Guest Reviews
- Keylor (4/5): Disappointing - Location Lack of cleaning and toiletries
- Brian (9/5): Superb - Paying cash for the stay is a downer. This was night 9 and 10 of a 10 day stay in Costa Rica. Having to carry large sums of cash around the whole trip was a bit unnerving. Suggestion: take at least Venmo or other pay service to make it easy on the guests. Also, they should Airbnb this room instead of Booking.com...that way payments are handled online.
- Ricky (10/5): Exceptional -
- Roxann (1/5): Keep looking - Pool and supermarket Ac made such a racket all night!!! quite durning day loud at night, no lights on stairs, beds uncomfortable,no shower was not in working order, tons of ants, sheets smelled like pee, curtains not long enough could see in room. Definitely not worth money suffered for two days
- Serg (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rachel (9/5): Lovely modern stay in good location - Lovely family, very modern and well stocked kitchen. Ideal location for the bus, tracopa stop nearby and then the bus to palmar Norte for drake bay right next to it to, ideal for what we needed No issue for us, but may need to take stairs to get to 2nd floor
- Foster (10/5): Exceptional -
- Liza (10/5): Exceptional -
- Robert (8/5): Friendly place but probably won't stay again. - The manager.. very kind. Although they overbooked, we were given very good accommodation elsewhere but that location didn't have a pool. My bookings said I would pat $43. Manager charged me $48. I gave her $50 but she didn't have change so I was overcharged.
- Marcelo (1/5): The rooms are in need of a BIG makeover and maintenance. The doors don’t close properly, the window in our room was stuc - Outdoor area Everything else.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Adin (10/5): Genuine local vibe - The owner, Wendy, is super nice, warm and welcoming.
On the first night, as we were about to go and eat out, she invited us for a homemade Costa Rican meal.
Every morning she made us Costa Rican coffee.
This place is not about luxury and modernism, it’s for those who appreciate being surrounded by nature and locals and looking for an authentic experience.
- Miranda (8/5): Very good -
- Kristi (8/5): Very good - Had the best host! Pretty outside area, well equipped kitchen and enough space in the rooms. Very close to the bus station and the supermarket. Really enjoyed out stay! A bit far from the beach, but there was no problem catching an uber.
- Lajos (10/5): Exceptional -
- Laura (4/5): Disappointing -
- Colin (10/5): loved it home from home - I came for a day and stayed for a week after a month travelling by public transport and staying in various hotels it was a welcome break to find a place I actually felt at home in.
it's very handy place to take time out if your on your way down to osa peninsula.
it's a couple of streets behind the highway so you don't hear the traffic but it's minutes walk to supermarket pharmacy restaurants ect.
bit further to the beach but easily walkable or you can get an uber or taxi if you wanted to.
the host Wendy is really lovely it's like iv known her for years.
the outside kitchen is perfect for just chilling and watching the beautiful birds come to feeding table. nothing I would have stayed longer if I didn't have deadlines to meet.
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Rangi (10/5): Exceptional - Nice place. Bed was comfy. Pool is great. Common areas are good to chat with other guests. Could park my bike securely. Wendy is a great host.
- Jean-françois (9/5): Superb -
- Stephanie (5/5): Passable - The price was cheap and it was close to the bus station. The communication was poor, there was no top sheet on the bed, and the toilet was not clean.
- Catherine (10/5): Exceptional - The manager Wendy is very warm, friendly and helpful. It was like meeting an old friend. The place is 5 minutes walk from town and bus stop. Room was very comfortable. The outdoor undercovered kitchen has everything you need. I only have good things to say about this place.
- Magdalena (9/5): Great relaxing stay - For two weeks of my trip in Costarica was looking for a place to rest and relax. That was this place. Room and bed was comfy enough, very nice common space with a lot of places to hang out. Good vi-fi and very nice staff. Quiet! Would come back surely! A hammock in shade would make me fully happy😉 in case of planning visits to the beach this place is a half an hour walk away.
- Teta (10/5): Wonderful location with an open kitchen, a pool, comfy rooms, and exceptional staff. - The host, Wendy, did an exceptional job of making us feel comfortable and welcome. She shared her experience growing up in the area, helped us make dinner, and even took us to the beach one day. The pricing was very reasonable and the location next to the bus stop was optimal for my travel plans. Wendy spoke very good English and gave us tips for navigating Uvita and Dominical. We had different amounts of friends staying on different nights and Wendy didn't make us change rooms or cause any issue with this.
- James (7/5): Good - Wendy very helpful and welcoming.
- Reinhard (10/5): Nice people , nice place ! Great Community - Nice people , nice place ! Great Community
- Amy (9/5): Amazing atmosphere - The atmosphere was amazing. The owner made us fresh fruits and Costa Rican coffee in the morning. We had a lovely conversation with her and a Canadian couple. The owner is lovely and speaks good english. In our long world travel, this place made us feel a bit like home. We now understand the phrase 'pura vida'.
Also the room was clean and comfortable and the kitchen seemed well equiped.
- Padma (10/5): Exceptional - Very cozy place, very quiet, comfortable mattress, nice common area (kitchen, pool). Manager Wendy is very spontaneous, she introduced me to local way of living. Nice flora and fauna around property, birds, monkeys.. Heavy rains in May. It was pouring immensely.
- Michal (10/5): The best manager Wendy ever - The best was manager Wendy! She is so helpul and amazing!!!
- Zwitzel (10/5): very accommodating hosts. The room is perfect for us - the host were very kind and friendly. We feel confortable staying there the AC was loud but the host resolved it and gave us a quiet room. It was all good!
- Hannah (10/5): Loved our stay here, the room was basic but clean. The kitchen area was great & had everything you need. Good locati - Loved the kitchen / common area Would have loved a side table or chest of drawers so belongings didn’t have to go on the floor.
- J (10/5): Exceptional - The owners were always around and very nice and friendly. Very welcoming environment
- Jean-martin (9/5): Casa Fort Loco in Uvita is a solo traveler's sanctuary, offering a unique blend of comfort and adventure. The staff& - Great location very central close to supermarket. Quiet respectful place. Nice to cool off in the pool. Hosts are great :) super kid friendly.
- Justus (10/5): Exceptional - The owner and staff were super nice and the equipment of the kitchen is outstanding. The AC and the pool were also a plus and it is very close to the bus station.
- Arrow (8/5): Very good -
- Timothy (10/5): This is a lovely part of Costa Rica, well worth a visit!! - Good location, very comfortable, great staff!!Pavel,Wendy and Andreas were so helpful and accommodating!! I would definitely recommend this place!!
- Nacrobat (8/5): Very good - Super nice people running the place, fast to address any issues we had, good size room, 2 separate bedrooms, a/c, very nice pool, decent kitchen, great dining table Not a complaint but it should be noted that the super nice people running the place live there, and you will be sharing the facilities with them and some children.
- Sharon (10/5): Great acccomodations! - Friendly hosts, comfortable room, pool and air conditioning! A great place to stay!
- Doug (8/5): Very good - Nice pool, great host with good information Nothing about the accomadations, just not crazy about Uvita didnt really like the vibe there with the main city center right along the highway.
- Luna (10/5): Exceptional - The staff was super nice, always willing to help. There was a great atmosphere with kind people. The pool was always clean, the outdoor kitchen was also very beautiful and equipped with everything you need. All in all super nice accomodation, super fair prices. Would always go back.
- Spike (10/5): Exceptional -
- Denise (10/5): Highly recommended! - Amazing Accomodation! We really enjoyed our stay. The whole area is super clean and comfortable. Rooms with AC, towels etc. You can use the kitchen and fridge, also the swimming pool is great.
You have the opportunity to wash your clothes for a little money.
Parking spots available.
Supermarket, Beach, Busstation and everything else you might need is very close.
The owners are super friendly and welcoming. You will feel like home, they’re there if you need anything and they’re always happy to help.
We would always come back and high recommendings!! <3 :) We would have loved to stay longer.
- Bruus (9/5): Superb - The host Andres is very kind and always ready to help you. The pool and around the pool is clean and cozy.
It's a good place for young people. The kitchen could be better. Not always that clean.
- Sam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jan (10/5): Great value for the money. - Very cosy but lace close to the city center and the beaches. Good value for the money! Pool could be a few degrees warmer, but good great for cooling off
- Aleneveu (7/5): Good -
- Sára (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tobias (9/5): Very relaxed and - Wendy and Andre have been super hosts and we felt really welcomed, supported and cared :)
If you need anything, just ask and they will help out!
Best part was the food party with Wendy and other guests :D! Leave no open food or items, ants are very good at finding it :D
- Flora (10/5): Wonderful! I’m Grateful. 🙏🏻 - Best possible location. Great service. Attentive and helpful staff. Good facilities. Great pool. Great cost benefit I have nothing to complain about.
- Troelies (9/5): Super friendly host - Price/quality = great deal
- Billie (7/5): I only stayed for a couple of days. I think for 1 night it was ok, but not for me for more - The Lorne kitchen was nice and the pool. The kitchen area was very clean and there was plenty of space to spread out or talk with others. There is a cool vibe - the owners are helpful with suggestions and whatever you need. They are a very short walk to grocery, restaurants, and the main road. They are convenient to the bus if needed. Parking and plenty of space to keep your food in the refrigerator. They lock the gate at night. The hot water didn’t work in the shower. They have breakers in the bathroom, but even with everything else turned off - everything - the hot water still blew the breaker and I only had cold showers my entire stay. Staff did not seem to care much about resolving the issue, compensating me for the inconvenience, or moving me to an empty room. Zero toiletries - not even a little soap for the sink. Room had a bed and 2 plastic chairs - no table or anything to put your belongings on. Sink was a stone bowl that looked interesting but gave no space to set out necessities for shower or otherwise.
- Steven (8/5): Very good - The accomodations. The lack of soap in the bathroom.
- Anderson (9/5): Good place - It was very comfortable, the location is perfect for people traveling by bus. It is perfect for the price and the owner is always there for you.
- Domenic (8/5): Nice family run hotel in Uvita - Nice place in central Uvita close to the bus station. It looks like it’s all fixed up now and everything seems just fine. The owner was a super nice dad who gave us a ride to the beach, which was fun. The kids were fun to hang out with, too. The kitchen was a little messy but not any worse than the average hostel. AC worked well but wasn’t adjustable.
- Veronika (10/5): Exceptional - I loved the host who was very talkative, hospitable and friendly. The room had absolutely everything a traveller needs - comfy bed, hot shower and working AC.
- Pierrick (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, great room, great common kitchen, great swimming pool and super nice owner! I recommend this place!
- Hanna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Fernanda (7/5): Good -
- Anonymous (10/5): we really enjoyed all of it - very friendly and funny guy, helped us with everything and also took us to a beach. he also has two wonderful kids! 😊great location and very big common area. spacious rooms with AC, pool was nice too! thank you, we would always like to come back 😍
- Jeremy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anna-sophie (4/5): Full of potential, but partially unkempt room - We can say that the staff was very friendly. Also the kitchen and the overall common area were large and the atmosphere was nice. Also our room (room nr 1) had made a good impression at first sight. however, when we took a closer look, we could see relatively large defects. For one thing, the air conditioning could not be adjusted, the drainage of the shower took a long time and only little water came out of the faucet. But what really shocked us was that there was an abandoned insect nest hanging on the wall lamp in the middle of the room.
When talking to other guests, we got the impression that these defects are only present in this room and the guests were satisfied with the other rooms.
I really hope that the owners fix these defects as soon as possible, so that other guests do not have the same experience.
- Christine (9/5): The location was great, close to beaches, waterfall, grocery stores! - The owners were super friendly and very helpful ! We enjoyed our stay with them very much!
- Alix (10/5): Kick back place close to restaurant and grocery - amazing kitchen, swim pool, location and mostly the people who run the property. n/a
- Lynn (10/5): perfect location, friendly owner, and great potential - the new opener (since end january) is investing a lot of time and work on improving the hostel. while we stayed there, they were building a brand new outside kitchen!! he is also planning on improving all bathrooms and painting all bedrooms and replacing all beds. so no, it’s not a 10 right now, but he is working on it. I have to compensate for poor people that dare to give a 1 while they see all the progress and while the owner is really helping them. This place has a lot of potential; until then, just stay there if you want to stay in a basic room with good price/quality on a perfect location. after a few weeks I am expecting the entire property will be renewed. the owner is very very friendly
- Melissa (9/5): Superb - Nice place to stay with a pool and close to the bus terminal. This hotel has recently been bought by a young family from Europe, and they are in the process of renovating it and fixing it up. There is a shared kitchen, and while we were there they were building a brand new kitchen from scratch, so it should be great in the future! The air con in our room worked great too, and we were happy with our stay there! Rooms were old and a little dirty but the sheets were clean, and with the new owners I'm sure it'll improve greatly in the future!
- Otto (10/5): Family Place with Family treatment - This venue is quite new, however I felt like I arrived home. The family running the hostel is very friendly and service oriented. The hostel has a great future taking the planned innovations into account as well. I loved to be there
- David (10/5): Exceptional - Everything
- Michael (1/5): Under construction - There is a new owner, who bought the place just two weeks ago. Pawel is a very friendly and nice guy. He also reimbursed us for the canceled two nights. However the whole building is still under construction and the apartment we got was very dirty and there is dust everywhere. I think in a few weeks the place will look very nice, but it should not be rented out during the construction. We didn’t like the place at all and left after one night.
- Silvana (9/5): I had a fantastic time and felt very welcome and like home! Thanks Pavel! - Uvita is a small and relaxed town. Casa Fotr loco is located in the center of Uvita, very close to the bus station, bank, supermarkets and restaurants. The entrance to the National Park Marina Ballena is in warming distance.
If you need a refreshment, just jump into the pool. It’s very nice to have breakfast in the outdoor kitchen, which gets reicht now a up date.
