Guest Reviews
- Oren (1/5): - The food was ok The room had no light,we told the staff, and nothing has been done. The shower was broken + no hot water (sometimes no pressure too)
The windows were not in tact. We had creatures fly in & out of the room.
They do not write it up front - but there is no electricity for the whole day.
We will not go back there
- Garance (10/5): - A magnificent island, just like its inhabitants, with a very warm and family-friendly atmosphere; you feel right at home. The resort staff are exceptional, kind, and offer many activities!
Thank you for this wonderful, secluded experience… I will be back 🥹 Not much Wi-Fi during the day
- Erika (8/5): Loved it! - The location was great with good snorkeling right out front. The staff was amazing and we absolutely loved all the people who worked there and how they made us feel like family. The ocean front bures had huge trees in front of them so we had actually had zero view of the ocean.
- Hannah (10/5): -
- Carl Christoph (10/5): Peaceful, authentic stay with amazing people and nature experiences - We had an amazing stay at Waya Lailai Eco Haven. The staff were incredibly kind, welcoming, and approachable, and we really appreciated the authentic cultural experiences like the kava ceremony and church service. The food was excellent throughout the day. Breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner were always fresh and delicious.
The whole atmosphere felt very authentic and heartfelt. Our highlights were the mountain hike with beautiful views, snorkeling in the clear water, and relaxing in the hammocks. A perfect place to experience true Fijian hospitality. Highly recommended! Everything was very relaxed and simple, which is part of the authentic island experience. The limited phone signal actually turned out to be a big plus for us, as it helped us fully disconnect and enjoy the peaceful island atmosphere. Nothing major to complain about.
- Tate (10/5): Everything I was looking for in one place and an unforgettable experience. - Location is excellent, a short walk to a hill that overlooks all the islands and a beautiful beach. Local villages, fishing spots and reefs with sharks are all very close so there’s lots to do. The food and hospitality it amazing, 3 full meals + afternoon tea and evening Kava are included. Evening activities like camp fires and cultural lessons are included too. It’s also great how this resort is locally owned and operated and provides a great benefit to locals on the island. The stay was perfect for me but it’s not perfect for everyone. The rooms are basic with no A/C, no hot water or wifi in the rooms (only in the common areas.) electricity is not always on. However this is an eco resort and this is mainly a deliberate choice to keep rooms basic and encourage people to enjoy the beautiful island. But if you are planning on staying in your room on your phone all day this is not the place for you.
- Linchuan (10/5): -
- Martin (8/5): Fantastic buffet food in a professionally run establishment - Lovely welcome by musicians as our connecting boat arrived on the beach
Nice beachfront accommodation
Good beach
Fantastic buffet food (the best of all 3 islands we visited)
Great church service on Sunday Lacked the Robinson Crusoe experience of the smaller homestays
Not enough hammocks. The staff would grab them for themselves.
Not ideal for swimming as beach is exposed to choppy waves & wind
- Sofia (7/5): Nice simple stay where to base off a few snorkeling, scuba diving (bull sharks), and hiking trips. - The coral reef off the beach and across the channel. Rooms are tidy and comfortable, although very simple and could have been cleaner. The hike up the island peak is worth the effort - amazing views! The staff wasn’t always transparent around activities and extras’ prices (my laundry initially costed 20FJD and I later got charged 30FJD).
- Ayesha (8/5): -
- Douglas (10/5): -
- JuLia (8/5): -
- Markus (10/5): Awesome - Everyone is so friendly and the atmosphere is so awesome! feels just like home!
- Rebecca (10/5): If you stay in one place in the yasawas, make it here - The staff are incredible. It’s no luxury, but the facilities are everything you need - the food is amazing, I couldn’t say a single bad thing about my stay. I genuinely wanted to cry leaving. A perfect place to switch off. I heard the staff are rude to Homestay guests (ie not the guests of the resort) but I didn’t experience anyone being rude at all. The WiFi isn’t great here - but that didn’t impact my stay as my Airalo worked, and it was a great chance to be a little more off grid for once!
- Gavin (9/5): - The staff 10 out of 10. Chilled laid back vibe with the local village close by with a real authentic fiji experience. Small thing maybe some sun beds.
Saying that though they did have lot's of hammocks
- TIAN CI (10/5): -
- Antonio (10/5): - Since the very first moment, I felt at home and truly welcomed. The hospitality was wonderful, and the local people were always available, kind, and smiling. The excursions were well worth it, and everything felt relaxed and immersive—you really lose track of time and become fully surrounded by nature.
A special thanks to Tailor, Kitti, Joe, Eve, Koli, and all the rest of the staff. They went above and beyond, even remembering all the guests’ names, which made everything feel very personal.
We had an amazing beach lunch, a beautifully organized cava ceremony, and the staff were always happy, singing, and creating such a warm atmosphere throughout the stay.
An unforgettable experience—thank you to everyone for making it so special.
- Elisa (10/5): -
- Aurelie (10/5): Just perfect ! - A huge thank you to the whole team. It was a wonderful family holiday! The choice of activities is varied and suitable for everyone. This island is incredible both on land and at sea !
- Amore (10/5): -
- Jiří (10/5): - První zastávka naší cesty po Fiji. Skvělé místo, krásné jednoduché ubytování, bezvadná děvčata fantasticky vaří! Vale a další! Udělejte si výstup na horu nad vesnicí. Je to tu skvělé!

- Liberty (10/5): I only spent 2 nights here but I wish I stayed longer. I felt so sad to leave. I will definitely be returning!!! - The staff are so friendly here, I felt truly welcome from the moment we pulled up to the beach.
I find this is a perfect blend of a resort structure, with a homestay feel. The dorms are lovely and overlook the water, they are small and well equipped with a comfortable mattress and fan! It’s very easy to be social at this stay and the staff could not be kinder. The activities are affordable, I did the reef shark snorkel and would say it is excellent value for money - it was amazing. Staff playing volleyball everyday and open for any guests to join. Staff are singing in the mornings and will sit with a guitar, playing away. Truly magical!
Nichts!!!!!
- Sorcha (8/5): Very relaxing, beach side eco stay for switching off and relaxing. - Very warm welcome from the staff and local people. Food was tasty and was a great place to switch off and relax.
- Dan (10/5): -
- Annabelle (8/5): Authentic experience of Fiji Island life with very friendly staff - Food was fantastic and lots of it. You can Snorkel right off the beach. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Bed was broken and shower leaked. So the accommodation was basic but authentic which was what we were looking for.
- John (9/5): Fantastic! - Fantastic community run lodge, lovely people, great snorkelling off the beach, we'll be back!
- Sixten (10/5): -
- Marco (8/5): Bis zum nächsten mal - Sehr schöne unterkumft. Sehr freundliches personal.
- Malene (10/5): It was a very unique and personal experience which was very authentic - the common area was very good for meeting new people and being social
- Alice (10/5): Should've stayed longer in paradise - We stayed at Wayalailia for three nights at the start of January, it was not long enough! The island is the most beautiful place and the beach is stunning. The moment we stepped off the boat we felt relaxed. Our favourite thing about it was the snorkeling off the beach, you can borrow snorkeling equipment and spend all day in the sea, so many fish and beautiful coral. We also went and snorkelled with sharks which was so cool. The bungalows are really cute and comfortable, we slept really well. The food is delicious and plenty of it, and they were able to cater to my partner's peanut allergy without any issues. If you are looking for a souless 5 star resort this will not be the place for you, but what makes it so amazing is the people, so friendly and welcoming we were genuinely sad to be leaving. We had two weeks in fiji this was by far our favourite place, we will defintiely make time to come back one day. It is a little run down and rustic, but not in a way that was an issue for us. The shower was cold, not an issue with it being hot and humid weather, it was actually nice to cool down. And you only have electricity certain times of day, and very little signal. In our opinion this only added to the experience, it was really nice to switch off and relax away from modern life.
- Millie (8/5): Great place with a calm, ‘authentic’ atmosphere! - The staff are super lovely and very welcoming! Dorms were clean and comfortable, with lots of bug screens to prevent insects at night!
Sad to have had to cut my stay short due to cyclone Vaianu, however I hope to be back to enjoy the island and all it has to offer! The electricity supply can be limited during the day, however it’s always on over night! Was never an issue for me.
- Unai (8/5): -
- Emmanuelle (10/5): - If you're wanting to experience community and culture, Wayalailai Eco Haven is the place to stay! The team come from the local villages on the island and share nothing but warmth and kindness with all the visitors, greeting you personally by name every day.
It is a relatively small accommodation where you can meet all the other guests at communal meal times or on any of the many activities they offer throughout the day. This really helps with the community and personal feel of the stay.
We took part in the sunset hike, village and school visit, and snorkelling with reef sharks. They offer plenty of activities and the team are great guides, offering local insight and the opportunity to just have a chat and get to know them. A special shout out to TaiLo, Abby and Joe among the whole team who helped us on our visit!
As mentioned earlier, breakfast, lunch and dinner is communal with the other guests. The team put on a lovely homemade spread for each of the meals, and everything was delicious!
We also had the opportunity to participate in the kava ceremony, with many of the elders from the local village joining in - including the Chief! It truly felt like we were welcomed in as one of their own.
It is by no means a luxury resort, so if you don't mind a little bit of true off-the-grid island life, I one hundred percent recommend Wayalailai Eco Haven and would definitely come back!
- Kristin (8/5): A truly special, community-driven island experience - I had a wonderful stay at the Waya Lailai Island Resort. From the very beginning, the experience felt unique – even the transfer from the main ferry to the smaller boats was incredibly well-organized and impressive to watch.
What really makes this place stand out is its atmosphere. The resort is run by the local village, and you can genuinely feel that sense of community. It doesn’t feel like a typical resort, but more like being welcomed into a family. The staff are warm, kind, and go out of their way to make you feel at home.
The food was a highlight – easily the best I’ve had in Fiji so far. Every meal was fresh, delicious, and prepared with care.
The vibe overall is very relaxed. It’s the perfect place to slow down: spend time at the beach, go for a hike, read in a hammock, and connect with other travelers. I met so many lovely people from all over the world – it’s a very social and friendly environment.
I did have a issue with my room initially, but I want to highlight how exceptionally well this was handled. The team responded immediately, took my concern seriously, and resolved it in such a thoughtful and professional way that it actually made my stay even better. Truly outstanding service.
If you’re looking for luxury in the classic sense, this might not be it – but if you’re after authenticity, connection, and a beautiful place to unwind, this is something really special.
- Isabella (10/5): A beautiful island stay with amazing staff, great food, and unforgettable memories. - We had such a lovely stay at Waya Lailai Eco Haven. The staff were incredibly hospitable and made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. The food was delicious, and the beach views were absolutely stunning. They went above and beyond to make my birthday extra special by singing for me—it was such a memorable and heartfelt moment. Nothing
- Guy (10/5): -
- Lindsay (8/5): Beautiful island and lovely people. More rustic accommodation, so be prepared for that! - Beautiful island and lovely people. The kids enjoyed the weaving that Joshua did! They’re still talking about it. Great hike, snorkeling, and village visit! Cava ceremony was welcoming too!
- Padilla (9/5): - Staff was amazing Limited activities on sundays
- Carter (10/5): -
- Jill (8/5): - Beautiful setting
- Hazel (10/5): Amazing community run lodge that you must visit! - The huts were my favourite so far with regards to where I stayed within Fiji Nothing! It was my favourite place I have stayed so far
- Sara (9/5): Grateful for staying in Waya Lailai Eco Haven - The people of Waya Lailai are the kindest and most helpful people I have ever met. They made you feel at home and as if you were part of their happy family. They treated us extremely well and took care of everything we needed. They told us interesting things about Fijian culture, especially about Waya Lailai. The food was very good and the coral at the beach is so beautiful.
Thanks to all the staff at Waya Lailai — an unforgettable experience. Everything was great, just the matress a little bit old.
- Thomas (9/5): - Very real. , real nice staff, real cool bure, real good food. Real hot during the day, real music with every meal, real village next to it
not a luxury resort but ,a real Fijian island experience resort. We had a real nice time there . Real hot. ( It gets hot in Fiji!!)
- Adam (10/5): Incredible scenery, reef and community - Amazing and unique experience. Gorgeous beachfront rooms with views of the sea. Such friendly hosts and really feel the warmth of the local community, especially at mealtimes. We did the hike to the top of the island which has one of the most spectacular views we’ve ever seen (mountains, islands and reefs down below). The corals on the house reef were some of the best I’ve ever seen and the dive centre on the island was great and organised a professional bull shark dive. Would definitely come back!
- Maciej (10/5): - These were truly the best holidays of our lives. From the very first day, we didn’t feel like guests – we felt like part of the family. The atmosphere was incredibly warm and genuine, as if we were spending time with close friends rather than staying at an accommodation.
The food deserves a special mention – absolutely delicious, homemade, and prepared with so much heart.
What touched us deeply was how they treated our children – with so much care, warmth, and attention, as if they were their own. It gave us an incredible sense of comfort and made the whole experience even more special.
The hardest moment was leaving – it was genuinely emotional, and yes, there were tears. That alone says everything about this place and the people who make it so special.
In fact, we came back again during the same trip – and we already know this won’t be our last visit. We will definitely return in the future.
Vinaka!

- Lily (10/5): The most magical place and people, we hope to return again - We had a fantastic stay at Waya Lailai, TaiLo and her team are all so welcoming, friendly and helpful! We were made to feel at home straight away and when I felt a bit unwell I was helped and looked after by lovely Abi. They welcome and treat you like one of the family and it was a really special stay, we would love to return and recommend it to everyone!
The food was delicious, traditional food and so much of it, they made extra dishes for my gluten free partner too. It was lovely to hear about the island and listen to the beautiful singing in the evening. We stayed in the dorm which was spacious and comfortable. There was a range of activities to choose from and it was so relaxing to lie in the hammocks by the beach and dip in and out of the beautiful sea. A special place with such lovely people.
- Maciej (10/5): -
- Jack (10/5): Feels like home stay on beautiful island - Great little beach for snorkelling, cliff for hiking and few other activities. Everyone is so friendly and the food is great. Very simple set up but is all you need for chill time.

- Liza (10/5): Beautiful Stay - I loved everything about my stay at Waya Lailai so much that I ended up returning again for another stay. Tailo is an amazing host and all of the staff are so warm and welcoming.
You can walk right into the ocean to some amazing snorkelling very close to the hotel. The coral is really beautiful and you can see turtles, sting rays and loads of colourful fish.
The food was delicious and different every day. As a solo traveller, the family style meals made it really easy to meet other people. It really does feel like a little slice of paradise and I can't wait to go back!
- Allison Pollard (10/5): Perfect beach location - Super place, wonderful staff, great rooms and beautiful location.
Lovely food
- harshal (9/5): Loved the place and the people - Great location and overall a nice place . The staff and people on the island are truly amazing . The property is basic and not luxurious but it is clean and beautiful. The food was plentiful and very tasty , home cooked meals and good variety . Beach is good and snorkelling right there made our stay special . Highly recommend the shark snorkeling activity and summit walk ( which is a bit challenging for novices ) we met some amazing people here. This is not a resort like others - we got to experience the Fijian way of life and a glimpse of their culture. Nothing negative- just 2 things I want to say - we had Digicel sim cards and the reception was reasonable for browsing and WhatsApp calls. There is no hot water but here we don’t need hot water as the temperature of water in the shower is just perfect and not cold like in Australia . The people here are just so nice and everyone knows how to sing and play a guitar .
- Elliot (10/5): A perfect stay with amazing people! - We loved Waya Lailai Eco Haven! The staff were amazing, so kind and nothing was ever too much trouble. There was a real community feeling, stunning location and lots and lots of amazing food. There were a range of activities on offer too. Highly recommend- it’s a perfect stay. Nothing- it was all amazing!
- Nico (8/5): -
- Mia Sofie (5/5): -
- Wolfgang (9/5): Very friendly accomodation and good snorkeling - Very good coral reef at the beach. Very friendly familiar staff, which run the Eco Haven. Buffet was good (extra payment). Kayak available. Generator noise at night. Other resorts have batteries for the night.
- Nancy (10/5): - Amazing staff! Everyone is lovely and make you feel apart of their community and traditions. There were amazing coral reefs around the island and we spent many hours snorkelling. We went reef shark snorkelling which was so cool, the sunrise hike to the top of the island was also magical, the best views we had during our trip. Could not recommend Waya Lailai enough!
- Mats (10/5): -
- ROLIN (10/5): -
- Urs (10/5): Best stay on our whole trip!!!! - The staff was so friendly, we immediately felt like home❤️
- Chiara (9/5): Una vera oasi di pace. Puoi decidere tu come vivere la vacanza, se buttarti in attività adrenaliniche o rilassarti sulle - Cibo delizioso
Bungalow vista mare molto carino, con tutto l’essenziale
Attività variegate
Staff gentile e sempre disponibile
- Alex (10/5): - The greatest place to stay on the Yasawa islands, great people, great food and lovely accommodation.
Great water front for snorkelling and the hammocks are fabulous.
Really enjoyed the cava ceremony night and the snorkelling with reef sharks. We had a great time!
If you expect what it says - limited electricity, Wi-Fi etc you will not be disappointed with your beautiful surroundings and the little things that make this place a great stay.
Nix
- Lili (10/5): - Beautiful place and lovely people. We came back to Fiji just to visit Waya Lailai Eck Haven Resort!
- Barbara (8/5): Overall, food was great. Staff very friendly and helpful. Lodging basic. Felt like a local village experience. - The meals provided were excellent. Staff were extremely helpful, friendly and welcoming. Felt like an authentic village experience. The sharing of the local culture was very much appreciated and interesting. The bure we stayed at was very basic and needs some upkeep. There was no hot water and next to no wifi throughout our stay.
- Alisi (10/5): - Food was amazing. Location was perfect. Such a relaxing feel. Everyone was lovely. Great value for money.
- Kiara (8/5): -
- William (10/5): -
- Hélène (10/5): - The location and the activities (i did the reef sharks snorkeling, the sunset summit hike and the Sunday church services) were amazing. The staff are all locals, from the village next door, which makes your stay authentic and ideal to experience a bit of the real Fiji. Everyone is so welcoming and making you feel like family (a special thanks to Mosi for all the stories and the great hike!) Food was great, which a couple of options each time. Only thing to note is to bring some water if you can - you will get some at lunch and dinner, but otherwise you’ll be asked to buy bottles.
Absolutely recommend it.
- William Tuke (10/5): We had the most beautiful week loved the staff they would do anything for you and was so happy.and w - Fabulous breakfast. All the meals were really good -loved all the fruit that was offered at each meal. My only complaint was at the very end of both beach was quite a lot of rubbish, especially outside the village right at the fire rocks on the very south side. But apart from that everything was really clean and lovely.
- Maiakawanakaulani (10/5): -
- Emily (10/5): Right at Home in the Yasawa Islands! - Waya Lailai Eco Haven was the perfect place for us to stay during our first few days in Fiji. We felt instantly welcomed by the staff, from the moment our driver picked us up from the Nadi airport through to when the staff showed us to our bure. During our stay, we enjoyed a guided snorkeling trip, a guided village visit, and a guided hike, as well as delicious, plentiful, nutritious meals. Highly recommend. More evening activities, like organized games or stargazing or beach walks or something.
- Max (10/5): You must go just for the staff! - THE STAFF Personally the lack of hot water but this shouldn’t put you off as it really is amazing!
- maelys (10/5): -
- Justin (10/5): -
- Mahaut (10/5): We were in the dormitory, it was really nice and clean with an incredible view on the ocean and on the mountains. - The accommodation was clean and nice and the staff very kind, the food was good.
- Amanda (8/5): Great place, relaxing - Great meals, great location, things to do if you choose
- Junes (9/5): -
- Timothy (10/5): Very Relaxing. Wonderful Meals. Great Staff. Enjoyed the Interaction with the Other Guests. - I had a wonderful stay at Waya Lailai Eco Haven. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The meals were amazing. And I met some wonderful folks from all over the globe. The family style seating at meal and tea time encouraged the guests to get acquainted, which I enjoyed as a solo traveler. And I read the reviews prior to booking, so was fully aware of the resort's rustic attributes. If you're looking for luxury, A/C, hot water, and decent WiFi, this is not the place for you. This is not a negative, just an FYI of something I was not aware of prior to my arrival at the Waya Lailai Eco Haven: Sunday is a quiet day, meaning there are no organized activities scheduled for that day. It didn't bother me; in fact, Sunday is special because the resort's guests are invited to attend the morning church service in the neighboring village. It was very enjoyable; highly recommended!
- Corrine (10/5): Wonderful experience. Authentic family style resort. - The welcome from the villagers who run this resort can’t be beat. The music with every meal is absolutely amazing. We appreciated visiting the local village and school as well as the amazing reef shark snorkel. The corals just off the beach are the most amazing I’ve ever seen. A real eco friendly family experience.
- Waleed (10/5): Beautiful people, beautiful island - Thank you everyone at Waya Lailaia for making our visit so special. They genuinely cared about all of our family and went above and beyond to support and show love for the children especially our baby. There is no better opportunity to see true Fijian life, food is plentiful and the snorkelling/diving is the best I have ever seen. You won’t regret booking. N/a
- Sarah (8/5): -
- Oscar (10/5): - Comfy place, great views and a beautiful experience to stay at this eco resort, the food was amazing and the staff was great
- Jackie (9/5): Incredible, authentic stay in Wayasewa Island! - The most perfect stay if you are after the true Fiji experience. Absolutely blown away by the care for their guests to ensure we have a memorable stay. We enjoyed seeing the insight the local village and the church service. The hike to the top of the mountain above the accommodation was so much fun! The buffet meals were super tasty and filling too. Limited wifi (not a huge issue) and cold showers.
- Diego (7/5): Beautiful place and nice snorkeling - Wayaseva island is majestic. As soon as I arrived I was in shock by the island and surroundings. Beach is beautiful. Buré nice and spacious. Friendly staff. Food was good. Great snorkeling. Big drop off with nice reef. Beach is full of rocks. You need to wait for high tide otherwise you need a kayak to reach out the sandy bottom.
