coffee, tea, fruit, juice, cakes available for all guests. She really made our stay wonderful with all her little touches. Thank you, we will visit again.
- Vanessa (10/5): Exceptional value - Super friendly host who was so kind and helpful. She had a fridge full of fruit croissants and cake and tea coffee, orange juice etc.
Super clean
We had a perfect room for 3 o f us and super clean shared bathroom
Would highly recommend Nothing
- Lucinda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Weiwei (10/5): Exceptional - The equipment is very new, the bed is very comfortable, the free drinks and snacks are great The sound insulation effect of the floor is not good
- Leanne (8/5): lovely clean good for value place - good value for money
very clean a little out of the way and hard to find the access to the house from road above, better signage of street side on the high side. rooms a little nosiest especially the shared bathroom door.
- Leslie (9/5): Great spot after a hot day on Camino. All necessities met. - The hostess was kind and accommodating. There was fresh fruit and beverages available for free. She made sure we were comfortable. No complaints
- Elliott (9/5): Superb -
- Kelsey (10/5): clean and very comfortable! - Very clean. The smell of clean laundry on arrival was so welcoming! It was a little tricky to arrive at! I could see it but my weary brain had difficulty getting down there!
- Jennifer (10/5): Comfortable and welcoming! - Very clean and comfortable. Added bonus of fruit, cakes, refreshments and water and foot massage machine (2 euros). Slightly off the beaten track but actually close to the town once you know where you are! Lovely lady welcomed me, just had to call when I arrived and she was there within minutes. All good
- Diana (9/5): Superb - Almost everything great about this place! Not too far from the center of the village, very clean, comfortable, with all necessary facilities plus more! we loved the foot massager and the fact that there was food for our breakfast the time slot for the check in is way too strict (only between 1pm and 4pm)
- Kathleen (10/5): Enjoyable, welcoming and perfect for camino rest - Immaculate. Rooms were light, spacious.
Shared bathroom is bright, modern, large and works very well. Downstairs is again clean, spacious shared area with tea, coffee facilities and complimentary fruits, cakes - so welcoming and within minutes walk of Portomarin town centre with ample restaurants, albergues snd coffee shops
- Doug (10/5): A great place to stay in Portomarin a little away from the crowds. - The host was very friendly and provided free snacks, coffee, tea, and water. And the foot and leg massager was an added bonus. It was hard to find and inconvenient to walk to the entrance of the house.
- Jose (10/5): Exceptional -
- William (10/5): Beautiful place lovely location - we stayed in an apartment- it was so clean and comfortable - the lady provided water and snacks at no extra cost although it was a shared bathroom it did not impact on our trip nothing all was excellent
- Abigail (9/5): Superb -
- Javier (7/5): Ok - Personal staff Far away
- Jennifer (9/5): Superb -
