Guest Reviews
- Jeremy (10/5): - Wonderful haven in a chaotic city. Bar and restaurant on site, friendly staff, and a nice pool area.
- Paul (10/5): Fantastic - Great security, and value for money based on central location in Douala. Not applicable
- filip (9/5): Wonderful hotel with large pool and good restaurant in the heart of Douala - I highly recommend this place! Large rooms with well-functioning AC. Swimming pool is great, and the restaurant. Extraordinarily friendly staff. And a good price-quality ratio at that. Minor details: bathroom could use a small upgrade, mattress a bit hard for my taste (idem the pillow).

- Martin (10/5): Great - It's a small oasis in the middle of Douala. Great food, awesome courtyard, perfect location.
- Andre James (8/5): - joli emplacement et cadre chaleureux

- Daniel JG (8/5): - La zona del jardín y la piscina es un oasis en medio del caos de la ciudad Habitaciones con mobiliario antiguo

- Victor (8/5): - Good restaurant. Solid ac. Ok pool A Little buggy on the grounds and in the rooms.

- Blanca (4/5): I got the unlucky room with no mosquito net and not working AC - Good location, very close to the airport, and nice patio. Good food and pricing at the restaurant. The aircon in my room did not work and there was no mosquito net (this was not the case at all for my colleague though). I only realised this after the reception was already closed so I had a horrible night. Wifi should be improved

- Charl (8/5): Very good - Very homely feeling . Food very nice and staff beyond friendly ! Very nice stay.
- Alexandra (8/5): Welcoming vibe , great location, charming courtyard - Reasonable room, Good breakfast buffet, very friendly staff, good food, lovely interior courtyard. Good location. The shower was so-so. I know the unstable electricity can't be helped but some of the fixtures were also not in great repair. It would be great to have some pamphlets or materials about the neighborhood, places to visit etc... to help guide a newbie visitor.
- Barbara (7/5): This was definitely one of the most beautiful experiences. - The breakfast outside was excellent in this wonderful surrounding, in a beautiful and nicely kept garden with corteous waitresses.
The whole location had a wonderful atmosphere in accordance with the aim of the "Seemen's Mission". A wonderful picture galery in staircases about the live of seamen leads to a better understanding of this profession. When looking through the palm trees in the garden you could see the harbour and the containers.
A beautiful swimming-pool was definitely an encore. And the family that runs the hotel is extraordinary nice and made us feel very welcome. Thank you for an unforgettable stay in Douala / Akwa /Cameroon. There is nothing to mention.
- Bro (5/5): Passable - Friendly staff. They made a plan when arrived at 2am due to flight cancelation.
Walking distance to Spar Hard pillows. A little old fashion
- Nicanor (8/5): Very good -
- Hadrien (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gregor (10/5): Haven of peace - Haven of peace in the middle of a chaotic city. Garden offers a lot of corners where you can quitely work. The swimming pool is good size for swimming. Staff very friendly.
- Carol (9/5): Superb -
- Matthias (6/5): Convenient stopover in Douala - The nice thing about Foyer du Marin is its location. A lot of places are actually in walking distance, and it isn't far from the airport. The outside area with its lush and green garden, the swimming pool and the restaurant area are quite pleasant. I have to mention that the place is not worth the money you pay for. The rooms lack any welcoming atmosphere, everything is very functional nothing more, they are clean, but no warm lights, no nice cushions or fabrics. And what I don't understand is, that the breakfast is not included in the price for the room. Furthermore, the options for breakfast are very limited and the portions are small (one roll, one pack of butter and a bit of marmalade, plus some fruits). Maybe that's how it is in Cameroon, but I expected a bit more especially when you think a normal portioned breakfast is included in the hotel price and some welcoming atmosphere would be a standard.
- Benoy (8/5): Very good -
