Guest Reviews
- Peter (8/5): -
- Allison (10/5): It felt like home, after coming back a second time. - Location is outstanding. Simple and straightforward service. It fits into the Port au Choix community.
- frank (7/5): - Prijs kwaliteit en restaurant Het is wat verouderd
- Guylaine (10/5): Agréable et commode - Propreté, restaurant sur place, personnel gentil
- James (8/5): -
- Michael (7/5): - Breakfast was fine, the room was clean and accessible and the location suited out needs. All in all a pleasant stay
- Florence (10/5): -
- Lisa (7/5): Decent value for money on a stormy night - Room was a good size and very clean. Comfortable bed. Room was nicely presented. It was windy and the exterior bathroom vent cover was banging all night and could be heard in the room. Included breakfast: I had oatmeal (not served with any milk) and a muffin that was mostly cold still from the fridge. I asked it be warmed up and it was microscopically warmer when it came back so I ate it any way.
- Anne-Sophie (7/5): Étape stratégique. - Propre.

- Charlotte (4/5): Small room with no ability to deal with heat - Not many choices in area and restaurant is handy. No air flow and no/ineffectual AC. Need fan that would bring in air at window not table top rotator. We could barely sleep due to heat.
- Ted (7/5): . - . .
- Fredric (8/5): Very good -
- Tassie (9/5): Superb -
- Sandra (4/5): Disappointing - Location The bath was worn, dull dirty...hair in tub. I didn't even use it. Sink needed a clear cleaning of old soap scumb.
- Deborah (8/5): Would certainly stay here again - Easy to find, very clean, exceptional staff. Nothing
- Andrea (7/5): Good -
- Maggie (6/5): Not bad of a place - Convenient and not bad of a room. Breakfast woman was very kind and accommodating. Kind of rundown and not the cleanest. Front desk lady wasn’t the nicest. Only got a coffee and toast or muffin for breakfast
- Paul (5/5): Not many options in area or good value but nice staff - Responsive staff Fridges don't work very well
- Russell (7/5): It was alright - Location quiet and clean Bathroom was small
- Xiao (6/5): Pleasant -
- Frederic (7/5): Good -
- Simon (10/5): Excellent place to stay on the peninsula - I stayed here for 2 nights to explore the National Historic Site and enjoyed it very much. Room was spacy, comfortable bed, great people and delicious food. Highly recommended if you plan to visit the Peninsula.
- Randy (10/5): Lovely motel, staff and Restaurant. All in one. Great place to stay. - Clean, Quiet, good restaurant on site. All staff interacted with were friendly and very helpful. Food at the restaurant was excellent. Nothing. I would visit here again in a heartbeat.
- Elizabeth (7/5): Good -
- Gary (10/5): We enjoyed the stay - Good breakfast good prices Noise in room next to us. Woke us up.
There was only two rooms occupied in
The whole motel so they could have
Been seperated instead of next store
To each other.
- Robert (7/5): It was fine - Location. Cleanliness Bathroom fan wasn’t working
Toilet had slow tank leak -noisy
- Nicholas (7/5): Good location along the Viking Road and close to Port aux Choix and Port Richie. - The hotel was right in town and had on onsite restaurant that seemed to be frequented by both guests and folks from town. The room was clean and the bed was reasonably comfortable. The hotel has a mix of newer and older room. It seems that I was in one of the older rooms as it did not matched some of the pictures.
- Maarten (7/5): Very good - Fine motel for a stopover in Port au Choix and to discover from there the peninsula.
- Marvin (9/5): Superb - Nice place to stay. Thanks. Not sure!
- Helga (7/5): I guess the only place in town for pet friendly properties - Location, restaurant on site, outside entrance to room Hang the tv on the wall so more open space on the desk/table.
The bedspread are dark and make the room darker.
Needs a new look.
- Maussner (9/5): Superb - The staff is just so friendly and helpful!
- Marchand (7/5): Good - Easy to find.
- Linda (8/5): We really enjoyed our stay and the breakfast was a plus. Such a shame about the couch smell. - It was quiet and clean. Waitress in restaurant Josée was very nice and informative. Couch in room smelled strongly of cat urine so couldn’t sit on it.
- Carol (8/5): Thumbs up. Thank you. - Bought breakfast. Fantastic food in the restaurant and friendly staff. Enjoyed staying there. Only drawback was the surrounding views..
- Deborah (7/5): It was adequate. - It was ok The lady on check in was abrupt. Even said we didn’t have a booking even when I showed her the confirmation. The staff in the morning was accommodating.
- Diane (7/5): Pleasant stay - Restaurant was good. Room was clean and quiet. Bed was comfortable. Not a lot to do in the area.
- Lynn (8/5): Excellent Value, Clean Fresh room comfortable beds great restaurant on site. - August 2024. This motel is right in the center of Port au Choix which is a quaint little town/village on the west coast of NFLD. Hiking trail to the point begins 1 block away. The room was clean and fresh. The queen bed was comfortable. The restaurant served delicious food. We had continental breakfast at the restaurant. ( included in our motel price of 140$ per night). We had supper at the motel as well.(not included in the price). We walked along the dock across the street from the motel. Saw many large fishing boats docked there. Visited the lighthouse, saw caribou and foxes there. The bed was on wheels. Sitting up in bed leaning against the headboard caused the bed to roll.
- Peter (9/5): A place to come back to! - Nice breakfast, not included in price of the room.
The innkeeper was very kind to us after a rainy day on the road. Traditional Newfie desserts. Interesting places to walk in and near the village.
- Stephanie (8/5): Very good -
- Levesque (9/5): Superb -
- William (9/5): Superb -
- John (1/5): Glad to leave!!!! - The restaurant was in walking distance but the food we ordered for dinner was terrible. The turkey was dry, and when we mentioned it, they gave us more gravy.
Grateful we didn’t get food poisoning! The staff when we arrived and when we checked out was nice. The evening staff person was very put out when we asked for one extra towel and a bar of soap.
Thought about bartering with items we weren’t using for items we needed.
- Champika (6/5): Pleasant -
- Oren (8/5): Very good -
- Carianne (8/5): Perfect place to stay a few days to sigh see the area! Highly recommended - Cleanliness , location and amazing restaurant Damp room needed a dehumidifier
- Angela (10/5): Fantastic place - As soon as I walked into the room, you could smell the cleanness and freshness. Very spacious and comfortable. The staff were great and made you feel very welcome! The restaurant was also very good. Clean and organized and the food was delicious! I would definitely stay again and would recommend it to anyone going that way! Couldn't find a tv channel guide on the TV
- Rosanne (8/5): Very good -
- Mary (7/5): Good -
- Pamela (9/5): Superb -
- Sandra (10/5): Great little motel. - The room was a good size and beds were comfortable. Nothing
- Marguerite (8/5): It was a typical motel stay - The location was good, right in the middle of town. The breakfast was a continental breakfast which comprised of toast, oatmeal and coffee. It was strange because it was in the hotel restaurant but we didn’t have access to any other items on the menu. The breakfast
- Triscia (6/5): Pleasant - I didn’t know breakfast was included ? No steps to my room for. The outside. Gravel and a make shift board.
- Ana (9/5): Great motel with associated fish restaurant - Very clean, spacious room, two doors (once facing the corridor, one facing the parking lot), very quiet area Bleach smell a bit too strong when getting in, but I do appreciate the disinfection and the cleanliness!
- Louis (9/5): Superb - Great food
- Christine (8/5): Very good -
- Judy (9/5): Superb -
- David (8/5): Friendly staff. Basic accommodations. - All required essentials were in our room. Clean. Accommodating, since they allowed us to do laundry after their staff were finished their duties. Curtains on window were more like a sheer. Not good at blocking early morning light.
The complimentary breakfast was very limited. Cereal, muffin and coffee, that’s it.
Wi-Fi connection slow and constantly dropping out.
- Paul (6/5): Pleasant -
- Helene (8/5): Very good -
- Karen (8/5): Very good -
- Lisa (8/5): Convenient location, good onsite restaurant, very friendly staff. Room was basic but clean and spacious -
- Steve (7/5): Good - The reservation got lost somehow. They were booked full and had no room for me. The person on duty found me a room in town for the same money. They treated me very professionally even though I was very disappointed with the mix-up. It's not so much how a business treats you when things go well, but how they handle situations when things go wrong. Very professional people here. I didn't stay here so I don't know.
- Maria (8/5): Price was good - Price and kitchenette Very dated and not much charm. Restaurant was closed the next day. No breakfast
- Kim (6/5): Pleasant -
- Christopher (8/5): Acceptable - Close to where I needed to be A bit tired
- Gregg (8/5): Nice motel in a great cove town by a national park site. - Friendly staff, comfortable room, and good value.
- Louise (7/5): Good -
- Timothy (7/5): Good -
- Maria (7/5): Good - It was at the perfect location and the staff was extremely friendly. Great breakfast at the on site restaurant!
The room was recently updated and had no carpet!! It was huge with two comfortable beds and plenty of room to move around.
It was warm and quiet.
- Ray (8/5): Very good - Good Breakfast. My wife and I recently traveled from Ontario to Newfoundland in an electric vehicle, staying at economy motels such as yours, along the way. We were rather disappointed that no economy motels provided overnight EV charging. I would highly recommend that economy motel owners consider installing Level 2 240 volt EV chargers of approximately 30-40 amp capacity connected to a network such as FLO or Chargepoint. The network would collect the cost through their network RFID card or app to compensate the motel owner. A reasonable charge of about $1.50/hr. would be much more attractive to me, then staying at a luxury motel and paying $50 to $100 more per night and receiving “free” charging for approximately $10 worth of EV charging.
- Mrs. (10/5): Exceptional - Good price off the app. Furniture was dated, but the room was clean and tidy. Staff were great!
- Beckerton (4/5): Disapponting - Location was nice. Quiet and scenic area. No mention of included breakfast and had to ask several times about the included canadian breakfast. No area set up for the contintental breakfast. Just a restaurant with a pay menu. We ended up ordering a regular breakfast and there was no discount. The room was misding bath towels and coffee. It was very hot and no ac. check in staff was not overly friendly. Would not stay again.
- Charles (10/5): Exceptional -
- Simone (8/5): Very good -
- Alan (9/5): Superb -
- Iain (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (10/5): Lovely town, wonderful people! - The friendly people Nothing, it was fine
- Samuel (7/5): Great little town, friendly people. - Nice attached restaurant. Beautiful location. Staff very friendly. Coffee and fridge in the room. A bit old. Doors swollen and sticking when opening. Some confusion about room booking on arrival.
- Steve (9/5): Charming little fishing village, this was a good choice! - Rustic but clean.
Restaurant and bar right there
Its a bit of a drive off of the main highway though Pothole filled access road
- Lucas (8/5): Very good -
- Roger (5/5): Passable - Staff was very friendly and helpful
- Karen (6/5): Pleasant -
- Joseph (8/5): Very good -
- Hepler (9/5): Great off the beaten path to a lovely and lightly touristed area - Right dowtown, walk to everything. And a short drive to Port auChoix historic sites.
- Susan (9/5): We had a great time - The location was perfect. The staff were awesome. The bed was not a queen size and was not comfortable.
- Julianne (8/5): Very good -
- Richard (9/5): A quiet and beautiful location to have a rest and see whales, sunsets by the lighthouse at riche poin - Easy of finding, close to site seeing whales and seals. Beautiful sunsets. No complaints.
- John (8/5): A pleasant surprise. - We were pleasantly surprised with the friendliness of the staff and quality of the room.
- Francine (7/5): Good -
- Perry (8/5): Good value and pleasant staff. - Convenient to find and site seeing, restaurant attached. Wifi at distant rooms not working.
- Richard (7/5): Good -
- Carla (6/5): Short stay as we were travelling through. Beautiful area - Very clean. Awesome location. One chair for two people! This chair was left outside and too wet to sit on
Although travelling as a couple, room designed for one person on business given the one chair and desk, instead of table and two chairs
Also, restaurant closed in middle of afternoon due to staff shortage
- Alison (8/5): a good stop on the Viking Highwat - location and a good restaurant the room was ok but could use some updating.
- Sterling (8/5): Very good -
- Mick (9/5): Superb - A very quiet friendly place
- Mathew (8/5): comfortable and would recommend - private entrance and restaurant we were by a doorway leading outside and people congregated to smoke. smoking area should be away from room windows
- also they ran out of cups and glasses at the restaurant so wanted us to do without the coffee/juice that was part of the to go breakfast. I did ask for real mugs since we were staying there and they did that.
- coffee in the lobby or more coffee in the room would be nice
- Kathrin (8/5): Very good -
- Arbuckle (10/5): Exceptional -
