Guest Reviews
- Karen (9/5): Zermatt - a perfect summer holiday spot with a comfortable apartment to relax and unwind - Lovely clean, comfortable apartment within a couple of minutes of the main railway station, shops, restaurants and attractions. Ideal after an 8hr train journey from St. Moritz on the Glacier Express during which we spent the whole day eating gourmet food and drinking fine wine in the Excellence Class carriage (definitely worth the splurge for special occasions). The Zermatt Holidays host team were friendly and there was lots of very helpful with information, maps, books, restaurant suggestions, etc. in the apartment. They also offered us a later check-out on our last morning for no extra charge. Thank you Rianne :) Village of Zermatt very charming and had a nice atmosphere - chic but casual. During summer look out for the black & white goats that walk the length of Bahnhofstrasse around 9am and 4:45pm each day - quite a spectacle. The Matterhorn Museum was very interesting and definitely worth allowing at least 1hr to visit and see all the exhibits, film, etc. Our favourite lunch spot was The Schonegg Hotel Terrace (part of the Relais & Chateau Group) which was surprisingly quiet at lunch time so we had a front row table in the sunshine to gaze at the magestic Matterhorn while drinking champagne and eating delicious food - perfect spot to spend my birthday! Bit disappointed that there wasn't any laundry facilities WITHIN the apartment - blurb implies there is a washing machine and tumble drier in the Kitchen - when in fact there was a shared Laundry Room on the ground floor with iron & ironing board - managed to get some ironing done but the couple of times I went to use the washing machine it was already in use. Only other annoying thing was we were only staying 3 nights instead of 4 as it was difficult to fit in all the bars, restaurants we specifically wanted to try as many didn't open until 4pm (including Hexan & Harry's Bar) so closed for lunch - that said we enjoyed the other places we did eat/drink in.
