Guest Reviews
- Julia P From Sydney Australia (8/5): cosy quaint and cute will definitely stay again! - The B&B was cute and comfortable, away from the main road in a complex so very quiet! Totally a non hotel experience cosy, quaint and creaky in all the right ways! Has a fridge and mini oven and microwave and washing machine as well as a sitting room nook so great for a long term stay! Very cool with efficient air-conditioning! I was in Shanghai during the humid summer so a cool quiet rom was a welcome relief! The directions were only provided in Chinese even though I requested them in English- and through We Chat, so we could not translate them easily. When checking I we got hopelessly lost and when we finally found the right complex we were wandering around- finally we found a person who spoke English and Chinese and was able to call the host. It was late and after a flight and was very stressful!
- Julia P From Sydney Australia (9/5): Quaint quirky old world style and comfort, my second stay here - Quaint quirky old world style and comfort, my second stay here and I will book it from now on every time I am in Shanghai. Quiet, clean great amenities including a washing machine! Great area with loads to do nearby! direction instructions need improvement as it is an out of the way location,
- Robert (3/5): Would not stay here again - Difficult to use instructions to find the location. Airconditioning leaked water after running for three hours so could not be run overnight. Neighbours having extremely heated argument right outside window for hours at a time.
- Alexandre (8/5): nice room, great location, but please check the details - the room seems to be part of a bigger apartment that was split into several parts (once you enter what seems to be the main door of the former apartment, you still need to use an electronic key to unlock the room door). the building is part of a residential block with interesting architecture (my guess is that it was built in the 1940s). the room is on the ground/first floor and has a nice bow window. the location is perfect, a trendy area with lots of bars and restaurants.
overall i was very happy with my stay, after having gone through the hustle of finding the room (see below). the building is not easy to find; once you find it, you need to locate the key box that is locked with a 4-digit code; there you find two keys (one for the building and another one for the apartment door); finally there is 6-digit code for the room door. luckily i stumbled across a very nice Chinese man in the street who kindly accompanied me all the way to the room. please note that the room is not attended. my Chinese friend kindly contacted the owner, who then replied with an explanatory video in Chinese. also please note that the room is not prepaid and you need to use a Chinese payment system, such as Alipay. i think for domestic tourists this room is perfect choice, but for foreigners it may not be very convenient (unless you speak Chinese and have a Chinese payment system)
