• Sophia Julia (9/5): Great place to stay for a short while. The owners were very accommodating and friendly. - The location is absolutely perfect and the owners were super friendly. The bathroom was clean and convinient, and I liked the view from the balcony. The only minus of the hotel was that the beds and pillows were not comfortable. The bed had a bunch of springs or something in the mattress.

• Georg (9/5): prima - als Ersatzunterkunft für eine Absage gebucht und vom freundlichem Eigentümer empfangen worden.Dieser wohnt im Vorderhaus welches direkt am See liegt.Ein sehr freundlicher (auch englischsprechender) Mensch.Das Hotel ist etwas versteckt durch seine rückwärtige Lage,aber jeder auf der Straße kennt es.Ich stand direkt davor.Die Zimmer sind gemütlich und ausreichend groß -das Bad nagelneu und superclean.Eine ideale Stadtunterkunft sehr zentral gelegen mit sehr hilfsbereitem Eigentümer. We got the room at the top, yes long stairs but we were well aware and didn’t mind the extra exercise :) We did good use of the natural air coming from the balcony and big windows even though air conditioning is available. Another plus, the property is family owned. NA

• Allen (9/5): Plum location with all you need for a luxurious stay. - Loved the location - who wouldn’t? T Home Balcony is right on Hoan Kiem lake so one gets the long north-south view across the lake as you come and go. Very comfortable bed (had a luxurious topper), great bathroom (that gleamed) and such gracious hosts, rounded out an excellent Hanoi stay. We also appreciated that any cleaning products used were not highly scented. (So often, this is used to mask bad smells - obviously not needed here). Enjoyed having the balcony too. It would be our privilege to stay here again. Highly recommend Tuan’s place.
• AB évènementiel (8/5): - Nous avons sejourner dans ce lieu , hyper bien situé au tour du lac hoan kiem, a 15 min de train street, a 5 minute de vieux quartier animer, juste en bas des super glace. Y a qu’a traverser la rue pour le cours de thi chi le matin a 6h00. Acceuil super, chambre tres propre et lit tres confortable contrairement a d autres avis.que nous avons vu.. L escalier un peu etroit mais oas genant.

• Masaru (9/5): I have stayed in several locations in Hanoi since last year and this has been the best budget hotel. - T Home Balcony is nearly perfect. Location is practically next to Hoan Kiem Lake. There is a laundry facility, kitchen with microwave, bottled water available every day, snacks, mini-fridge in rooms, and great wi-fi. No breakfast is provided but there are restaurants and shops next to and all around the hotel. Everything in the room was clean, including the bathroom. Tuan, the host, was very helpful and nice. He and his son took my big 30 kg luggage up all the stairs. First day, I stayed on 2nd floor. After that, I moved to 4th floor, which I liked even better. For the first time, I stayed at a hotel with a specified quiet time, which began at 10 pm. Most travelers would appreciate that. The day I left, Tuan helped me get a Grab driver because I was having a hard time. I look forward to going back to Vietnam and staying at T Home Balcony again in a few months. Grab and GPS are not always accurate. It would be easier for travelers like me to find the hotel if there was a big sign at the entrance of the building, with 'T Home Balcony' on it. On Booking.com, there happens to be a photo of the entrance, among several other photos for each type of room; but it is not clear. So, I hope the photo I took and attached to my review will help those who read it. The small entrance is next to the green Spatisserie Coffee shop, on the right side, and behind the guy in the white tee shirt.

Tuvimos que avisar al propietario, que salió amablemente a la calle a encontrarnos. Alojamiento al 4rto piso, sin ascensor.

• Nadine (10/5): We had a lovely stay, just opposite the lake and not far from old quarter. - Room was clean and great location! Don’t be put off by the alley way and how busy the street is. The room is very nice and quiet for where it is. Be mindful that there is no lift and there is an exercise group that blast music at 6am by the lake. But it’s very manageable.

The house is located inside the courtyard, it was quiet. The bed does not creak, the mattress is good. Cleanliness, comfort, fresh repair, nice smell. Good internet. The location is great, close to everything, but not crowded and noisy. There is a steep staircase here, like in an authentic Hanoi house, if you are not up for cardio exercises or have disabilities - it’s not your choice.

It was very convenient to do laundry. Tuan was a great host, always very responsive. He organised pick up and drop off to the airport which was very much appreciated. As a female solo traveler I always felt safe in Tuan's home and in Hanoi. It was all good

I love it, others might not: Narrow staircase to get to the room. Since there is no shower curtain or wall, one needs to clean the bathroom and toilet after taking a shower. • Ding (10/5): Fantastic stay just 1 minor caveat - The location is spot on. Across the road from Ho Hoan Kiem andOld Quarter is your backyard this is central as you'd want. Surprisingly quiet due to it next right next the the main road along the pond just down a short passage. We were on the 6th floor so view was good I could just see and hear the exercise groups in the mornings. Would come back. There's no elevator and we were on the top floor (worst case scenario) so if you don't like stairs you might have a be a little winded getting upstairs. The have this electric crane that can help get your luggage up. The son was very helpful getting our luggage up and down from the 6th floor.

Excellent location, rooms are in great condition (personally thought the room was better than the photos look), we also had a late 1am check in but our host was really accommodating and easy to communicate with.

• Sarah (9/5): Superb - We had a nice stay at T Home Balcony. Our host was very friendly and really made sure that we were comfortable throughout our stay. The room is nice, as pictured online. The AC was cold and the showers are hot (make sure to turn on the hot water button). You can sometimes hear noise from the stairway or outside but I am a light sleeper and thought it was okay with ear plugs. My one suggestion would be a smaller pillow, but other than that, we were pleased with our stay! Plus, we were often asked in Vietnam (sometimes aggressively) to leave a review; so the fact that our host did not ask us makes me even happier to leave this one. Smaller pillows

• Zesen (2/5): terrible - The hotel is very close to Hoan Kiem Lake, and the host was quite welcoming. Unfortunately, these are pretty much its only two advantages. This hotel was the worst experience I had during my eight-day trip in Vietnam. Forgive my frankness, though I have considered the potential impact of a negative review on a family-run hotel. Honest feedback can help them meet industry standards. The biggest problem was the excessive use of vertical space, with only one room per floor and narrow staircases. When carrying luggage upstairs, your shoulders would repeatedly hit the walls, creating discomfort, even if the hotel owners help with some luggage. Secondly, the hotel's noise was troubling. We arrived in Hanoi just before Vietnam's 10/10 celebration, and it was noisy day and night. Given the hotel's poor sound insulation, even on non-special occasions, the windows failed to block out the noise from Hoan Kiem Lake. Another issue was the poorly placed air conditioning. The vent blew directly on your feet, and the provided cups were small and thin. Unfortunately, this caused my gout to flare up again, ruining the last two days of my trip. I deeply regret not choosing another hotel during the more than twenty minutes my partner and I waited outside the hotel, ringing the bell, with no response. Finally, a friendly neighbor informed the hotel owner resting in another building. I rarely critique a hotel stay so harshly, but my painful feet were unbearable. At the end of our Vietnam trip story, my partner and I decided to switch hotels, abandoning the paid second night and moving to a nearby hotel, where our bad experience was partly alleviated. I hope our experience can serve as a reference for others. Oh, I also wanted to post this review on Google Maps, but unfortunately, I discovered that the hotel isn't listed there. Yes, you read correctly, the hotel is not on Google Maps, which we realized when we first arrived in Hanoi and tried to take a Grab taxi. Unbelievable!

The host was kind enough to bring our luggages to the 5th floor, we would have left them on the ground floor if it was up to us! The windows surrounding the one room apartment allowed gentle rainy breeze to sooth us to sleep. The room is on the 5th floor, and there's no elevator. We didn't even go out after checking in because of this fact. The stairs aren't comfortable either, I tripped a few times the three times I had to climb to the top floor. Adjusting the hot water was a chore, it was either too hot or too cold.
