Tessied (2/5): This is a scam, not a legit business. Subletting aparts, not a hotel, superunfriendly, no service - The apartment’s nothing special, just a standard studio like hundreds of others in KL. it’s got a kitchen, a shower, and the bare minimum in terms of comfort. the only real plus is that there’s a washing machine. The apartment doesn’t really have a great view of KL, the towers, the spire, all the stuff you’d want to see is on the other side of the building. here, you’re just looking at concrete high-rises and an overpass. First, you need to realise this isn’t a hotel at all, just a sublet apartment run by immigrants who have no connection to Malaysia. It’s most likely illegal, which is why they avoid reception. There are cameras. They push all comms to WhatsApp, otherwise you can’t check in. Took 200 ringgit cash deposit, supposedly for the key. One guy messaged via Booking, another came out in trackies and thongs, almost in pyjamas. He didn’t look like any kind of hotel staff. Honestly, he looked like some gangster from the favelas.. He looked like a dangerous person, like someone who would’ve started a fight if there hadn’t been cameras. I waited 45 minutes. It wasn’t just me calling, another host and a girl who tried to help were trying too. He ignored us at first, then replied slowly, then stalled for 10 more minutes and told me to come to the lifts. RefusedMeet at reception. Dropped the key on a table, snapped a photo of my passport and phone for no reason, took the deposit and left without a word. On checkout he inspected the place like he might not return the money but did, probably because I warned him I knew these scams and the flat was spotless. I’d photographed all the flaws in advance. The unit’s typical for KL, no issues with it, the issue is the people. The 9.5 rating is fake. They’re scamming guests and Booking. Towels folded like swans, cheap plastic flowers and cutlery on the table to fake some kind of service. But there is no service. No instructions for lights, aircon or washing machine. In the morning I had to message him myself and arrange the meeting to get the deposit back. All you need to understand, this is not a hotel, it’s a scam. Not a proper business, just two shady guys trying to make money off a sublet. No idea what Booking.com is doing... It’s unsafe. And btw, there’s no real KL view either, just some high-rises and an overpass..
