Guest Reviews
- Procter (10/5): - We loved the bush location near the water. The separate bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and outdoor firepit pavilions accessed by wooden walkways made this a different holiday experience, even in the inclement weather.
- Libby (10/5): A perfect place for 2 - This is a wonderfully relaxing place to stay on Bruny Island, for one or 2 people. Kaoru is a small and cosy accommodation option, with 3 small separate pods on a deck facing the channel. Facilities are clean and all amenities are provided for self catering. Atsuko is a friendly and generous host. Nothing! Although the thoughtful bathrobes were on the small side for bigger bodies...
- Annette (9/5): Beautiful natural environment with comfortable and spotless accommodation. - Stunning location right on the channel so sunsets magnificent.
Interesting arrangement of separate living areas. Glad it was not freezing as was best to be able to spend time outside. So many little nooks and crannies to sit and relax.
Eco facilities which worked well. Hosts super accommodating with extras we needed and gave us introductions on how to use the spaces. Surrounded by Nature at its best! A distance to cart things to room from car.
- Liesl (10/5): We had a lovely stay. We had everything we needed and wanted. - The quiet location and cleanliness.
- Michael (10/5): - Very stylish Japanese style accommodation. Close to nature. Lovely views. Outdoor shower
- Debbie (10/5): How’s the serenity - It was a beautiful quiet modern little place, with lots of wildlife & lovely views Nothing
- Avril (9/5): - So quaint
Everything was thought of and so well laid out
Absolutely perfect
- PICRINA (10/5): Quirky, different, creative… a type of glam camping is how I would describe the accomodation - Surrounds, gods country!!
relaxing, peaceful, wildlife, what a way to live!! It’s like a retreat Bed a bit small
- Terry (10/5): Tony the host was great. Next time we go to Bruny Island we will definitely be staying here again. - Everything. Great place Nothing. Fantastic venue
- Steve (10/5): Great place to stay for a relaxing break. - It is a wonderful property very quiet & right on the waterfront. Surrounded by bush & wildlife. The hosts Atsuko & Tony were friendly and accommodating. Nothing really
- Katrina (10/5): Beautiful location and lovely unique property. V nice host -
- Craig (10/5): My partner said it was her favorite place in Tasmania, and she did not want to leave. - Hot shower outside. The fire pit was all set up and we enjoyed a wine with the fire going and the view over the bay.
- Mark (10/5): - Beautiful location, peaceful and close enough base for day trips There was nothing to dislike
- Malamati (Toula) (10/5): Quirky and fabulous! - The location was fabulous - I felt quite privileged to be in this serene, sea-side setting, with native roos coming by. Even though the rooms were all separate, they were all beautifully appointed, spotlessly clean and connected by gorgeous timber decking. The fire pit area and the outdoor shower were great.
- Michele (10/5): - Location and outlook are amazing. The little cabins are cute and cosy. We especially liked sitting at the kitchen bench and looking out over the water. The coffee pod machine was an unexpected treat! We had visits from multiple wallabies in the mornings and evenings.
- janine (10/5): Excellent - No breakfast
Stunning location Bed was comfortable but i would have liked bedding suitable to cold weather despite the elec blanket
A hairdryer i missed
Heating in each room preferable as i had to carry the heater from bedroom to kitchen to bathroom in the cold snd wet weather to preheat each room in order to feel comfortable
A toilet roll in case more required than what was on holder considering i stayed 4 days
Possibly slip on shoes eg crocs for overnight loo visit etc when raining so as i don't need to put on proper shoes ea time and a brolly in the bedrm also
- Tom (10/5): - Picturesque scenery, fantastic layout and design, secluded outdoor setting, amazing host. Nothing
- Ludovic (10/5): Very relaxing few days - Very quiet, remote. Very clean. Quirky design. Main bed is a bit small otherwise perfect.
- Samantha (10/5): -
- Daniela (10/5): - Great location. Great view and peaceful site. Great facilities but separate rooms so do need to go out but not too far to bathroom.
- Carol (9/5): - Awesome location and facilities location of the toilet at night.
- Katrina (10/5): This accomodation was so peaceful and felt secluded yet it’s only a very short drive back to town. I loved the ocean vie -
- Kandoo (9/5): -
- Trevor (8/5): We enjoyed the privacy of the location, the relaxed vibe of the place. Unique accomm. - Beautiful location right on the beach. Well appointed accomm and the hosts met us and very friendly. Very relaxed atmosphere and secluded. A heater needed in Bathroom. No exhaust fan in kitchen for cooking smells. The major concern is the step that is down to the deck between bed & kitchen is not marked. I fell down it while looking at the sunset. Definitely needs a yellow strip or bunnings type black and red fixed hazard strip.
- Possum (10/5): South Bruny magic. - The accommodation was amazing, the location overlooking the water was magic. The host was lovely and ensured I had everything I needed. Fantastic 3 nights. Recommend this spot. Couldn't find a thing to fault.
- Margo (9/5): - Fantastic location with opportunity to BBQ and outside areas to eat (unfortunately the October weather didn't allow this for us) Owners available for questions and tips
- Boris (9/5): Very unique place to relax and enjoy sunsets and starry nights - Fantastic location, wonderful host, unique setup with 3 different “houses” for sleeping, kitchen and bathroom. Outdoor shower is great. There is also a fireplace to enjoy a wonderful sundowner. There is only one induction which makes it a bit difficult to cook dishes in parallel. If it is cold/rainy, going to the kitchen/bathroom is a small challenge (umbrellas are provided 😊)
- Sarah (10/5): One of the best places we’ve stayed, lovely hosts, can’t wait to return. - A delightful place, absolute waterfront. Start the day with an outdoor shower, amazing views, and end the day with a glass of local wine or beer by the fire pit, listening to the sea. Three “pods”, sitting/sleeping, kitchen and bathroom, immaculate and well equipped.
- Marieka (10/5): Exceptional -
- Geoff (10/5): Quiet retreat - Kaoru is quiet, discreet, centrally located on the island. The hosts are friendly, available, responsive but also invisible. Loved the proximity to water, outside sitting area and fire pit.
- Eric (10/5): We loved the accommodation and the location, it had great views - Quiet location with awesome views Nothing
- Nicola (10/5): Don’t miss the opportunity to stay here… we enjoyed a glass of wine by the fire and jumped into the outdoor shower at su - Unique waterfront accommodation
- William (8/5): Good - Location. Very friendly. Very clean and bed comfortable. Wonderful in summer for us. Very unique. I did like the set up. It did not have a microwave. Essential for travelling couples. The bathroom in a different building away from the bedroom could be a bit or a problem for some.
- Luke (10/5): Exceptional -
- Monique (8/5): Great spot, would definitely recommend. It’s away from the business of the main road which runs throughout the islan. -
- Avril (10/5): Hidden Gem on Bruny Island - Such a quirky little gem, with its various spaces to grab a sunset drink, have a fire, or even an outside shower. The hosts were so thoughtful and generous ❤️
- Lance (10/5): Ideal property to enjoy some rest and relaxation. - Very comfortable & well appointed. Hosts were excellent.
- Borrell (9/5): Superb -
- Ann (9/5): Superb - Beautiful setting, right overlooking the water with wallabies hopping by. Very well equipped kitchen with thoughtful items provided to make it easy to prepare food. Interesting concept of separate bedroom kitchen and bathroom buildings. Bed a bit short and small. Internet was a bit slow at times.
- James (10/5): A beautiful and tranquil break from the bustle of life - The property is well located overlooking the channel. The rooms integrate seamlessly with the garden and bush outside. The hosts were friendly and helpful, while still being really respectful of our privacy.
- Monica (9/5): A lovely restful stay in a beautiful location with friendly helpful hosts - Beautiful quiet location, could hear the waves on the shore, short track to the pebbly shore. Easy access and excellent communication with hosts. Very comfortable bed and various pillow options. Hot water in outdoor shower (as well as very spacious indoor shower). Small and functional kitchen with good quality basic pantry items, hot plate and saucepans/frypans and outdoor BBQ. No microwave. Bedroom, kitchen and bathroom were separate and getting from one to another would be exposed in bad weather (umbrellas are provided).
- Kati (10/5): Wonderful, fantastic, unique! Cottage vibes right by the sea, amazing location - Just book it, NOW! This place is out of this world. It exceeded all our expectations. Tony and Atsuko are the kindest and most welcoming and hospitable hosts one could ask for. The property is gorgeous and right by the sea. You have everything you might dream of - an outdoor fireplace, outdoor WARM shower with sea view!!!!, comfortable indoor shower and toilet, nice and well equipped kitchen and barbecue, terrace with sea view, very very comfortable bed. Lots of things to do close by, very central spot to explore southern Bruny. Would return anytime! Many thanks for everything. P.S. And the dogs are the cutest!
- Elyse (10/5): Unique Bushland private accommodation On Bruny Island - Our temporary residence on Bruny Island, Tasmania is sooo cool! Set in bushland with very, very little impact on the natural environment and beautiful views of the water, it was built by hand by the owners and obviously a lot of love went into it! It consists of separate little cabins for each living area, instead of one building with several rooms. There's a cabin for the bedroom, the kitchen and the bathroom as well as a lovely outdoor bbq area, covered firepit area and an outdoor shower. It was SO good having a nice hot shower with a beautiful view last night - it's still full light at 8:00pm here! The owners are lovely as well and bought us fresh home cooked bread this morning, which was delicious! No issues
- Geoff (10/5): Unique and extremely comfortable stay overlooking the ocean with fabulous sunset views - Atsuko and Tony are delightful and considerate hosts who have created a lovely self contained stay comprising three separate pavilions across a large deck area . The bedroom/living pavilion , the kitchen pavilion and the deck all have wonderful views across to the mouth of the Huon river . In addition there is a lovely enclosed bathroom pavilion with shower, toilet and basin at the end of the deck. Everything is extremely comfortable, stylishly finished and with all you need to cook simple meals in the kitchen or barbecue on the deck. The accomodation is well separated from the main house, very private and surrounded by their extensive vegetable garden to the rear and pretty native gardens out front. An outdoor shower with hot and cold water as well as a fire pit which can be enjoyed from undercover complete the experience. Altogether a wonderful stay. Nothing at all but worth noting this property would be very difficult for those with significant mobility issues due to the access stairs deck on different levels and soft bark access path around the main garden and house.
- Kim (10/5): We loved our stay and would highly recommend. Fresh bread and jam was amazing. - Great location, very clean with nice extra touches. Lovely host. Nothing
- John (6/5): Pleasant - Nice spot beside the ocean but very isolated. The isolation, the external bathroom down stairs which did not suit our age of traveller.
- Simon (9/5): This is a lovely place and the hosts are very hospitable - Beautifully designed
- James (7/5): Lovely spot, great hosts, let down by outdoor bathroom and kitchen - Kaoru is in a beautiful place, right by the water. The hosts are kind and the place was clean and the facilities were really good. Atsuko made us beautiful sourdough. We were disappointed that the bathroom and kitchen were separate to the bedroom. To go to the toilet you had to walk 10 metres, downstairs and through a gate in the dark. The second night it rained heavily which meant doing that in the dark and rain. It would be great also if there were a lounge area looking on to the view. The couch is in a corner of the bedroom which doesn't look out the window. Being Bruny there is often a wind so it would have been nice to have that view but protected from the weather.
- Emily (10/5): Trip and accommodation was great! - Its was perfect, super central to everything on the island and the hosts were very welcoming and lovely. There wasn’t anything we didn’t like.
- Nevalagi (10/5): DIAMOND IN THE RUFF - very unexpected set up,
The hosts were beautiful, very accommodating,
loved every minute of our stay
Thank you again to
Ashika and Tony 2 nights stay was abit short
- Rosslyn (1/5): Check the ad, as it's not a house as stated. - I was met by host in town, as the property is very hidden in the bush surrounds. My money was returned. I did not stay here, as it was far from what it was advertised to be. Yes it was lovely, and so was the host. But it states it's a one-bedroom house, no it's not. Please look at the pictures in the ad. Each room is separated by a walkway/deck, with steps, the only house there is the hosts, you are around the back facing the very cold weather, with an outside bathroom and kitchen. You are also told the wildlife come in during the night. Not ideal for some.
- Abigail (9/5): Superb - Fabulous location. Private outdoor hot shower with a beautiful view whilst you shower. Indoor outdoor living at its finest. Ingeniously designed separate kitchen room, bedroom and bathroom all connected by decking.
- Tom (10/5): Exceptional -
- Angela (10/5): Beautiful place to stay, hosts friendly and so accommodating. Fresh baked bread was delicious! Thanks Atsuko and Tony!! - Loved everything about the property. Hosts were extremely helpful and kind! Nothing.
- Lisbeth (10/5): excellent place, and lovely hosts -
- England (8/5): Very good -
- Maddie (9/5): If you’re looking for a relaxing retreat with beautiful surroundings this is the place for you! - The hosts were lovely and had lots of handy information available, always available if necessary and sought to make sure I felt comfortable during my stay. It was lovely, can’t complain
- Ellie (10/5): The perfect stay! - Atsuko and Tony were exceptional hosts - they helped us bring our belongings in and also with setting up the fire pit for our BBQ evening. Atsuko even left us freshly made bread which was delicious! The room, kitchen and bathroom were all very clean and comfortable, and well stocked. The location is perfect which amazing sunset views. Nothing- everything was great!
- Shelley (10/5): Absolutely stunning!! This is a unique wee place to sit back and admire the view and let the sound of the sea take you - We loved everything! Our hosts were super friendly. The property was the most epic set up. Cosy bedroom/living room. Kitchen gad everything including bbq on the deck and breakfast bar with an outstanding view. Bathroom was spotless. Loved our stay, even had some kangaroos pay a visit. We didnt like leaving but hey it had to be done!
- Jackie (9/5): A relaxed few days in a lovely location - The location near the water was idyllic, easy driving to the rest of the island. It was beautiful and quiet. We loved the outdoor shower overlooking the bushland and the water. Even though it wasn’t cold when we were there we loved sitting around the outside fire. The cabins ( bedroom, kitchen and bathroom) were styled beautifully with lovely linen and towels, the bed was super comfortable.
Our hosts made us fresh bread on our arrival and bought us freshly picked blueberries from a local farm. We enjoyed getting to know them over a lovely bottle of wine on our last night complete with their furry friends Dennis & Rosie 🤩 There wasnt anything we didnt like about it. I did let our hosts know that it was a little hard to see the sign for the turn off..
It may not suit couples who want an ensuite as the kitchen and bathroom are both seperate little cabins connected by the deck.
- Hasanthi (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect place for nature lovers. Environmental friendly accommodation with energy saving appliances. Welcoming environment created by a lovely host.
- Helen (8/5): Very good -
- Holly (10/5): Magical! - What a special place! We had a wonderful time exploring the beach and being immersed in nature. The view from the breakfast bar was wonderful, we could have stayed a longer! The hot outdoor shower was a highlight! The scenic walk to the pub is also a must. Atsuko and Tony were wonderful hosts with lots of tips on local knowledge.
- Ji (10/5): Exceptional - The quite peacefull and serene setting,,the closnest to the water,
