• Rafael (9/5): Charming cave in Artenara - It’s not just a stay, it’s an experience! The rooms are big and everything feels very rustic. It’s a cave after all! The kitchen is cosy and well-equipped. There are two bedrooms, one which connects to the kitchen, and a bigger, separate one. The outdoor area seems very pleasant in summer time, with garden table under a tree and outdoor shower. The host is very responsive. There is a convenient bakery/supermarket nearby. Mind that the bathroom is “outside”, where it can get cold during winter season. Since it’s a cave, WiFi signal has some trouble reaching one of the bedrooms.

• Antoine (1/5): À fuir - Séjour absolument scandaleux. Nous avons attendu plus de deux heures sans aucune réponse du propriétaire pour obtenir des informations essentielles : adresse exacte et code de la boîte à clés. Aucun message, aucun appel, aucun suivi. Une absence totale de professionnalisme. Face à ce silence, nous avons dû entamer une procédure de relogement avec Booking, ce qui nous a encore fait perdre 45 minutes supplémentaires. Et comme par hasard, à 10 minutes de la finalisation de cette procédure, le propriétaire se manifeste enfin… sans la moindre excuse. Inacceptable. Résultat : à cause de ce retard inadmissible, nous n’avons pas pu nous organiser. Tous les commerces et restaurants étaient fermés. Nous avons même fait une heure de route aller-retour pour tenter de trouver un endroit où manger — en vain. Aucun repas, rien pour le petit déjeuner. Une expérience exécrable du début à la fin. Manque total de communication, irrespect du client et conséquences très concrètes sur notre séjour. À fuir absolument.

• Angela (4/5): Deludente - Posizione - causa maltempo nella zona (strade franate) abbiamo chiesto al Host di cancellare la prenotazione. Non ci ha mai risposto. Non era suo diritto cancellare la prenotazione ma almeno darci una risposta per organizzarci. - nei giorni che eravamo lì ha piovuto molto e la struttura era completamente allagata perché l’acqua penetrava dalla roccia -l’acqua calda durava poco (non sufficiente per la doccia di due persone) e mancava il phone - la struttura era molto fredda e non c’e possibilità per scaldarsi. C’erano solo delle coperte aggiuntive
• Justin (10/5): Authentic cave living, great hiking, and incredible cloud-level views with friendly local services - Location was exceptional, it's not often in life you get to say you got to live in a cave. Hosts were friendly, and special shout out to the caretaker was friendly and helped with any problems. Had 3 small shops for groceries, Spar, Udaco and Tamadaba. Not a massive selection of food, but had good quality cheese, deli meats and bread. And some basics like, fruit, veg, eggs and pasta. Quite a few lunch time restaurants and a free cave museum to look around. Rest of the town had good view points for scenic surroundings. If you like hiking, this place is a hikers dream. Also in the evening you can touch the clouds as the village is high enough, was truly amazing to experience. No fault of the hosts or location, but I got unlucky in my visiting time, as there was Storm Regina visiting Gran Canaria, so the place was pretty cold other than my last few days. I think an additional duvet cover would of come in handy.
• Theresa (8/5): - - tolle Lage - einmaliges Erlebnis - detaillierte Lagebeschreibung, sodass man es gut finden konnte - relativ schnelle Hilfe, als die Badezimmertür klemmte (herzlichen Dank an die Putzfrau!) - es schimmelt (es gibt Duftstäbchen dagegen, aber es riecht dadurch halt muffig plus Duft) - Türen zu Bad und Küche sind schwergängig. Die Badtür klemmte so stark, dass ich sie alleine nicht öffnen konnte. Danach hab ich das Bad nur noch mit offener Tür benutzt, um nicht in der Falle zu sitzen

• Martin (10/5): - Místo bylo absolutně úžasné a bydlení v jeskyni byl zvláštní zážitek. Měl jsem obavy, že tam bude v noci zima, ale byl jsem příjemně překvapen - bylo tam velmi příjemně. Když jsem četl recenze na toto ubytování od některých mých předchůdců, musel jsem se smát. Stížnosti na to, že v jeskyni není v kuchyni digestoř, nebo že tam nejsou okna, se mně zdály velmi komické. Zamluvili jste si jeskyni a tak ji máte, ale není se čeho bát. Byl jsem tam velmi spokojen. Jak taky jinak pod sochou Ježíše a pod rozkvetlým mandlovníkem s úžasným výhledem na vesnici Artenara a na okolní hory. Komunikace s hostitelem byla naprosto bez problémů a jeskyni jsem našel snadno. Doporučuji. Nic podstatného.
• Andrea (9/5): Lugar increible, para vivir y disfrutar unos dias magicos en pura naturaleza! - La ubicacion fantastica, vista, paz y espacios para disfrutar a tope. La cueva tiene todas las comodidades y el anfitriona muy amable. Repetiremos seguro! Booking no dejo el codigo para las llaves, llegamos de noche con lluvia, niebla y frio y no encontrabamos el sitio. Aunque las indicaciones eran bastante claras, no estaria mal un cartelito y unas luces para llegar a la puerta principal. Muy mal encontrarse con un numero de la casa diferente (13 en lugar de 12) y un nombre diferente (tres cuevitas en lugar de chieva de Hilario) cosa que ha retrasado muchisimo la entrada que consegui’ solo graçias a un taxista que conocia el sitio y literalmente nos salvo’ la vida. Recomiendo cuidar esos 2-3 detallitos porque muy graves. Todo lo demas fantastico, mejoraria solo un termo de agua mas grande y tapar la parte abierta de la puerta de la cocina!
• Tanja (7/5): Es ist ein Erlebnis - Die Lage ist schön. Man sollte unbedingt die Öffnungszeiten der Lebensmittelgeschäfte und der Restaurants und Bars beachten. Eine Übernachtung in einer Höhle ist ein Erlebnis. Es fehlte ein Föhn. Der Kontakt zum Eigentümer war sehr schleppend

Вайфай был только в спальне, совмещённый с кухней, но она была прокурена и мы не хотели из-за этого там спать, поэтому ушли спать во вторую пещеру, но там не было вайфая

• daniela (6/5): Interesting experience in a cave with “camping” feel to it - A novelty to sleep in a “cave” Quiet location above the village Nice view Probably better experience in hot weather. It was cold (end of Jan) in the evening. Bedroom/ bathroom/ kitchen are not connected, I didn’t realise what the set up was (3 cavities in the hill + a garden). Bathroom door jammed. Water pressure/ temperature is not great. Power supply is weak (we had a power cut after turning the washing machine on). No windows / visible ventilation in the sleeping space. Everything feels kind of old and used in a less attractive way.

• Lynn (10/5): En opplevelse du sent vil glemme! - Fantastisk sted, utrolig beliggenhet og en opplevelse vi ikke vil glemme. Dette må bare oppleves! Restauranter i kort gåavstand for en nydelig lunsj. Både overnattingsstedet og plassen kan anbefales. Vær oppmerksom på at det sjelden er åpent på restaurantene på kvelden.
• Kate (4/5): A unique and authentic cave house but in need of some basic upgrades and care. - Great location just a couple of minutes walk away from the centre of Artenara. The house itself was a unique stay in a cave house but lacked some basic amenities. The access path was very steep and wouldn’t be accessible for some people. Toilet ceiling was leaking onto the floor. There was minimal hot water for showers. It was a cold windy day/night and the house has no heating.
• Lise Marie (3/5): Très décevant. - Situation , cadre et originalité . Lieu recommandable simplement pour des groupes de jeunes pour faire la fête ( isolement , espace ) au pied du Christ . Précsision quant à l'accès très insuffisante : accès à pied et difficile d'autant plus acec des bagages , sol et escaliers pavés en montée , très très irréguliers . Aucun repérage des nombreuses clés . Porte de la salle de bain s'ouvrant très difficilement à coups de pieds . Pas de serviettes de bain ni savon . Pas de machine à café . Lit très inconfortable . Electricité probablement pas aux normes , fils apparents sans boîtier .Cela pourrait être très bien à condition d'être repensé et entretenu .

• Iain (6/5): 3 rustic caves in a great location in a beautiful area - Great location in a pretty town in a stunning area. It was pretty warm inside the caves (except the bathroom) despite the cold outside. It's pretty rustic, but then it's a cave so you shouldn't be too surprised about that. The instructions to find the place were OK but could be clearer. The electric went off a few times but I'd figured out to reset it before the host replied to my message. They essentially told me not to plug too many things in at once, tho I was only using the washing machine at the time. I unplugged the fridge and water heater (which are normally always plugged in of course) and it was OK after that. The host didn't seem too bothered about this inconvenience. As others have noted the bathroom is in a separate cave which isn't terribly convenient in the night. There's a massive stone jesus just up the hill from the caves so people are frequently passing to enjoy the view, making it feel less private than it otherwise would.

• CRAMBES (10/5): Excellent séjour . - Avons passé 2 nuits dans la Cuevita , nous n’avons occupè qu’une chambre . La cuisine est très bien équiquée. L’endroit est superbe et le village très interessant avec des vues magnifiques.

• Sandra (8/5): - L’originalité du lieu, une grotte aménagé… sympa. Nous y avions passé une nuit pendant que la tempête Claudia traversait l’île, nous avons très bien dormi ! Petit bémol, il faut savoir que la salle de bain et les toilettes se trouvent sur le palier. Et que la porte est ajouré, porte en fer avec un grillage. Donc pas d’isolation avec l’extérieur. Quand il y a une tempête dehors, même si l’entrée est bien abritée, il pourrait y avoir une solution pour éviter que le vent ne rentre trop à l’intérieur. Nous avons accroché comme on a pu une serviette de bain pour limiter le vent d’entrer.

• Jary (1/5): Bedwantsen hebben de overnachting verpest - De locatie was ideaal gelegen op een loopafstand van het dorpje. De tuin was ook supergezellig om te zitten. Tijdens de nacht werd ik wakker in het bed door jeuk in mijn nek. Toen ik controleerde kon ik een bedwants aantreffen. Bijgevolg heb ik zo snel mogelijk de accomodatie verlaten.

• CELIA (10/5): Lugar con encanto y tradición - La ubicación es excelente, un lugar de encanto, la temperatura en la cueva es ideal, hacia 40°C en la calle y dentro de la cueva hacia hasta frío! Dormimos tapados cuando afuera las temperaturas no bajaron de 30°C. Un lujo! Los colchones están un poco viejos y duros.
• Juergen (10/5): - Es ist etwas für Urlauber, die wirklich etwas außergewöhnliches haben möchten. Es ist Eintauchen in eine andere Welt. Der Weg zur Höhlenwohnung ist steil und man braucht gutes Schuhwerk und gute Kondition. Das Auto kann man unten an der Straße parken. Dann mit leichtem Gepäck geht's nach oben. Die Wohnung ist eine Höhle und verfügt über mehrere Zimmer. Schlafzimmer, Küche und Badezimmer. Es ist alles spartanisch eingerichtet, Luxus darf man hier nicht erwarten, aber viel Ruhe und Natur. Wenn man schön Essen gehen möchte, dann empfehle ich das Restaurant La Cilla, das ist dort, wo das Auto geparkt ist.
• Brice (7/5): - Expérience inédite de vivre dans une habitation troglodyte dans le superbe village d'Artenara. Il faudrait faire quelques efforts, au minimum identifier les clés, ne pas laisser trainer des sacs de ciment, une brouette barbecue... Donc bien pour 1 nuit comme nous mais pour plus...
• Klára (9/5): Spaní v jeskyni pod sochou Ježíše je velkýzážitek. - Bydlení v jeskyni bylo velkým zážitkem. Dobře vybavené a čisté. V noci je v jeskyni opravdu zima i v horkém červenci. Terasa by zasloužila trochu inovace.

• Steffi (5/5): It has potential, but... - Just above the cave is a spectacular viewpoint. I can't really describe what was missing, I think the cave just needs more love and maintenance. Although the old furniture is quite lovely, a litte upgrade to something more modern (maybe a mix of both old and new furniture) would improve the whole ambiance. One thing that would be very easy to improve: indicate which key is for what room. In addition, the door to the bathroom was really hard to open, even with the right key. The whole process of finding the right keys and opening the doors took me about 15 minutes.

• Edward (7/5): Would make a great space for a family party but the property felt a bit unloved and unwelcoming - Unique and fun The instructions to reach the property were not clear. There was a big bunch of unlabelled keys and 4 outside doors for different rooms, some of which were hard to open. The toilet is outside which is not very nice for the middle of the night
• Haensch (5/5): Ave experience below Jesus - The cave house was interesting The trail to the accommodation is not suitable for handicapped people. The Cave house was difficult to find. The outside area was not clean. There were lot's of people on top of the mountain until late hours, very noisy.

• Craig (7/5): Cool cave a good option for Artenara. - On a very hot day, the property was a cool oasis - very welcome. Indoor rooms are a good size and the garden area was a relaxing bonus. The host Samu was in regular contact to ensure all went smoothly on arrival. The property is within easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. My stay in Artenara was part of my coast to coast walk across Gran Canaria. This property is a very good choice for anyone doing similar. The big bunch of keys was quite confusing, trying to locate the right key for each of the many outside doors. Fortunately Samu was able to assist via messaging. The property does sit on a hillside and the steep climb may not be suitable for all. Furnishings are a little dated and I did have to share with some wildlife.

And nice view to the mountains at the Jesus-Monument around the corner. - Stucking Metal Doors - you must be brutal to move the doors - especially the bathroom door. - Problem to open the doors (stucking key-locks and too much keys on the key-bunch). - Shower-Cabin was not water-proof - too much gaps cause flooding the bathroom.

• Liepina (8/5): Nice place in the cave under Jesus statue. - Nice place in the cave. Very cute and cozy. The toilet was a outside the main appartment. I guess, it is ok, when the weather is fine, but we had a storm, so every walk to the bathroom was a cold challenge
• Ian (10/5): Amazing property in a stunning location with good amenities - This is an exceptional property in a wonderful setting on top of a small hill overlooking the town and surrounding countryside. There is a well-stocked large kitchen-diner with a double bedroom attached to it and a beautiful terrace beneath the cave We lacked information for entering the property so we initially went into the additional bedroom instead of the main room. The toilet is accessed by the outside and it was a wet windy night!

• Boris (8/5): Authentic stay - Amazing place to experience local lifestyle. Very authentic place to stay in Artenara with beautiful views onto the island. The hosts are very friendly and helpful with all practical stuff. We enjoyed it a lot. A bit tricky to find the place but with the help of host it was easier!

• Monika (1/5): Was not comfortable at all. - The view Everything was old and used, grabbed together from different spaces, crappy furnishings, loud and heavy doors, with holes where the wind come through, no air suction in the kitchen.
• Igor (7/5): Good - Artenara is a great city up in the mountains. Sleeping in the cave is definitely an experience worth trying, one night is enough :) It's a cave preserved in old style. What is not visible at first sight - toilet and the other room are accessible from the outside, this is a bit complicated especially with small kids. In general I recommend for a night for adults and older children, I don't recommend for small children and elderly people.
