- Richard (5/5): Nice but would never stay there again because I guess I should have read the fine print before I was charged $116 in tax - Cozy and picturesque The 50 very steep stairs that were not mentioned in the description
- Leo (1/5): I havent stay. 42hours noticed cancelled my booking and still pay the whole day stay. I ask for refu -
- Trevor (6/5): A few tweaks and this place would be much better - Loved the lake access and water craft available for use and how close it is to peggys cove. The property manager also went above and beyond in providing a cable for use to charge our electric vehicle which was extremely helpful. The overall cleanliness of the cottage could have been better, especially since there was a flat $150 cleaning fee even though we were there for less than 24 hrs. It would be better to have a sliding scale of a cleaning fee dependant on how long your stay is. When we arrived the entrance smelled like wet dog, we had to air out the place. Also the electric heat came on automatically overnight and we were sweating like crazy even with the A/C on because we had no idea that would be on in early august!
- Jen (1/5): Extremely Disappointing Stay – Unsafe Setup, Rodent Issues, and Poor Maintenance - Extremely Disappointing Stay – Unsafe Setup, Rodent Issues, and Poor Maintenance
I wanted to love this property, but my 4-night stay was filled with problems I could not have anticipated.
First, there is a light switch beside the bathroom towel hooks that shuts off the entire water supply to the house. I discovered this in the middle of a shower — soap in my hair, no water. I called the owners, who explained it was the switch, but placing towel hooks there is an accident waiting to happen.
Then, when I used the hair dryer in the bathroom provided by them, it blew a fuse. The breaker could only be accessed in a small crawl space under the house — not reasonable for a guest to access. The owners said they’d send a repair person, but the washroom lights and the outlet were never restored, so we had to use a flashlight for the rest of our stay nor were we updated in the progress of these repairs which left me feeling uncomfortable leaving the premise.
It only got worse. When I turned off the air conditioning and opened the screen door for fresh air, I immediately heard scratching and clawing noises in the walls and under the house. My dogs became fixated on the kitchen cupboards and bathroom area where the sounds were coming from. This was not occasional — it was constant. I saw multiple ultrasonic pest repeller devices plugged in throughout the house, which suggests the owners know about the problem. Unfortunately, they do not work. I even saw a large rat on the back deck in broad daylight.
The property is also in poor condition: the bushes on the deck are so overgrown you can barely see the waterfront, and branches are growing up through the railing. Inside, I overlooked the uncleanness and spiders everywhere because there was a vacuum available, but I ended up vacuuming daily just to keep the bugs under control. On top of this, the stairs down to the house shake as you walk on them, which is another clear sign of overdue repairs.
- Christine (10/5): A perfect spot for a couple of days relaxing by the lake - A beautiful spot right on the lake
- Ariane (9/5): Had a wonderful stay! - The location, access to the lake, coziness, cleanliness. Had what was needed to cook! The stairs and pretty lights were very romantic! I wish charcoal was included as it’s not something one can easily buy a small amount of.
Hot water in the shower was pretty short lived. Not the end of the world but required some planning.
- Katharine (10/5): Exceptional - The location was perfect for us as a jump off point for all of our trips around NS from sightseeing to hiking...Peggy's Cove and Halifax were very easy to get to. The cottage is located in a peaceful neighbourhood and view from the balcony is gorgeous. The cottage was clean and comfortable and the kitchen had nearly everything we needed for cooking simple meals. Being able to do laundry while we were there helped a lot. We would definitely stay here again (hopefully in the summer so we can take advantage of the other amenities)! There are stairs to get to the property so not very accessible for anyone with mobility issues.
- Vasiliki (10/5): Exceptional - Location, views, comfort.
- Monique (9/5): Superb -
- Vicki (10/5): Our New Favorite Getaway. - Our 2 night stay was perfect. It's so peaceful and the surroundings are beautiful. It felt like we were a million miles away from everything. The cottage was stocked with everything you could ever need.( including spices). We loved it so much, we already booked a weekend in the summer. We loved everything.
