Guest Reviews
- Elan (7/5): Best location, wack operation - Its location, ease of access, and instructions were great. The pillows were the worst pillows I’ve ever encountered. Practically a sheet in a pillow case.
- Aaron (5/5): - Location is good. Price was OK. There is no indication on the street where it is. You have to go down a narrow alley and climb stairs. The room doesn't really match the vibe of the photos. It's really just an old-school ryokan-style room with some Manga stuff on a shelf and some retro posters.
- Guest (7/5): This homestay is worth the money. - The toilet was very comfortable. The room had lots of adorable anime figurines. The bed was very cozy. Self-service check-in and check-out were very convenient. The shower water was either extremely cold or extremely hot, with no way to adjust to a comfortable temperature, resulting in a poor experience. There was no bathtub for soaking. No dryer was provided. There was no elevator, making it exhausting to carry luggage. The blackout curtains were ineffective, leaving the room very bright even with them closed.
- Samuel (10/5): Practical and traditional. - It was an unmanned apartment so no breakfast as you'd expect. There are plenty of places to eat or shops to buy food and snacks.
- Jordan (4/5): Ok for 2 people. - Location, responsive staff The bed for the 3rd person is a dirty sponge with no sheets. Toilet door doesn’t lock.
- Jack (10/5): Overall this was the best place I could think of to spend a week in Japan it really was so much fun to see the art in th - Such a fun vibe in the room and the area Was very easy to get too and felt very secure
- Christine (6/5): Beside the cold i had a good time in this place :) - Well located, the place is not far from the center of Shinjuku. You have everything you need in a 5-10 min away by foot (shops, restaurants, métro station..ect). Quiet at night so you can sleep peacefully. A lot of people in Japan live in appartement like this one so it was a good immersion for me since It’s an old building the isolation is not that good so it was pretty cold sometimes. The bedroom is between the balcony and the kitchen and the cold air was coming from both of them so Even with the air conditioning it was a bit hard to heat the place ( it was 4° outside when i stayed there so maybe not a problem when It’s hotter)
(Not a problem for me but the stairs to go to the appartement can be narrow/steep for some people or to carry your suitcase up)
- Becky (8/5): Cute room. Great location. - The room is great for small families with older kids. I would say sotuable for 8 years older kids as they would look the roo.. There are lots of comic books for them to read, and the decoration is great as well. My kids say the room is great. Also, the location is good as well. Very convenience. Walking distance to Shinjuku and subway. Nothing we don't like. However, just suggestions. I need a mirror🤣 if the owner can prepare a mirror in the room, it would be great. And prepare toothpaste would be prefect. We have 3 people, It was a bit cold at night time, if we got 2 more blankets, it would be fantastic
- Andrew (7/5): We had an enjoyable time and the apartment was close to the station. - I liked the location, the decorations, and how easy it was to find it. The shower smelled and the bathroom was small.
- Wiles (8/5): Cute apartment in a great location. - Great location and it was easy to communicate with the host. Be prepared that the shower room is located on the balcony and is a little bit cold.
- Eduardo (1/5): Sucked, wish it on nobody else - Close to action Small room for 3 people, pictures lied, showed two property’s on one booking
- Benjamin (3/5): Poor - This review will be for the room with the futons, as I had that room with a couple others. This place's location is pretty good. A lot of Korean bars/restaurants around this area, and there's a don quijote nearby. It's a good room with all the necessities, and me personally, would suggest that the max amount of people that can stay in this room be two. The owner was also very responsive. Sadly I have more dislikes than likes about this place. It doesn't say anywhere on this page, but to get to the futon room you have to walk up a fairly steep flight of stairs, which was extremely difficult for me and my two other friends as we were each carrying fairly heavy luggages. Adding this fact to the page would've been great to know in advance, as knowing this would have been good to know when we were initially searching for places to stay at.
The futons that we laid out from underneath the desk in this room also had hairs on it, all over which was a bit gross. Additionally, the toilet in this house consistently splashed toilet water out onto the floor in front of it when flushed.
As for the space. For three adults, this room was EXTREMELY small. Especially considering that we brought luggage with us, there was almost next to no walking space for us to walk to and fro the washroom and the bathroom without stepping on our futons. Don't get me wrong, the space is very nice along with its aesthetic, but this room is way too small for three adults. You can for sure stay here for two and one, but it's going to be extremely cramped if you're aiming to stay here with three people or more. On the first day, we realized that the small space, the steep stairway we did not know about, and the sanitary issues we noticed were not sustainable enough for us to stay at this place for a week, so we moved out the next day to another hostel with no refund on the room.
I went to this place back in late August this year, so I hope that these issues have been addressed.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional - Wow! This was the perfect fit for our USA anime group of friends while we visited Tokyo for the 1st time! Cozy and clean. Being new to the country and area,it was slightly difficult to find, but that's on us not the room. Authentic and accommodating! 💯 Would and most likely will come back on future visits. The host was fantastic with communication and so helpful with any questions we had! This accommodation just really made our experience in Tokyo really come together! Thank you to the host! Google maps called the hotel was on the next trailer. Minor detail.
- Estela (7/5): Was so-so stay, but owner easy to get hold of - Apartment is exactly as described. The owner was very responsive to my messages when I message directly using the booking.com platform and well within 10-minutes before midnight of local time. Location is very close subway and right on the heart of Korean town (didn’t know until our taxi driver told us….).price is reasonable…
Washer and detergent included which is a plus… but not enough hangers if washing for a family of 4 …
Ps …. Right after you book, there was message that you must send your passport information…. If you don’t, you won’t be able to check in…. So make sure you do that (one of the review said wasted 3 hours… me… maybe 20 mins because I didn’t know how to work the key lockbox and owner was very responsive and patiently with photos and instructions how to open the box…. (1) have to wiggle the toilet handle to make water stop
(2) not sure spare bedding are clean or not? No smell or stains so I guess so?
(3) maybe because I left one of the glass door open (shower side)… that mosquitos came in thru the cracks?? At least I was bitten several times daily… or was it bed bugs? No clue… but it’s only me… not the my other 3 family members.. and I slept on the spare beddings
(4) one out of 4 bath towels is a bit stinky. I think prior guests didn’t air out properly and simply washing or bleach will not work on almost moldy smell towels in my experience … need to use vinegar and HOT water to get them out is my recommendation … I tried washing them two times (but no clue how to turn on hot water for washer), smell just don’t go away.
