Guest Reviews
- Jenna (10/5): - It was such a cute little space perfect for switching off and relaxing! Nothing to dislike
- Branden (8/5): -
- Natalie (10/5): Perfect and relaxing - Beautiful property and gardens was stunning, the welcoming spa music on arrival was a special touch and made it so relaxing. We booked felicity for massages and she was the most amazing therapist I’ve ever used and I’ve used many! She’s worth her weight in gold! We will definitely be coming back The bath was beautiful but wasn’t able to refill the hot water again
- Crystal (4/5): -
- Maureen (9/5): - Very tastefully decorated beautiful Japanese garden & lovely Onsen! Nothing
- Monte (10/5): -
- Lyn (9/5): Beautiful, relaxing, peaceful and lovely - Loved the garden , outdoor bath and the comfy bed Unfortunately I went to use bbq provided and it was dirty
- Caitlyn (10/5): - A beautiful space, very private and relaxing.
- Jaspa (10/5): -
- Ruby (9/5): Relaxing, romantic and rejuvenating! - Absolutely loved our stay made even nicer by the extra touches of the bath salts and the complimentary wine! All facilities worked great / as described and had a beautiful relaxing and comfortable stay :) Outside seating area was very open to weather and seating was damp however understand weather is not in hosts control! But if more rain shelter was built in may help to keep drier during winter months
The outside bath however was so amazing to relax in amidst the cool night air!
- Anjelo (8/5): - Location was beautiful and seems alot of effort put into the place. Is was comfortable and and peaceful. We liked the place alot. The BBQ machine needs more cleaning to be done. As a guest I expect a clean machine but when we opened the machine it was not clean (mouldy with old oil and even had cobb webbs) this is the only one thing that disappointed us because we really wanted to have some outdoor BBQ but we couldn’t.
- Marek (8/5): - Miły i pomocny gospodarz Prywatnosc
- Safdartourei (10/5): Great little retreat Japanese style, very relaxing and smart the bed mattress was one of the best we tried even competin - Peace and quiet extremely comfortable Ac was noisy
Bbq wasn’t as clean we haven’t used it
Some timber logs got loose in the Japanese garden and could cause someone trip
- Ying (9/5): -
- Don (10/5): Owners were kind enough to let us check in sort notice and the place didn’t disappoint us at all! Unique and mind blowin - I think it’s under Renovation (garden) but still looks unique and beautiful
- Brianna (10/5): - Loved the outdoor space, the extra towels given, the cosy feeling. The outdoor tub with the fairy lights made you feel like you were on another planet. Everything was thought out wonderfully! Even with the directions give it's hard to know the right place & designated parking area as no signs - definitely recommend this. The heater in the bedroom is very loud.. Would recommend sending guest information earlier as we would have loved to have purchased kindling or hamper prior to visit but given information the day of arrival wasn't the 24 hours as requested.
- Abby (10/5): I will definitely return for future weekend escapes - A perfect, hills getaway with a friend or for a couple. It had everything we needed and the accommodation provided comfort and quirky features. Advertised as pre-finished but was better than some 5star hotels we have stayed in before. Tech set up for comfort, entertainment and enjoyment outside was wonderful There really wasn't anything to complain about!
- Paul (10/5): - It was very private and comfortable. stunning gardens. Well maintained and looked after. Host was amazing. Plenty of places to wine and dine nearby.
- Jane (8/5): Very relaxing - Very cosy and I loved the attention to detail. It was a little cold on the first night.
- Jenelle (6/5): - Bath was lovely bed comfortable nice to have a full size fridge Sound system was a little hard to navigate getting Spotify from phone to TV to outdoor sound system.
Heater/air-conditioning unite in bedroom was very noisy.
- Peter (10/5): - Great quiet location away from the city centre. It is a great location to wind down. Upon arrival, Wendy greeted us with a big smile. She gave us a run down on the japanese bath. There is surround sound and nice lighting when using the facility. Would come back again :)
- Alberto Jr Co (10/5): - We loved the relaxing and peaceful ambience of the place that give us the rest that we needed. And the spring hot tub is one of the best part of the place.
- Donna (8/5): Enjoyed the property. Cosy and warm. - Hot tub was magnificent. Lovely quiet location. Nice and warm. Noisy air conditioner in bedroom. Toilet seat was moving around a lot.
- Charmaine (8/5): Interesting and Comfortable accommodation - Really cool vibe, nice outdoor area and well equipped accommodation. Please fill the soap and dish washing dispensers as well as toilet paper.
- Valentino (3/5): Didnt sleep well due to smelly pillows - The bath. Pillows smells very bad. Some of the items that were part of the welcome package were not there such as oil to soothe the body is nowhere to be found. The whole place smells like astray.
- Zachary (10/5): -
- Michael (10/5): Memorable! A++ - Peaceful atmosphere with everything we needed.
Felicity went out of her way to make our wedding anniversary special and memorable. Thank you once again! The outdoor heater and fire pit helped with the cold August nights after getting out of the beautiful hot bath.
- Stephanie Luoluo (10/5): Enjoyed my stay - A little Japanese sanctuary with outdoor garden. Shower is like a strong massage shower and so relaxing. The room is nice and clean and welcoming. Feeling a good energy at this property with Japanese decorations, tarot cards and positive messages. Feeling rejuvenated and energized after all. Outdoor bath is a little too cold to use in winter and the wood is a little rotten.
- Peter (7/5): A pleasant if somewhat quirky alternative for a couple of nights stay to explore the beautiful Adelaide Hills - Private, lovely gardens just getting established, peaceful, zen, interesting decor & fit-out, water is HOT, Netflix available Hard to find, attached to larger house, small kitchen, small shower, very few local eating options
- Kelsey (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anna (9/5): Superb - Can't wait to come back once it's finished
- Poyzer (6/5): Pleasant - Location was good The whole place seemed a little run down and quite untidy outside
- Pam (9/5): very relaxing and close to other hills attractions - very relaxing and beautiful setting.
complementary wine, chocolate and body scrub was lovely! a few people walking around close by at night.
towels were a little musty smelling
- Ronaldo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emily (8/5): Would recommend. - A beautifully clean and cosy retreat, offering a peaceful atmosphere and a delightful aroma throughout. The outdoor spa bath looked inviting, though the cold and wet weather kept us from indulging. The provided shower toiletries were a lovely touch. Nestled in a charming area with a welcoming local pub for dinner and conveniently close to Hahndorf, this spot is an excellent choice for both short getaways and longer stays. Highly recommended! The front door. Even though a very private area if we had to dislike something. It would be the front door. we just felt the front door should have been frosted or maybe have a curtain to pull over.
- June (6/5): Pleasant - Atmosphere was great nice area Couldn't get tv to work even after talking with owner who tried her best to help also very cold in unit
- Natalie (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful and secluded place. The only thing that could have improved it was the weather!
- Shauna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ella (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paul (9/5): Lovely unit with sensational Japanese outdoor bath - Outside Japanese bath/hot tube Nothing - was very comfortable
- Jane (10/5): Incredible outdoor bath and amazing location. - From the moment you walked through the gate you felt relaxed with zen music playing in a gorgeous Japanese garden. The bath was magical. Nothing it was fabulous.
- Taran (1/5): Not what was expected. - The bonsi tree in the yard Spiders both inside and outside, several spiders inside the property in corners of each room as well as spider eggs and webs on the front door to enter. The peaceful retreat was why we booked to have a getaway and enjoy a hot tub. Unfortunately the hot tub was falling about with paint chip and wooden splinter that could hurt someone. there were several human hairs on the bedside table which showed the place isn't cleaned well. With all this we would of assumed the place was private aswell however the hot tub could of been seen or accessed by anyone the "resort" is a granny flat attached to a home not owned by the person advertising the stay. Being an attached granny flat your stay is separated by a locked door. Meaning you can hear everything inside the main house walking talking ect. Which was not comfortable. Not only was the outside riddled with spiderwebs the main house was doing construction during our stay after 20minutes on the property my partner and I were deliberating on weather we should stay when we finally decided to leave after a Man walked straight past our bedroom window we were so uncomfortable and left after 20minutes and didn't return
- Jody (4/5): Japanese theme inspired granny flat - It was clean inside (except some dirty glasses). Bed was ok.
Functional looking kitchen but not used. Outside Japanese bath wasn’t properly water sealed & was dirty. Back area not secure (gate locked open). Strange smell inside (stale odour). View out front not very nice. Wires hanging from ceiling in bedroom & only one side lamp. Not cheap ($330) considering what was provided. Needs more work!
- Mary (10/5): Rejuvenating and refreshing stay! - Beautiful and tranquil garden, elegant interiors, with little extras making for a very relaxing stay.
- Tich-lam (8/5): Cosy, relaxing getaway - The accommodation itself was wonderful. The garden space and Japanese bath were truly delightful. We absolutely loved the natural decor; the combination of wooden slabs, linen, and indoor plants created a warm, cozy, and eco-friendly atmosphere. The addition of bath salts and scrubs was a thoughtful touch that enhanced our experience.
Thank you also for the complimentary bottle of wine and chocolates—they were much appreciated. Small suggestions for improvement: Clearer signage at the driveway entrance would have been very helpful, as it took us some time—and even the neighbour’s assistance—to locate the property. The instructions mentioned massage oils stored on top of the fridge, but these were not available. Additionally, the candles were missing wicks, and the bathtub could have been cleaner to make it feel more inviting.
Overall, a lovely stay with just a few minor areas for enhancement.
- Lara (7/5): Good -
- Stefanie (9/5): Superb -
- Shubh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kath (8/5): Relaxing - Fresh … great bath beautiful location
- Wade (9/5): After huge day driving from Melbourne, such a great place to relax and unwind. - Quiet, very clean, relaxing. Nothing. Couldn’t fault.
- Alex (10/5): Well worth a visit! -
- Mary-anne (8/5): Very good - The garden is beautiful, only wish they had a big spa and a bigger shower alcove. There is plenty to do, and it is close to cafes and wineries.
It has kitchen and cooking facilities .We had a lovely stay.
- Christina (7/5): Good - Location,
Aesthetically pleasing
Quiet Lack of signage
The outdoor bath has a plug that doesn't quite plug in properly.
- Antonio (4/5): Disappointed - The garden The shower too small. No real privacy in the garden hot tub area.
- Michael (10/5): Amazing location and Retreat! - Absolutely loved this place to stay a little retreat away. Hot tub was amazing and the bed was perfect we haven't slept better! So plush! Such a lovely hidden gem that we will definitely be back to in the future without a doubt! Highly recommend it!!
- Manreet (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chris (10/5): Excellent value for money and highly recommend for a quiet retreat. - Excellent communication and instructions from host. Door code supplied. Fantastic Japanese gardens and bath. Excellent mood lighting and music. Complimentary bottle of wine and chocolate. Early promotional visit so excellent value for money. No major dislikes
- Fiona (9/5): Superb - lovely property. Well equipped, loved the outdoor onsen, beautiful private location.
- Montana-jaye (7/5): nice and comfortable but a bit disappointed that the price didnt include breakfast - the property was close to the town and the gardens were beautiful. super close to the freeway so it was easy to commute to places within the adelaide hills the price didn’t include breakfast. it is around $260 a night plus $40pp per night for breakfast, it was my understanding that b&bs provided breakfast.
- Kristen (7/5): A peaceful stay in a great location for sightseeing - Great location, reasonable price
- Dawn (8/5): Great little peaceful place - Beautiful outdoor area. The bath was amazing . Comfortable bedding. Peaceful area. The barbecue was dirty. The shower has a very small door and would be quite difficult for anyone with a larger body to fit into .
The microwave is very high and hard to reach. If you're under 5"4"
The curtains don't fully close in the bedroom letting the light in early(minor niggle)
- Lin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Siyeni (9/5): Superb -
- Jodie (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing, the outdoor space is beautiful relaxing and enjoyable.
- Katie (9/5): Superb - Garden was relaxing and vitalising.
Apartment was beautiful set up, very relaxing Felt pre clean was rushed, not enough toilet paper, coffee or milk.for duration of stay.
Previous clients Orange juice. Ice and apple juice in fridge..
Never heard back on the massage request.
- Arash (7/5): Good - The vibe, the garden Hot tub takes more than 45 min to reheat. We waited around an hour and 15 min still it was not hot enough.
- Sara095000 (8/5): Very good - the bath and bed were a big hit.
- Ryan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hayley (10/5): The bath was absolutely beautiful. The accommodation was really comfortable. We had an amaxing time! - The bath was absolutely beautiful. The accommodation was really comfortable. We had an amaxing time!
- Jannah (9/5): Superb -
- Renee (10/5): Anniversary weekend getaway - The outdoor bath was amazing. Even though it was cold and wet outside, the bath was so warm, and the heat lamp made it warm when I got out too. If I had to be picky. The shower is really small for a bigger person. There is nothing else. It was amazing.
- Peta (9/5): Superb -
- Eesha (3/5): Unresponsive host, not worth the money - The bath is nice. Wendy is unresponsive and the property looks a lot better in the pictures than in real life.
Wendy sent us a message just hours before our check in telling us all about the wonderful features and offers available at the property. When I messaged back asking if we could have the breakfast as suggested she didn’t reply.
We sent other messages as well both here and by text and tried to call multiple times. We heard nothing back from her until after check out, in which she was rude to us saying we should have requested the breakfast and other things in advance despite us only finding out about it on the day of check in. We would have loved to have the breakfast and massage and make full use of our stay but Wendy never answered to my many calls and texts.
We paid over $200/night to stay here and were disappointed overall by the experience. We thought it would be a special last night in Adelaide for us and it wasn’t. Wouldn’t recommend it.
- Izzy (8/5): Very good - The garden and outdoor bath were fantastic! Could have used some more/brighter lights for activities in the evening.
- Scott (10/5): Beautiful location. Easy drive from the city. - Clean, well supplied. Great ammenities Nothing
- Cameron (9/5): Superb - It was a very comfortable stay. Felt very relaxed, especially using the outdoor bath.
The wine is a nice touch. Possibly better bbq and some slightly brighter lights in main area.
- Kyle (8/5): Very good -
- Sangay (8/5): We will visit again, love hot bath -
- Rachael (6/5): Beautiful and serene - Remembering it is still a work in progress, the owners have decorated it beautifully so far and would definitely return to see it completely finished. That wooden outside Japanese bath was lovely even though it was a freezing cold night, when we got in the bath it was totally the opposite…..Perfection!! We booked a couples massage and wow!!! Very happy very relaxing, worth every dollar, well done Wendy and Felicity xx I think there is a few things that the retreat does have but just needs tweaking, like microwave positioning is too high, maybe the lounge room lighting be dimmable rather than only dimmed, bed was quite firm so could do with a soft topper, wooden bath plug needs to be adjusted as I had to hold it down while we took our bath. Otherwise the retreat is a beautiful little hideaway.
- Stafford (5/5): Passable -
- Anjelica (10/5): Exceptional - Everything, the host qas amazing. The outdoor bath under the stars was so lovely with a beautiful view of the Japanese style garden. Will recommend everyone I know N/a
- Dr (6/5): Pleasant -
- Simon (5/5): We had a nice get away for a night but felt the description and photos were a bit deceptive. - The idea of it is great. Garden is very nice. Clean and comfortable. The split system heating was terrible, seems to hardly work and I quite loud. Curious about how private it actually is with windows from higher buildings looking down into the garden. TV needs free to air channels.
The idea of it being a relaxing getaway is great but thought the noise from the road and planes flying over makes that a bit hard to achieve. Not to mention feeling like at any moment you will see someone looking at you from one of the neighboring windows.
- Taylor (2/5): Not impressed - Very average Bug in bed
No toilet paper
No salt
No sauce
More appropriate for summer
Not very clean
Heating didn't work
TV could get the volume to work
Microwave might aswell put on first floor
Photos made it look better
It's more luke a Granny flat or extension add on
I wouldn't stay here again
- Kevin (7/5): A taste of the hills and a theme of Japanese decor and exterior works well. - The theme and location. Its as stated getting the fine tuning underway. I would have been happy to make suggestions as i operate holiday accom over many years if asked. Good potential to take to the next level in my view for minimal effort but the owners may have that in hand as they settle in to running it over time.
- Steven (8/5): Cute, nice little place highly recommended, thoroughly enjoyed my stay - Outdoor bath Air conditioner noisy and not very effective
- Yin (10/5): Fabulous stay - Comfortable environment and fresh air. Nice bed as well, we've a good night rest. The glass door should have a cloth or whatever to cover, it's a bit scary as we will walk pass the glass door when we need to use toilet in the night.
- Shah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gregory (5/5): Would have been a lot better if the absolute basics were done properly - Will be nice once the basic issues are sorted out Booking didn't go well, booked a couple of months in advance and found out a couple of days before that it was 'double booked'. Was moved to the larger neighboring house and received multiple conflicting messages for how to access the property. Clarified with the property and were given explicit instructions with key code which we found was incorrect once we arrived at the property in the dark. On-site manager could not be contacted and the only way we were able to access the property was via the unlocked back door. This remained our only means of accessing the property for the weekend as calls, messages weren't responded to. Property could be really great but it's just very stressful to stay at. Oh, and add a blind to the bathroom as the people working in the garden look directly into it.
- Shanley (9/5): Superb - Was stunning setting.great location,very comfortable and cosy.well worth it.id visit again.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional - The hosts were very generous and helpful, the place was very comfortable and well set up. Loved the Japanese garden!
- Deneise (10/5): Wow what a gem in the Adelaide hills - The ambience of the whole place it was a beautifull stay with everything we needed Nothing Loved everything
- Edwin (10/5): Nestled among the lush greenery of the Adelaide Hills, the boutique stay delights guests with its serene ambiance, impec -
- Achyut (10/5): We loved to stay and we are definately coming back. - Very quite and private for couple
- Travis (10/5): Valentines day stay - Loved everything alot of love has been put into the place we will be back so clean and tidy and very relaxing. We loved everything
- Ron (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (10/5): Very good value and located in a premium part of the Adelaide Hills, close to Stirling and easy access to the city. - Great little retreat in the beautiful Adelaide Hills. Japanese themed with a lovely secluded outdoor area and traditional style bath. Small well equipped kitchen allowed us to self-cater. Complimentary wine and platter on arrival was very welcome. Friendly and responsive hosts. The space is charming and comfortable with numerous indoor plants and had everything we needed.
- Annet (9/5): Thoroughly enjoyable stay. - The complete ambiance of the place was excellent. It provided a peaceful atmosphere inside and out. All the areas were immaculately clean. It would be a pleasure to stay here again and recommend to others. There was not anything to dislike, however as mentioned in the earlier review a few housekeeping feedbacks for the future:
1. Labels on the outside light switches would be helpful, e.g Festoon Lights.
2. Microwave location was too up high for any mediocre person :)
3. A "with compliments" card would be nice to indicate if wine and the cheese snacks were complimentary.
4. While the streaming programs were excellent , local live TV should also be provided.
- Krzysztof (9/5): Superb -
- Franklyn (8/5): Very good -
