From feeding the animals, toasting - This was the most relaxing venue, no traffic, lovely wildlife, so quiet and so many things to do like the outdoor bath, fire place, BBQ and the animals, it was unreal. Can’t think of anything, it was lovely even the bed was so comfy and the shower pressure perfect!
- Laetitia (10/5): Hidden gem not far from Victor Harbour. Beautiful and peaceful setting. Clean and comfortable. Definitely will recommend - This place is a hidden gem. Lovely and peaceful setting. It was neat and tidy, snd although it is compact in size, it has everything to make your stay a very comfortable one. The bed was sooooo comfy and the outside was definitely one of the highlights of our stay. We fell in love with Ebony the beautiful black horse. Will definitely recommend this place to anyone who may be looking for somewhere to stay. There isn’t really anything not to like. Would be nice to have somewhere to hang a few items of clothing, but it’s absolutely not a necessity. Definitely not the end of the world.
- Dana (9/5): Beautiful quiet country stay very close to the beach. - The beauty and quiet. The owners were so nice. If you want a lovely country stay and close to the beach. This is it. All good.

- mark (10/5): - Quiet and private the property exceeded expectations by miles.steve and hayley have really thought about what guests would like from the bath on the deck to the quality towels wonderful reprieve from our busy road trip
- Madeleine (10/5): - Was in the perfect location with Victor Harbour only being a 15 minute drive away. They also introduced us to the new experience they are adding which will be a petting area. We got to meet their new Highland Cow, miniature donkeys, rabbits, sheep and chickens. All the animals were friendly and would strongly recommend this experience. The staff were very welcoming and happy to help with anything we needed!
- Qianhui (8/5): Nice getaway! - It’s such a cute unit in a farm, with all necessities included inside. I love the bathtub. Bed is really comfy. We have to wake up several times midnight to search for mosquitoes that somehow got into the room.

- Jessica (8/5): Cosy little hideaway away from the hustle and bustle of suburban life. - Amazing views and location with excellent welcome pack/information with introductions of their property and animals. The little combustion heater was a great touch and made it warm and cosy despite the winter weather outside. An extra piece of bread for breakfast - only included 3 for 2 people. Nowhere undercover outside to sit out of the rain and enjoy the serenity.
- Chris (9/5): Superb - Great location. It had everything you needed. The wood heater worked great.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional - Our stay was absolutely exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the attention to detail and the thoughtful amenities provided. We’ve never experienced a place that offered so much, from cooking oil, utensils, a BBQ, firewood, a microwave, lighters, and torches. Everything we could possibly need was already there.
We were also pleasantly surprised to find breakfast provided, with four eggs and four pieces of bacon!! A generous and much appreciated touch.
The view was breathtaking, and waking up to the sight of alpacas in the morning truly made the experience unforgettable. We also enjoyed reading through the guest book. Our only regret was not reading it before we arrived, as we would’ve loved the opportunity to meet the owners and see more of the animals.
Thank you for your generous hospitality. It was perfect in every way.
- Tamara (10/5): Incredible do yourself a favour and book today! - This place is a hidden gem, not too far from the CBD had everything you could need and more. We even enjoyed toasting the provided marshmallows in the company of 5 friendly cows. We will be back and we are telling everyone how amazing away at Ancell was! The only thing I could possibly suggest is a better cutting knife as we massacred a tomato trying to slice it haha. Also an amazing addition to this exceptional property would be a day bed where you could lay outside with a book or lay under the stars at night.
- Steciuk (10/5): Exceptional - The serenity and idealic scenery. Hosts were very welcoming, and the welcome folder was great to read and get to know the farm! Nothing bad! It was amazing
- Hissey (10/5): Exceptional - Loved our stay. Perfect location, beautiful accommodation.
- Linda (10/5): Like a beautiful warm hug - This place was beautiful, like a warm hug and the bed omg soo comfortable and cosy loved everything about it! Nothing
- Daniel (10/5): Amazing, relaxing and quiet. Will come again. - The attention to detail, and the host was the most helpful and flexible I’ve ever met.
Hayley went out of her way to make our stay comfortable and relaxing. There wasn’t anything we didn’t like.
- Michele (10/5): Highly recommeneded - We really enjoyed our one night stay at Away at Ancell. Our main purpose of visiting was a lunch at Lost Phoenix Farm and this accommodation was an ideal distance from there. We brought our own supplies to cook a bbq that evening and utilised the bbq again for breakfast with the delicious eggs and bacon that were provided. The only suggestion I would have would be to maybe provide a large serving bowl for making a salad. It was lovely to wake up to kangaroos, cows and alpacas in the distance and on departure, we were visited by one of the horses. The house was very clean and the bed and pillows really comfortable.
- Craig (10/5): we had the perfect getaway, just what we wer looking for! -
- K (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rebekah (8/5): Very good -
- Jane (9/5): Superb - Solitude and silence
- Rilea (10/5): Beautiful getaway down south - The location was amazing as we were heading in to Victor Harbour the next day. The complimentary breakfast of fresh eggs, bacon, milk and bread was all delicious. Got to meet some lovely cows as well who were very friendly The only grievance I had is that we didn't book to stay longer. Will definitely stay again so that we can use the outdoor bath and meet the rest of the animals on the property.
- Brett (10/5): Away at Ancell – A Tiny Home with a Big Heart - If you’ve ever dreamed of escaping to a picture-perfect countryside retreat, Away at Ancell is the place to be! Set in a stunning location with breathtaking views, this tiny home may be small in size, but it’s packed with thoughtful touches that make for an unforgettable stay.
From the moment you arrive, you’ll feel a world away from the everyday hustle. The clever design ensures everything you need is at your fingertips, including a Weber BBQ to cook up a delicious meal while soaking in the fresh country air. But the real highlight? The incredible outdoor bath under a sky full of stars—pure magic and the ultimate way to unwind.
And then there are the farm animals! Getting up close with them wasn’t just fun; it was genuinely therapeutic for the soul. Whether you’re feeding them, watching them roam, or just soaking in the peaceful surroundings, it’s an experience that brings pure joy.
Away at Ancell is the perfect mix of relaxation, adventure, and nature at its finest. Whether you’re after a romantic escape, a weekend of unwinding, or simply a unique getaway, this little slice of farmyard paradise is well worth the visit. Highly recommend! There is nothing we didn’t like.

- Smolarek (9/5): Beautiful stay, would recommend! - Loooooved the outdoor bath and the surrounding nature. Quaint little getaway perfect for a couples retreat. Neat, clean, tidy, great breakfast options, comfy beds! Great location, only about an hour from adelaide and 15 mins from Victor Harbor. A breath of fresh air went along way along with this gorgeous property. Despite enjoying the lack of phone time, not having WiFi/reception did become frustrating at times. But we were aware there wouldn't be any WiFi going into it.
- Minakshi (10/5): FANBLOODYTASTIC!!!!! Definitely would love to come back. - The location was absolutely amazing!!!
Very neat and clean ( me being with OCD), extremely comfortable, affordable beautiful and quite place. Loved the native flowers, farm fresh eggs, homemade, super delicious tomato sauce and lovely host, including Rocky 🐕 Actually, we could find any fault.
