- Antónia (10/5): Experiência humana incrível, numa natureza perfeita - Experiência incrível!!! O hostal é super acolhedor, e limpo.
Rien

- Madeleine (10/5): Perfecto - We had a great time at Mirlo’s hostel. The room was comfortable and fitted all our needs. The common areas were good to chill out after a big day of rafting or just to chat to staff or people staying in the hostel. We also enjoyed getting to know the two dogs , Mirlos and Solita who were very friendly and always happy for a pat.

- Andrew Ross (7/5): "Cheap" Private Room, but not Quiet. - Comfortable bed, nice to have a private bathroom (naturally more expensive than dorms), there's an electric heater in the room, and the hosts are friendly and welcoming! My private room was built at the back of the house. It's a plywood affair and you can hear EVERYTHING outside, and the entire room shakes when people stomp up and down the metal stairs. Of course, it's not the hostel's fault that certain people were not socialized correctly to consider others, but some guests were much louder than they had to be, seemingly just for the purpose of being loud and annoying, like they wanted to announce their presence to the world by being as heavy-footed as possible, whistling loudly along the way, while the entire building trembled. Beside my room there was also a shared bathroom for the dorms. It was possible to open & close this door more quietly by lifting it, but many people seemed to like the loud shrieking sound it made as it scraped the doorstop. It drove me insane. The first two nights were intolerable, and then the third, it seemed quiter, so annoyances depend on the other guests.
Why am I going on this rant? Because I suspect that if you are seeking a private room, you might also hope for a certain degree of peace, rather than a boisterous atmosphere of younger people in a dorm, so you need to be aware of this. Problem is, Chile is very expensive, so this was the cheapest private room I could find on Booking at the time. But at $70 CAD, I would expect a higher level of comfort (not the bed--it was fine, but peace of mind).
So, in conclusion, if you're younger and want to stay in a dorm, you'll probably love this place. If you're older and hoping for a good sleep, you might want to examine more expensive options elsewhere. The price/value ratio is lacking in Chile! For this price, it would be much cheaper to travel around Europe (and don't even get me started on Asia)!
Also, the owner charged the 19% VAT, even though I paid by foreign card. This is not supposed to happen when you pay with a foreign card or in a foreign currency.
