I booked "Home to Home" in Plaistow, London, on January 5, 2025, via Booking.com, paying £1,607.91 after discounts. The property's Zone 3 location was ideal for our group, which included two toddlers and two elderly family members.
However, on the day of check-in, I was informed of a gas leak at the original property and was relocated to an alternative in Zone 4, without prior notice or option to decline. The new location increased our commute time and costs, and the environment triggered allergies in both myself and my elderly father.
Given the circumstances, we had no practical choice but to accept the alternative accommodation. A 20% refund was offered, but this doesn't reflect the downgrade's impact. I estimate the replacement property's value at approximately £1,039, significantly less than what was paid.
I am requesting a refund of at least £600 to account for the difference in value and the additional expenses incurred. The handling of this situation was disappointing, and I hope for a prompt and fair resolution.

- Adam (1/5): Appalling, unacceptable unsafe accommodation- no refund by owner despite us leaving on police advice - Nothing The fridge was dirty. The rug under the coffee table was filthy with food and apparent vomit stains. The code didn't work to open the lock box. Had to call owner who gave another code and then said why haven't you paid the deposit. I was never contacted to pay an additional deposit sum. I said I had assumed any such amount would be taken from the credit card made to make the booking. The owner contradicted that and said the amount had to paid directly to him independently and he would arrange it via WhatsApp.
On entering the property apart from the filth the striking thing was 13 envelopes stuffed with cash on the coffee table, one of which wasn't sealed. We felt totally uncomfortable and unsafe in such a situation. We contacted Booking.com who were unable to resolve the situation. Whilst on the line with them another one of the party contacted the police. They found this situation very serious and came immediately. On entering the property and assessing the situation they advised us that it was unsafe to stay there and that we should leave and find alternative accommodation. We relayed this information to Booking.com who again failed to resolve the situation. The owner was contacted (he later phoned me directly) but he refused to refund any of the amount already paid, despite the police having advised us to leave.
We are over 500 pounds out of pocket and had an alarming and scary experience.

It was a lovely stay and will definitely recommend for any looking for a relaxing and spacious place to stay. All appliances worked properly and I had no major issues to discuss with the host.
