• Ruth (10/5): Clean, friendly and comfortable hostel in a good location - This is a brilliant, clean and friendly hostel. Our room was fabulous - comfy bed, clean shower room, heated toilet seat! Its a great location - a nice walk to the lake and surrounded by shops. The metro isnt too far either so getting too and from the train station was easy. It was a great place to stay in China. It was all great.

• Katrina (8/5): Great location and nice hostel - Great location and a nice hostel. The room has a window that opens for fresh air, and laundry facilities are available. The only downside is the downstairs store requires a special app with a QR code to buy anything, but the app didn't work properly — it kept pushing a coupon purchase and wouldn't let me buy anything without it. I asked staff for help on March 14, but they couldn't resolve it, and I was too tired to go out and find food elsewhere. The downstairs store's app was broken and staff couldn't help when I needed food on March 14.
• Craig (9/5): Very good hostel, cozy and comfortable with great staff and facilities. - Has every facilities I needed during my stay including cafe and washing machines etc. I was in a shared dorm but it was only 4 of us which is much better and more peaceful than larger dorm rooms 😅. There was only a couple of toilets for all the men in the dorms but it didn’t seem to be an issue The location was not the best, felt a little out of the way. Metro was only a 10-15min walk most the time. But it was right next door to luckin coffee which is always a good thing

• Maia (5/5): Great price, and nice common areas, but I won’t stay again. - The common spaces for working and eating are great! And the staff were all friendly. Also liked the location. My main concern is that in the middle of the night, I woke up with various bites on me. I had a capsule room which I didn’t realize was in a shared hallway with 19 other capsules, all separated by private curtains (looks like there used to be doors, but it’s now just curtains). This meant that there was a fair amount of noise transfer with the main entry door opening and closing, with the other capsule residents opening the main doorway at night. I stayed on a Tuesday night, so it wasn’t necessarily a party night. Finally, I think the location could use more bathrooms for the number of beds - there was a wait for the showers at night, and the bathrooms not always clean.

• Chi Ching (8/5): 基本上能对厕所没有很大的要求都能住得很舒服 - 地理位置很好，步行8分钟就是地铁站，往龙翔桥方向也只需25分钟。 淋浴间有异味，基本上每间都是有同样的问题，防水浴帘有点脏。卧室是有窗户的但是近来杭州时常下雨，窗户有漏水的情况。还有就是住客本身也需要注意维护公共卫生，因为住的是多人住宿，工作人员也提醒过不能穿室外的鞋子进去需要换拖鞋，但还是有两名舍友穿鞋子进房间弄得地上很脏，食物丢房里的垃圾桶，半夜没经过商量或询问直接把房内空调关了我连续好几天被闷得呼吸困难热醒了。这些我觉得不是住青旅就能被推脱说住青旅就该忍受的这纯属素质问题。

• Chom (8/5): Worth the money for solo traveler. - The hostel is clean, smell good. Staffs are very nice. Bed and toilet is comfortable. Air conditioning is turn on all time. The hostel is near bakery shop, restaurant and grocery store. Toilet is a little bit far from room but it depends on what the location of your room.
• Luke (9/5): - Instructions were given on how to get to the hostel. This was my third Desti Youth Park Hostel experience (first was Chengdu and second was Suzhou) and the standard is pretty consistent - generally a clean place with big lockers. However, the instructions weren't clear enough to me (and at least for someone else that I saw as I left the hostel) as the hostel was in a big building and it was somewhere in the middle to last third of the building. I was a bit confused when I first reached the building (I walked from Shentangqiao MRT) because I saw another youth hostel and the address/info on Booking.com didn't state which part of the block they were in so I walked around trying to find it before I texted the staff to ask. For the Suzhou branch, they showed photos of how to get from the MRT although I don't think there is a need to show the entire route from the MRT cos it was quite a straight route along the road. Maybe just some photos and instructions to clarify that they need to walk a bit further when they first reach the building. Other than that, the pillow was way too soft and I had to fold it into half to provide better support.

• KEVIN (10/5): Hostel better than most hotels I've stayed at (and cheaper) - My room was nicer than most hotels rooms I have stayed at. I booked a private room, A04. Comfortable bed, huge window with lots of natural light (but with blackout curtains), air conditioning, comfortable bathroom which did not feel cramped at all. The shower cubicle was huge and had luxury finishes. Some other features which surprised me, for a hostel room: - high quality finishes: maybe depends on personal taste, but I found the beech wood finishes giving off a clean and modern feeling, combined with high ceilings, an airy sense of space. - recessed lighting above the bed; with a backlit light strip behind the headboard. - a bathroom mirror with perimeter lighting; activated by a touch power button. - a Japanese style toilet!!! Complete with bidet function. - huge mirror at the entrance - integrated desk (not just a small desk which looks like an afterthought) - Powerpoints everywhere, including USB ports The air-conditioning was effective - I had to raise the temperature to a comfortable level for myself; which is welcome when visiting in summer, when a walk down the street results in being drenched in sweat. I was initially concerned with the lack of hanging space for wardrobe, but discovered that there are integrated hanging hooks which lever off the wall!!! There are 33 such panels in total, so you won't run out of hanging space. Maybe suggest bringing clothes hangers though as there was only one in the room. Oh, and the staff are delightful - they made an effort to speak English with me, despite their limited command of the language. Twice they helped me order food through Meituan, which was a game changer. On check in, I was shown personally to my room by a member of staff. This bears a stark contrast to hostels mainly run by unpaid workers, from whom even the most basic service can be hard earned. Dayin plan to open two more hostels - I can see why - it's a very professional operation. Nothing to say here. Maybe the location could be a bit more convenient, but that depends on what you're interested in being close to. The entrance was initially hard to find - it is on the main road, and has very large windows, so maybe that's just me. It's the large glass door at ground level, to the left of the two stone lions and SPA, if that helps future travelers.

When I went to the showers, there was a strong smell of urine. Also, the area between the reception and the elevator felt a bit messy…location so convenient!

Windowless dorm and couldn’t work out the ac as everything was in Chinese (however I could have asked )

• Marietta (10/5): Exceptional - We usually stay in hostels when we travel around Europe, so we have quite a bit of experience – but this hostel in Hangzhou exceeded all our expectations! Its location, cleanliness, and overall quality are far better than what we’re used to in European hostels. Everything was spotless and well maintained, and the surroundings were peaceful and beautiful. The staff were exceptionally kind and helpful. One small note – although they didn’t speak English, this wasn’t a problem at all. We still managed to communicate perfectly, and they went out of their way to assist us whenever we needed help. Highly recommended – this has been one of the best hostel experiences we’ve ever had!

The reception offered many ideas for things to do in the surrounding areas, the common areas were very nice and provided with a small fridge to buy snacks and quick meals at any time of the day. The rooms were small but perfect, with comfy beds, private bathrooms with everything you need, and huge windows. 10/10, I'd definitely come back! Best stay in China.

• Marika (9/5): My stay was very pleasant and I would definitely choose this chain of hotel when visiting china - The accommodation exceeded my expectations. Help was available upon request. I was very pleased with the cultural space on floor #2. Being a postgrad student and having that quiet space to write my thesis between vacation was well needed. My room wasn't cleaned (eg sweep or mopped) even though I spent over 12 days at the accommodation. Not sure if the policy for hostel is different to that of an actually hotel.

• Chiara (7/5): Cheap and good value - The staff was super nice and the area is good. Super cheap! The common rooms are cool and the bed is good. The bathroom is always wet and a bit smelly. There’s not enough space to store your things when showering and it’s complicated to shower comfortably.

• Hannah (9/5): Very comfortable stay with good access to all areas of Hangzhou - Good size room, plenty of space for luggage. The bed was very comfortable with good quality privacy curtains, individual light, socket, table and plenty of hooks. The upper bed is sturdy so you are not disturbed when someone is climbing the ladder. The locker is useful too and a good size. They provide you with a towel that is a good size. The laundry is super cheap and easy to pay for with alipay. The bathroom is well stocked always and maintained. I liked that they provide a toilet seat sanitizer in the cubicle. The subway is just 5-7 minutes walk away, including the line directly to/from the airport, and there is a coffee place and convenience store almost next door. There was no kitchen facility and sometimes the corridors smelled like cigarettes, but there are signs for no smoking so perhaps it was coming up through the windows or something.

• Duncan (6/5): Pleasant - Great location near West Lake (西湖） Not a social vibe at all. Just a bunch of Chinese students on phones in the lobby/study areas. Pretty boring. Also the shower/bathroom areas are pretty gross. Constantly someone coughing up a lung in the shower. The way the floor plan is set up makes it really hard to cultivate a cohesive atmosphere for solo travelers to meet each other.
• Lauren (9/5): Our second Desti-Youth stay - another great location! - Clean, spacious room with a modern feel - definitely didn’t feel like we were staying in a hostel (we had a private double room with an ensuite). Nice social areas although we didn’t get much time to use them. Friendly staff. Free water dispenser in reception to fill up bottles. Laundry room available to use for a small fee. Check in process was not super smooth - the member of staff assisting us took over an hour to check our passports before asking us to wait for his colleague. Also were told takeaway breakfast would be available early as we needed to check out before it was being served and there was no one on there to help other than two cleaners.

I was only there for one night and arrived late so can’t really say anything more I was only here for one night. I arrived late and went to the airport late as well.

You can get to nearby attractions such as West Lake, Hefang street easily via metro ( about 20- 40 mins). i arrived during Spring Festival so the Hostel provide 2 free breakfast during my stay. Definitely a good choice for leisure Maybe they have too many guest so the toilet is a little bit smelly. And 2 cleaning staff members argued in loud voice on my 2nd day.

The staff provided attentive service and promptly offered assistance whenever needed. I will definitely come back.
